0:00Dear McDonald's, your breakfast menu, fire, tens across the board. I could be happy with anything, even though I ordered the same thing every time. Thanks for not judging me. I'll try something new next time. Maybe. Score a two-for-five-dollar deal in a sausage McMuffin with egg and more. Limited time-only price and participation may vary, cannot be combined with any other offer single-item at regular price. Bada, bada, bada, bada, bada. Check podcasts. Thanks for listening to the Donnie and Dolly Podcast. Catch the show Monday through Friday, 10am to noon on check. I think you're going to want to hear this s***. Your local sports coverage lives here. It's not the ants out of it. Not so fast, co-ho breath with John Taylor. I say that the winner of the draft lottery should be the winner of a two-man loose.

1:00And Rick Dolly wall. I had a cherry tree up a little rickia. I used to go up that tree and just sit there for hours and munch on those cherry. Years Donnie and Dolly. 10 o'clock in downtown of that curve will run the Paul Carson studio. Thanks for tuning in, folks. It's Donnie and Dolly the team on check. Don Taylor along with Rick Dolly wall. Ryan Henderson is our producer. He's the man that the controls are director. The voice of God is Derek Wong. How are you? Lovely. Couldn't be better. You changed the opening. Because there was a key for Sherwood reference there. He's now on his way to... All right. I'm playing for the San Jose sharks. And they of course visit the connocts on Tuesday. You put in the co-ho breath. Yeah. Well, because you did that last week and then people said they enjoyed that. One person liked it. That's our audience pretty much. There's a lot of people out there who won't remember what co-ho means. It's a great stick. It's a great stick. Yeah. It's a brand. We didn't want to say that. We all had a co-ho back in the 80s.

2:03Like early 2000s, there was like a road hockey stick that was... I think it was co-ho. And it was like yellow, bright yellow. And it was like a really cool one. Early 2000s, that was out of road hockey by then. That's my wheelhouse. Yeah. I want to say it was. Co-ho and Titan were big back in the day. Brands, you don't necessarily see anymore. Joffa. Yeah. I'm making a comeback because of a dart. Well, I think sure was. Sure was. And Canadian too. CCM and Bauer have been around forever. Yeah. They haven't really took that much. Nike had it pushed as well. Yeah. Eastern. Yeah. Yeah. Eastern was... I first noticed them. I remember Louisville slugger having hockey sticks as well. But Eastern started making it big. When Gretzky started using their sticks when he moved from... Yeah. ...to the Kings in the late 80s. But Co-ho was a big deal. Made in Finland if I'm not mistaken. There you go. Let's move on. Little equipment. You spent a long enough time on that.

3:03Hockey equipment. History. We'll talk. Hockey. We'll talk about the connox in a bit. Peng was over the connox. Three, two. Yesterday. Some controversy there. At the end of the game. With the Bryan Rust elbow to the head of Brock Besser. Anything there? Rick regarding a suspension. Well, it looks like there is a suspension coming. Donnie was told this morning. Supplemental... Supplemental discipline will be coming. A hearing for Rust as well. It was a headshot. And I think the NHL Department of Player Safety recognized it last night. They looked at it closely last night. Look at the end. This morning. And here it is right now, Don. And you'll watch him number 17 coming right there. Boom. Headshot. Bottom line. Yeah. So I don't know if there's any surprise that... I don't know what his suspension history is. That he's going to receive some sort of supplemental discipline. More on that in a little bit. As a matter of fact, this play here will be somewhat the focus of a waddling dog pull question.

4:05So that in a bit. But meanwhile, we've got to talk about what's going on with the Seattle Seahawks here. And they're going to the Super Bowl for a fourth time. They're going to be playing the Super Bowl for 127 of the Rams in the NFC final. And more on that in a bit. I want to acknowledge this. That the Seahawks are going to be playing the Patriots. Incredible. They're playing the Patriots again. Of course, they lose to them in Super Bowl 49. The last time the Seahawks were in Super Bowl. But I want to say this about the Patriots win in Denver. And our show last week, Ryan and I argued last week about snow games. Yeah. And how he hates them. And I'm a big fan. Why? Well, I have to say that. Ryan, I'm not saying you're proven right. Oh, yes, I am. Overall. But look at you leaning back. Because I am loving this. No, I've been working out the forums. That's not pretty big. That's what you mean, you're right. But yesterday, they're just they and maybe it was because it wasn't that way.

5:10The game wasn't snowbound for the entire contest. I mean, they had to make the adjustment and they didn't. There was just no offense once once the bad weather hit. And I still find it fascinating to watch. But I understand the critics and why they don't like like that sort of thing. I still think it makes for great pictures. I'll stand by that. But in terms of pure football, I'm not so sure it was great yesterday in Denver. In Denver. So you're just it helped your argument yesterday. It could not have been more perfect that it was backed up so quickly. The game in Chicago last weekend, when there was Flarees around. You could tell it was cold. Perfect. Time to entertainment. Yesterday, that game was awful, man. The second half in particular, so bad. Yeah, they had the snowblower. And then the contrast to what we saw later, I like you. I didn't admit that maybe I was wrong. And I think a lot of it had to do with what I just said before.

6:11That there had to be an adjustment made. Yeah. Certainly off the bump. Most sides of the ball. And they weren't able to do it. 10-7. The Patriots go on to the Super Bowl. I love watching. It was not a... The AFC final was nowhere near the NFC final. You had two of the best teams in the NFL for that. Yeah, no, but still. I don't think it was because of the snow. The snow was there. I loved watching it in the second half. There was no issues with it. But man, the Seahawks game, Donnie. That was fun to watch. Back and forth. Two Titans going back. It's unpredictable. Yeah. It was... And right to the end. Even the last catch, did it go out of bounds or not? It was just fun to watch. The other footnote, by the way, with the NFC championship, gave him no bonus. That hurt the entertainment value. That hurt the offense value. It did, except... Still, it was pretty good. At the start. At the start, but that's the thing. It's still sure he was helped by the game plan at the end. At the start he was. Not at all. Yeah. Lots of controversy. Yeah. Weird. That was strange. But I think when you're watching a game that's that important.

7:13Yeah. And one of the things you want to see, and this was just so good yesterday, in Seattle, that it was Sam Donald and Jackson Smith and Jigba. And Pukinakua and Matthew Stafford. The stars of those two teams. Offensively, anyway, played like stars. Their numbers, all of all four of those players, were off the charts. That catch by Jackson Smith and Jigba. I'm not talking about his touchdown. I catch it. But the one-hander, and it was held it out there like the statue of Liberty. Oh my god. What an athlete coming through. So big in the biggest moments. But those stars were stars. The other thing about that game, and it ended up 31-27. And to have them play, what the three games and the three games were decided by a total of seven points, I believe I've got that right. No. Just it was such great entertainment. The other thing that hit me too was the stat that came out at the end of the game.

8:15And that had to do with Seahawks General Manager John Schneider. Yeah. The connects might want to look at this. This guy is the first NFL GM to go to multiple super bulls with a different head coach and a completely different roster. Now they don't talk about rebuild as much in the NFL as they do in the national hockey league. And he doesn't get enough attention. Pete Carroll got most of the attention during that era. And the same thing happens with Mike McDonald. And I know they're on the sidelines. You see him. But I don't know if he gets enough. We'll talk about it. He infernest about this. He's going to come up in a bid here from down from down in Seattle. I'm not so sure he gets enough credit. At least around these parts, maybe down in Seattle, it's different. But that is a great stat. And something that you can look at as, of course, they want a super bowl of the Seahawks. You know, lost a couple.

9:16But to rebound from that and make some moves. Bowl moves. Bowl moves. Well, Gino Smith, see you later. And then they come up with, you know, they get Sam Donald. Had the disappointing, by the way, how are Vikings fans feeling today? Who had the disappointing two games at the end of last season. For the Vikings, out he goes, goes to Seattle. You know, John Schneider, what are you doing? You know, Smith, are you sure about this? He goes down to Vegas, lays an egg. And then Sam Donald was great yesterday. No turnovers. And turnovers were definitely an issue for Sam Donald in the first three games against the Rams. Six picks. No, he was, he was really, really good. And again, I'll say it. I wonder what, nothing against JG McCarthy, but I'm just wondering what, what they're thinking in Minnesota today. Well, it was pretty impressive. They can't be happy. Darnal was great. Three touchdown passes, no turnovers. He threw six picks against the Rams in the first two games in the regular season. It was just, and I'll tell you one more. And you know what?

10:16It was the, the, the, there was nothing lucky about his performance here today. It was just, he was just on on and in the, in the biggest moment. And I'll tell you this. This guy, reek. Is it reek? Or Rick? It's reek. Reek. Reek won. Uh, he slept good last night. But boy, if the Seahawks would have lost last night, Donnie, he would have got the blame for it. Unacceptable. Stupid penalty. Rams are got, they got the punt team out. And he takes a taunting penalty on their bench. You know, right in front of the referee, two feet away. How dumb was that? Boy is he lucky? Because the whole city is Seattle. I don't know. What do you mean? He's lucky. I don't know if you make that call at that time. But I will say this. Look at this. You can't do this, Donnie. The punt team's going on. You have to know better. Yeah, see the referees right there. So you have a point there. But what I loved about this sequence was that he takes that penalty.

11:16Obviously his mind is elsewhere. Yeah. So what does Matthew Stafford, Sean McVan Company do on the next play? They go right after him. Right after him. Touchdown Rams. I thought that was that. I mean, it was an obvious thing to do. But they executed it. Yeah. And it was brilliant because he was having a good game. That was just a very, very smart move. Just another chapter in that game yesterday, which was just tremendous. He would have got it. He would have got it today if the Seahawks lost it. Take that to the bank. Yeah. Yeah. And I'm sure some people are wondering about the making, making that call. Because he was taunting them to see Stafford. Stafford was going after him. Oh, he's going after him. He ignored him on. He ignored him on. He knew what he was doing. Yeah. Yeah. You know, like you say a lot of times in hockey, do you make that call at this time? And not so sure about that. Yeah. But the whole thing with taunting is that you don't want the game to get out of hand. Exactly. Because something could happen from a physical point of view. Because somebody's going after somebody. And I just don't know if that was the time to call it.

12:18But you're right. He would have heard about it. Oh, big deal. If they had lost that game, it was so close. He made sure you were giving it to him on the bench. Yeah. On the sideline. Yeah. They were arguing with him. It seemed at that point. When I saw that, like the penalty was bad enough. And when I saw them arguing on the sideline. Yeah, exactly. The secondary, arguing with one. I thought it was over. Just because those are the moments that lead to a team falling apart. And they scored on the next play. But Seattle got its act back together and ends up winning 31-27. And off to the Super Bowl. They go. How are we doing on time? Right. Want to take a break? We've got time for highlights. Save that for another. Save it. Save it. Okay. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Absolutely. Anything else you want to talk about? Oh, okay. Well, we'll talk about a few other things. We should actually, let me just quickly because it has been made official now by the NHL players. Rusty. He's going to have a hearing for an illegal check to the head.

13:18They don't say phone or in person. It's that I don't know. Date and time to be determined. Rick had this like four hours ago. I'm just saying it's now being confirmed by the NHL players. What more confirmation do you want? Do you remember this veteran of cop headshot on a Ronik and Carolina? Yes. And the next day there was nothing. Nothing. Yes. So you know what? This is progress, guys, because this could have been nothing in their eyes too. But they're saying no. Rust is going to, he's definitely going through his head. Oh, yeah. I'm not. I'm not. I'm not. I'm not. I'm not. I'm not. I'm not. I'm not. I'm not. I'm not. You know, I mean he's just trying to get a guy out of the play. Like I don't, I don't. I guess. But it was just such an obvious check to the head. Ever. Which is also a chart. You see him. The many. And he's going to go to his elbows. Yeah. Not good. It's not even sneaky. It's just. I mean, not that I'm endorsing that. But I just don't know what, what's going to.

14:18What's going to? This is a veteran player. He kind of got it from two sides too, like the guy from behind. And the, uh, you okay? Yeah. You're sniffling there. issues the last couple of shows has a lot of people have noticed. I'm playing hurt. I'm 70% there. Well we thank God for that. DTBZ is it just me coming up in the 11 o'clock hour. Noodles is going to talk to us just after 11 o'clock. I thought Stuart Skinner was pretty good. He was. Yes today. I think he's won seven of his last eight starts out for the penguins. He's been good. So we'll talk to Noodles. He's from a gold tender. A boat what's happening in the national hockey gold tending wise. Maybe get Jamie's take on that gold tending fight last week. Oh great fight last big ride. The Twitter guy coming up later this hour and as mentioned as we teased earlier. Cocks are going to the Super Bowl. So we're going down to Seattle to talk about it from KGR sports radio and the Kraken hockey network in for an S. Thanks so much for tuning in. Folks hope you had a great weekend. I usually don't do I don't usually wear the teams that we cover but you know I'm not not doing it daily with those guys anymore and go C.O.X. It's good day in Seattle. Great day in Seattle to be honest with you and this is like we're deep. What is it? January 26th that we're still doing these weekly hits. That's a good thing. That's a really good thing. Usually you guys have kicked me to the curb by now so that's good. Well what a time for Seattle sports Mariners. No I'm serious and like no I know I can see you. Crack it aside but

17:23we were just talking about this and the Mariners you know one win away from advancing in the Major League Baseball playoffs and now this you must be very busy. It's it's awesome. I mean you guys know what it's like I mean if you're talking sports for a living and the teams are doing well it's it's great. It's everyone's excited that listen the best thing about this is the the city you know last night our neighborhood is a great example of this. Our next door neighbors had tons of people over we my wife and I had a bunch of people were mostly mostly the youngins the recent college grads. I mean it's just it brings it brings people together sports. This is the beautiful thing about sports. It brings people together and man do we not need that right now at least in our country like we just need that unification and and that that that camaraderie so yeah our neighborhood was crazy last night fireworks going off we went next door and hung out with them and vice versa and it was just it was just fun man it's just it's winning and that type of stuff it's what sports are all about and yeah I know people like to say well

18:24you guys like well on the negative and that's great for you and listen the best thing is I think you guys would agree either be really good or be really bad yeah that's that's the way it is and the crack it by the way the last time the Seahawks and the Mariners were both in the playoffs together that was also the year the crack and made the playoffs there you go there you go there you go it's but it's bound to happen was that all things considered I know it's only been one season was that Sam Donnell's best game as a Seahawk and maybe coming at a time when people didn't expect his best games as a Seahawk I think Donnelly the thing was is that yeah I mean it was only be for no other reason if I look at the numbers it was the biggest game yeah he's playing in the NFC championship game you know his one playoff appearance before this season was a Minnesota was a disaster but mostly because of the people in front of him especially the offensive line and not him but yeah I was and I think what it was the last drive last offensive drive for Seattle ended in a punt near midfield but it also resulted in a couple first downs along the way and that was

19:25the most important drive he's had in his career now he may have a more important one here in two weeks in 13 days but they needed to get a couple of first downs and he did that with some help from Ken Walker and Cooper Cup but he did that he directed that offense to what they needed to do got to the mid got to midfield and made LA use their timeouts I think most important game best game certainly because of the magnitude of it and that's that's how you judge NFL quarterbacks right or even college quarterbacks the magnitude of the game and how they perform in that circumstance I don't remember you telling us the Seahawks were going to the Super Bowl before this season they didn't make the playoffs last year how did this happen in your eyes I think if we would have yeah I mean Ryan let's go check the tape no you did nobody did nobody no no no I I do know this I did say that I thought that they would be an 11 or 12 win team and get to the playoffs Super Bowl is a totally different deal I there's I don't think any of us predict is Super Bowl

20:26but you know keep in mind they're coming they're coming off a 10 win season last season yeah right and and so it's not like they were coming from nowhere they had a 10 win season last year they missed the playoffs by a tiebreaker I thought they were improved in fact I do know this we're talking about you know in the summer a little bit and even a training camp I thought they were much improved a whole year with Ernest Jones is your middle linebacker JSN we didn't see him blowing up like he did but you know the addition of Cooper Cup to kind of solidify that room and bring some stability JSN Ken Walker a healthy duo of tackles crossing and Lucas or two offense tackles weren't healthy in the 10 win season two years ago I thought they would be better Super Bowl yeah I'd love to tell you that I said I thought that but I don't think he missed it I think it's the two longest two teams are both what 60 to one or plus to make the Super Bowl has never happened at the start of the season so if the Seahawks what a loss yesterday how is reek woolen feeling today probably pretty bad yeah probably pretty bad I've got listen I

21:29I've gotten mixed feelings on that to be honest with you he shouldn't of he should have just walked away it's the NFC championship game and you see the video here is the NFC championship game it's a crazy crowd these two teams don't like each other there's a report that came out today the assistant coaches got into a scuffle in the elevator when they played here a couple of weeks ago at half time because they share an elevator going downstairs and so they're and the and the Seattle players were aware of that there was a lot going on and if you kind of watch that video like there's two or three guys so here's the thing I would just ask this was reek woolen chirping and no one on the Rams bench was saying anything to him you could see Stafford talking to him Stafford chirp right out of him yeah I mean it's just it's so like it's one of those plays if you don't throw a flag on a passenger appearance it's obvious that's a greege is on the officials part if you don't throw a flag there nobody blinks like just nobody blinks it no it's not again

22:3070,000 people NFC championship game made a huge but maybe the biggest play you've made in your career and you've got Stafford chirpen make Vade chirpen two assistant coaches right there on the field and then they start yelling at the official and he caves and gives them the penalty if you let early in the game Kobe Turner the defense alignment when it make Mike McDonald chirped it in on the sidelines right and and nothing I it he has to walk away I will give you that he has to walk away he has to I I just also think come on man like that's that's also the fishing Clay Martin was seven and all refereeing officiating Rams games by the way before last night oh wow yeah look at the penalty differential in that game you figure that one out so man you're really are flying those Seattle colors today that's a great shot we we also live in the era I you know I have my I have my clone grid on my show every Wednesday and every now and then we bring up Bill Levy the late Bill Levy and Super Bowl 38 and what happened in that game with Matt Asselbeck getting called for a block in the back quarterback getting called

23:31for a block in the back and all the Phantom calls that happened in that game so we are a little sensitive here just a little sensitive yeah I'm but so I'm sure as NHL officials you don't like who like probably like Kelly Sutherland you know a little Kelly or somebody like that's probably guys you don't like so yeah that's true yeah I like Kelly's good guy so but you know could I just have them in a big game like the Seahawks have been in recently just so you know 15 years I don't a couple of years anyway yeah I don't well they were that was in the bubble though right so it's been a while I get it 24 2024 yeah yeah we knew we're there it's not that not Rick it's not that long ago but I'm talking to suit Stanley Cup final big game uh yeah well we we uh yeah it was a big game uh listen bottom line is this they got somewhere that nobody expect than they would get but also I think what we also saw yesterday and I think we talked about this last week the two best teams the NFL played yesterday in Seattle yeah big time and and if Chicago would have found a way to beat the Rams week before I would have said the same thing with

24:33two best teams played in Seattle yesterday I think that was readily apparent I know a lot of people saying all the snow in Denver it didn't snow till midway through the fourth quarter like come on or late third quarter I guess it was right so like it's not like that well these two teams that played yesterday the best in the league Chicago's probably number three uh now we'll see if that matters when they play in a couple weeks but boy the the clinics at those two teams and those two offenses put on yesterday was impressive yeah uh John Schneider is he available for the connoisseur by any chance yeah yeah we'll send him up there right now first first NFL GM to go to multiple super bowls with a different head coach and a completely different roster yeah now that's a rebuilding it's remarkable what he did and he took a lot of grief guys a lot of grief for the Geno Smith uh Sam Darnell decision right going with Geno getting rid of Geno and and he took grief when he got rid of Russ as well right and I think you know his strength seems to be you guys have been doing this for a long time like I have I as a GM or a personnel guy maybe the strength the biggest strength in attribute you can have is knowing when to you know just like Roger said

25:37when to walk away right and and he's done that he did with Richard Sherman he did with with Marshawn he did with all these guys over the years and you know it's hard because you know you want to be loyal but it's a business and you have to know when to walk away we're lucky here in Seattle we're very lucky I think you know the two guys that were both named executives of the year and Jerry DePoto with the Mariners and John Schneider with the Seahawks have just done a remarkable job but DePoto I got to tell you that I have time for a funny story hockey related with DePoto I want to hear more about the elevator but go ahead yeah no kidding well Mike Silver wrote about the athletic you can read it there so I go go um no so we we do uh the Mariners do a thing every year with um they do a kind of a happy hour off the off the record meet and greet DePoto Jared Justin Hollander who's the GM and and Dan Wilson and guys and we do it down at the they have a own a restaurant a bar down by the the ballpark and they invite a bunch of media members down there and and you kind of mingle around and again it's kind of off the record but just getting background stuff is good so DePoto's there was DePoto's a huge crack in fan he's a season ticket holder right like a big big hockey fan and he walks up to me and I'm I'm sitting there and I'm like and

26:40we've had a couple back and forth over the years about baseball and but he walks up to me and he says yeah what's going on with Jacob Molanson why do they send him down I don't get it and he just hurts and I'm like I looked at him I said he goes I texted Ronnie Francis I'm not sure what the you got to play some young guys you got Molanson gave you some juice and I'll he's just going on we spent 20 minutes talking about the crack and wow five minutes later I get a notice on my phone from our peer guys hey we're gonna announce in five minutes Molanson just got called back up so I walked over and showed it to him he's like good they should have sent him down the first place and I'm just like this is classic like the GM of the baseball team critical of what's going on with the hockey team in a fun way I should mention in a fun way but it was good I like he and Ron are buddies he goes the draft every year like he sits in the draft room for the crack in every year because I and and I think I think Ronnie's yeah and I think and I think Ron's been in there with with the Mariners to baseball and hockey are such similar drafts right you're drafting guys that are young a lot of times and usually you're projecting guys are what two or three years away so there are a lot of similarities between the two especially in draft day but yeah I had I thought I thought

27:44you guys yesterday or last week when he was talking to me about yeah I don't know what's going on I keep Molanson up he leaves the team and hits it I'm like to put I said Jerry we're thinking of the same thing like we're on the same page and then I said you know it's funny because I'm there's probably been times that you know some of us me have questions to be your moves good laugh out of that but yeah yeah as well as our hockey hockey baseball related story for the week for you I think the connoxure consulting baseball people when they make their drafts as well well they might want to they might want to check with the photo because he's got a pretty good eye for it you know like he sounds like a hockey nerd he I'm telling you he's a season ticket holder he's it almost every single game it's crazy yeah he's a huge hockey fan and him and his family they've got seats up in and we see him all the time yeah it's I think it's awesome the teams down here really do a good job of supporting each other I will say that they really do they've done a great job the the presidents of the teams get along well Kevin Martinez the Mariners Chuck Arnold the Seahawks and you know Victor and Todd and everybody with the crack and so it's it's a nice little synergy they

28:44have with these teams down here which is nice yeah we've had Jerry on the show back of the old the funny station and Jerry was a gentleman just it was great great to have on we were at least the time yeah he's only it's his only problem is sometimes he says he says too much that's all you know like that's good for us I wouldn't be we like guys like that no no problem at all well we'll get your take on the patriots and and see ox next week okay we're going to have all you know next week right yeah yeah is that in the budget Ryan is that in the budget yeah okay okay yeah right give you time to to wander that hoodie and wear it next week okay well you can't watch it now you can't watch oh that's true too sorry yeah yeah yeah I'm gonna make sure I mention that to my my lovely bride I can't you can't watch it now wait everyone wore the same everyone in our house was one of the exact same thing for the divisional games the last four weeks of this season so yeah it's uh yeah it's a no wash uh no wash policy in place what is this 1950 only the wife does the laundry well you're gonna hear about this yeah right he's right down stairs okay oh wow I don't worry I got I got enough things going on buddy relax all right all right

29:52yeah fun you still love me right yeah that's of course sweetie I didn't hear I didn't hear are you going down Santa Santa Clara by the way no no no no I wouldn't want to leave my wife and kids behind no yeah you got laundry to do yeah all right Ian we're way we're way over here all right well it's a stunner all right I'll talk to you soon that's pretty about the clock yeah lots of fun thanks Ian in front SKJR sports radio crack and honky network Seahawks over the Rams 31 27 and they're playing can you believe this the patriots in in the Super Bowl on Sunday February 8th down in Santa Clara home of the San Francisco 49ers a brick will introduce the poll question we're already getting some traction on it yeah modeling dog poll question that's next more on the connox donny dollar the team lunchtime looking for the ultimate Vancouver Island getaway head to beautiful parksville and experience the Bayside Ocean Front Resort where every stay feels

30:53like a vacation you'll never forget from sunrise walks on the beach to sunsets on the patio Bayside puts you steps from the sand with ocean views in every direction splash in the indoor and outdoor pools hit the fitness center then relax with a handcrafted cocktail at the Ocean Front Restaurant in Lounge whether it's date night a family trip or a corporate event Bayside is your perfect year roundest game book your getaway now at 250 2488 23 your island adventure starts here okay just before we get to the modeling dog poll question we're going to set up the modeling dog poll question by showing you the highlights from yesterday's game yesterday after news game yeah at Rogers arena connox and penguins and then another highlight after that if you want to call it that Derek we're good rock and roll my friend Rogers arena Vancouver BC picking up one nothing penguins midway through the second Ben Kindle pride of Coquitlam and Bernabé

31:56Winter Club makes a two zip in front of around what 150 family members and friends look at that and the Kendellian show continues later in that middle stands up Justin Brazo tease it up for Ben second of the game 10 to the what a shot 10 to the season for the 18 year old three nothing pins in the road white with the black and gold trim early third period connox attack of Andrew Kane circling in behind Stewart Skinner his past makes its way to Jake depressed top shelf for mum keeps the peanut butter connox on the board it's 3-1 his 13th six minutes left still 3-1 Philip Peronik left point his shot off Teddy Bluger and it the former penguin making it a one goal hockey game it's 3-2 on Griffith's way then Kevin Lanken and pulled empty Vancouver cage 50 seconds left Brock Besser with the open side but Stewart Skinner dives across and mark Andre Flurry like fashion he's one seven of his last eight starts penguins over the connox

32:58three two connox hosts the sharks on Tuesday like it is said Stewart Skinner fitting in comfortably for the penguins has won seven of his last eight some of the pressure off him I would imagine and it helps out Arthur C. Lofts too Donnie you know what not a lot of pressure on him they got a veteran goal center they're doing well and hey the penguins right now are in a playoffs spot yeah you can't complain with their goaltening right now okay so after that chance I think if you watch the game although a lot of people were watching the sea ox game right at the end connox scrambling around in front of Stewart Skinner and this happened we rolled a video if you don't mind Derek Brock Besser taking an elbow to the head we talked about it earlier and elbow to the head from Brian Rust who from what I know is a known for this sort of thing but that was vicious yeah that was nasty yeah at least predecessor goes over and talks

33:59to Rust but that's about it and I know you and a lot of people wanted to see more of a response from the connox how many times do we get a text every day to this show every day connox are too soft no pushback they don't stick up for teammates they need more Canadians okay look I understand the timing there's two seconds left games over I get all that stuff but how do you build the culture of defending your teammates if you never do it if you never do it you got to start somewhere right now there is no team sitting there going geez we got to go to Vancouver boy are they a mean nasty tough team connox have five wins at home in 24 home games they are not known around the league as a tough place to play Vancouver we we they've gone after tough guys they when they they called Donnie for Tanner Geno too expensive they checked in on Brandon DeHame too expensive they checked in on Brandon Dillon the great Surrey kids we're going back a bit yeah

35:00but what I'm trying to say is they have checked in on toughness on July 1 but it's always too expensive not sorry can't do it can't do it can't do it they've tried but the underlining problem is it's not a tough team to play against they're not hard to play against there's not enough great not enough you need guys to stick up for each other in the game of hockey that's the bottom line just to play Devils advocate this was at the end of the game over do you expect this sort of response from Elias Patterson who who's not known as somebody he'll defend his team that's the last guy I expect to say to Ryan Ross hey buddy what are you doing I don't care if Elias Patterson said that doesn't matter to me I need a bigger tougher guy to go up to rust and say hey that's one of our best corner was out there but a lot of players might not have been aware of what happened we we've seen no counter fight but I don't care I don't want Elias Patterson to go up to Ryan Russ I need somebody else to go up to him and say hey hold on a second I'd be okay with that

36:03I we've had what's he going to do what's Patterson going to do we've had a couple of people what do you mean it was he going to do you know how many fights as Patterson we've had a few people he's not I'm just playing Devils advocate here we've had a couple of people text into the Bayside Ocean Front Resort in box and say what about what put Coleson was up to last week not known necessarily as a fighter defending Conor McDavid by dropping the gloves and fighting so there there there's that so I I think if if you're somebody who's a season tickle holder or somebody who wants who who follows this team on a regular basis I mean this season is lost I get it but if you can't be a talented team at least be a tough tough team like it people talk left and right well text in to us email every day and they bring up 2024 what's the door off and how nobody you know pushed around the connox at that time they had Ian Cole as well and at least they they

37:04seem to have and they were also much better than they are now but they had some somewhat of an identity something that Vancouver fans hadn't seen for a long long time and here's another one for you don't yeah they're going to be dead last they're going to get a kid like Gavin McKenna or Ivan Stenberg that might play next year in Vancouver you're going to be young you're in a rebuild do you want your young kids to be beat up every game you got to have some toughness in this lineup at some point all this leads to a Waddling dog pull question experience one of Victoria's iconic destination sleep sip stock up all in one legendary spot the dog come sit and stay at the Waddling dog today Rick Ryan get her up the Waddling dog a public question what was your reaction to the connox lack a response to the rust hit on Brock Bessery yesterday look at this 582 votes 65% say they're too soft and that's exactly what our text line says every day mad the game was over 35% when was the last time the connox had a tough team oh we knew we just talked about 2024 when

38:09there was there was some edge there ends the door off but before that they they tried to remember the Derek Dorset and then there was the tough guy they brought him from Calgary who concussion issues furland they've had some projects that didn't work out in terms of you know bringing in tough guys okay I'll I'll go back to the teams that went to the Stanley Cup final exactly 1982 Tiger Williams and a lot of edge Harold steps run to warm Jim Nill there was a lot of edges there was edge tough edge on that team 1994 there were full of tough players agitating players light like Jeff Cardinal Sergio Mameso oh Mameso didn't let anybody take liberties with with his teammates there was a lot there 2011 you didn't necessarily well Mike Gillis didn't want them fighting but that team had a lot of edge and they did it they got under the opponent's skin burrows and Kessler there there was a real edge to that team you can say what you want about

39:09the new age of hockey and all that it's still hockey and that old school approach still works to some extent so I get where people are coming from when they say get an identity try to the very least if you can't be better skill wise at least be tough Donnie you can't go far in the playoffs without size and grit you can't you can't you just can't you can't go look at the NHL teams that win the Stanley Cup you know even if they don't have 10 fighters they're they've got a whole slew of guys 6 4 to 20 who make you hard to play against okay how we do for time I got some business more on the Wattland dog pull question a later and we'll top of the hour we have Jamie McClendon oh yeah and his take on my Stewart Skinner what's going on around the national hockey league Tuesday Able auctions will sell the content says tomorrow Ryan of a closed cabinet shop with all major equipment manufactured in 2023 and in near new

40:13condition Wednesday Able auctions will sell 40 mini excavators and tractors over two million dollars in building supplies cars trucks forklifts and a whole lot more for information on these two auctions or dozens of other auctions go to Able auctions dot see it to get your business assets sold in auction email sales at Able auctions dot see a sales at a b l e auctions dot see a noodles top of the hour up next big ride donny dollar the team on check guess the head of big ride the critter guy this is unsigned in the base side ocean front resort inbox please sign those texts and emails we want to give you credit folks uh... even if you going after one of us Jimmy built this team lily soft so don't blame EP 40 for not fighting with the Pittsburgh player i think it's rich donny going after peterson who's never had a fight in his life for not standing up for best ride over call uh... best for ever standing up for

41:15anyone in the past either one neither one of them are fighters i guess part of my opinion is colored by and i'll go back in the past again which i often do uh... twenty eleven and i often wonder what would have happened in that Stanley Cup final had Daniel Sedin and i'm not knocking him for a second but what if he just set up you know he what didn't allow Brad Martian to do what he did you know using his head as a punching bag a speed bag and we saw we all saw it and you just wonder what would have happened if if you would have dropped the gloves and even if you lose what would have happened so that might that might color my uh... opinion i'm not sure that's fair but i can't help it uh... go back there big right uh... we got a boatload of photos over the weekend uh... from people this surprise mr. anti fighting didn't have mr. anti fighting take on this we hasn't seen slap shot i've seen slap shot i i i i mean i voted on the pole that the end it was the end of the game i don't know what what everybody wants in this situation the game was literally over

42:17so is the season so is the season right sure that's what a lot of people but i in my opinion watching the video the only person that even recognized what had happened is petters is petters like what are guys supposed to do if they don't see it but when he's on the ice with his head down like that okay at some point you got to figure out okay our guys now we jump into that as how do you set a call me look at rain shorty and no idea rain thought you got high stick but they're five hundred dollars raise on the ice this isn't the be on end all but what do you think people's reaction would be toward silly as petterson had he done something more physical they could have built a statue for him today and that's my my different type of thinking then what you have i understand my thinking is gone or the days about these guys you're bringing up that are like you know knuckle drain like Ryan Reeves is that's going to be the end of Ryan Reeves there's not another Ryan Reeves coming to leak to me it's more you can build a good culture by

43:17having things like alias petters and going after Brian rust yesterday but he didn't but that but i'm saying though that goes beyond having a guy in ruster because all those game names you mentioned Rick Dylan all those guys no disrespect none of them are on the ice in that scenario yesterday okay but let me let me ask you one question why did they pick up the phone and call Tanner Geno's agent last year why because they recognize you don't have a Tanner Geno type guy yes but again Tanner Geno is not playing the final 10 minutes of doing really good by the way in Boston you know what he does Ryan he's a regular player he's not a fourth line guy playing two minutes of game he defends teammates okay he just brought it up but again you're not I mean I'm not asking anything in a game I'm sorry it's not happening donny just brought it up I'm not asking for a goon who plays two minutes again the mask for a guy Connor McDavid takes a hit the silly pot Colson doesn't think twice goes to visit in the middle of a game you're two different scenarios I'm sorry you're right so I was lost like a lot of people are saying and a lot

44:22of people agree with you see end of the game you know what do you what do you what he's supposed to do on the other hand there are other people who say that look the seasons lost anyway sure but those people are watching a replay and having that emotion watch the game as it happened I'm sorry nobody including the penguins had any idea what had happened to Brock Bessler you just said you said it would make he that they would build a statue yes absolutely because he does something out of control are out those people are out to lunch then that well no because I said he's hey hold it Carlson saw it you could tell by Carlson's reaction that he did see I don't think he's right he's facing watch watch Carlson right here you trying to tell me he didn't see that I don't think oh my goodness right there he saw he right there he goes after a different player Ryan for you to say Carlson ever saw that is you're out to lunch bottom line is how do you I'm just saying how do you how do you start a culture of defending teammates when you never do it right you've got players like Tanner Jeno or Ryan Reeves I think other teams no matter the situation

45:25whether they're on the ice or not thinking that they're going to play them maybe later in the season wouldn't do that sort of thing I guess you think it's okay everything's okay right now the way they are like I think to be honest team toughness is issue 95 right I saw I think I I'm sorry not according to money puck the connoxer 13th and hits given in the NHL there's 13th yeah and yeah and 95% of their hits sure sure what we're administered by a player is not there anyway absolutely sure sure bad that's a bad stat that's a bad stat go look at the forwards now and hits after every game with Sherwood gone yeah okay it's not good it's not good okay so you you're all learning about guys around the league here's one guy that's on the damn team he hasn't thrown a hit I don't think all year maybe five if Andrew Kane I'm sorry he's not a physical presence at all they haven't but you they have they do have a guy you guys claim they don't have a guy in the roster they have a guy he throws a hit here in there he was drafted fourth overall to be a goon that guy in the end it seems like it sure but it was part of his game at one point I

46:33just look at I look at I don't look this is this is reaching for the stars and I get that but I look at Florida not this year I'm talking about you know the three years previous when they went to three Stanley Cup for that's a tough team oh yeah they have a perfect blend of skill it's still it's still you know I know as much as you don't want to hear this I think you guys it's not okay again this this team is not 30 second because they're not tough enough that's not that's not why they're 30 second in the national league but you hear what I said like I I I get that but okay let me just start over again they don't have an identity and I think it's easier to get tougher than it is to get to get skilled that's going to take a while but at least have some balls out there like like I like I'm not necessarily I'm not even talking about best I'm talking about the in general like do some to spark people spark people like they did in 2024 it was a draw off and I'll give you another one when you were allowed to

47:33bring free agents on July 1st before July 1st into your town for interviews you know who the connects brought in town Ryan Reeves he had a visit to Vancouver before he signed in Vegas all I'm saying is this club has identified tough guys in the past they just never have the ability to close deals with these guys that's the bottom line and then what happened Ryan Reeves went to Toronto Toronto telling you okay I'm just telling you factually he went to Toronto he went free living free living essentially said you should be out of the league which was clearly a mistake because he's fit in somewhat nicely in San Jose he's not even every night player in San Jose I just don't know but what I'd write I used to think he's there in San Jose yeah to protect the young kids thank you I just celebrate he's not even in the lineup every night and so what but why does he keep getting jobs though like I'm you know like I love that question answered I think and I think for me one of the reasons is because the not team like San Jose he feels a pretty important role

48:36they're not going to people aren't going to screw him out with McLeod celebrating probably are less likely to screw it's still part of the game sure again that's not why they're 30 second I'm sorry it's not I get that but do something do something give yourself an identity nobody rich right they have people come into Roger Zarina like they don't they don't get it all so you're telling me you're watching games this year at Roger Zarina and we've done shows the next day when we've come in and we've gone they've been ran out of the building they got five wins in 25 home game because they suck that's horrible they're not getting ran out of seeing their teams come in here and go holy god they push them around nothing wrong they're losing on the score is not losing any other way I get that Ryan well that you guys being a seem like they're forced around I don't like this seems to be just this is just bizarre the way you're how you're coming at this yeah what's wrong with the team being tougher what's wrong with that I'm just saying it doesn't move the neat sure fine you know what this office isn't moved this all season bringing Ryan Reese trying

49:39gets a door off back next year they're 30 second like I saw what but oh you know what they look kind of scary what's good you don't understand the element again I just think that NHL now in 2026 is more built on a culture based toughness and not a player based yes okay so what do they have now when you talk about that that type of culture right now they don't have a culture right now it's okay to have a tougher team okay Ryan the element of toughness we're not saying get 10 goons but have some that element needs to be there it's okay there yes that's what you don't understand that but there's many things Rick not there so add the toughness sure go ahead this draft don't draft Gavin McKenna draft the biggest guy in the class so you get Gavin McKenna and you don't protect him what happened thank you but again you guys keep bringing up this protecting thing how many times have they not like there's not been night and night at work so why did the shards get

50:42the shards get Ryan Reese then bingo again so if he's so vital to their toughness he protect that guy he hasn't played every night so why is that like this because he's not good enough yeah they need they know it's probably he's a lineup base that's when he gets into and they see somebody who might take advantage of Mac Columbus in goes Ryan Reese Columbus that he's he had the biggest fight of the year no doubt about that I'm not going to argue that how many times the players and somebody's mentioned this in our in our inbox here how many times the players pick on the young guys in Columbus I get to be honest I have not watched the Columbus Blue Jacket's game so I couldn't tell you and if anybody tells you everybody yeah congratulations you got a better life half watching Blue Jacket's game so I couldn't tell you when Zodoroff and Cole were here they don't have there was an element of toughness oh you want me to lie hey yeah the Columbus Blue Jacket's tough I don't watch Blue Jacket's games I got to have one of the toughest guys they he just beat Reeves up yes but yeah it's nice to have that Ryan sure no doubt I just and you're right in that you can't have the knuckle dragger four times in barely place I get all that there's nothing on

51:45it being tough yeah getting tough yes absolutely but I got hockey absolutely Jamie McClendon next Donnie Dulley the team I check hey everyone it's Donnie and Dulley and we're looking to partner with your company we have several packages and price points to fit your budget and spread the word about your company on the show in our podcast and on social media we'd love to get involved with your company called 250 880 2282 or email advertise at checkmedia.ca It is one day and all of our guests today including Jamie McClendon standing by sponsored by Besont Motors Boxing Week has been extended of Besont Motors get huge gills to start off the year stop by their dealership located at 16315 Fraser Highway in Surrey or check them out online at Besont Motors B.A.S.A.N.T Motors dot com Jamie thank you for doing this sir how are you

52:48not too bad how you guys doing today good we got Jamie got the picture here there you go there is looking good as always how you guys doing today very well very well and I know you are judging by your smile I got to ask you Jamie it's been a while but you're a gold tender but brosky versus the Delkavik your thoughts on that gold tender fight we saw recently I kind of loved it I mean you know a little saddle the spice to the game you know gold tender Bob went all the way down I mean you might as well oblige you know if you're in a Delkavik now the biggest thing for me is getting your glove off because you saw it Ned was trying to push with it because your glove is a lot of times guys cinch it on so it's it's not something you could just shake and and it falls off so I took a little bit for them to get going but I thought it was fun nobody got hurt and you know it added to the the drama of the night I've been in a few little dust ups where I've had to skate the whole whole length and all of that fun stuff but nobody seems to unless you're like remember Brent Johnson

53:50and Rick DePietro Johnson like broken broke DePietro's orbital bone with like a a left hook Brent Johnson was pretty tough I went to mess mess with one of the big guys that I played against you know the Sean Berks and all of Colesons back in the day but everybody else so Dan Clucci was another one you got witnessed it in Vancouver I will say this one night I was playing with the islanders and my goalie partner got pummeled by Clucci I think it was Tommy Salo and that was tough because Clucci was looking for anybody and guys like Clucci Ray Emory guys like that they were tough enough to fight players so that's a that's another level of toughness those guys and with all due respect to you Dan Clucci off the ice might have been one of the nicest people I've ever met but on the ice completely different yep unbelievable you know what and the same thing Ron Hextal was my first goalie partner if you ever taxi off the ice you wouldn't even know they're the same person but on the ice very intense you know perotious competitors but Dan

54:57Clucci is an unbelievable person we have a few mutual friends still and great guy but yes tough as nails on the ice and what a great competitor I know I think people in Vancouver whether they were polarizing or not I really liked them well and the other thing Jamie we're going to get taxable this but speaking of former Vancouver goalies and former leaf goalies who were a tough Felix Potfant surprised everybody in a fight with with Ron Hextal we found out that Felix's dad I believe was a boxer and taught the kid a thing or two. Felix was up and yeah listen you know Hexty was a guy who was a gamer you're not going to win every fight he asked Ryan Reeves Ryan Reeves every way to the NHL and you know Matthew Olivier got him against the sharks I think it was a couple of weeks ago and I loved Olivier's comments just saying hey every every guy gets tagged and showed a lot of respect but same thing Hexty was a tough gold tender but Felix was as well okay so meanwhile you worked Ottawa 7-1 win over Vegas how nice this is a bit off the subject but

56:02how nice was it to see all things considered Linus Allmark back in the senators you know from given what he's been through it was really good last night there hasn't been a lot of great story lines coming out of Ottawa and you know we're I'm a broadcast partner with them I cover their games and you know there's they were I was in Nashville with them last week and they were up three nothing in last five three you know stuff like that there's been some poor you know some tough nights the cover last night was a field good story right from the drop of the puck right right through the end of the game Linus coming back to me that's a step ladder of his comfort hopefully we see him play this week but you know given that he went public with his mental health struggles it's it's nice to see an outpouring of support and you know the fact that he was just in a jersey yesterday you know I you know it was I was asked about it and I said you know the the best case scenario was that he's you know he's in a jersey he's he's around the guys feeling good

57:03he's been practicing with them so I think you're going to see him play sooner than later but again coming back to it on the ice the the senators have been struggling they needed a game like yesterday to kind of flush the system where everything went right for them. Hey Jamie has been over two weeks the Thatcher Demp go injury he's talked to doctors out of town there's still no definitive what is wrong would you would you shut this guy down for the rest of the year. I mean given where Vancouver is in the standings and stuff yes and the reason being is if you want to protect an asset you've got to get it back to a hundred percent and and have no even if he believes he's a hundred percent I think you've got to first and foremost I'm not a doctor so I don't know the the exact diagnosis but they've got to figure out exactly why this is he comes back you know it comes back and he looks good and then all of a sudden he gets injured again you've got to get him to a hundred percent and now I wouldn't say this is probably bad at me to say but if they were in a playoff spot you're going maybe you can tough

58:04it out type of thing or feel that you know maybe bridge to get there but right now we're Vancouver's that where I think we all believe what they're going to be doing a retool rebuild however you want to praise it you know it seems quite quite simple to shut him down make sure he's healthy and then go back at it next year with a hundred percent that's your demo I would take that and and I would bet that he's a top tier goal tender as long as he's feeling comfortable and feeling good about his game but you know to see him leave again and to be battling I'm sure it's very frustrating not only physically for him but mentally you know the athlete wanting to play it's always tough when superstars leave a city uh Mitch Martyr returned to Toronto what did you think of the reaction he got I liked it and and I'll tell you why I was I'm not a person I'd never gone to a sporting event and chewed cheered loudly or booed I just I don't know why I'm not trying to be a hero I just sit there

59:08and enjoy the game regardless of what's going on but there are fans who pay a lot of money who feel the right to either cheer or boo that's their right and so I was talking to a lot of leaf fans leading up to it and there was a you know a few of them that were quite based that said I'm going to boo the hell out of them but when there is a tribute video I'm going to thank him for the nine years that he gave us yeah because it was great hockey in there so I I think there was from people that I've talked to that were in the building during the tribute video there was lots of cheers there were people that stood up and showed some respect and some support but from the minute that he stepped on the ice and warm up right to the end of the game uh he was booed every time he was on the ice and touched the puck and that's listen fandom you're allowed to do that I don't think there was anything disrespectful about it I'm sure it was tough for him and his family and to be honest I'm sure he was glad that it was over with uh he got a little taste of it what it was going to be like in Vegas uh fans traveled down there it was loud from what I understand but

1:00:13it didn't raise to the level of disrespect and keep in mind Vegas punished them so there wasn't much to cheer for a leaf fan that night okay uh Jamie three goals three assists Saturday in ebberton versus washington what do you notice and he has his critics but what do you notice when Evan Bouchard is at his best his offensive instincts are as good as anybody's in the league and I'm I'm talking kale McCarrer Quinn Hughes I mean that this guy now again his his his a game or a plus game is as good as anybody's I think that we've seen in modern day and I'm talking all the big boys you name at the ray borx all of that you know I read a stat today like Bobby or did that with the six weeks tighter so we the I think the biggest challenge for Evan Bouchard is what makes him great is what frustrates people his poise with the par his poise um it's almost

1:01:18looks like he's not trying his effortless uh ability to make plays but on the negative side if when he's effortless it looks like he's not trying and you're given the puck away so to me that's the biggest challenge is you know what makes him great is also what makes him frustrating for his detractors because he'll try a ten bell play at the blue line and turn it over and and they go in on a breakaway and score and he's got the look on his face like yeah I'm gonna try that again next shift so have at it when he's one of those guys who's very frustrating but I think when if you're an Evan Bouchard supporter what you do is I think the great outweighs the bad and when you have a stable partner in at home when he's playing to his best now keep in mind at the start of the season at home was not healthy and not and did not look good so when he doesn't have a stable partner you know Charlie Honey DePaul coffee that type of stuff uh heronic to when he was when heronic was playing well like things drop off a little bit so I

1:02:23I think Bouchard is unbelievable as far as his offensive instincts but his defensive game struggles just like Ray Bork's just like a lot of the the top tier defense defense defenseman over the years uh Ray Bork I believe his nickname was giveaway ray in Boston so live live with live with the great because there is some bad there's no perfect player so I think Evan Bouchard's a special player and we saw it on display Saturday night he was the best player on the ice and that 97 was on the ice with him and he was not crazy Evanton Kid here boy do you go old school there bringing up the hoodie coffee partnership from back in the day so then that's where I went to I went to Hughes and heronic because when heronic first arrived in Vancouver I believe for the first four months they were analytically the best pairing you've seen in years type of thing and and and then heronic injuries and I think it's played dipped off not Hughes's but you need

1:03:29somebody I've marked with thought to Eric Carlson then I'll go there in Ottawa reference yeah no howdy coffee works for me I'm old like you I'm I'm a lot older than you Jamie I understand you it took a while for you to join it's not took a while but you put yourself into the snow yeah the flight from Ottawa to Toronto it's crazy back east right now isn't it it is and I always tease my Toronto friends because I think it was like the late 90s where they called in the army just to dig people out I grew up in that and that felt like a Tuesday so you know what lots of snow and obviously flights canceled even flights that were coming in from the US so usually I fly in on us the day of the game to Ottawa but I had to fly out Saturday night every flight was cancelled except for the 1am so I was a late night in a quick turnaround I was able to get back today even though I was delayed but now I've got to get out on the ATV I don't know if I told you guys but I have a pretty big driveway and I had somebody over the past years that would do my driveway with

1:04:33a big winch on the front and they ran over my tree and did a thousand dollars damage and then that they didn't do it and I had to show it on the camera so I now have fired my snowman snowperson and I need TV with a with a four foot you know scoop on the front so my son and I put ski masks on and we we go and do it ourselves so I'm heading out to do that before my show big driveway ATV how much are we paying Jamie anyway oh big driveway not enough well talking a couple weeks that way thanks for having me guys Jamie McClendon snowbound Toronto safe travels by the way Jamie our thanks to noodles TSN Jamie we're way way over we'll reintroduce the the poll question maybe continue our argument from earlier Donnie Dulley our discussion from earlier discussion Donnie Dulley the team watch out Donnie and Donnie the team is supported by Abel auctions dot c a closing your business we can help

1:05:35Abel auctions specializes in helping British Columbia based business owners close their business and sell their assets in a timely orderly manner online events for everything from machine shop and manufacturing auctions to industrial equipment retail inventories or any other type of business assets Abel auctions can help for a free confidential consultation on getting your business assets sold please email sales at abel auctions dot c a that's sales at a b li auctions dot c a Wattling dog poll question experienced one of Victoria's iconic destination sleep sip stock up all in one legendary spot the Wattling dog come sit and stay at the dog today Rick Ryan did her up the Wattling dog a bubble question though what was your reaction to the connects lack of response to the rush to Brian Rust hit on Brock Vestor last night 66% say hey it connects are way too soft bot 34% say yeah you know what the game was over 800 votes

1:06:41ready starting to hop and pop on a Monday morning and we've had a lot of reaction since our discussion yeah with Ryan just for the top of the hour did you have anything in big ride the Twitter guy today I always do some subjects no no I got torpedoed that's fine by the way the penguins out hit the conox by two hits last night by what two hits 2725 what's your point what's your point that is such a reach no it's not I'm just saying how many of the hits and inbox how many they're getting run out of the building night in night out on the hit count and fights and whatever and I just don't I don't see that happening correct me if I'm wrong I just don't I don't see that happening last night again they hit totals close I will say this and by the way there's more to entertainment than goals and toughness does lead to some entertainment if if you ask me and I don't think you take that into consideration I will say this though they can I say lost what

1:07:4313 of 14 their last four games have all been one goal games including the win rare win over Washington for a lot of people the situation is near perfect given the situation they're in and that you know they're competitive in these games the games are pretty entertaining right but they're managing to not get that no I get enough points to you know move up to 31st or 30th and help helping their odds to yeah to win the draft lottery which probably won't happen anyway but it's not a bad formula right now I know I'm not everybody wants to hear it but that's that's no no no they honestly since they got blasted by the oilers yeah on hockey night obviously they only have the one win but it hasn't been embarrassing I mean they got embarrassed on back-to-back Saturdays yeah that was concerning and then the Adam foot Adam foot calling out his veterans I think that helped as well right they need to stop falling behind three nothing they did that Friday yesterday

1:08:45yeah yeah they're not good enough to play catch up on about that after the guy they're not good enough to play catch up hockey every game if Andrew can't if Andrew can but you wanted to talk about it I go in the building no I know all right yeah just throwing a name out there no okay I forgot what you were trying to get at his names out there one of the reason teams like him Donnie you've ever came look at his playoff experience I love some hey 97 games in the playoffs 55 points 32 games he has scored some big goals for Edmonton in the last two three four years hard scale size UFA you're starting to hear his name attached to winning teams teams I think they can go far in the playoffs this is one of the reasons why he's got a pretty good resume when it comes to his playoff production and Donnie he's got size he would fit nicely on a third line on a playoff team so I I think there is something there before he's got a no trade which kind of screws things up

1:09:49but anyways playoff teams are looking at him for those reasons well there's some really well respected insider yeah who uh last week I'm trying to get under your skin here yeah yeah stop Dallas and Colorado might be interesting yeah I just said and so he's a UFA you're not tied to him you there's no contractual obligation to Kane after this season he's a UFA Donnie go anywhere he wants on July 1st there's a lot of reasons to get a Vanderkane right now if you're some of the teams that are in the playoff hunt or want to go far let me get this in uh Vancouver golden eyes beat Seattle well yesterday in Denver one of those takeover tour games two three one so they've won two straight they'd be Toronto five nothing Thursday I'm sure you guys talked about that on Friday um Vancouver is at Minnesota on Sunday then an Olympic break yeah right it's not far away from through February then a five game home stand uh they play March 1st again against uh Toronto Vancouver Warriors I like my lacrosse guys they won 12 a Friday in Ottawa now

1:10:51four and two at Rochester Saturday then a host Rochester uh on wrestling night that's an early February if I'm not mistaken if I have the date here we'll get look at look at that you got it yeah it's uh next the sixth yeah I probably should have the Saturday Saturday coming up in Rochester four o'clock in Rochester in Rochester the next home game which is wrestling night uh it isn't next Saturday no no it's uh February 7th there you go sorry about that the Super Bowl weekend Mulaski's going to be all over again are you feeling about the Ottawa black bears the name yeah black bears I'm okay with it I like it what it's well the University of Maine also the black bears huh put that in your pipe Paul Korea's old team the Dave known as his old team Paul Korea played there yet you're right business yeah I'm surprising you with everything today I can say anything because he's not fully healthy not 100 mr. tough over here he's got a little cold and it wrecks his entire life you are if so you think uh a runny nose and a sore throat is okay it's come on

1:11:59dude it doesn't help your argument from earlier in the show right there's 500 jobs that you could do with the cold you could work at Costco with the cold you should it home people with the cold wait but when you're in our industry and you're you're killing yourself right now no that's not true you're sitting there talking so you think picking up wood or just uh you know home depot and you got sniffles that's different than this it's tougher here don't always do tougher you did not just say that because so you think working at home depot with the cold is is is is is is hard yes tougher than this oh yes I do are they on television rubbing their nose during the breaks that's the only hard part is that people can see you that's it people can see a B-Mac texted your Friday they didn't see yeah I know it happened three days the white stuff on my lip and I'm tell I'm telling you don't white stuff on the toilet that on the B-Max on he texted but listen you got to suck it up it's tough in our industry anyways yeah but you should you

1:13:03should too I am sucking it up I didn't take a day off I should have had a day off right what were Saturday and Sunday die the relaxation I had a good two days a lot of sleeping in the afternoon all right bc's number one sports memorabilia gaming shop is pastime sports check out the largest election a sports memorabilia undergraduate items trading cards where the picture is here right get the cut get the clip up there right there oh four locations metro town gilfer mall capital animal and look at this the largest store in language what a beautiful store if you can't visit them in store you can shop their massive collection featuring cards from any era online pastime sports dossier laptop in front of the laptop it's a box of clean next no it's an upper deck series why cards a card of the day haven't put this up up in a while but he was a recent pastime autograph he knows ho glender that's a sign knows ho glender rookie card that when he wore number 36 yeah yeah not 21 but 21 remember when he changed to 21 and nobody wanted him to do it

1:14:05because he showed a lot of promise yeah and 21 the Louis Harrison jigs yeah all due apologies to Mason Raymond and Yerke Lumay don't need to go through the list of 21s and no kind of history let's not just this is unsigned cry me a river Rick some of us has real jobs oh just you know what that you can't convince anybody that we have a tough job I trust me comparing guys lifting heavy so hold a second to you so sneezing and coughing while you're live on television's easy it's not easy entertaining but it appears into a guy fighting a cold at home depot lifting talents of what it's driving a forklift it's it's a late buddy when he sneezes and coughs he doesn't have to do it a part of this is harder than driving a forklift right now I got a cough I'm holding in I have to say this this isn't helping his early argue it's not about the connects having to get tougher it's not hey I did not take a day off I've had this since last Wednesday I'm sucking it up DTMZ next donny dolly the team on check

1:18:22round pick in 1997 you better not know this 58 goals and 103 points in 1998 what you wait year that's a second round we're in 97 and he played for Plymouth in the OHL represented Canada the world juniors won a silver medal and became lifelong friends with Roberto Luongo Luongo and him are tight rookie season with a connox 15 goals 30 points you spend a lot of time in the minor minors with a connox farm teams Donnie and Kansas City and Manitoba remember when they were in Kansas City Kansas City Scouts he's tight with Luongo he's tight with Luongo where's he from just can I can I can I if you tell me where he's from because I tell you my job is to make a tough one you not easy traded by the connox to Carolina along with Jan Halabic for defenseman Merrick Malik and Darren Langdon it is from St. John's Newfoundlake and Darren Langdon is also from Newfoundland too Newfee for Newfee so anyways Harold Duke and second rounder of the connox in 97

1:19:25all right here's another connock here's another connock this Vancouver native and defenseman drafted by the devils in the fifth round in 1990 he played with Barclay Parnetta on the Williams Lake Mustangs in 1987 I missed those guys I missed that team by two years anyways I missed them by two years both those guys in 1998 in Powell River I missed them by six months he had 370 minutes in penalties with the paper games Powell River it was a year after that I got to Powell River anyways after four years in the minors with the devils he signed as a free agent with a connox the connox seventh defenseman appeared in 41 games two assists 136 minutes in penalties not just stop it exposed by Vancouver in the waiver draft claimed by Boston Dean Malikov there you go there you go Dean my tough guy you still a scout with the Boston Bruins yeah well he was part of the organization when they won the oh he still is oh 2011 the Stanley Cup maybe he won the town team he got a cup ring absolutely but he played in a Williams Lake and Powell

1:20:30River okay okay here we go this NBA Hall of Famer played 22 years played for the University of North Carolina after being drafted fifth overall 98 98 the draft was here this is NBA no no the draft was in they they had an NBA team then okay anyways Rick was sick at the time he was the only NBA player to have appeared in a game in four different decades Vince Carter I knew it as soon as I said well 98 and remember he was he drafted by Golden State and then they traded yeah that's right yeah that's right you okay that's right seven years with the Raptors it didn't end well with him or not yeah every said he couldn't dunk anymore yeah but but it's it's it's it's it's it's come back yeah everything is fine they remember the good times like a break up right just retired the number didn't yeah yeah something like 15 okay here we go last one this comedian rose to fame in the 1980s became a staple of daytime television for nearly two decades 1986 she became the first female comedian invited by Johnny Carson to sit on the couch

1:24:44waiting I really like pod calls and responding to that cheap shot I'm like David that trade is rapidly climbing the list of blunders by this current management team hold on a sec that's a curling guy in the back pardon me no it's curling guy in the back in the whack no it's the back he's got B not W I can clearly see it says it says that trade is just a long list of blunders by this management group curling guy in the back so in the back we're not going to touch that signed or this is from rubber man signed rubber man whatever that means we also want to touch that is it just me or dolly should pitch check television for any behind the scenes reality called the toughest job in Canada about how he worked on television through suffering from a cold again from rubber man a candidate for a submission of the no it's not it's not if you people you

1:25:45got to come here figure out how tough this is like those shows highway through hell things like that yeah during the commercial breaks all I'm doing is hacking and slashing it's it's not easy or hacking and coughing and all that sneezing and you know all that stuff we know what comes with the cold okay so that's what I'm doing during the commercial breaks um toughness falls on management you can expect players to be someone they aren't similar to all the third and fourth liners we have in the top six Trevor and Ladner with a very very good submission and look I didn't expect Lewis Pederson to do anything to to Brian Ross that's what the guy all I understand all they just said if he if he did people would people would love it and then if he got his claw there there is a by the way some people mentioned because I think Jake the brus could have probably done it if you'd see him was going on there's also a massive look at going through that locker room right now and I wonder how dead those guys were EP the brusque sounded awful this isn't helping your case oh oh oh you're not going to fight because you're you're you got a

1:26:47cough you got a cough game was over so I'm just curious if they were so you defending them because they they got the flu I but you're okay with me and the flu you sit on a chair with the head said in front on live television but now you're defending the canucks because they got the flu yeah how does that work I'm just they're not a hundred that is just you know yeah that's weak I remember Morris we shard had the head cold the flu and he got five goals in a game how do you remember that why do you remember that I shouldn't be in your brain it shouldn't be in my brain but it's I there's a kid's person players are in a hundred percent do yeah I know good enough good enough yeah well hey Michael Jordan the flu game do you see boom yeah the NHL playoffs injury list and these guys play with the broken elbows and ankles and then you're worried about the flu you are too yeah but he's doing a tougher job yeah the NHL playoffs for Justin and he's van is it just me the sea ox are the latest welcome distraction from this season's canucks
