Jaguars' Safety Antonio Johnson Earns NFL Bonus

The Jacksonville Jaguars had a breakout season last year with 13 wins and the AFC South title. They surprised many fans by making the playoffs, though they fell short in a tight wildcard loss to the Buffalo Bills, 27-24. Now under head coach Liam Cohen, the team is focused on building on that success. The goal is to position players better and play stronger football for a deeper playoff run this coming season. Safety and Tony O'Johnson played a key backup role in their solid defense. He stayed available all year and stepped up whenever called upon, contributing to the secondary strength. Johnson earned performance-based pay from the NFL, landing 20th on the league list. This bonus rewards players for high snap counts relative to their salary. The program benefits those with lots of playing time, but lower pay, and Johnson qualified by logging plenty of defensive snaps. The Jaguars' hope players like him helped push them further next year.
