Jade Jones Knocks Out Boxing Debut

0:00On March 8th, double Olympic Taekwondo gold medalist Jay Jones launched her boxing career with a second round knockout win over Egypt, Chris and Derby. After 20 years dominating Taekwondo, the Welsh fighter switched sports at the start of last year. She set her sights on becoming a world champion in both disciplines for a fresh challenge. Her opponent turned out to be the daughter of hip-hop icons, Anthony Trech-Chris, from Naughty by Nature, and Sandra Peppa Denton from Salton Peppa. Jones sealed a victory with a flurry of left hook step, Floyd Chris. The 32-year-old from Flint trains at Liverpool's Four Corners Gym under former pro-boxer, Steven Swiftie Smith. She also draws motivation from her former roommate, Lauren Price, a fellow Welsh athlete who transitioned to boxing after success in football, kickboxing, and Taekwondo. Jones' debut shows her skills translate well, positioning her strongly for bigger fights ahead in the boxing world.
