It's a Sin Dance Production: A Queer Eighties Journey

0:00On March 19, Rambert is adapting the hit TV series It's A Sin into a new dance production. Russell T. Davies, who created the original show, is serving as executive producer alongside the pet shop boys, whose 1987 single, inspired the title, Benoit Swan-Pufre. Rambert's artistic director will direct and choreograph the piece. The production mixes archive footage with contemporary dance. Roman G. and Arthur is composing the music to evoke the glamour, defiance, and emotional depth of 1980's queer life. Luke Hall's studio handles the set and video design. The TV series track Young Gay Friends in London from 1981, capturing their joy and the terror of the AIDS crisis. It took home best new drama at the National Television Awards in 2021 and earned widespread praise for bringing that history to life. This show is co-produced by Factory International and opens at Manchester's new Aviva Studios, a 240 million pound venue.
