Al Jazeera Podcasts Nearly a month after the US and Israel started a war with a round that killed hundreds of people, displaced millions, and sent global energy markets into a free fall, President Donald Trump is now hinting at a diplomatic end to the conflict. Trump says Washington and Tehran have been holding, quote, very good talks, and that Iran wants to make a deal to end the war. In a sharp U-turn, he extended a deadline to bomb Iran's power plants. If it doesn't reopen, the strait of hallmirs in five days. But Iran says no talks have taken place. Its parliament speaker calls Trump's claims, fake news, aimed at manipulating the markets. And Iran's foreign minister says his country's position on the strait has not changed. Israel, though, has vowed to keep attacking Iran. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke to Trump and he said the US believes the peace deal is possible.

Well, Northern Israel has come under a new wave of Iranian attacks. missiles and interceptors have been seen streaking through the sky. There's been damage to at least one building in the port city of Haifa. And West Jerusalem has also come under fire. An explosion was heard over the city early on Tuesday. An emergency warning halted a late-night meeting of the Knesset, which was holding a session on the 2026 budget. There is, across Israel, have come under nightly attacks from both Iran and Hisbalah and Lebanon. While Iran isn't Israel's only target in this war, Lebanon has also been under steady Israeli attack.
