Iranians Mourn Khamenei, Criticize Ceasefire

0:00On April 9th, thousands of Iranians hit the streets for the 40-day morning of former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Kaminay, who died at 86. Years old after leading the country for more than 36 years, he was killed in a U.S. and Israeli strike on February 28th at his Tehran residence, sparking the wider Middle East conflict. Raleigh drew huge crowds in Tehwan, Ermia, and Gorgon, with folks waving flags and holding portraits. This comes right as a fragile two-week ceasefire, from Tuesday night stars crumbling, with big disputes over its scope. The U.S. and Israel say it skips Lebanon, where they've ramped up attacks, including heavy Wednesday strikes that killed 182 people. And hit over 100 Hezbollah targets. Iran and Pakistan insist the deal covers Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, and Yemen fully. Iranians at the events voiced anger over the bombings, and doubt toward upcoming talks in Pakistan. Bringing them as empty promises. Many rally behind Hezbollah, calling for strong responses while backing their new leadership.
