Officials summoned the Iranian ambassador for a formal protest and demanded a full explanation to prevent repeats. The foreign ministry made clear, Azerbaijan reserves the rights to retaliate. Initial reports point to Iranian Shahid drones, and the oil-rich nation has strong security links with Israel, which Tehran sees as a threat on its doorstep.
