On March 2nd, Britain's RAF Akratari base in Cyprus took a hit from an Iranian drone overnight Sunday into Monday. The strike caused minimal damage and operations at the base are running as normal. Officials quickly planned to move out non-essential personnel and families as a precaution, telling them to pack bags for three to five days. But those evacuation plans hit a snag this morning with reports of a new threat from Iranian drones or missiles. Nearby Poffel's airport got fully evacuated after radar spotted the suspect object about 37 miles from the base. Sirens blared across Akratari and fighter jets scrambled into the air around mid-day. Personnel and families hunkered down, ordered to stay inside, move away from windows and take cover under sturdy furniture. The base houses around 2,000 service members and their loved ones and folks nearby reported hearing strong blasts around midnight. This is present and confirmed it was an unmanned Iranian Shahed drone. This comes right after UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, okayed U.S. forces to launch
limited defensive strikes on Iranian missile sites from British, bases. The move aims to protect allies and British lives amid wider Middle East clashes with RAF jets already downing an Iranian drone headed for Qatar. UK leaders stressed this is purely defensive, learning from past lessons while the base stays
