Inmate Sentenced for Prison Manslaughter

Jail Damien Ward punched Dennis Green, a 42-year-old from Birmingham in the head at HMP Fossyway on August 6th last year. Green fell, hit his head, and died 15 days later from a skull fracture and brain bleed. But prosecutors took his guilty plea to manslaughter back in January. The sentencing happened last Friday at Lester Crown Court. Green had just started a 12-month term for burglaries when the attack occurred. Green was remembered as a devoted father, full of humor, warmth, and loyalty. His family shared that they are grieving and unimaginable loss. The judge stressed that every life matters, even behind bars, and noted the heavy burden Ward now carries.
