Illinois State Stuns Wake Forest in NIT Upset

Johnny Kinziger hit the game-winning free-pointer, with just two seconds left, while Ty Pence led the Redbirds with 23 points. The fourth-seated Redbirds trailed by nine late in the game, but fought back with key threes to Ty and then take the lead. From there, it was a back-and-forth battle with four lead changes and five ties in the final minutes. Pence shot eight of eleven from the field, and drained three from deep, and Kinziger added five threes plus five assists. For Wake Forest, Trayvon's spillers was perfect on all eleven shots for 24 points and grabbed eight rebounds, while Duke Harris had 20. Points in near-to-school scoring record was 750 for the season. This marks the first time since 1996 that Illinois State has won two straight NIT games. They're now headed to Dayton for a quarterfinal match-up on the Flyers' home court.
