Huntley's Prison Death: Cheered by Inmates

0:00On March 7th, Ian Huntley, the former school caretaker convicted of murdering 10-year-old girls, Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman back in 2000, too, has died after a savage prison attack. The 52-year-old suffered catastrophic skull injuries when a fellow inmate beat him with a metal pole last Thursday morning. He was rushed to hospital, placed on life support, and today Dr. Switched off his ventilator following brain tests. His 71-year-old mother, Linda Richards, stayed by his bedside during the final moments at lunchtime. She was his only visitor and agreed with medics that it was time, given his vegetative state and slim chance of recovery. Meanwhile, inmates at H&P Franklin in County Durham reportedly cheer the news of the assault. Sources close to the prison say no one involved with Huttley is mourning his passing, viewing it as an end to his suffering in theirs. Huttley was serving a minimum 40-year sentence for luring the best friends to his home, and so-hom, killing them, and hiding their bodies. This wasn't his first prison beating.

1:01He'd survived a throat-slashing in 2010, a stabbing attempt in 2018 and earlier, scalding. Police suspect 43-year-old triple killer and rapist, Anthony Russell, in the attack, but haven't made an arrest yet. With the investigation ongoing, Huttley's death closes a grim chapter tied to one of Britain's most heartbreaking crimes.
