Huntley Fights for Life After Prison Beating

The 52-year-old former school caretaker suffered catastrophic skull fractures and brain trauma when struck multiple times with a metal pole. He's now on life support and critical condition at a hospital, with doctors saying survival looks unlikely. The attack happened last Thursday, around 9.30 a.m., in a workshop at H&P Franklin and County Durham, where Huntley is serving a minimum 40-year sentence. Authorities to spec 43-year-old inmate Anthony Russell, a convicted triple murderer and rapist, carried it out. Prison staff rushed Huntley to medical care after finding him unresponsive in a pool of blood. He also tried to take his own life in 2006. Doctors have given him only a 5% chance square, and are weighing turning off his ventilator since he hasn't responded to treatment.
