There he is, they continue to double-brown. No, this is going to set Julian Brown off. Who thought he was pushed out of bounds? He's telling Tyler Ford, he might be able to double-brow here. Do you made pick a potential here? You ran half-court to catch the board star, and the tenth of green star. You can't, I got pushed out of bounds. You might be right. Jones and Keith, right now, on WWEEI. Are you ready for a busy sports night game? Oh, my God. Yeah, I am. You know it's funny. There had been a couple of nights where there really wasn't a lot of sports going on. It's been out and catching up on my TV and my movies as I do. And then last night, it was like, you needed four TVs. There's just like too much going on. Yeah, hopefully you have two B. You can watch some World Baseball Classic.
I did not. But you know what I... Subjects and Bruins playing on both last night, and then they are both off tonight. And then they're both playing tomorrow. It's the same thing. A little bit more of a staggered time though, at least on Thursday. But yeah, you get a lot going on all of a sudden. Plus you're keeping track of, you know, football free agency and everything going on there. A little something for everybody. Every, every sports team's got something going on right now. Well, and I would say we'll try to hit on all of it as we do today. As we do. But let's try to go through it quickly. We're going to start with the Celtics and what was potentially an NBA finals preview. The first of two last night, Jalen Brown, ejected. I think foolishly, although on who's behalf, we can debate. Refs. Jalen. Refs. But we have that. Bam out of bio getting 83 points. Let me put that in air quotes. What was that? 83 points for Bam out of bio. Honest to God. What was that? I don't know. So here's a little story about me real quick. Yeah. So I started. I was watching the basketball game upstairs and flipping to the hockey game upstairs where I have the cable box.
Then. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So I was like, I flipped it. It's easier to watch it on P-cropping. I televis and I'm watching on that. And it's like a six point game, late third early fourth quarter. Six point game. Seltics and Spurs to the best teams in basketball. But I'm watching on P-cock. And they're like, Hey guys, let's get you over to a 25 point blow out and watch BAM out of bio. I'd take free throws. I'm like, wait. Go back to the side of something. What happened in the seltics games? Funny like no. No, no, no. You got to watch BAM pot of bio so more free throws. Oh. I became aware of a BAM out of bio. I like the king of the court on Tuesday. Yes. Yes, I know you did. So the group chat was going off about BAM. I was like, these are possibly real numbers stupid. I saw that he was trending because I was all Celtics and Bruins and then you just like BAM out of I was trending and then you're like 62 points is trending. Yeah. What the hell is that BAM in 62 points? Why are those both? I thought it would take BAM out of I will month to get 83 points.
I mean, Terp said this and we'll talk to Terp later on today, but Terp said this. He's like, you can give me a hundred guesses of a guy with score 83 points. Oh, I wouldn't have guessed BAM out of I will. I would have picked Amherty Simon's ahead of him. I would have picked so many guys ahead of him. So just Celtics. But yeah, guys playing last night seriously ahead of BAM out of I. So there's that we have Charlie McAvoy getting more teeth knocked out and getting the game winner for the Bruins who never lose at home. Tom game. So the obviously one. Okay. So there was that we missed by 15 minutes yesterday Romeo dobs signing with the Patriots on in the car on the way home as it always is. That is the time locked and loaded between two and two thirty. You are going to get a sign of your trade. If you want news, you just wait for us to wrap up the crossover with heart and next thing, you know, Patriots, but happened a year ago with Milton Williams that happened yesterday with Romeo dobs. We've not gotten to that. Of course we didn't get to Max Crosby. Max Crosby. Not a Raven. That is shady. Tray Hendrixson is a real shady. Shady. Real. They could even pretend. No. Like maybe sign Tray Hendrixson a little bit later, maybe a little bit later. Not the second you cancel that trade.
That is guys. The deals off. We're waking up. We're signing Tray Hendrixson. That is sketch. Yeah. I don't like that. Big time sketch. So we'll get to that. Plus TV USA might be getting knocked out of the World Baseball Classic. Don't tell Marc de Rosa. He just found out about this. So like, honestly, that's a lot going on. Like, say, Courtney might be having the kid. Courtney, yeah. Yeah. I mean, the kid right now. Like, no, no, like right now. Literally. And so yeah, there's a lot going on. A lot happening out there. And again, we'll cover it all here today on Jones and Keith. We're starting with the Celtics though. You can dial us up on whatever you want. 7779-793-7 interact on Twitter and Instagram at Jones and Keith. You can watch along and chat twitch.tv slash boss and WEEI always. We got some would you rather's at 11 30 hashtag dork minute at 11 45 pure hoops with Justin Turpin. We're going to join us in studio to talk Celtics and spurs plus bam automayo and the Jones
and Keith 1990 slash early 2000s heavy metal new metal grunge alternative pop punk butt rock rock bands bracket rolls on today with the bottom half of the grab bag region. You can still vote yesterday's matchup green day sublime. Who else do we have? Ariem Oasis radio head and weezer smashing pumpkins and nickel back. I will get your first match up today on 3 11 day of all days. The holiest of the holy holidays. I forget 3 11 day six seeded white stripes against 11 seeded 3 11 on 3 11 day. It's in the stars. They need Jones's day. Yeah, let me tell you 11 let me tell you they need to win. I got to write a strongly worded letter. Whoever seeded this bracket and created this match. It was me Austin. It was me all 3 11 on 3 11 day. You can vote at Jones and Keith. Give Keith a follow at Keith 21 me at Jones WEEI. Celtics lose last night. They're short handed against the spurs. Pritchard was ruled out before the game. Jalen Brown ruled himself out right before half time.
Do you think the Celtics prove they can hang even short handed with one of the best teams in basketball? I do. Yeah, I do. You know, obviously the spurs are pulling away a little bit. But the Celtics stayed with it and made it really close towards the end and obviously final scores, whatever was like nine points. But they were right there and they played more than half the game without Jalen Brown. All the game, as you just said, without Peyton Pritchard. So it's also game three back for Jason Tatum. Like I would think at some point, Tatum's going to start to shoot it a little bit better and a little bit more efficient. He still finished with 24 points, but 10 to 24, 4 of 14 from 3. So I think that's going to improve a little bit. The spurs are really one of the three best teams in basketball and they're a great home team. And Victor Wembeyama had one of his best games of the year. So you needed all that. And the Celtics were right there with him. So you hate to be happy after a lot. Not even happy, but just sort of a good loss or anything like that. But the truth is, yeah, I think they absolutely prove they can hang with him. It'd be an amazing seven game series in my mind.
And you were hitting on this the other days. We're all looking at the East and they should win the East. And now you're like, well, why not go further than that? They got Tatum back. The spurs and thunder are both really good, but not like unbeatable. It doesn't feel like Durant with the Warriors. Like those two years, we're like, well, if they're healthy, they're going to win. I don't, I thought the thunder were going to be that. And we'll get a good look at them tomorrow night. And the spurs might be a year early, but they're playing really, really well. So yeah, maybe they could or at least make it a hell of a series. Like they're going to go up there and have a really competitive six seven game series. So no, overall, we can get into the Jalen Brown aspect of it. But overall with the team, I thought that was pretty positive. I think and the text line makes a good point. No, Vouchive, either. Although, yes, I know. We'll see if he ends up playing. But if you, who knows when he comes back and what he looks like, if you play in the five, he should have him in the finals. So what three of your eight best players? Yeah. And you know, I guess two and a half, right? Cause Brown did start. He did. And he was very, I don't know if you heard Scal mentioned this once or twice on the broadcast last night, but he was, he was the best player on the floor.
Controlling, some would say, uh, I don't necessarily agree, but he's playing really well early on and Tatum saw on a minute's restriction. So Tatum on a minute's restriction, no pressure, no Vouchavitch. Maybe he'll get him back. Maybe he'll look like himself. Maybe not. But it's frustrating because I, I think they did equip themselves nicer. They were down five with a minute and a half left. Tatum hit that three. I'm like, oh, they're in this. And then Castle answered back with a three and the, and the game was basically over. But you know, five points with a minute and a half left. When you're a shorthanded, I think they showed themselves well in that regard. I think Jalen Brown, and you're going to hear Stephen A later in the show. Stephen A went into this game and these games this week, Celtics last night against the Spurs, Celtics tomorrow against OKC. And he's like, if Jalen shows out in these games, he's the MVP of the league. It's him and SGA. And if he shows out in these games, he's the MVP in the league. This is what Stephen A said. Yeah. So if that's your feeling going in that these are the stakes and the team can prove themselves and Jalen can prove himself, I think it's moronic that he got thrown out of the game last night. Moronic.
I was terrible. I blame the reps more. I know you blame Brown. Well, or it sounds like you blame Brown more. I just blame the more for what? I mean, I'm out. You should be able to say whatever you want to a ref. You should say whatever you want. Hit him. He didn't punch him. He didn't spit on him. Like Robbie Alamar. It was a bad non-call, but not even the end of the world, whatever. Maybe he lost his balance. I know Casla has hand on him, but I don't know if he shoved him, but Brown was pissed. And he said something to him. We got teed up. And then he said something to him again. But he didn't just say something to him. He, he, first of all, flopped. He got shoved out of bounds and flops. Well, what? He can't be shoved to an flop. Well, he got, he got shoved. I'm sorry. He got shoved. He got touched. Yeah, that's over on the side. I didn't think that was a whole non-call, but he's mad about nothing. You barely got touched. So he flopped. Then he chases the ref down. Well, he got talked to him. So the ref walks to the other side of the floor. So he follows the ref down. Maybe there's a more accurate way to say it. So it's not like he just yelled at the ref. It happened at one end of the floor. He walks all the way to the other. He's yelling at him the whole time. He's demonstratively gesturing at him the whole time. He gets the first technical. His teammates hold him back.
You said you were watching on peacock. It's hilarious. No, no, no. At this point, I was watching. It's hilarious if you hear that replay on NBC Sports Boston. Scalenger were like, careful, careful, careful. Oh, man, be careful. Careful, Jaylin. And then he gets the second team. And they're like, whoa, what? Yeah, what? What do you mean? Why? Why did they throw them out? They were kind of pretty. You guys just said, be careful. We all saw it. Be careful in real time. Jaylin. And I understand. He's had problems with the refs all year long. Maybe it boiled over. You have to be smarter in that spot. If you're telling me the refs are babies and you're telling me the refs are bad, you're right. They're terrible. They are babies and they probably are bad. That's part of the reason why you don't put yourself in that spot. So I, I hated that from Jaylin last night. We got robbed of what could have been a great Celtics win and a great finish with all hands on deck. And you're not because he couldn't get past it on a touch foul where he flopped and chased the ref down. I hated that. To me, I'd put it in all on the refs. Jaylin Brown is playing like a superstar. He's a top five player. Steven A. Smith has him as the MVP.
MVP's don't get thrown out of games. They don't. They rarely even foul out of games, right? And Braun James always cries when he fouls the out. He's like, I don't foul out. He doesn't get thrown out. If Steph Curry goes down there and is yelling at somebody or SGA is yelling at somebody, they're not going to get thrown out in that situation. Jaylin Brown made the point after the game too. Like, look, you make a big deal about these prime time games, right? You want everybody to play in prime time games. We can't sit out. You all just load management. It's a good point. It's a peacock game. It's the two of the four best teams in the NBA and in the first half, you're throwing me out. And also, it's sort of like the double jeopardy thing where it's the same place. I think you picked up a technical foul in the first quarter and then a technical foul in the third. And those are the rules and he's got to go. It was the same thing he was complaining about and just get the ball in and play. Like, just get going. It's not like he had to lay a game or anything like that. What was he complaining about? You, Jaylin Brown? Yeah. I think he thought he got fouled. He didn't. That doesn't matter though. But I mean, but he's not, he thought he got fouled. But it does. I mean, when he got smacked in the nose last night, bleeding all over the place, he didn't complain. Yeah, but Jaylin's complaining about getting touched, but I don't think, so to me that
doesn't really matter. It's more the ref was just like, I don't want to hear you. And so I'm going to be the man here. I'm going to throw you out of the game. But I think Jaylin, I think Jaylin's looking to bark at the officials. I think you know, I'm right. So I think he's going into it. So I think it is relevant. But I guess he should have got, so, but he got a technical and I'm not even mad that he got a technical. My point is they then double down and then threw him out of the game. And his teammates did get in the way because at first, you're like, all right, these guys need to help him out a little bit or, you know, if it was like a baseball game, you'd have like Alex Korra flying out of there. So Mizzoula didn't do that. He chose not to get thrown out in that spot, because that's when we were like, what do I do? Like, do I defend the player and go fire it up or do I want to stay in the game? It's a pretty important game. So he did that. But yeah, I just, I hate these. I really think there should be next to no situations where a ref throws a player, especially a star player out of a game. I can tell you where you don't get thrown out is when you don't chase the ref all over the court. I guarantee if you just, if you just get touched and you just go on to the next plane, keep playing. I guarantee you you won't get thrown out. Well, that's true.
But I mean, he's not the first guy to complain about a call. No. And so you said, I don't think you really mean this. You put it all on the refs. Yeah. Not most all, not events on Jalen. Yeah. All see, I think that's why the star players didn't the game. Okay. And I see the star players. If you're talking about throwing them out fine, but Jalen put himself in that spot to get thrown out. Yeah, but you got to put some of it on him. If he punched the ref, I'd say, yeah, you got to sit down. I'm tough. You got to sit down. But I think you got to go. I don't like it. I don't like it. But I'll go to that side of the street. Or if you spit on him or pull his pants down, I'm putting some on the refs like the refs probably overreacting. They did need to throw them out and Tatum makes beyond a fair point. You make all, you put up a big stink as a league about the guys need to be out there. And these are big time games and all hands on deck and low management and this and that. It's a great point by Tatum. And so I put some of it on the refs. You're putting, you're putting none of it on Jalen. You got to have thicker skin if you're a ref. You're going to have thicker skin if you're Jalen. Yeah. Yes. You got touched and flopped out of bounds and chased a ref around the court because they put a fingernail on him. He was hot about it. He was running a little hot about it. Listen, that's what happened.
It was a Michael Pettit of guys. It was a Michael Phillips level. A touch is what it was. I know I watched that replay a bunch of times too and I'm like maybe he maybe got shoved like no. Now maybe the invisible man came over there and shoved him. I'm not sure. It was like his hand was barely on. He like lost bounds fell out of bounds. And yeah, he was he was yelling at him. So I wouldn't even honestly, I don't even think you should give him a technical foul. I think you should be able to scream at the rest, but that's just me and I know that's not the world we live in. But if you want to team up, go ahead, but then keep the game going. Keep moving the game. And so Jalen Brown was still yelling at him and so you're right, he was yelling pretty good, but I don't know. That's just one of those things where he even this season that he's having isn't getting the respect that he probably deserves. Okay. Right? Because there is superstar treatment whether we like it or not. There is. Luca yells all game and doesn't get ejected. I mean, he's been. Luca does. He does yell all game and it's annoying and we call him out for it. He's been ejected five times in his career. So he gets ejected. Yeah. And, you know, I'd imagine it's from chasing around and howling officials and Luca's a bigger star than Jalen. He's been thrown out five times in his career. I also think, you know, a random Wednesday against the Washington Wizards versus a prime
time game against the Spurs, I would officiate it differently, you know, and so they chose not to and then you ended up having to have a whole half without one of the best players in the NBA. That was only Jalen's second career objection. So they throw out Luca more than Jalen texture just FYI. I thought you want a consistent ref thing over there. I thought you wanted the refs consistent. You want him to ref differently in big games than regular games I want that's why you like robots. Well, no, I just think that's how it should be and it kind of has been, but I think Jalen Brown doesn't factor into their superstar treatment right now. Just like I think a playoff game, same thing playoff game. If Jalen Brown is an inch away from the ref's face screaming at him for five minutes, I still wouldn't throw him out. It's a playoff game. I want to see him play. I'm not going to lose my mind. So if it happens in a, and you know, it's not what I would do. I would put rules in place where it's going to be agreed to you got to make contact with the ref for a guy to be thrown out. So who are you mad at and who robbed us of potentially a great game last night? It's a good game. Still pretty good. And the Celtics measured up pretty well. I'd say for no pressure to no Vouchavitch and no Jalen for half the game and take them on a minute restriction.
You know, like I think they measured up pretty well, but we got robbed of potentially a great game. Like okay, see in Denver earlier this week, because of who? Those are the rest because of Jalen. You tell us six, one, seven, seven, seven, nine, seven, ninety, three, seven. That's how you jump in here and Jones and Keith text line is asking for it, Nick. I know we're a little late. But let me, let me just hear Missoula after the game, defending, uh, Jalen Brown as it were. What was your deal with the play that Jalen was frustrated with? Oh, yeah. He was pushed out of that. Just give him a ton of credit to my high school principal. He had the balls to throw a student out. He didn't leave it to the hall monitor. What kind of pressure are you about just that entire sequence? He was a hell of a principal. Honestly, yeah, wild man, it's kind of, we've come to expect it. I like, I like that answer though, at least, at least my principal had the balls to throw them out, not leave it to the high school monitor or whatever he's up there. He's like, and then the guy's like, okay, I don't really know how to follow that one. I'm not going to put that in my story. Thanks.
Thank you, though. But anyway, that was Missoula after the game, Tatum defended his teammate after the game. Jalen Brown just took the Twitter like five seconds after he got thrown out. He did right in the locker room and said, Twitter, this is the crap I'm talking about. So anyway, Jalen's not happy. He was looking to yell at a ref, I think last night, and maybe the refs were looking to toss him out. I'm at least putting some of it on the refs. You're, again, zero on Jalen. It's Jalen. One hundred percent on the refs. No, no, Jalen, zero on Jalen. You can jump in six, one, seven, seven, seven, nine, seven, ninety, three, seven lots to talk about. We'll get to the Bruins later on this hour. We'll get to the Patriots later on in the show. We'll get to Max Crosby, not a Baltimore Raven, Trey Hendrickson is, plus we can get to Bam out of Bio and his 83 points, are they real? Are they fake? I think you know the answer. We can get to that with all your Celtics. Have you or a family member been diagnosed with early-stage non-small cell lung cancer that can be removed by surgery? I mean, please. We can get into Team USA, not understanding the rules of the World Baseball Classic. And on the verge of getting knocked out tonight, so you can tune in for more of that. Plus, we'll get to the Bruins coming up about 15 minutes from now. We started with the Celtics, Celtics measured up with the Spurs. I think we got robbed of potentially a great game last night because of Jalen Brown. You think we got robbed of it because of the refs. Yeah. I think the refs screwed and the refs need to know it's a prime time game. And I'm not saying that Jalen Brown acted like the most professional that we've ever seen him, but still I think as a ref, you have to have a thicker skin. If you want to throw him a technical, I guess, but don't throw him out of the game. I thought that was a mistake. We still ended up with a good game. It would have been better. It would have been better. And who knows? Maybe the result would have been different. It was a good game that like kept you, no, kept you interest right. We may, maybe we were on pace for a classic or even just what we got earlier this week
with O.K.C. in Denver, which was a spectacular March NBA basketball game. Like it's not the NBA finals, but you still got a real showcase of what Victor Wembeyama is. Even more so, I didn't expect him to hit eight threes in the game. I think I forget if that set a career high, a tie to career high, but either way, it was right there. I think the average is like two a game, right? I think they mentioned that in the bribe. So he was, was burying threes, but you see that you see how good the spurs are, but there were still some really big possessions for the Celtics. And Jason Tatum played right at his 27 minutes. Once again, he had some, some good moments. How about Ron Harper Jr.? I don't know if it's just because his brother was on the other side, but that guy was possessed. He was awesome. Let me say something I agree with Scalon. When Scal was talking about this last night, he's like score another one for Brad and these fines. Like, I mean, that's, that's like another. Useful piece, not to overwrite what it is. It's just a useful piece is not a future all star. It's not a starter still, but like that was, that was with Jalen out, stepped up and self-inflicted out.
He stepped up in a big, big way back in in threes. He entailed about banking in threes. So yeah, not the result that you wanted and it was frustrating could have been better, but holy smokes. I mean, if this ends up being an NBA final series, it could be a wildly competitive. And who knows what it might look like, Celtics wise, not an excuse, but like if you get Pritchard and Vousavitch and a four quarters from Jalen Brown, like, that's going to be a fun series. So Jalen again, after the game, we said this going into break, he tweets after the game. I'm sorry. After his objection, like half time of the game, I was like, during the game, he was like, he's like, right, just been tossed out. He like, walked out to his phone and immediately blasted this out. This is the crap I'm talking about. I mean, we're cleaning it up a little bit. Right. A little bit. He's got such a thing for the refs and that, that's probably why it's a big reason why I can't get on his side for this. It was such a non-call that I feel like he was looking for it and ready for it. And he feels like in these big games, the Celtics are targeted and he's targeted. And I just think that's nonsense. Do you think you weren't targeted last night, Jalen? It was a nothing call that you bitched about. And then you chased the ref around for five minutes and you got thrown out.
I don't think there's anything weird about that. Do you think if he acted the exact same way, but hadn't said anything post games and all like, he's had a lot of comments here and there? Good question. My answer is I don't know, but those comments after the game don't help tweets like last night don't help. And next time it happens, they might be in the same spot. They might be a factor. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You have to wonder about that. So on the first hand, like, if he gets thrown out, he's not getting the superstar treatment, which again, it's been like an uphill battle of his, his whole career. Like he wants to be a superstar. He's literally playing like a superstar this year and yet the refs and I don't always agree with the actual like call or non-call. I'm talking more about the ejection, the ejection I disagree with him getting tapped out of bounds. I'm not saying that should have been a call like superstar should get that. Or like some of the times this year where, you know, we didn't get enough free throws. Like, okay. No, a superstar should get leeway on getting thrown out is your point, which I think is Tatum's point. And I think I think that's fair. I don't think the refs are blameless. I think they overreacted. I think they're bad. And I think they're babies too. And they took it personally. And the third ref, whoever he is, I got his name, you know, flying out from the, uh, from
the side. Yeah. Uh, Suyash Mehta. Yeah. Comes flying out. James not talking to him. Yeah. So like, I'm not saying the refs are blameless, but like Jalen, if you don't overreact to a nothing call and chase the rest around the court, none of this happens. It started with Jalen. Yeah. And so this is like as close to, I guess, like a playoff game as you would find because it's a marquee matchup. It's the, the number two seed in both conferences. It is one of the prime time games, right? You know, I know there's a thousand different prime times on every network now, but still prime time game featured game. And it's a close game in the second quarter and you do this. I feel like it just can't happen. And if you want to, I'm sure many others are like, Hey, Jalen Brown didn't control himself. He didn't hand himself the right way. The refs still need to just be like, they're not here to see us. We don't need to make a big show of it. We don't need to like give this guy a lesson or anything like that. Keep them in the game. Keep the game moving. If you want to throw them a technical, whatever, but don't throw them out of the game. That was a mistake. Okay. You guys can discuss six, one, seven, seven, seven, nine, seven, nine, three, seven.
You can also talk about BAM out of BIOS 83 points. Yeah. But if you're watching the Celtics on Peacock, you got a good chunk of those free throws at the end. I was like, enough. I watched none of it. I saw a cut up going around today, though. I mean, I saw some highlights last night. I didn't watch any of it live as my point. I was watching the Celtics on NBC, so they didn't cut it on. No, no, that was nice of them. But I saw some of the cut ups today, pretty much from 52 points on. There's a cut up going around of him, just all of his baskets. And pretty much from 52 points on, and there were plenty of free throws before this. From 52 points on, it's all free throws with like a random layup mixed in. He went 36 of 43 from the free throw line. I was like, what? BAM out of BIOS. Hit seven breezy shot. 22. BAM out of BIOS. Yeah. The center. Yeah. Took 22 threes in the game. Yeah. Like, I feel, I don't like this one. So I like stats. I like chasing records and all that stuff. I don't know. By the way, we haven't said it. NBA history in the game.
Yeah. Wilta 100. Kobe had 81. He passed Kobe last night. He passed Kobe for 83 second most points in an NBA game in the sports history. And for everybody that loves Kobe, which is most of the NBA, the, uh, you remember that game. There's a lot of shots. There's a lot of chasing it. Like he was going for it. And he got the 81, which at the time was the second most. Yeah. Was his team? Not the raptors he played against. Yes. That was against the raptors. This was against the wizards last night. Was it was his team failing the raptors to get Kobe extra free throws? Uh, I don't know. That was gross. This was like, this was like the Booker game a few years ago, Keith, do you remember when Booker did the second against the Celtics? And they, at least that, they lost, at least BAM out of them won. Good point. The, the sons and they were, they were, what do you get 70? Yes. He had 70 and they were, they were fouling the Celtics to get extra possession. And the game was exactly the same. BAM was incredible to start this game. Yes. He was incredible. And Booker was incredible that night against the Celtics. It was, don't we're getting to, but then what is this? Then they manufactured it to like chase a number at the end. It can't just be a great night and he ends up with 50. No. It's a manufactured 83.
It was a manufactured 70 for Booker when you, when you start fouling the other team to get extra possessions for your guy to get points. That's trash. That's garbage. And I guess my buddy was watching the game. He told me they were missing shots on purpose to get him a rebound to try to get him a triple double or a double double. No, it would have been a double double. He was nine rebound. Okay. So it was a double double. Yeah. They were, they were nowhere near anything. They're trying to do that. So like, the whole thing was trash and nonsense. It was, especially the end, which is what they cut in. We got ourselves a modified cheating scandal. So you're, I get if you're watching a peacock, they cut into it. And so he's, he's not at 84 yet, but he's chasing it. And you're like, all right. First of all, it's late fourth quarter, a 25 point game, right? They're up big because the wizards are horrible. The, the heater up big and he's still on the floor. And you're like, whatever. Like he's leaving them on the floor. But then they're not even playing basketball. No. He wouldn't even be in the game, right? Small show would sit him down. Yeah. But he had 30 or something. He's sitting down. Fine.
He's not the first coach to let a guy try to get 40 or 50. Oh, no, no. I don't care that he's playing. I don't care that he's playing at all. He's having a crazy night. But, but then they're fouling the other team. Exactly. And you're like, what are you doing? And then he's just like seeking out contact and going back to the line. Like he wasn't even like this amazing shooting night. He went 20 of 43 from the field. Seven of 22 from three. Yes. Gross. But it's like Wilk Chamberlain Kobe Bryant. Bam out of bio. That's a trash list. Oh, I think they were saying last night. And this was Scalendru. I think we're talking about this. The list was like, Wilk Kobe, Wilk somebody. And now it's Wilk Bam. No. Trash list. I don't like the list. Not good. And when you just look into how they did it, is really what's what's gross. I mean, the Celtics would do it to like a minor degree. Remember for years like Rondo, they like manipulate assists and stuff. I think they got Tatum a fifth. I think they got Tatum to 50 in like similar circumstances. Maybe not hacking the other team, but definitely like chasing it. But like manipulating it. You're like, all right. That's not really in the spirit of things. Now, I didn't watch the Wilt game. I didn't know what they were doing in the Wilt game. Some theory.
Some people believe that never even happened. Some people think it's made up. We were talking about it. We'll bring in pure hoops later. We should bring in pure hoops. Because that was not a good key conspiracy. Bryant subscribed to it. Bryant for Zoko from the afternoons tweeted out his last night. He's like, last night, that was not pure hoops. So I'm sure I'm sure Terp is disgusted. Yeah. But no, it's a good. It's a great key conspiracy. Yeah. If Wilt had his hundred, how come we haven't seen it? Good question. Where exactly? At least there's video of us. And let me put this in air quotes. Keep landing on the moon. Like at least there's video of that. Where's the video of Wilt? Stanley Kubrick needs to go back and film the Wilt Hunter point game. So these are the top 10. So Wilt 100, Bam 83, Kobe 81, Wilt 78, Luca 73. Allow with David Thompson. Had a 73. Yes. So once you get to the 70s, bookers are there somewhere. Then Wilt had one, two, three, more 72 or 73s. Damien Lillard had a 71. Donovan Mitchell had a 71. The Admiral David Robinson had a 71. As did Elgin Baylor. And then the 70 list is another Wilt.
Devon Booker and Joel and B. The most points Michael. And B. It's hilarious. I don't even remember some of those. And B. In Luca. Yeah. Who else do you say Lillard? I don't remember any of these. Yeah. Lillard I remember that was in 2023. Against the Celtics. I remember the Booker won well. Yeah. Right. That was definitely. And that was equal garbage to what happened last night. But anyway. But anyway. Bam, I scored by Michael Jordan in the game. 69. Nice. I bet he checked himself out. He gets it. It's like third quarter. He gets 69 points. They coach him out. Larry Bird one times scored him. 60 with just his left hand. Yeah. He was one time against the Hawks. The Hawks were cheering him on. On the bench. They were. There was such a crazy night. Larry Bird. That one time. 61. 77. 79. That's the fakeness of Bam's 83 points last night. Now second, all time at NBA history. Celtics measured up with the spurs. But we were robbed of potentially a win and a great game because I say Jalen. Keith says the rest. You can talk there. Plus. Charlie McAvoy. Lucentieth for the Bruins. Yet again. But they do get.
They do get their two points. And McAvoy gets the game win. They're winning at home. We got thoughts on the Bruins along with all your Celtics and NBA thoughts next. But interesting Bruins game last night as well. It was over the shadowed by the Celtics and the Spurs game. Jalen Brown getting tossed. But you have a low scoring, no scoring match up between the Bruins and Kings for much of it. Bruins take the lead. They give it up. They go to overtime. McAvoy gets his teeth knocked out and then gets the game winner, which you hear there. Bruins can't lose at home, Keith. They can't win on the road. So in some ways, more of the same. And unfortunately for McAvoy, that means more teeth getting knocked out. Oh my God. Yeah. What a physical year it has been for Charlie McAvoy. But yeah, coming through with the game winner and they do take
care of business at home. It's going to be pretty, it's going to be dicey the rest of the way, though, because they have a lot of road games, including two against Columbus. Columbus and the Bruins have played the same number of games and the Bs are up by two points. Second to last game of the season to play Columbus. Like that might be a winner in game. Wow. Literally could go to that. I knew they played it more. I didn't realize it was second to last game. So yeah, those two games are going to be pretty significant. Swaman back in their last night, not tested a ton, but was good in the game. And they win. Like they basically have to win their home games is how you feel. And then can they even go 500 on the road? I don't know. I don't know if they can. But you know, McAvoy doing all that he can. It feels like when the defense is close to full strength, they've been, they've been pretty good this year. And so we'll see if I can translate final push where under 20 games to go in the regular season. You think it was dirty last night running them into the boards a little bit, a little bit. Some of that's a height differential too. You got a guy with six six. Like you're just going to line up with that. But with McAvoy, you have to wonder not that there's anything that could have been done about what happened
a bunch of your all earlier this year. So McAvoy after the game gets the game winner. He's going to talk to the media after the game. He starts with the preference and it's totally fair. He's like, guys, my mouth hurts. I got. You got two questions. So give me the best of what you got. Here's what he got to about what he's dealing with. You know, I wish the hits would stop coming, honestly. You know, I'm just, it's tiring. My mouth honestly can't feel worse. But I'll get some work. We got to really get done this year. Who's great. I'm just really happy we got two points tonight. Honestly, I didn't feel great or have my stuff tonight. And just to see it go in at the end. And you know, I kind of feel like all's, all's forgiven. And you know, I just need to get some rest and, you know, I'll be, be better on Thursday. I just keep this thing going. It's never a great time when you can like evaluate how good of an emergency dentist you have on staff. I think he said last week, after he got hit in the face with the puck,
he's like, I can't lose anymore teeth. Yeah. He's like, the place I got hidden is the only place where I have real teeth. Well, not anymore. And so look, the only they don't want to wear the shields. But some of it, like, part of it would be like, these guys are dropping teeth like crazy. I would have a double cage on over my face. Double mouth guard, top and bottom out guard and full. Like, no, like, no questions. I would have it. Like people get on Romeo dobs for his guardian cap. Like that one, I would, I would, I would have like a guardian caps all over my face. If I was doing this, if I lost teeth in the second period, I'd be out for six months. I would not be back with a game winner and over time. There's no chance. Well, how do you feel about McAvoy saying I wish the hits would stop? Like, like, I think it was honest. Yeah. No, I, I do think it was honest and he's probably got his bell rung a little bit too. Like, when he gets smashed in the face like that, it's not just teeth that are probably affected. I get worries coming from, but it's not going to help. No, the fact the opposite you letting everybody know you want the hits to stop means more hits are coming. So I would question, I think he's being honest and I give him credit for talking to the other police stop hitting me in the
face. Well, I think he's, yeah, I think they're one of the same general to his face. He wants to be out, but I would be great. I think people are going to take liberties now. They know we feel they probably could have guessed, but now they know. Yeah, because all these guys do try to get under each other's skin, especially can play off time where like every single, every time there's a whistle, it's like a face wash and like a scrum and like there. Yeah, it's not going to help them. Let's go to the phones here. Kelly is waiting patiently in Amherst on the Celtics and Jalen Brown. Go ahead, Kelly. Gentlemen, yes, you were talking about whose fault is it is the rest fault. There isn't Jalen Brown's fault. I will say it's a little bit weird that the other ref kind of came over and made that call, although he was trying to bail out his buddy so his buddy wouldn't have to make two in a row. But I put it on, I put it mostly on Jalen Brown because the way he charged at that guy, that was crazy. And I was just watching this documentary about Magic Johnson. He's always smiling and being friendly. Jalen Brown is not that guy. He's not like a smiley, friendly guy. He wants to be serious. Well, he looks like he's going to murder somebody every minute of the day. I don't think the ref should have been worried
about his safety or anything like that. But when I hit him, when I say he like chased him down, he just the ref went to the opposite side of the court and he followed him would be the more accurate way. I don't want to misrepresent what happened. But Jalen easily could have let the ref walk to the other side and he could stew it invented. That's not what happened. He followed the ref down and kept yelling at him. So I don't think, you know, the ref should be concerned about their safety or anything like that. I like Jalen Brown's fire. Typically, I like that. He's not just smiley and friendly with the refs. I like that he takes it seriously. Just last night is the night where he went too far. That's all. Yeah, but also there's something weird like if you're arguing with one ref and then another ref comes like piling in. That's not the ref that should have thrown him out. I agree. I'm not defending the refs a thousand percent. I think they have some blame. I just put more of it on Jalen. I want your updated odds. Again, you haven't any on Jalen yet. Right now it's zero for Jalen Brown 110% on the refs. All right. We'll see if we can get you to at least one percent. We'll see you guys three more hours on the show. Our pal Mark and Medford is waiting patiently on the B's. Hello, Mark. Good morning, guys. So yes, Mackervoy scored the game, went on overtime. But you know what? This guy is
not the player. They said he, they told us he was going to be the heir apparent to Zadano Chara. Okay. So I mark. I don't disagree. Hang on. Just hang on. I don't disagree. Is this weird timing for it when he gets the winner last night? And he's playing there's teeth getting knocked out. And he was great for TV USA. I don't disagree. Is this weird timing? But then I give him credit for all that. Okay. But I want to see the Mackervoy that played for team USA. You want to know why he's getting hit so much guys because on USA, he was the hitter, not the hit he. He wasn't controlling the puck. He wasn't controlling the power play. I want to see Mackervoy more defensively than offensively. And the second thing, guys, David Kastanoch, what the hell is wrong with him? Geez. Okay. Is that a fair point about Mackervoy? Leave the Pasha Docs stuff to the side. He did. He snapped his goals. The last streak last game. I insist on the game winner. What? Dean gets a fair point about Mackervoy. Mackervoy's, uh, they're, he's getting seeked out and targeted. And maybe that's part of the hit last night because he's the one
throwing his body around in the Olympics. Maybe it's possible. Also, I don't know. Like, I, I thought he would be, once he was like a top five finalists for the Norris a few years ago, I thought you might get that a little bit more consistently, but to be like, he's not chara Borker or I'm like, okay, yeah, like you don't have to. I mean, I think he hasn't quite turned into the player I expected fair. It can also be way more aggressive on team USA because the defense been around him or the players on the ice random. We're actually good. That's true. That's true. And you know, that's kind of his fighting. That's kind of his role too. So, and there's no fighting. Good point. So I, it's different, but yeah, I would say on balance, McIvoy hasn't turned into the player I thought, but I like how he's playing right now. Same. I got that. So I just think the timing for that criticism is, is and when he was out, the games that he missed, you saw a difference. So like, they definitely, I mean, I don't know if you don't love the player or, or you thought he was going to be better, I understand that. But yeah, I agree. Today's not maybe the day for that. We got handshakes on the ice last night. You see that? They hung around for Ajay Copapatar. That was very nice. Last game at the garden. Copapatar. You got it. You got to do handshakes for him after the game. Is it painting or anything? It's a respectful
sport. Keith is what it is. Would you give him like some clam chowder on the way out? Yeah, there's something probably. I imagine some of that six, one, seven coached him, seven, seven, nine, seven, nine, three, seven. That's fair. We got all your phone calls here on Jones and Keith. We started talking Celtics, Jalen Brown and the Refs. We got to BAM out of bio his 83 points. We got to the Bruins, McIvoy, another big hit. And while the Bruins and their playoff chances with the win last night, stay in play as they defend home ice. The problem with them is winning away from TD Garden. And we haven't even gotten to football yet, Keith. As we said, there's a ton going on. Patriot signed Romeo Dobbs like five seconds after we got off the area yesterday. So we have thoughts on that. We got thoughts on the Max Crosby situation and Tom Brady's role in all of it. We'll get to it. Coming up next.
