I'm one of your host Greg Miller alongside Forbes 30 under 30 AKA New York Game Awards nominated AKA Sabrina Carpenter's husband in Tomo Dodgy life living in the dream. It's blessing at the age of junior. Good day Greg. Good day. How are you doing? Well, you had a good games cast out there. Games daily out there. Thank you. A lot of people I posted the Sabrina Carpenter wedding at my Instagram story. You know, mentioning that you know, my boss making put me in a wedding in a little video game. For me to the buster. Oh, well, you know, I said, I let it slide. Sabrina. So I let it slide. Got a lot of good replies. My stories. Yeah, a lot of people shocked about what happens in this

office. Well, then I would put you on that high level that I would make sure you Sabrina Carpenter can fall in love. I mean, that's the world I want. So can we talk about a friend of the show? Can we talk about a message? I said you, Tim Gettys, you'll enjoy this the most. Of course, Forbes 30 and 30 AKA Samir is daddy. That's all I really counts. And you'll like this too, eventually. But yesterday, of course, yeah, I put up this Instagram post Instagram.com slash game over Greggie. Go over there. Enjoy my content. It starts with the video of blessing Sabrina Carpenter getting married and goes through many, many different things. Wake up this morning, Tim. Rub my little eyes. Open up my Instagram DMs and friend of the show. Our friend, Tim. Grammy nominated artists, Tim, Cisco, the dragon messaged me at 4 a.m. his time and said, did he really get married? And he does a smiley mojino little shrug. I don't like now,

Cisco. It was just a joke. He really got married. Nor did he really marry Sabrina Carpenter. I love it. Would have been bigger news to go back in so much. And of course, they expanded a heart to drop Texas tree Latino. He clippin heads ribbon shreds. We've gotten that shot. And it's natural rifle from twitch.tv and he quit has just going to be just going to be creating stuff here. I know you guys got a podcast to do. But we have also listen. We are. We have a stream coming up soon. It's very important. Continuing part two. Yeah. Yeah, very much so we're continuing the creating the kind of funny despair bedroom of big developments last night in the world of Tomodachi life. There it is. Oh, wow. Good friends. And Tim have become good friend. I like it. I like it. They had to find a topic of conversation. What do you have a comment on? And I know that the only time that I hear Mike talk to Tim about anything that isn't work related, it's usually Nintendo. I decided to have them talk about. I like that. I was going to be

Koji Kondo. Who the fuck's me a motor? Who's this Koji Kondo? But I decided to give him Koji or to give me a moto. So that's what you want bonded on. And it turned out you know me a moto. I didn't know that. Yeah, best friend in the game. He said, I like to talk about me a moto. You know, we hang out all the time. Wow. Now you got to make a me a moto for the island. Yeah. Yeah. He's going to definitely drop in soon. Yeah. I appreciate that. Yes. Of course, Andy and I started our Tomodachi life living the dream spare bedroom island yesterday on stream. And Andy, of course, being the perfectionist and artist he is got through one and a half ms trying to make everyone in the office. So he asked if today during the how to fix Nintendo, he could make more ms. And we said, go for it. Go for it. Andy, you live your dream because I need to say this real quick though. And I was saying it great review from me on Tomodachi life with Andy hosting. Thank you. A great one. You got definitely just that. I was watching Andy make me yesterday. And he nailed it definitely like by the end of it. But he came in after games daily and he was like, can I take a picture of you for this? Yeah. Just like a reference picture. So I just look straight face at the camera. I

don't smile. No big eyes. Just like, like, honestly, like the most boring picture of me, I think I've ever taken when you asked me to take a thumbnail picture, my mouth's open. Yeah. You don't know me. I'm so good. We have photos. Yeah. Right. But it's like, no, I just gave you a straight picture. And then when I saw you making my like, yeah, you nailed that picture. I'm like, but that's, I feel like that's not me. And then you you looked at it and you looked at me and you showed me like, no, this is you. And I'm like, wow. Wow. Like do you all think that I'm just like that dead in the eyes? Like the love and spark that I used to have is just gone. Well, how do you feel about Rogers version of you, which is you on you need a haircut day? Okay. See, but at least I'm happy. Yeah. I appreciate that. And he's looked more like having a friend. But you can see there, Tim's hair down. I think Roger did this one very much in the middle of the baby. You know, okay, this was the Samir storm, as he called it. I like that. Yeah, cool. If you didn't know, but this is the kind of funny games, guys, each and every week, we, the weekdays, we run you through the biggest topics in video games, whether they be reviews previews or just topics we need to talk about. But we also love seeing our Patreon producers on patreon.com slash kind of funny. So thank you, Carl Jacobs, Omega Buster, and Delaney, the song twining for now. Let's begin the show with what is and forever will be topic of the show. We, of course, flew higher than anybody could ever possibly imagine Walton was going record numbers, record success. Nobody could believe what they were saying.

And we did a great segment called how to fix kind of funny, how to fix PlayStation, how to fix Xbox. And then when inevitably it should have been how to fix Nintendo came around, we did something else and the check out really, really mad at us because they weren't paying attention. But we couldn't do how to fix Nintendo without our number one Nintendo fan, Tim Gettys. Hello, Tim. How are you? Very biased. Yeah. Oh, yeah. How are you? How did we do on fixing PlayStation and Xbox? Well, I'll say I'm sitting there watching all that those shows, right? And I'm looking at the YouTube channel and I'm like, how does this channel survive off of 12. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. There's no way that people would have a place to save us. Let's go. No, those episodes were definitely some of my favorites watching because I was on the edge of my seat like, oh, let me in there. Let me in there. I got things to say. And I feel like that's great, right? I'm just like activating people. But no, I was I thought those were both very, very good episodes. The Mike episode probably should have been two different episodes. Mike kind of pitching with his PowerPoint. And then you all have the conversation. But that's just because I was

enjoying the content so much that I wanted more. You know how Mike is now? You know, you know, you can't. Yeah, if we would have done that, he would have put an afghan on and he wouldn't even done it. My favorite thing about Mike and there's so much to love. They're asking there's so much to question. But it's like, I feel like there's no correct amount of direction to give him. Correct. Because if you give him too much direction, you're not going to get what you're looking for. Yeah. And if you don't give him enough direction, it's not going to be what you're looking for. You just got to take what you get. Yeah, roll with it. You know, I love it, though. It's always good. It's always the point. You know, I'm not sure that he will. Well, we're happy to have this panel together to figure out how to fix Nintendo. Of course, I think with some of the other ones, this may be been more obvious, but we will start with the same question. We have asked it all of these. Does Nintendo need fixing? And Tim, since you're here, and since we waited, kick me off. I will kick you off saying that as a lifelong Nintendo fan, that has been through every era that Nintendo needed fixing, Nintendo does not need fixing in

2026. Here here, podcast over. You think they're doing everything as good as they possibly. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, but doesn't need fixing. Yes or no, I'm going no. Obviously, lots of room for improvement. But I do think that overall, I am incredibly happy with where we're at. And more than anything, I'm like thrilled for the future. I think we're in like such a great spot with the switch to that's any issue I might have with the now. I'm not concerned about because we're getting a later. And it's about to come and not stop. Okay. Blessing out of you. Yeah. Does Nintendo need fixing? I mean, I wish I could be unique. I wish I could be different, but no, like I, I, again, fixing implies that something's broken. Yeah. And I don't look at Nintendo and go, this is broken. I look at Nintendo and go, this is weird. I look at it. Yeah, I look at Nintendo.

I'm going to go y'all, Tino, y'all some freaks over there with how y'all do some business. Like, what are we doing with XYZ thing? What are we doing with like some of the features that are available or aren't available on the switch? What are we doing with putting out a game for 80 dollars? You know what I mean? Like, I think there are plenty of places for improvement, like Tim says, but I don't think the core, I don't think the system of Nintendo is broken. Andy, do you concur? I do, and I look at it from the standpoint that Nintendo will always be them in the best and worst ways. And before the, before the Switch 2 comes out, I think if you told me Nintendo's coming out with a more powerful version of the Switch and it, and they're going to come out with a commercial that puts the stats on the screen. It's going to say like, you know, faster frame rates and higher resolutions. And they're, and they're going to be launching with a Mario Kart world. I would have said, whoa, we are, we are changing. Things are getting real different there. They're like

kind of almost doing exactly what I've been wanting them to do and improve all this out. And then the game came out and the console came out and they still kept a lot of the weirdness, a lot of those WNDs, those weird Nintendo decisions. And, and I kind of don't know if I, I think I wouldn't rather have it any other way. Like I, I love the mystery that they present and that at any moment, we're still talking about them podcast wise and we go, that would be the smartest decision to make, right? And we go, yeah, but it's Nintendo. So who knows? Yeah. And they always keep us on our toes, you know, 100%. Yeah. In this line of thinking, because I agree, like, does Nintendo need fixing? No, I don't think Nintendo's broken. There's plenty of tweaks to go through. Yes, I'm sure we're getting the weeds on all that and talk about their future. I like this shot from the chat. Okay. Of course, so many super chats are coming in. Thank you. I'm going to currently working in the Twitch chat, though, who says, yes, Nintendo needs fixing because they're danger on the current course is becoming complacent. And I disagree because I don't think the switch to is them saying, cool, we nailed switch one and we're never going to change. And this

is what it is. I think as we look at place, PlayStation, two degree with certain things like their live service push, et cetera, Xbox as a company. As we look at these other, you could throw in third party publishing around that. If you want the crazy ones that are happening all over the place in buyouts and closures and layoffs, as we see the rest of the industry flounder in 2026, you really see Nintendo able to sit there and weather the storm and succeed, even though we bring in a bunch of headlines, which I will talking about, whether at what that means in cutting production, yet, yeah, but it is the idea that Nintendo is like, it isn't broken. Don't fix it. Let's give the audience what they say they want from us and it seems to be working to them. Yeah. And I do kind of want to say this earlier in the show than later because I do think it's an important kind of starting place where there have been many moments Nintendo needed fixing. And a lot of those times, they would have one thing, but not the other, whether it's like they had the games, but they didn't have the hardware or they had the hardware, but the games

were coming out at too slow a clip. They had the first party games, but they didn't have the third party games like there's a lot of these different things. Or even it was just we're dividing between our handheld and console side of things. So they Nintendo was delivering, but only if you own two separate things, and you were looking at them as one ecosystem, even when they weren't, right? Like as a Nintendo fan, I had a great time during the Wii U and 3DS era, but if you only had a Wii U, if you only had a 3DS, it's a little bit different, right? That's a much bigger investment at that point. But with we're at now, this is the first time since the GameCube era that the Nintendo console is at any way having parity with the rest of the gaming industry in terms of tech and hardware. When the Wii U came out, that was the first jump for Nintendo 2HD, which was playing catch up a whole generation to PS3 and 360 going HD. Then we're now at this point where when that was happening, when Nintendo was 1080p, if even like 720p 1080p, honestly, like the jump

to HD, PS4 and Xbox One were pushing that, right? And we're getting 4K and we're getting HDR, we're getting all the like the real focus on, hey, we can move past 30 frames per second. Like what if we pushed more? And back in the day, there were 60 frames per second games, but that being more of a focus and really a way that modern games are being designed around, we're finally at a point that when you look at Nintendo, Xbox, PlayStation, Steam, all of it, they're all playing on the same base level standards of where games are being designed. And I think that that is honestly the fix that was most necessary across the board. And you look at third party games, which I think are the biggest reason that that was necessary, because Nintendo has always made incredible games for its hardware with the power and limitations it had, because those are the choices they made to be able to sustain, to be able to like ride out when industry problems were happening. We're finally at a point that Resident Evil Requiem, Pragmatta from Capcom, are banger certified hits on the Switch 2, day in date that they're releasing everywhere now,

everywhere else, and they play fantastic. They don't play better than the other places. Well, what I'm saying is, they only have the Switch 2, they play amazing, right? As somebody who reviewed Resident Evil Requiem right on the Switch 2, I don't regret that decision. I don't go, oh man, but I could have had even better hair, which I could have. But it's like, that didn't stop me. Switch was great. And then you add Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade, which is a technically PS5 game, the Intergrade version, but PS4, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, specifically PS4 Generation, we have rebirth coming out this summer. That to me is going to be a big test of, we now have a team that knows how to use the Switch hardware and proved that they can make magic happen on this thing. Can they pull off magic with a PS5 game, right? I'm very interested. And there's nothing that says complacency to me, then there's no part of releasing a physical virtual boy that says that they are complacent. That's the weirdest shit ever, you know.

I think the complacent part is the part that, yeah, it kind of blows my mind the most as far as a word that you can use to describe Nintendo, because I think they're anything but I think the fact that Nintendo is the only gaming company I still look at who treats their games and their system like a toy. And of course, it's gotten better, it's gotten better as technology generation over generation, but I still look at my Switch 2 and I still get a toy fuel from it as I log in as I play my games as I look at the games that they follow up on, right? For me, when I think of complacency and I might even take the work in places out of it, right? When I think of what many big studios do, it is, all right, let's continue to double down on IP or whatever series that we have. Of course, Nintendo does that, but they move and shift with their IP in ways where it's the next Zelda is different from the last Zelda. Like when you look at what Zelda Breath of the Wild did to change the Zelda formula. Sure. And it's like, okay, cool. We nailed this. Everybody loves it. It's great. Now we're going to make tears of the kingdom as the direct sequel follow up. And we're going to make it into a game where you are building things and taking it like have sky islands. It's such a

different style of game that cares a lot of the same foundations, but it's such a different style of game where it's like, damn, y'all put play in the forefront of like the way that you look at designing your games. Yeah. And for me, that's so important for a gaming company. And I think that's why they continue to make some of my favorite types of games. And I think, you know, you stumbled or something. I know Tim said the entire run of kind of funny and really resonates. I think when you talk about it, right? Is the fact that if you wanted to be a hiter on the outside and talk about one more Mario, Mario, in Zelda and match right? Okay, you just have the same things and you regurgitate them and do them over and over again. It is that idea that most Mario games, except for direct sequels, right, are vastly different as you go. Whether it be a 3D Mario, a 2D Mario, it's doing something new with the idea to bring Zelda into that suddenly, right? And have it be that. Okay, cool. It is breath the wild, which you think you have your headrapper on. Now it is tears the kingdom glue all this shit together and an erector set kind of thinking, go out there do it. That's awesome to him. Yeah. And also, you know, the argument of like, oh, it's just Mario and Zelda and all that stuff. Even taking a side to point you just made that

I absolutely agree with. That's ignorant because Tomodachi life just came out and Pecopia. Yeah. And like that there's a type of Nintendo fan that I think is in the forefront right now more than ever that only wants Smash Brothers Mario and Zelda. And if it's not those things, it's a waste. And it's not an Nintendo game and Nintendo is fucking up. When you look at the things that they're putting out, like they're going all over the place. And like true Nintendo fans are eaten really well because they have a lot of amazing experiences to play. We got a fire in them coming out. And I bet that it's going to be one of the highest performing firearms ever from a critical and sales perspective. That's awesome. They earned that. They worked towards that since the 3DS. You said, you know, true new Nintendo fans are eating. I really do think it's you can sit there now and break that out and just say video game fans with the Nintendo Switch 2 or eating, right? Again, while you've been gone, Tim, I did this whole thing. We're like for four months. All I played was my Switch with the exception of skate. And now we're at the point where there's a bunch of different reviews happening where I need to be on it. But I would still be playing so many of these

indies that I'm reviewing or things I'm touching and putting on the rock ally on the Switch 2. If Switch 2 codes just didn't come in so late, which is a just the way it works with PR that Steam codes are way earlier so you get those. So third party games that are on Switch 2. Honestly, I'd probably pick and put on Switch 2 if it wasn't just for where we're at right now in terms of our job in playing the game and having the opinion. But of course, our job playing, having the opinion, doing shows like this where we rant in rave. That's great. We're all much in dummies. You know who's really smart? Senior director and video game industry advisor at Serkana, Matt Piscatella. Of course, as you may remember from the PlayStation show, I reached out to Matt, of course, who Serkana formerly NPD runs you through all the industry numbers each and every month and asked him to give me his diagnosis on PlayStation. I said, Hey, Matt, why don't you do it again for Nintendo? And he said, you sure give me a short notice, but I'll do it. I said, okay, I'm sorry. Matt Piscatella writes Nintendo is doomed. Well, JK Nintendo is just fine. Nintendo is still out there doing Nintendo things. Switch 2 is off to a great start. The film and theme

park efforts are doing incredibly well and they're still making great and-or-weird games that sell. The thing with Nintendo is that they've set such high expectations that it's an incredibly high bar and any game that isn't the biggest thing in the world is considered by some a disappointment. But that's ridiculous. As long as Nintendo just continues being Nintendo, it will be just fine. The recent push and entertainment and theme parks was such a smart move and its IP strength is unmatched. So yeah, reset the doomed clock. Obviously, if you're maybe not following games daily, as closely as some of you might say, who's saying they're doomed? Who's saying they're broken? Over on Bloomberg, March 23rd, the headline read, Nintendo cuts Switch 2 output by over 30% on weak US sales. Nintendo is cutting back on the production of Switch 2 after demand for the console trailed the company's expectations during the year end holiday season, particularly in the US. The company plans to make 4 million units of its flagship- I'm sorry, 4 million units of its flagship device this quarter, a third less than the 6 million it had originally planned to produce.

With the reduced output rate, set to continue in April. There was context to this though that some of the bigger places miss we go to GameSpot who added, there is no denying the Switch 2 is crushing it. Its sales in the US are pacing 45% ahead of the original Switch over its first four months in most consoles in history. No data exists in a vacuum though when the Switch 2 sales came in weaker than expected in certain overseas markets for the last quarter. Nintendo set in February. Now report from Bloomberg claim that they're cutting in bubble blah blah blah blah. I think it's bonkers to sit here and talk about, not take away the bad news of it, right? But to have that statement that it's 45% ahead of the Switch 1, which was gangbusters and everybody was all about because that was brand new and when we came up on Switch 2 there was this conversation of is this device a slightly better Switch going to be enough to get people to go out and buy it and there you go. Yeah and the numbers that they're talking about about it not hitting expectations is because their expectations were wild and they remember they like redid them and added even more.

Yeah. Having said all of that, it's like I think that there is a lot here where it's like when you look at their their first year of the Switch 2, there were I don't know if I want to call them mistakes but there were choices made that I think add to all of this and there was also things that they had to deal with like the state of the world and the cost of things and the tariffs and like I remember that moment where they announced the date for the Switch 2 but they didn't announce the price because they couldn't you know like that was crazy and I'll never forget blessed me and you in that elevator. We were some of the first people to get our hands on the Switch 2 and there was we just saw the presentation we're so damn excited and we're like we have questions. What's going on with the price? What's going on with this and I forgot who it was but they walk in the elevator. Dan Riker. Dan Riker goes. Mark Hart World's $80 and we're like like a collector's edition or like you know it's like we're all of us like a room elevator full of games media people one by one freaking the fuck out and it's like I don't know that

the conversation has shook that you know what I mean like that's just such a like a wild call for them to make that Mario Kart World was $80 and I think that's the type of thing that needs to be fixed. There needs to be a refinement of the pricing of these games and at least a somewhere in it. Some level of pattern that you can look at and be like okay I understand why you might not agree with it because I do think that there's a level of like if all of the games were 70 and that's just the standard and it's like you're really telling me this Yoshi games 70 and this game 70 it's like well the games are all 70 but when it doesn't make any sense at all the Mario Kart World's $80 like I really would love any explanation on why. I mean but like we can infer the explanation right I feel like deep down we know what it is is the fact that Mario Kart World will be the highest selling game on the system and they're trying to make whatever money they can out of it especially when we're looking at the tariffs we're looking at possibly having to sacrifice some sales because the price of the switch might go up right or trying to figure out

okay if we're going to continue to sell this at the base price where can we make more money elsewhere they're going to look at their highest selling game and go let's sell that for $10 more dollars. I mean yeah look I get that in terms of I let's just make money that is something I think needs to be fixed if we're talking about the sustainability of an Nintendo and a respect towards the product and growth for the system because the most important thing for the switch to in year 1 and even year 2 is selling switch 2s so that when you put out 3d Mario it can sell 20 30 million copies as opposed to 5 million copies because that's where the money comes in but you're you're right but I do think that that is the thing that needs to be fixed. Yeah. Yeah it's a fun one it's like I the only thing I look at with that right is that we haven't gotten an $80 game since correct me if I'm wrong from Nintendo I know how to out of worlds too was at $1.80 and then they said you know what sorry about that don't worry about yeah what was that switch to additions are the one thing which is what you're kind of like it is different but I do think it's important to to bring up though because Nintendo are selling those

as $80 switch 2 games so it's like if you were buying them for the first time it doesn't really matter that it's like we know that although they're adding this content to this content it's like sure they're charging you $80 for a game that was already $20 cheaper on the switch one because games were 60 than not 70 yeah so it's just getting it's gets a little bit like when complete additions have come out in the past it's never been a thing of I'm buying this complete addition for $80 it's usually cheaper yeah right like most is maybe this maybe the $60 standard but yeah you're you're trying to get it for cheaper but yeah the fact that we've not gotten an $80 game since does ease me a little bit even though I do look at Pokemon and go that's probably the next one that's going to be $80 right like I think they're going to look at their one of those games that are undeniable for us that people are going to buy no matter what and maybe that's how we skirt around having to raise the price of the switch to because I think they kind of look at the either or of we got to make money either from here or from here and we'd rather a couple of our highest selling games make the money for us as opposed to sacrifice the

celebrity of the hardware I think they're going to be in a wait and see period to see how Sony and Xbox are affected by their price rises price increases and because they have some time until they're next big first party thing right whatever whether it be Pokemon whether it be Mario or you know I don't consider this rumored ocarina remake or whatever or the rumored star fox thing to be well what well no I in terms like being a brand new title like I don't yeah I thought that was a remake or well I'm not going to be a remake which one the star fox one star fox can be star fox oh okay I didn't but I also don't think star fox is going to be system seller of course yeah hopefully I love if that's the case but I think they're in a point right now where they they're not struggling they're not desperate they're not freaking out too much but they go does do Sony PlayStation 5 sales absolutely tank because of these price increases yes they do let's keep that

let's keep our switch the same price eat it yeah and like you mentioned blessing look for the next opportunity to go all right well let's try to cover some ground here now we make some extra Pokemon like what's the PlayStation quote that they made about what they got to do to their audience they're gonna they're gonna focus on monetizing their existing play existing player base and I think Nintendo I think any of these companies are looking at doing the same exact thing based on that so even if it's not the software it'll then be Nintendo online plus expansion pack or whatever it is and I think that's one that's tough because I think that is a that is a a cost that people will go actually no I don't want to play this much for for Nintendo online that's something I can sacrifice but I don't think people can sacrifice Pokemon Mario Kart I've said this since day one and I said by Nintendo online is the best deal of all of the online services specifically now it just by the day grows because they just keep maybe not by the day by the every three months the grows of like band the libraries are just undeniable like the amount of games that you have access to

even with the expansion pack for the price you're getting annually it's kind of wild how to fix Nintendo get rid of the borders on virtual console it's so obviously oh yeah just give me the option to turn them off oh yeah oh that'll like a little bubble or give lay it give some cool little designs which I know is asking a lot from we got two themes see that that's the how that's the half of this episode that I think we could talk for ages on is the pull point list of like yeah who those borders give me more themes what happened to the themes why more themes a theme what because we have no we have black and white black and white man that's two themes but yeah give me just give me one additional one is on the whole day for me I don't care about these I like my dark theme I'm fine yeah jump in and be with him on this one I agree and I think again like it's something I've talked about before really falling in love with the switch to and with the ecosystem right and even afterwards now I've like I really appreciate that when I turn on my switch it's like here are the games pick the one you want to play let's go you know what I mean it's not about like

turning on any of these things and being inundated with ads or this or that I know they put ads on the front screen before I click all the way through which I'm not saying they're you know perfect strolling money away but I'm just saying like this is a game machine I'm picking it up to do that we're playstation xbox I think has so much scuttle but well that's it I mean we're talking we're having two different we're talking about dashboards period and UI period because it's not it's not a cool animated theme that is turning you off when you turn on playstation and you see FIFA fucking you know the this thing pre-ordering out like that the animated background could just be a black one and you would still have those annoying things in front of you yeah it's true yeah it's to be clear for me I don't care about themes they should have themes like I do think it's ridiculous that they don't ten years in to the switch right they got a vision they got a vision it's a game machine it's a toy but then why do they even have themes as an option yeah don't even option that black or white I mean you got what about a light red a company that sells different color joy cons to not I guess to not have themes is like it's so weird to me like they love that customization

thing they want to they're going to nickel and dime you on all those things I don't understand how whenever you buy a new game it doesn't come with its own thing for me it comes back to it being a toy right like and I I would not have to harp on themes forever because that was just a random thing I'll start out but like for me that enhances the idea of like I am playing around on my switch right it is oh let me let me put on the Mario pattern that theme that they added here like I feel like there is more investment towards stuff like that to make the switch to feel more playful and alive not in the we're going to clutter the screen kind of way but just in a here's more ways to make this feel like your own I think it's still making me I think it's a better investment than the more than the flowery like toy the wonderful flower you know what I think is the Nintendo was I'm punding that thing across yeah going no no more yeah I have a they're a big picture can I stand or is it in this vein it is in the vein of of themes I'm taking it a little apartment but I mean go for go to my whole thing is just I think I I think that you know talking about I they should have this and it should do this and they want to personalize it I think

Nintendo doesn't want you to do that I think they want a switch to be a switch to be a switch that's it's a thing it's I see eighties and it looks just like mine I'm a gross switch and I understand we enjoy con colors and now we have the new ones that are coming with the pastels or whatever but there's something that clearly is their vision for what this device is is that it is that in the same way I would say what they think Nintendo is as an IP what their IP's are you going to talk about IP's not making me's though that's my thing yeah I don't know if I agree with that with that part because I mean like the themes I don't think it shouldn't I'm going to directly contrary to myself with the pitch I'm about to make but I don't think it should change the UI at all it's literally no colors it's just like I hear you I know I'm I'm I'm doing me wrong who the fuck cares but I think I think clearly Nintendo hasn't added that from switch one or to here because they're like no that's not what a switch is yeah but I should put the joy cons I think like does negate that entirely because like you look the right now I understand the switch to I was very living on joy cons which is fucking bizarre but that's probably just because the tariffs and hardware is like so prohibitively expensive that they can't have 18 color joy cons sitting on

shelves right now like they could during the switch one generation right you want to go somewhere else but I do want me I got something I got a comment here I'm not gonna lose what I have I have a pitch science dog official super chat science dog official super chat and says Nintendo has a lot as let me try again Nintendo has lost a lot of their character of the year over the years is what I think he means in favor of following strict brand guidelines they need to loosen up and bring back the levity not a fucking chance I mean oh should they do that with that's a discussion for the table but that's not gonna happen as Nintendo's a runaway success and what Mario is game spot the super Mario galaxy movie exceeds $600 million globally is now 2026's biggest Hollywood movie I would love to see I would love to hear more like as far as examples of like the levity they got to get back to because are we talking about when they did the direct with the muppets or whatever but they weren't literally muppets they're just puppets either way like I remember are we talking about that or are we talking about something else because he says IP so I mean they're characters I think it's the games it's the new super Mario brothers right it's okay we've seen this again and again and again and again we know what Mario looks like he'll never look different

because this is how it looks and then we got wonder which I do think is this is a sign of the levity like that's my thing I think between wonder in the Mario movie even though Mario movie isn't necessarily the most beloved thing no but I'm with you at the Mario movie that I think it is a direct like counterpoint to what is being argued there where the Mario movie is them having fun and doing something different with Mario and making them have a voice that's not Mario's voice and it looks different and they're creating a world where it's like that's where the levity is yeah and even though I hate flowery I think I think flowery is that's named no wonder flower is there was talking flower but that's not a name give him a name flower is the character from Undertale plus yeah but they know what they're doing um but yeah I hate flowery but I think flowery is kind of their answer to to like oh we all right how do we inject more in the games he's great though and we tell you wonder yeah yeah dude it had so much care in Mario Tennessee sucked yeah sucks in Mario tennis and I don't like him and Mario wonder I'm playing I bet is about to beat Mario wonder all by himself and I'm sitting there playing a case with him and helping him and

oh what about this just the fuck up flower nah man it's great but Mario wonder I've almost texted you so many times Tim I'm like yeah this game is fucking awesome it's great I'm convinced he was their answer to we're about to have a voice acted Mario movie like kids people who are coming into Mario via this movie are gonna expect voices heard when they look at other people I think that's why they added talking flower my this and this is gonna be a hot take for me have Mario talk in the games let Mario talk that beach talk let all them talk let's do it yeah what do you want to say fuck there's a character science dog official wanted there's the edge that's what they want I think what's interesting about a lot of the super chats here is that people are talking about how Nintendo fixes stuff and they are specifically talking about games bandara sense says Nintendo needs to step up with sequels i.e. Mario tennis if they want players to be excited for switch sequels they need to do way more of them then we have a whole bunch of people talking about Pokemon right

wow wow says biggest fix needed is to take Pokemon from game freak nostalgia account says one way to fix Pokemon is by doing spin-offs back-to-back again like the DS and Wii U area air air air air especially without popular pokopia has been zan fair says my list is to make Pokemon higher quality and then he goes or they go into a bunch of other stuff we can get to later jumping off a couple of those I I feel like it's not so much do more sequels I think it's more that there is a the what I would refer to as being seat here of Nintendo games need to raise in quality and when we talk about the Mario sports games like they need to be better like they really really really do they need to have a bit more focus for what they're trying to achieve and not put modes in that are going to be undercooked just to add more content and stuff I think that that really the tracks yeah I played during my paternity break and you you slack does it then this story mode is offensive yeah it is and like I understand the conversation of like well why are you judging that because like

the game is so good the tennis game is so good and it's like what do you do in a game you play the game it's the most top there's like and but that's the thing that's a problem you need to solve Princess Peach's showtime the Yoshi games most of them like we'll see next month with uh we know that mysterious book but I'm getting like I don't want to jump that far down that like we know they're trying something different with this game like they're like looking at it like watching all the like they've put out like three five minute like breakdowns of it of like what the game actually is I'm like oh this is different we haven't had this before okay like this gameplay is different than the things that we've gotten before whereas the last couple Yoshi games have just been the same thing with a different art style and different code of paint but it's the same gameplay there's something different here I I'm concerned about it and I do think it's going to fall in the trap of what I'm talking about those games need to not be dumped down for kids Nintendo games kids can play adults can play mario wonders a great example they've done such a good job since I would say like the mario 3d land era of coming up with ways to add challenge but then also add the to dookie you know

like add these to dookie add these things that allow anybody to play games and if you have trouble with falling down the pits there's the auto bounce thing there's the uh you're in invulnerable so you're not getting hit like those little features I think really go a long way and allowing kids to play the way they want to it's in big hands access it's indoctrinated bend mario wonder which is a game him and I enjoyed but inevitably we would run out of lives because he was falling down a hole and swimming to me but I didn't get to him quick enough you know that whatever to bring his ghost back or add father it's I know while I'm trying to fucking get the top of the flagpole getting shit together uh so it was a stopper where he like I'm gonna go play spotter man we just gonna play spotter man sure and now that they've added in that accessibility stuff with the switch to stuff like he is on it every chance he gets trying to get to bowser and finish off bowser but the arguments everyone's been making about the mario galaxy movie that it that kids deserve better and like there's all these other better kids movies it's like I think it's even more I'm gonna use the word embarrassing that intendo is putting out games that we know what intendo's capable of we know what these teams even making these games is capable of based on other games

they've made these games should be for everybody not just for kids eat and I'm not saying don't make games just for kids but I feel like we all know and they know I know they know these games could be enjoyed by more people sure if they just made a couple design choices differently and and and treated everything like it mattered as much as mario and zelda I don't I'm not saying put the budget of that of the time or whatever but like they put so much great creativity in these things but then they make choices that I think uh dumb the experience down to make it lesser than for everybody well said Tim uh Tim I want to hear your pitch for what you would do for an intendo but first I want to pitch y'all on supporting kind of funny you can pick up my membership on youtube.com slash kind of funny games patreon.com slash kind of funny apple and Spotify of course give us $10 will give you everything we do add free that's more than 80 episodes every month of course you get your daily dose of me Greg Miller into 15 to 20 minute podcast series called Gregway that I believe is like 26 or 28 minutes today and of course you get good karma for supporting an 11

you want it to or not got it and it's a little hard for me personally to admit because of the person I am born in 1989 Nintendo fan my entire life I'm scared about what you're yeah he's going to say yeah it's a hardware this is just more just like I think don't you dare kind of those words that raising awareness of something that like I don't think people not everybody actually knows and we have conversations about the industry all the time about the different spaces and the console wars and all this and for 10 years I was on shows and like debating like you know who's winning and it's like they don't talk about it even though it's like Nintendo sales are fucking dominating you've been winning critically the games are doing way better but it's like it still feels like little brother shit right and I who cares at the end of the day but it's still kind of like I'm sitting here like come on guys what are we fucking talking yeah um but what's happening is we always talk about the glory days of PlayStation the PSX that era where everything was going great and there was a sense of community right PlayStation was a brand that people were fans of and trophies and PSN there was excitement there was like PlayStation

ethos and we see the nostalgia for PlayStation with the sacred symbols and with the PS1 startup sounds and PS2 and PS3 it's like PlayStation means a lot to people right and then on the Xbox side it's like we we got a different sense of community with a lot of the leadership and a lot of the ways that they would be direct to consumer and talking a lot more openly in the podcast which created lifelong fans like Mike and like that type of sense of community Nintendo's different because from day one it's nostalgia based and it's very community focused in the sense that they have die hard fans of these toys people loved Nintendo Nintendo is people's personalities and lives in a way that is not like PlayStation and Xbox it is different and the number one sign of that is YouTube there are not Xbox YouTubers and PlayStation YouTubers in the way that there are Nintendo YouTubers and the way Nintendo YouTubers make content whether it's retro or talking about the things that are coming out right now there is a love and a passion and a just cult like

situation going on that they have communities within themselves but it's also all part of one giant community yeah you will never till the end of time not be able to turn on YouTube and search for Nintendo stuff and not get a video essay about Mario 64 every single week for the rest of time nothing else is like that you know what I mean and that same channel will then upload a very similar thing for Pocopia when it comes out like there's a different sense of community and ecosystem that Nintendo has that no one else does so that's kind of my starting place okay so what next yeah for all the people sitting at this table so some extent we grew up with Super Nintendo and 64 Gamecube Gameboy Color Gameboy Advance all of that we are firmly and we've been moving here but we are firmly in the Wii Wii U DS 3DS era of nostalgia and the kids that are now making video essays about Mario 64 that played it for the very first time right yeah they are nostalgic for the DS

era for the weirdness of that okay I think Nintendo Nintendo switch online they showed it with the virtual boy they are willing to do weird hardware put out a second screen sell a second screen they can attach to the top USB set put the DS games on the library that'll excite people like no other on top of that this goes back to the themes conversation lean into the nostalgia in a crazy way let these people make the UI look totally different let it make it look like the the me plaza from Wii U like lean into all that weird fucking shit because that's what's gonna get people so enamored and in love with this thing where it's like yeah they're still waiting for the new Mario game the New Zelda and hopefully the weirder offshoot games and all that stuff but like the sense of community the Nintendo has I think that they have so much untapped potential right now because if you go on YouTube there's a generation you can call them Z you can call them Alpha you can call them Z-A I don't care what it is right there's this trend right now everyone

being like let's go back to analog man things aren't good anymore oh I'm gonna use a CD player I'm gonna watch all corny watch Blue Ray is like all of that shit right they're all saying it they're all I do when it's going to move theaters more than everybody else that's what they're saying yeah that's what they're saying and so cool if that's all happening it's like what's going on people are trying to buy 3DS is 3DS sky prices are skyrocketing on eBay right now because everyone's going to that Nintendo just beat them to the punch do it yourselves do it yourself I love that that's really good yeah I like that a lot street pass I mean yeah we had a we had a big discussion about this on games daily me and Mike are talking about just the fact that you still have mies and the fact that it is still like you can customize it you can still do all that shit just like I'm doing here in in total about you life and and anytime I turn on and play an old game with Ray on stream whether we're playing an old gears game and you have to boot into the old virtualized Xbox 360 dashboard I see my little player avatar that I created with my n7 costume

and there was just there's there's there's such a there's such a sense of like this is my home this is the thing that I have created and to not have a street pass with a portable console like this I think it's just like it's such a miss this came up with you and me right in the review of Tomodachi right where it's like they're in sight of some great stuff but they just fall short with this game and yeah the idea we're making these and you and me can share our mies together but I can't set it of this is my default me I'm putting it in sleep mode and when I walk around packs or the mall or whatever I'm sharing with everybody else and bringing them to my island nor can we do it wireless through the internet and email each other our mies it's like there's so many little things where it's back to this question a little bit or the super chat about losing the personality or bringing that back like that falls into that camp which makes me think they wouldn't do it to him not the double screen thing that I definitely believe also would you ever think of something of like something some kind of controller just to turn it on its side or yeah oh yeah I mean there's so many options that

they they can figure out like I think again one of the bigger misses of the the switch to thus far that like now in hindsight I'm more upset about than I thought I ever could be is that the C button is game chat that sucks and the only time I hit it is when I accidentally hit it yeah got me in it all trying to fucking put this isn't just a button this is more of like an entire thought process of what the design of this product is but it should have been a cast button it should have had the tech in the system which it does not have so we cannot do this to be able to connect to the TV via the dock so we can do dual screen things with the switch and the TV but we can't like the Wii U but we can't do that so that is a huge huge missed opportunity real quick on the end of all that please please please I want to give two shout outs because I it's been a long time since I've like found new YouTube creators that I'm like oh wow I watch every single video you put out even if I'm not that interested in the topic and there's two people that like I would qualify as at the very least in the realm of Nintendo YouTuber that are very different from each other

but um straw hat might as this young kid that just makes awesome videos and he's it feels like experiencing a lot of these Nintendo classics for the first time and I think he does a really good job a lot of it is very like 2010 style Nintendo YouTuber where he has that cadence he has a lot of what you would expect from it but he does like the Scott the Was you know you know but I love it man I like every time I watch something I'm like I'm getting a a fresh perspective on things that I really really love and I end up just watching all these videos put it on them on and I really enjoy it he puts things out of the great cadence and the other one is get Tammy started on hopes I hope so Isaac OS is the other one very different is a cool kid man I don't know how he might be like 23 or something shit but like he's yes cool tattoos he has cool hair I'm like Joseph but he's so cool and he just like goes into all this like he really is the like guy that's true we must return the offline gaming exactly he's dreaming of this the 3DS past you

know what I mean but he makes really really cool content reminds me a little bit more of the if straw hat might as this more Scott the Was this guy a little bit more naked jakey okay yeah I like that really quick I just want to shout out a great New Yorker our opinion piece that came out this morning talking about our longing for inconvenience going back to this I highly recommend people check it out for a second you're going to shout out a great New Yorker there's a lot of super chested delve into let me finish off zan fair who had said make Pokemon higher quality right but then take your time topping smash ultimate bring back classic 3D Zelda alongside open world and revive dead franchises let's take that dead franchises and move it over to mr piercine who also super chat and says there's so many IPs they can bring back that would be loved by everyone new fire emblem great new star fox great but there's more that can come back Tim do you think they need to expand that focus yes also star fox is one of those franchises star fox is the one that needs

I've said this for as long as I've been in front of a microphone I in fact I think that on the first episode of gamescast I was probably talking about how we need to fix star fox and I fingers crossed all the copium everything like this is I think this is their biggest shot at it especially coming off of the movie yeah um but I everything that we're hearing from these rumors sounds great specifically the the game's very funny the writing's very fun oh nice that's that's the rumor it's a classic style of our star box game with really funny writing I'm like that's what we need because I'm at the point of this where you know star box meant so much to me as a kid and I think the overall gameplay of star fox falls in line with vehicle combat twisted metal type games where it's I just don't know if that's a genre I want anymore and I remember getting super stoked for star wars the one where it's the multiplayer game with all of the family front are you talking about squad squadron yeah squad

ever that the bread the more recent one from like four years or twenty one yeah sim simmy yeah and getting super excited about that and going wow this this sounds awesome there's different like classes and you can bigger ship they're slower the smaller ones are faster they do more damage whatever and it came out I went I just don't really this is I thought I wanted this and I don't really want and that's my fear with star fox now on the flip side of that I did a lot of star fighting in starfield and I enjoyed that but a lot of that was the ownership of this is the ship that I love like taking that's my thing that I took in there so but you I mean I like based on the hype of star fox from that movie where I was like he's the coolest thing in this movie if you were to drop in and be like we are giving you a funny action adventure you're in the ship you do it it's fast battles in this that the other anders I'm assuming on the ground stuff we're running I'm like that's awesome I'll play that I'm buying my time and I could literally talk about this for way too long so I'll try to keep this short you're so right any the biggest problem is an on rail shooter in that is designed around replay

ability coming out in 2026 it's not going to save star fox like that sucks for me because I love that but it just isn't the case I do think that star fox had its best identity at star fox 64 and then since then has really kind of failed even when it was good star fox adventures which was made by rare a Zelda like game like it was just good it wasn't great and then star fox assault which was made by it wasn't pantynamco I think so where one third of the game was the on rail shooters and then one third of the game was in the tank and one third of the game was on foot shooting those bladder two things sucked gameplay wise story wise fucking awesome all they need to do is star fox assault but make all three parts good and then we have a win but I'd rather just have a little tank segment I would love to just you know you get you get a little hub world Tim and sometimes you get contracts about a bounty out there in the whatever system to take it it's getting the ship let's get in the R wing are we just so fucking sick man sickest thing in the world my picture what I went out of it then this might be more appropriate for maybe any developer that's making a star

fox like game I want to rogue like I feel like the star box star fox formula could work so well for those run base let me upgrade here let me you know go here and then you die and then start to run over again I feel like star fox kind of is kind of Taylor made for it I don't know if I want an antenna to make that for star fox literally but I think that type of game would be very fun my counterpoint to that is that the thing that I think is most important about nailing with star fox is the story and set pieces yeah it's which is I think is directly contradicting a rogue like you know what I mean unless you make build down the story like I hate these or something but that's a big bad yeah but like pretty cool gotta maybe those are the walking segments is your walking around your you know with your squad but also the revived head franchises in this I think I think it's it's funny because like this is clearly not a dead franchise in fact it's the opposite but I really want us all to focus on the fact that Kirby and the forgotten land happy where it's like so good we were another Kirby another Kirby another Kirby another Kirby and then all of a sudden there's this amazing game that changes the way we think about so good so if Kirby shows up and intended erect for at least a moment we're like is this gonna be good yeah and that happened

with Fire Emblem like I feel like whether they're dead franchises or existing franchises all it takes is little reinvention and all of a sudden it's an Nintendo game in like all caps premium you know I'll tell you what's gonna be a sleeper hit this year in terms of ratings I feel that one as well GTA 6 might be pretty good Splatoon Raiders oh that's it dude that's it I am so pumped for this video game because anytime I always enjoy their single player offerings whenever we are in this Splatoon world but it's you could tell it's like not that it's half baked because it's still enjoyable but you're like wow if you put your all into a Splatoon campaign and even like that roguelite mode was more fun than it should have been yeah no no no the much later update you know where you're actually like getting power ups and now this one you know your ammo explodes or whatever the hell I am I'm so pumped to see like all right now you have all of your thinking power into just story

stuff how cool and creative can we make these levels I'm really pumped for Splatoon Raiders I think I think it's gonna be a sleeper hit I agree and I think that it's gonna be the type of thing that changes the conversation around Splatoon from being like oh it's really big in the esports side of Japan to being like oh Splatoon is a major Nintendo franchise from a single player perspective and I care about it yeah like I said so many super chats coming through of course a while while I'm says shout out to the cast McDonald's book super Nintendo yes of course Kez has been through to talk I love it I read it had a great time with it really if you care about the history of Nintendo what I think separates them from your kind of parts some great stuff in there for reading it with my ears you know Aaron Limes is my pitch F zero I don't want to run around as Captain Falcon or whatever I like my racing games is racing games I just want to do one already it's the world ready for that Tim yeah I think they are but again we need to be very conscious about what the budget of that looks like and all that like I buried if you bring up F zero GX like that's to me

it's like that game is so good my problem is I don't know that they can make an F zero better than that like that it's so fantastic like that game is the fastest looking game I've ever seen and came out in 2002 but it really nailed what's going on and it's available on the GameCube Online that's such like a 90s TV commercial thing to say this is the fastest game I've ever seen it really is though it's like it's absolutely awesome kid with his hair like on fire uncle that's right saying it says the Mario Kart bundle is 899 99 Canadian I had a controller and I'm paying over $1,000 Canadian most Nintendo games here cost 120 that's a pricey toy yeah you're talking about the you have free health care man you got it if I break my leg I'm right you're done that's it yeah that shit sucks and it's always the reality I think I think blessing talked about his sort of sticker shock with somebody recently bringing up the price of a game but they were talking about Canadian

yeah they're talking about I got a text from a friend that was like a copia is $100 and I was like what and I was like you can't just say that yeah and they're wrong that was the Canadian price so sorry Canada it sucks and I mean like that's across the board no in terms of what you're seeing on the other platforms as well like all of our toys are expensive right now and that sucks yeah it does suck and and not to defend it but just the reality of it it's like well that is the cost of Nintendo finally being at some level of parity with the other consoles uh well so I want to get in here Tim this is a very specific one from Starry Fox Tim have you found any joy con replacements or accessories I just got my nikes hi period three and love them uh no I haven't I actually really love the joy contours they're like just big enough that to me the tradeoff of how portable this thing is makes up for the fact that yes of course I would prefer bigger handles and and buttons in this vein of course Dante writes and it says easiest mix joy con to pro I need a real D pad and handheld node I'd happily pay money for this more arrogant

aerodynamic aerodynamic on the back buttons would be nice too and then let's do our final one right here uh get there says the way to fix Nintendo is to keep wishing for a Mario 64 remake after an ocarina of time remake yeah man I don't want a Mario 64 remake and this is me being selfish because I'm gonna cry when they do ocarina of time remake if that's real and it's awesome and I I'll fucking lose it that's my Zelda game right but I'm excited for the next 3d Mario but I want it to be go make what do you want it what do you got don't try to remake 64 well the only reason I don't want a Mario 64 remake is that the the emulators already did it better than ever project 64 render 96 on a not project 64 that's the emulator render 96 is the dream Mario 64 remake they've done every single thing you possibly want from a actual remake of that game I want a retake at Mario 64 oh like same castle add more paintings more stars in those paintings like that that'd be my dream after beating galaxy two recently for the first time all I want is a

galaxy three I mean like it god damn that I'm halfway I was happy to do the game was like this is my favorite this is probably my favorite Mario of all time and it now is it what a game tell you well everybody that's how weed fixed Nintendo but what about you let us know in the comments below of course and always feel free to yell that's when we're live on twitch dot tv slash kind of funny games youtube dot com slash kind of funny games podcast services around the globe remember we're all about live talk shows which means the show isn't over here Andy and I are jumping into more tomodachi life living the dream to see who else he's created is making me right now I am yeah I'm kind of I'm on some grace of the beard love that thank you very much yes yes don't let me get away of course you can watch that later on youtube dot com slash kind of funny games if you're not watching live right now but no matter where you're watching like subscribe share remember if you have amazon prime you have twitch prime it gives you a free subscription over on twitch we'd love you to go over there and give it to us we don't have to be live to get it from you you could do it anytime this weekend and never worry about it again until 30 days later when
