People were absolutely outraged when they found out they had been duped. But look at what that prank achieved mechanically. Right. You'd have to abide by their schedules, their rules, their unions. He'd be an employee, basically. Right. By dicking his heels in and insisting the production stay in New Zealand, Jackson essentially forced the studio to fund the creation of his own infrastructure.
