A reduction in the fuel excise is now in force, wiping 26 cents from a liter of petrol or diesel.

Legislation to half the fuel excise has passed through Parliament.

The $2.5 billion measure will be in place for three months.

It will save motorists about $20 on a tank of petrol or diesel.

But drivers have been told not to expect to see the lower prices straight away,

with the saving expected to take up to a fortnight to make its way through the entire fuel network.

The road user charge for truck drivers will also be paused for three months.

Economists believe the temporary changes could still push up inflation

and any saving eaten up by higher oil prices.

Providers banned from the NDIS could face jail time if they continue providing services to the program.

New legislation means everyone who works in the National Disability Insurance Scheme has to be registered.

Providers who trick participants into spending more funds than necessary will also be facing harsher penalties.

NDIS Minister Jenny McCallister says the changes will better protect those using the scheme.

If you think you can get away with chunky marketing, which tricks NDIS participants into misusing their funding,

then we will find you as much as $400,000.

We want this scheme to work for participants, not for people looking to make a buck of the back of exploiting people with disability.

House prices around the country rose by just under 1% last month.

Experts say ongoing affordability challenges have cut auction clearance rates.

Cotality Research Director Tim Lawler says it's a slowdown from the growth of last year.

When housing dollars are rising at a little bit more than 1% month on month.

But there is a lot of diversity under these numbers.

And we're seeing a real diversity between the midsize capitals and the larger capitals,

but also the regional market to the held quite resilient as well.

Health professionals are calling for more education around the use of weight loss drugs treatments like a Zempick are now used by over half a million Australians per month.

But Oz Active Chief Executive Ken Griffin says they need to be prescribed as part of a holistic plan.

These medications can play an important role, but they can't be a standalone solution because of the risk of side effects.

So the success of the medication will depend on whether they are integrated into a supportive preventative long term behavior change program.

And King Charles and Queen Camilla will visit the United States on the first UK U.S. Royal Tour since 2007.

Buckingham Palace announced the visit on the advice of his majesty's government confirming the tour in late April to coincide with the 250th anniversary of American independence.

President Trump posted on Truth Social saying he looks forward to spending time with the king that it will be terrific.

It is expected King Charles will address Congress while their majesty's may also visit New York.

The king will then make a solo trip to Bermuda.
