You know, we talked about this on Tuesday when Mel Kiper had his mock draft and he had Ty Simpson going to the jets, I think at 16 and then I just saw this article that here's the headline Alabama's quarterback Ty Simpson appears to be tumbling down draft boards. The ringers Todd McShay said that an AFC North team isn't even looking at the quarterback. And instead they're looking at Carson Beck, let's see, what else do we have? Multiple scouts don't view Ty Simpson as a first rounder NFL media's Daniel Jeremiah published

5:10his third mock draft on Tuesday had no team selecting Simpson in the first round. Somebody else said he's seen as more of a third round pick who might get pushed up into the second round because of a week overall class. He's only six one to 11 lacks prototypical size for an NFL quarterback and elite arm talent. I don't see anything else in here. Okay. What changed? Like what, what, what, wait, are you throwing the BS flag? I am, Danny. Okay. Okay. I see it. We need a real BS flag. Okay. There's a time there's a story that comes out weeks before the draft that a player is tumbling down the draft boards. That sounds like an agenda. That sounds like a blank team who's picking 22nd wants him to go down the draft board so they get him and they use media to do so. Okay. But he hasn't played a game in how many months now all of a sudden people are surprised

6:13that he's six one to 11. He's not your prototypical type quarterback size wise. Like nothing changed here. This is where I'm always, this is where teams talk their way into trouble. They talk their way out of a, you know, a good player like you overthink it. But based off what he did during the season, he looks like a pro quarterback and he, I thought he kind of handled the adversity pretty well. And if you're not taking him, are you taking Carson back? And I talked to somebody yesterday to say, hey, if the Steelers take a quarterback, they're going to take Carson back over Ty Simpson and I said, I don't, I don't think I'd take either one. Once again, why do you need to take a quarterback this year? If next year is going to be so great, but it's always next year is always so great. But if you don't take one now, unless that's the guy you really want, it's like, well,

7:15I don't know. Back up quarterback or let's take a chance on, all right, Carson back, Ty Simpson, but this is what teams do, like, and is there a smear campaign going on that all of a sudden everybody put out their mock draft, everybody had the same opinion on Tyson, I don't know. It could be some shady nefarious stuff going on here, Tarnishing Ty Simpson, how dare you? Yes, Pauline. And if you look around, you can find a story 24 hours ago, the jets are high on Ty Simpson at the 16th pick. Yeah. But that doesn't mean, you know, it doesn't mean the other people aren't wrong just because of the jets. You know what? In fact, it might strengthen the argument with all the other, you know, teams are letting him tumble. The jets are like, he's our guy. Yes, Todd. And our analysts, I guess they are analysts, insiders so quick to either be first or try to

8:19get a story out and get some quotes, even if they know deep down, it might be BS, like Paulie was saying, and they're being used in some fashion. Why they in such a rush to be used as a journalist that throw stuff out there that could be blatantly false. Well, I don't know. I don't know if they're being used. I'm just saying the coincidence of this, but then you had Mel Kuiper saying that the jets, he had them taking Ty Simpson number 16. But the fact that this week, you've got three different publications or people who are putting their name to Ty Simpson is tumbling down the draft boards. I don't know. Because this is what happens. There's going to be the love for Ty Simpson, which maybe we've had. And yeah, the negative Ty Simpson stories. And then maybe he stages a comeback, even though he's not playing in a game, but now all of a sudden it's like, you know, that Ty Simpson, the comeback story, you know. But maybe he is a third round pick. Maybe you'll be in the second round because somebody will get desperate for a quarterback.

9:23That's the problem I have. It's the only position where you get desperate. And that's the position you shouldn't be desperate in trying to get somebody. But teams do it every single year, but that just came down, came out, so I was a little bit surprised. I had seen Polk question for the final hour of the program is going to be what? Yeah, let me update you here from the first two. We had a couple of World Baseball Classic Polk questions. The World Baseball Classic should stay in the preseason or go to the All-Star break. That's at about 55% right now, have it staying in the preseason. People are pretty curious about moving it over to the All-Star break though. Okay. That's kind of fun. Yeah. And then we also have the World Baseball Classic should be played every four years, three years, two years, four years, edging them out. My source says Howard University got 2.1 for making the tournament another 2.1 for winning last night. That's a lot of money for the athletic department there.

10:28Yeah, Paulie. I saw this story too about the payments they're spread out over years at 355 per year. Yeah. In fact, my source says, let's see, the next six years, Howard's win, they get 4.2 million total over the next six years. So that and the Miyak, the conference that they're in. So it's spread out over that, yes, Todd. You don't have the option to take it in one lump sum. I don't think it's like winning the lottery. Yes, Paul. And the Miyak is not the Mac with two A's, right? This is MEAC, the Mac. We've been discussing the retiring of numbers because Matt Liner at USC is asking a couple of times to have him unretire his jersey number, number 11. So we're kind of cheers. Everybody knows who's shelly long. I mean, Dylan, Dylan is, I mean, I wear a dress, so yeah, yeah, Seaton. I think being compared to Norm from Cheers is one of the greatest compliments I've ever got in my entire life. And to be fair, Sam alone was, he didn't drink when he owned Cheers. Hair piece though. What are your thoughts on that? Whoa. I don't have a hair piece. No, I don't. Just compared to a guy who has a hair piece. I thought it was a pretty good hair piece back then. 14:45If you guys know anything about how these guys got into getting big money, you'll know that Pete was the one who jumped from the bills to the giants, which started, I don't know what the term is, I'll call it, he undermined the no poaching law, which then erupted into these multi, multi, multi, million dollar contracts that we're seeing today. Well, you had contracts with the AFL and the NFL as well that created large contracts. But thank you, David. I think Gogalak's number was three. Does that sound right? But the AFL and the NFL, because there was a bidding war with Joe Namath, you know, he had players that were going, you know, they could decide between the AFL and NFL. One other item that I want to bring to your attention, I found out yesterday that our partnership with Trigger is coming to an end and, you know, 10 years.

15:45And so look, this is business, but they were an integral part of their show for 10 years. And I hope to maintain friendship with people there at Trigger. But you know, they're going into different direction. They're trying to kind of reset what they're doing. We wanted to be fair to them that if that's what they wanted to do, then, you know, fine. So, you know, we had been talking with Trigger for a little while. And that's why we, you know, didn't show, you know, us outside by the Triggers because we didn't know if they were going to stay. We had hoped that they would stay for the final two years of the show, but it was a great run. And I'm very proud of the sponsors that we have and that we keep for years and years and years and years. And Trigger was, you know, right there at the front, we had great relationship, had a lot of fun. And I go back to the meat Friday songs that we had.

I mean, Nick Wright brought up Tyler Hansbroe. And before you go, Tyler Hansbroe, for a long time, he was the old time leading

23:58score in the ACC, but a lot of these players, if you think about nowadays, it's only playing one year. You know, Tim Duncan played four grand hill, Patrick Ewing, Latener, Walton. They all played. They stayed. It's different because you get to see a full college career. Now it's just one year. Like you can take Carmelo, if you want to, for one year, but I mean, magic played for a couple of years. He had two years at Michigan State. Yeah, Polly. Tyler Hansbroe was the Frank Gore of college basketball. He was good for a long, long time. No offense. Is he still the old time leading score in ACC history? Yeah. Armando Baycott played about 11 years. I don't, I don't, I think he caught him rebound wise. Okay. But a good pull by me. Tyler Hansbroe was a, you know, he was a 2010 guy for six years. Polly, yourself on the back there, let me call by me. But if you think about it, you've got to be just good enough to put up these

25:01big numbers, but not that good where you leave after one or two years. I get some tricky formula where you go, man, he's the, he's going to be the all time leading score. I'm going to throw this at you and you're going to say you are 100% right. And the other guys are going to have no white data. Roosevelt Chapman had the greatest full game run as a UD. 26:02Let's shrimp. He had another 28 or 29. So you talk about the greatest players. You know, Larry Bird to me was the all time great college player. But guys like that made this special. Yeah, velvet was only six four. But and he wasn't a great shooter. But he would go up against seven footers. I remember that Dayton played Minnesota. Randy Brewer was seven three. And I think velvet dunked on him in traffic. And you know, Roosevelt wasn't a great pro because he was a six four guy who played inside. But that run with Dayton, uh, that's pretty incredible. They, uh, they went toe to toe. But velvet's not better than Donnie May. Donnie, Donnie May led the nation in rebounding at six five. Um, he was a, he was a great shooter.

27:05Like to the nicks, uh, but velvet had a great run. I mean, Dayton, you see, like it feels like every seven to ten years, they'll be like, oh, there's Jim Paxon. You know, there's, uh, Donald Smith. There is Donnie May, velvet Chapman. Yes, Mark. COVID stopped dating from a possible national champion. That's true. We've all had the despair, it's just not a good time. Why are you bringing it back to you? I'm trying to share in what Marvin went through in that moment that it happened to other people. It's not about bringing it to me. We can share and then we've all screwed up at a time. And when you get angry like that, it's upsetting. It's jarring. It's jarring. It's a jarring look that you gave me at it could last hours or days or maybe weeks. Yes, Paul. Fritzie found a way to make Marvin's bad day about him. Pretty talented thing to be with you. Jordan's a bowling and a punch in the face. But then you'll be Steve Kerr or LeBron, Dragon, you know, Booby Gibson and J.R. Smith, the championships, Love and Encouragement, Powerful Tool. I'm not sure what the right answer is.

37:17Oh, I don't know about the leadership. Leadership is when you go out and do something. That's the way I always viewed it. It's not somebody who's going to give you words of wisdom because you just go out there and you play. And you lead, by example, I always felt that. I'm not going to ask you to do something that I'm not going to do. Follow me. Watch what I do. Leadership, chemistry, those are always tricky words. We use them a lot, but, you know, Mike was a leader just because you had, you had to keep up with him. He demanded perfection. He wasn't a great teammate. I don't think he was kind, nice, friendly to a lot of his. I mean, he's not a huggable, cuddly guy. And I don't know LeBron. I mean, I knew players who played with the Bulls.

38:17You know, who said, boy, LeBron's a great leader. Great leaders when you come out and score 25 consecutive points in a playoff game. You lead the league and scoring. You play for 22 years. That is the kind of leader, but they'd led in different ways. I mean, if LeBron did what Michael did, like, just do the Steve Kerr punching in the face. How would social media deal with LeBron? Mike did it and like, yeah, man, that's what you want, man. He's going to fight you. He punched Steve Kerr in the face. Yes, Martin. First take would have been on. It would have been a four hour show. It would have been a marathon. They would have done a telethon on LeBron punching a teammate. Oh, my God. I have a friend who just said, fritzy is the guy who would figure out a way to make a no-look pass to himself.

39:17Well said. Yeah, but as far as leaders go, I don't know if Larry Bird was a great leader. Other than Larry Bird went on to the floor and you go, I'm going to follow him. I can get faith in that guy, confident. Cal Rip can play every single game. That's pretty good leadership. He's out there every single day. Yes, Martin. Right.
