005am I'm up with a crisp Celsius energy drink running 12 miles today grab a green juice quick change and head to work meetings workshops one more Celsius no slowing down working late but obviously still meeting the girls for a little dancing Celsius live fit go grab a cold refreshing Celsius at your local retailer or locate now at Celsius dot com this is the T. P. H. Rowan and Rothenburg podcast let the wild the rump is big it listen live weekday mornings from 6 to 10 a.m. on 880 ESPN in New York the ESPN New York app and on YouTube by subscribing to the ESPN New York YouTube channel it's time to go around the league we'll start with this one that came out overnight uh... NFL owners they're quote alarmed by the state of negotiations with the referees association and have authorized staff members to begin hiring and onboarding replacement

02officials in the coming weeks according to league sources at the start of league meetings the NFL began compiling a list of college level officials to recruit earlier this month and owners are expected this week to prove a sweeping set of replay enhancements to support replacement officials in preseason and regular season games a league source says that training of the new officials will begin may first according to a source once that happens the opportunity to reach an agreement with our current union becomes a bigger challenge just from civil economics that effectively leaves about a month for the sides to bridge what league sources said are wide gaps in their proposals from economics to the seasonal structure of the job the NFL's collective bargain agreement with the NFL R.A. expires on May 31st the leak sent a memo to each club last week prohibiting public comment on the situation this would be an absolute disaster last time we had this we had games that were called incorrectly i understand that you never want to get into somebody else's pocket but the

03amount of money this league makes if they allow replacement officials to do this again it's going to be a real bad look and with the amount of money wagered on games it'll be a real bad look for the NFL it's going to be horrendous look horrendous look i mean we talk about how often that i mean that arja we check i mean how many of the officials that we have now are full-time referees i thought none of them are for any are no i think there are so time i think there are some full-time there are now it used to be that are so more full-time they had other jobs right well i mean like i'd hockey was it was an attorney like right get all the full-time talking about that i mean not to mention the fact that some of the guys that are doing the tv stuff should be doing the regular games well like gene sterator right i mean it's just the i get that it's an negotiation and you know it both sides looking for the best possible that we cannot have an NFL season with replacement referees uh... so i i and i feel referees are generally part-time employees with

05outside careers despite very high-stake roles in the league uh... still all of them uh... most are part-time the league is employed a small number of officials full-time in the past yeah i'm trying to figure out exactly how many that is yeah they should all be full-time so how much money are we talking about like this would be so dumb for the NFL i read narcole this morning that they were looking for i gotta find out i got i got some time tell us arrow info for you so so he said ton pelicero said this morning uh... the NFL has offered game officials a six-year deal six point four five percent annual growth rate blah blah blah while the NFL r.a. is insisting on ten percent plus two point five million for marketing fees the union also continues to resist the changes the NFL is insisting upon including shortening the quote dark period after the super bowl deploying underperforming officials to spring leaves for extra reps and ending a seniority based system for playoff assignments we want to pay for

05performance said the source the officials are not so on board with that yeah if there are full-time raps that are disclosed who they are right now but the average this from the species of the average three hundred eighty five thousand uh... s i had it at around two hundred five two hundred five thousand per per year for us she has these article and read right now says that the average NFL official earned three hundred eighty five thousand twenty twenty five so i got a lot of money for a seasonal job that's pretty good and apparently the the NFL referees association just put out a statement about five minutes ago so this will this will continue to get ugly as of late march twenty twenty six which is now the league has proposed hiring seventeen referees full-time one per crew to review performance and assist with training other officials so is he actually put part of the crew on the field or is he in a supervisor all it sounds like uh... not sure it sounds like he's the head like he's the head of the head official of every crew might be full full-time employee of the NFL

06but i don't know twenty twenty six and i felt does not employ its roughly one hundred twenty twenty one hundred twenty one officials is full-time employees most referees hold other full-time jobs in the league has historically resisted full-time employment employment for their official you know i'm like wasn't at hockey league like famously a lawyer yes i said that i can tell you though rick i just said if that was you know what yes i'm gonna go i'm gonna leave i don't want you to go i i just said this i apologize and then you're like he wasn't i mean you you quoted me do you understand what happens if i do that that that becomes like a half-hour conversation on the show it could be a half-hour conversation if you know alright then we move on we get a laugh and we discuss it a little i just said that it's on the would you would you rather would you rather wasn't it didn't at hockey league famously have like a full-time law job yes at the same very thing i said about four minutes ago sounds like we're discussing would you like me to say that he had that law office in Brooklyn

08which is a separate state from New York would you like that didn't you know it now you won me over okay good yes glad glad for that uh... somebody who's winning over big jets aron glenn has made it clear what role geno smith has with the team glenn was on NFL networks on day and this is what he said about what it means to have geno on the roster it means to have a by bonafide starter come in and and and leave this office to where it needs to go listen he's he's done a couple of years me those years in Seattle when he was come back clear to year man he was up for mbp early in the season there's no down my mind that we brought a a competent starter here in this team i look forward to him getting the building so just to be clear geno smith is the starting word out about it he's our guy no doubt about it those couple years he's definitely better than just the fields yes well just a few can't throw the football uh... that's true and that is great that is a lot is a legitimate i think we also i think we all recognize to going into the season that that may be an issue right that can mean that was

10that was the one thing that kind of stood in the way of of just infields actually being a really good starting quarterback was the throwing part but they told us that this whole offensive scheme is going to be built around just infields and don't worry about the videos that you saw in training camp he's going to be fine they miss calculated it didn't work out ignore that man in the corner didn't work out uh... somebody else would be fine for that job possibly maybe ty simpson so after his pro day performance he's feeling pretty good says he's been invited to pittsburg for the draft which implies he'll be a first-round pick and he hasn't made a decision whether or not he'll attend but he does believe he should be a day one pick i love football uh... and i want to make other people better you know when i come in her program program changes you know i don't just make you know myself better make other people better so if you drive me and you want me to be a franchise quarterback i'm not just coming into it and look after myself i'm looking after the whole team to make sure that i leave it better than where i left it

13let's go top top fifteen top ten whatever bros was convinced bros was convinced he goes higher than sixteen i'm sorry to believe that yeah he might the thing that would upset me well listen if he's really good at not going to make any difference but is if if the judge really like him and they have to move up to get them that be upsetting i don't know if the the way that rich minima sound is that's not something that they're necessarily and we want to do because they also recognize they get three first-round picks in twenty twenty seven so they don't have to take take the quarterback especially if it includes you know trading up from sixteen to get them yet out that would be a problem i just again i don't know i mean i don't know that the rams at some point are going to be interested in taking a quarterback but there are i mean it did they want to use the thirteenth overall pick when they're trying to win a soup ball right now you wouldn't think so are you gonna get a dynamic player thirteen correct so you wouldn't think so and they traded their second you know their second version i'll pick the candidacy league meetings means gm's get to come out and speak

14talk all sorts of topics so will start in San Francisco john lynch he holds court one topic that came up was well that uh... electric substation near the forty nine percent of the by leave by stadium so lynch vowed at the end of the season you remember to investigate anything that might have contributed to the rash of injuries they had that included the viral theory that the substation had an adverse effect on the player so lynch ruled out the substation and provided tangible steps the team is taking to attempt to reduce future injuries according to lynch the niners hide an independent scientists to study the substation and see whether there was anything to the idea that the facility could be contributing to injuries he said it was basically a big nothing burger we're in a safe place of work it's a normal place of work it's a normal gym we are safe we're healthy and we feel really good about that he also says there's positive momentum on the trend winds front on a reworked contract over the last week i i would like that i wouldn't want to spend day after day after day next to the substation like that

15i'm not saying anything's wrong with it i just would prefer not to yeah i don't again i mean they do you have as many you know scientists check that thing out i'm with you until until they officially like you don't know like they may do the testing it may come up fine it may be a non-issue and until fifty years from now they're like oh you know we we miscalculated that by the way i just it feels like they get hurt a lot all all the time yeah they do get hurt a lot but generally the niners are good organization in another nugget that i i saw mentioned by him was that they pay attention to those report cards that come out and they make adjustments like i think that he saw that the forty niners had like a c-minus on on some of their trainers so they i saw that he spent like nine million dollars like hot tubs and get all sorts of stuff cold top recovery equipment that's that's a isn't that what a good organization would do that's exactly what i'm getting out there critiqued and look at what people are sowered on and get better better right but the reality is though i mean they should they have to be

17like should you probably you know we should your players have to grade you poorly for you to make improvements well that's why they don't know but that's why it exists right you would you would hope that but i mean that it's just we don't have got when we were bringing in cold tubs i mean shouldn't they already have cold tubs they probably do maybe they maybe they stink so the only thing i'll say to that is and rick you're one hundred percent right i couldn't agree with you more is that the NFL has proven time and time again all these leaks really that you know that no matter how much money they'll make they'll they'll take shortcuts where they can and that if they don't feel that they have to spend money on that you know they're not gonna they're not gonna pay the effect i mean come on i guess that's it uh how we rose many the eagles he also spoke and he has one answer to every question about a j brown no literally one answer for every question he says he understands there's interest unfortunately i don't have a home under a rock his words but my answer to any question on a j brown is a j brown is a member of the eagles from my perspective anything you ask me about a j brown i'm going to go right back to that answer but i understand the interest i

17put on tv and i see there's interest but my answer is a j brown is a member of the Philadelphia Eagles all right well you can't crush him for that it sounds like they're asking for a lot so unless somebody meets those demands he's probably gonna wind up as a member of the eagles this year right it also makes sense financially to go post june one anyway with them correct uh dead cap hit is 40 million if it's before june first compared to 20 million after uh brown but wasn't i mean the thought all along was and i know the pictures are already kind of addressed it and but it was gonna be variable because of his real issue with a j brown that he had some pointed up on the paper it's right and they could use a wide receiver right yeah but they just uh who do they just pay they just the pictures just paid a wide receiver they just they just moved on from digs right yeah they moved on from digs they just got they just paid someone in free agency argy who do the pictures just sign but clearly he doesn't know because he didn't say no but he can do but he can do it for me our dogs thank you oh that's right bro more dogs in the big helmet yeah uh another gm browns like the

18children's book browns are very big helmet uh he wants to clear up a misconception he says the modified language in mouse guy's contract last week is unrelated to a possible trade for the rainy defensive player of the year uh in the amended terms that were first reported by field the hd date for option bonuses to be exercised in the contract was pushed back from the 15th day of each league year to seven days before the regular season each year so that change would make a trade after june first in which the dead cap would be split between 2026 and 2027 that makes it more palatable for Cleveland but buried did not explain the reasoning for the contract change but he says this is not a precursor to a trade miles is a queer brown he is one of the faces of our organization i think we've been very clear both past and present in terms of our feelings and stuff i understand all the questions i'll be asked i don't really want to waste a ton more breath on how does he still have a job

18Andrew Barry i don't know i was reading this weekend it looks like they're starting quarterback week one is going to be um the shawnt Watson oh no that may honest no joke and this is not hyperbole they make that may go down as the worst it's got a car trade contract ever yeah wasn't what they gave up 140 million guaranteed for 230 to 30 for a guy that well look what they gave up right if you have you ever seen like what all those picks has turned itself into yes yeah not to mention the fact that i mean you guarantee them 230 and it doesn't it's smart too they may you can sit here and say that he's the face of the franchise and everything else i mean at some point miles garrick could just be i'm done we stink i want to go somewhere else you happy you made him happy because you paid him 40 million bucks a year but at some point you can only don't you can only take so much losing in one spot uh the browns will not be signing defensive in a j a panessa the team's uncomfortable finalizing the deal after he had his physical so they had agreed to a one-year deal up to up to five million dollars on March 18th he

23visited the facility last monday that's what the NFL's transaction wire says but the deal was not finalized he was expected to add depth to this offensive line rotation after Cameron Thomas signed with the Falcons uh the physical another failed physical situation uh the giants have released kicker gram ganot which means farewell sweet prince to this ganologano ganologano ganologano senor ganologano it's one of the all-time great calls you're right but that's the but that's not for the giant it was against the giant it was against the giant it was against the giant that's what made it so great he's he's playing it because he's evil i can understand why it's a great call what are you talking about that's all right i can understand why you meet the days mean to you ganologano ganologano ganologano senor ganologano you're playing it because you're a bad guy it's a great call yeah uh-huh ganologano ganologano come on that's a great call the play on words

27how can we never play raise the mistakes by the way we play them all the time no you got some great ones we play them all the time what are you talking about but i i miss them here i'll give you one oh if i had this up we've got to refill no no free no that's exactly the one that's exactly the one's going for i i like memorial day also that's yeah no what's the other one he said one one one one one one one i can get that get it get it get it and i lean one male yeah that's a good one that's how is one male i don't know one that's not even a name combination between one and male kaiper i don't know that's got to be one that sticks with you forever ahead of the hell they all stick with me forever what are you talking about that's a tough one ahead of the con cackef oh my god i wasn't here for that we you've i played you that one i know i love it what what the hell was that it's trying to say conca cackef no i i understand but why did you say conca cackef ahead of the cackef i don't know spain yeah this one first game

30the motherland that's my favorite that's your favorite one spain so spain spain first game first game in the motherland in the motherland that's so good that might be i don't know can you play the memorial day one for me please that's a special one here hang on because you try to because you try to screw up you try to get ready no because because if i tried to get rid of it i would have pulled the obviously the reason for the holiday it's memorial day guys listen um the saying is some gave all some some gave all obviously they want to put it on t-shirts some gave all um some great if we're going to do a ray t-shirt that's going to be your first t i don't know spain the motherland that's really good listen i i would buy the the spain the motherland one i'm spain first game in the motherland that's not that i think that might be the you know what that one is i like that one actually that's the mets and Yankees have the night off yeah that's you don't know what the hell you're saying there

30no i know exactly what i'm saying really i know exactly what i'm saying pain oh what's what's my last name Dave but ray it says the other if you listen to that it sounds like you have there is nothing going on in your brain at that moment really listen to it again i know that that's no the the memorial day one is way worse if we're staying if we're talking about first game in the motherland if you're comparing if you're comparing one to the mets and Yankees having the day off the memorial day fits that one way better way better i don't know if that if that's the comp it's just it's the tiny avoid spain one might it might be my it might be my favorite one i'm telling you i think it's a good one it's so good refills of course is like the old staple refills is really the tonic of voices just no free no ref but we know but we never play them right why don't we ever play well now just because i brought it up i know i just can't we play these all the time yeah but you haven't played it long enough where i forgot i was sponed you were talking about being the mother oh my goodness spain spain uh let's finish up here uh the bills have re-signed safety

33to marhamlin 21 year deal come on uh and one last piece on the NFL draft or i guess it's not really the NFL draft because a significant legal hurdle for trinidad chambles uh to play in 2026 college football was cleared on friday so the NCAA position to the Mississippi Supreme Court about a state court ruling technically permission to appeal the ruling that will allow chambles to play in 2026 you understand all that uh that was a what does that mean it was in a appeal to a child it was an appeal to appeal to an appeal basically he's allowed to play college football this year correct here's what we have the supreme court in Mississippi released the ruling and did not offer details but the case will continue but it's unlikely here's the key it's unlikely to be concluded before the end of next season which means he's expected to play football for the rebels this year i'm going to do at the end of next season like you were not supposed to pass those how much they take are we all on board with like the NCAA has they've lost all

34control zero juice they've lost right they got no juice zero like there's there's there's they've outlast there's no more use for the NCAA uh correct i don't even know how far we are from just the big schools having complete anarchy yeah just not just breaking off the schools just becoming a minor league yeah i mean we've gone from power five to power four and why don't we just gather to the top 40-50 teams and they kind of do their own thing let's go but why are we also pretending like yet trinidad chambles going back to colleges on a good thing for college football that's a great great thing that's great for college football right so what are we trying to push him on the NCAA trying to push him out it's also great if you're if you're quarterback needy in 2027 well that's what makes college football great right now that's a it's it's a legitimate feeder system not the college basketball is not because college basketball is getting a lot of the i mean Dave you know that's like a lot of the international kids like they're coming over now they're not playing in like the euro leagues and things like that as the teenager because they can get paid here again and i own money but imagine if like these Duke kids all went back to school like then what the storyline to be there would be awesome yeah but a lot of them are coming out to the draft what's it stinks i mean look look at the college basketball now you don't get any

37upsets in the tournament anymore yeah yeah you you can win you can i mean some of these schools could probably win a game or two but that you're not make you're not making that deep you'll get Cinderella runs anymore no it's two it's too hard to win four five games for these smaller schools unless you unless you pull the basketball version of what Indiana did and just load up on all these transfers who weren't high as highly touted what you think by indian indian has got a pile of money though yes that helps that helps too the big ten is going to win everything now yes how many they've won what three straight different teams winning the college football championship right indian again Ohio state and Michigan yeah i think we i could have sworn like two years ago we talked about that i think we did yeah was it the big 10 now with all the big day because they they and that's why it seemed like Alabama might not ever be Alabama again they just don't have that same kind of money you think that nix savings dumb i think nix savings very smart they saw the writing on the wall yeah he knew that's everything doesn't have a ls u dot ls what a what a

40bizarre program ls ls u throws around money like well and they'll take it like even if you leave an awful standing they'll take you back they don't care come on come home right then we'll take you back come on rj which is your favorite of the Raymond drops oh yeah i feel like it's recently bias right here in the we haven't played the spain motherland drop so good first game mmm the motherland i feel like there's such confusion going on there it's the pause between in in the motherland but i can tell i can tell you i was not confused at that at that point why did you sound like that i spain right you know it reminds me it reminds me when i try to like be cute and speaks yes see it's more it's more that it's it's way more it's way more like that it's way more like that than it is any sort of confusion i agree with that oh spain oh spain a motherland first game back in the motherland all right um with

46hum no i did not just think i okc i think is better and there's no shame in that no now there's no shame in that again but it's it's one of those games that as we you know as we finish up the season that you kind of you know want to see where you're at it's a good litmus test and i think to answer the test is there they're better but i think i don't think anybody would argue that like i think we knew they were better they beat you at the garden it was a close game you got a lot of the oh one nicks really competed well well that's what we're looking for last night nicks competed really well and again i think it's just hammered home Oklahoma city is a better team than the next door yeah and then the other bummer is i mean you're looking forward to getting doose back he's finally comes back for five minutes and then now who knows you know who knows what's going on with him i've had those i've listen i don't know exactly what a surgery was but i know having the the sports area that core you know core surgery that when you come back there is

47like there are times when you feel like oh no i think i just hurt myself again and it's kind of like a scar tissue in the area breaking up so hopefully that maybe is what happened but i mean his reaction to it like yeah it certainly didn't look good no no but again i convinced the hardest part with this whole thing is that you go through all the you know all the rehab and everything else and you start to get yourself ready and you're you know you're doing the scrimmaging and everything else but never are you putting yourself in a position like he was in last night right like you completely it's a real game so now you completely let yourself go as opposed to protecting yourself to get back and then you know your fingers crossed you see how how you can hold up and of course you barely get a chance to see a great and i was so excited for him to return right we all he's going to come back he's going to add a huge dimension he's a terrific three-point shooter is a good defender like he's exactly what you need and now you can't feel confident you're going to see him again anytime soon no we don't know again i we have no idea but he's i mean he missed and he missed

47i mean that he missed a good chunk of time and now to finally get him back knowing that we're getting close to the playoffs right and i think he actually played 10 minutes last night and now you don't know what's going to happen now that on the i guess positive it sounds like Landry shaman is not too far off so he'll come back and depth is not at least i don't think depth is not really the concern for this team right they have a lot of depth no this is a much deeper team than than you saw last season there's no question about that i think that's why they were such i mean that such excitement it's such high expectations is you watch the team that again may have been a year early get to the Eastern conference finals and now you have the real the same returning core group of players plus you've added you know you've had a depth to it is all right here we go right and you got a healthy milcher Robinson yep and you have the same starting lineup in Josh Hart and you know right he's had his minutes taken back a little bit but again you you got shaman and now you have alvarado to the mix so you do have hey you got Clarkson like you have i mean this you got you got a good bench right i mean you got the depth that you need just having doose back a guy that's been through it right i mean would have been well you wanted the option

51of having doose big pride right correct but he decided to play or not that's up up to you but you wanted the option um he was actually i mean he was also shooting the three really well before he got really really well and and he's a good defender can handle the ball i think we have to we have to have a like a moment here where we we acknowledge that the nicks are not going to get the two seed i feel like that yeah yeah that's listen and again i mean they have not they have not spent the season acting like it's that big of a deal so again i mean you get you get what you get right and now you have a highly motivated Boston team that is you know clearly paying attention what people are saying and again i'm pretty sure that they're probably have you circled on their their list of teams to get out of each other what happened last year you think that blowing two games having the entire NBA think that the nicks had no chance last year and losing that series to the next you don't think that they have you circled on their calendar

53of course crazy yeah of course they do i mean that's a team that's won a championship that was supposed to have this you know gap year and then jaylen brown plays at an MVP level they i mean they're just a well-run team um and now you get chasing Tatum back just in enough time where he can kind of you know figure out where he's at and how we're going to use him and everything else get comfortable and now be ready for the postseason by the way do you know here matched up within the in the in round one right now the postseason i haven't looked at the standing so Atlanta oh they're not playing good basketball right now are they Atlanta is unbelievable right now pooh so i don't love that either and they're they're long like every guy like six nine with arms that go down to the floor right so again i mean i go back to last night here for a quick second too um and i know it's cat always is the one right i mean now we got but shet now at the meds cat's been one for the you know nicks yep um and that's not just here it's nationally and everything else he was a again eighteen rebounds beast he goes on like a mini seven oh run himself like he goes on a mini seven point run himself then they take him out well what what was that i don't i don't

59i don't know i mean they i think it's fair to say you can't say you don't like mic brown but i think it's fair to say you're you're aware that you might not like mic brown right right like i don't again i know i they obviously thought there was time you know need for change after having their you know maybe player postseason interviews and everything else but i we said this at the time if you're gonna fire tips make sure you have a plan like you didn't know it it was we're gonna fire him and we'll figure it out down the road it okay well right now now we see but now we see it's just i was just like what are we doing you see he just scored seven straight what are we doing here i was i was jarring at the time um i again okay he's just better and i can i can deal with that they were i don't know how closely you listen to the to to reggie miller and tariko last night reggie miller was crushing carl with any towns i was crushing him does it surprise you no it doesn't surprise he's like he's got he's he's got what's the little guy um the good defender uh kuru so kuru so he's like he's

04got kuru he go to him he's i can play go to him you have to go to him he's got to demand the basketball he's i mean if read you watched every single next game he would lose his mind he's way to complacent he has to demand it he has to be an alpha and i i guess in some way it's at it's our fault because he's not that guy he's never been that guy you might never be that guy okay so if he's not gonna do it and you know he's not gonna do it right it's like i say to you all the time if you're a coach that takes over a team and you recognize there's a you know there's a leadership vacuum right in a perfect world you know again i'm the coach i have great leadership it's much it's much more powerful when the team can you know hold each other accountable you have great veteran guys and then i can do you know i can be the coach those guys will lead the whole thing if there's not if that doesn't exist i need to step in i got to be that guy if you know that cast not going to be the one that sister demands the ball because he has a matchup that he likes i mean it cannot my can can mike brown or jaylin not make a point to go to him he had one shot

06in the first half it's unbelievable you know it's amazing so they had heart and shine home grin on the court and they were defending carl and then he towns with caruso i said this to you the other day though right cuz they have because Josh heart is is able to be defended by a five a big like it for these great defensive teams now all of a sudden you got cat and toe cat takes advantage of that matchup they're just going to keep doing the same thing they're doing god was very upsetting and again it's one of those you're right there with them all the way through you're not really sure how you're one point down the fourth quarter and then crunch time it was that would they go nineteen nine a run right but it was a one point game with what four minutes to go yeah you're right there and then it fell off the cliff so here we are again let's get to the calls people want to talk about the nicks you're going to get the best case scenario it appears you're going to get the three you're only one game you'll also had a cleveland so you don't want to follow that four spot eight hundred nine one nine three seven seven six although maybe do

06you do would you rather play taranto and then Detroit in the second round well i mean you everyone keeps telling me that they think bossen is the is the toughest team in the east i think Detroit matches up with you so well though well either way either way your second round matchup will not be overly attractive america leads the world in medicine development it matters we get new medicines first nearly three years faster five million americans go to work because we make medicines here at home and not relying on other countries keeps us safe but china is racing to overtake us will we let them or will we choose to stay ahead when america leads america cures let's tell washington to keep us in the lead learn how at america cures dot com pay for by farma score more with the college branded venmo debit card and earn up to five percent cash back with venmo stash got paid back with the venmo debit card you can instantly access your balance and spend on what you want like game day snacks gear tickets and more the more you do the more cash

16i love it i mean you really that defines you to a tea i don't think the horse is dead yet oh no the the horse the horse has already been made into burgers panties well i mean did listen let it go you would know after we get to the clock last week where you sent the thing into a i mean it was already it was buried and we had a or whatever they call it they call it a funeral is what they call it when someone when something dies and you that was not the word i was looking for to reflect on it typically it's called a funeral no i think we're past the funeral though okay we were saying nice things about it what would that be i think i forget what rj what rj called it rj what's after the funeral they get repast no they get together that would no not the repast they give together you get together after the funeral yeah it's like a meal yeah you have some food you share some good memories kind of person it was yeah that we were reflecting on what the clock used to look like now it was that's i don't know last week today i'm doing an yeoman's work i think what a repast is Raymond

22tell like what are you talking about what's a repast i guess when you you tell funny stories about no it's it's the it's the big gathering and meal that you have after the funeral that's how what it's called yes a repast i think i made the word up i never heard it yeah like you'd get up there and you'd say listen i remember when the clock used to be yes you used to have some kind of integrity right now well it's not integrity the clock was then dead normally you you say like i remember when the clock had life yeah breathed real life into this world and then you merged it r.i.p. to the clock you took it before it's time to eat that baloney right that kind of thing yes that's exactly how it goes well i mean food food and death they go they go synonymously together you're not wrong yeah i don't feel like death and baloney go to i mean i'm only say what he looking for that just goes pastramian rye that just goes to tell you what he thinks of the clock he equates a clock to baloney i haven't had baloney in a very long time baloney's delicious but i've just never been to a repast where you have like baloney said i know what a repast was until 45 seconds ago but he's been to them right what have you call it it's just another

27a memorial the jewish religion we call it a shiva a shiva you said shiva right yeah so you don't have a baloney we we talk about the person and then we have baloney at the show you know baloney listen if you're if you're that a lot of google if you're in morning yeah i don't know what that is there's google news like a noodle pudding say any of that if you walk into a but whatever the religion a a a a time of morning and the and baloney is batting lead off that says to think about what the family thinks about you got a problem if they like they're one step away from putting a vending machine up you know what if i had a bag of chips i'd be thrilled with that no you were not oh absolutely you would find there's no way you go to waste there's no way you go sit shivin there's not a bag of chips no no no no i wouldn't i wouldn't be okay if it was only chips but it's like chips is a starter like well what'd you think of johnny i don't hear some freedom yeah chips is a starter yes it's a starter what why is that a bad thing i don't hear you walk in

29before you even get over to the food here have some chips now i will say there's pickles there's some brands that would at least get a follow-up question i mean come on you walk in and then give you a little tin of pringles no but there's got to be some different you'll take the pringles and you'll be happy because they're like a nice onion dip is against going to be still going to dip the chip in they can't be like here's a bag of Doritos like if you're like oh we're remembering Chris by the way there's some Doritos over there you'd like oh what kind of Doritos that would go through your head you walk in they give you cool wrench Doritos and you're thrilled to be there are you yes to be there yes you like Chris fine Doritos delicious so there's there i'm not i don't want names but there are people in your life you would trade now for cool wrench Doritos no trade for a single chip i wouldn't trade a human being for a chip what about one of the really big bags what about the ones that have a bag yeah what about some of the people have a bag in your people haven't paid you i offer you a family sized bag of cool wrench Doritos i mean i'm not i'm not taking anything for people to perish i'm just saying sometimes there's a benefit like hey i don't know them all that well but the spread at his repast or shiver whatever you want to call it

33was elite hey you should then these said the the locks of this place was delicious you ever ever have to go to something and you don't know anyone you're like oh god yeah i had i had that in the last years terrible i went to i was the i was the person that was like the i don't really say i hate saying the word like the celebrity guess that a bar mitzvah oh or i didn't really know i knew the person that was different you dummy well but it was i didn't know you're celebrating the high moment of a person's life we're talking about death right but you that's not what you said you didn't say did you ever go to a death situation where you didn't you said something we didn't know anybody imagine i'm at the bottom of the stage awake awake or or a shiver or a repat like you go in there and it's just like you don't know anyone death is here you do i take food do i not take food like they you don't know what to do i now have the visual but he made the celebrity guest appearance at a funeral Bob was a great guy and rick dvl's here everybody

39yeah i don't you said anything you didn't say death okay that's on me but can you imagine everyone's like hanging their head they're all sad you may know up from his time it be you he was the number one pick in the entire NHL draft you couldn't see any from Eric doing that he's done a lifetime contract with the islanders rick gets a little extra if he says some nice words about the department if i come if i pop out of the if i pop out of the coffin i get it is number 39 let's give a warm welcome to rick dvl you don't you don't need to go that far you just need to say about 30 seconds of words about the deceased you'll be fine right we can be like a celebrity Paul bear is that a thing they have celebrity Paul bears it could be it could be a new in it you know what you know what get that off we'll throw we'll throw a transition from wedding crashing to funeral crashing it was for highly successful yes in a fictitious movie i guess all right so maybe that's the new thing like Andy from america i'm like they hire me to

40be part of the festivities i don't like funerals i had no who likes funerals days someone who does does anybody like some people that they feel they they they're miserable people and they feel like hey now everyone's miserable we can we can grieve together i'm very uncomfortable of funerals yeah i don't i don't know if that's the i don't know if that's a thing i feel like you have to be like a little bit screwed up to take pleasure in going to funerals but you get what do you want to a nice spread those on a lot of them what do you want to do on Friday there's a great funeral down there i think we should check that out i think that'd be awkward yeah do you ever go to when they have sushi though post game that's not called post game post game all right everybody great effort today pack it on i told you i had the one i had the one real awkward situation with my grandmother's funeral because i started laughing and everyone thought i was crying but i was laughing so hard but i was crying because al started it was doing the excuse me well no and then he dropped like he before he went into his pocket and dropped

41stuff on the way up to to do his speech i was like i was happy with his speech good at least no he forgot it that's why i went oh excuse me i just started dying laughing and people thought you were you were sobbing i dave i was did real tears i was crying so i was laughing so hard maybe just because everyone else at the funeral just like oh rick is really passing me i was getting past Kleenex look at all upset he is they should have given you some freedoms you know i had to give you a baloney you feel differently oh that's why we had such a good turn out for the police sandwiches yeah thanks for listening to that dp atro and rathan brew podcast i'm just trying to have the best possible show that's what i'm trying to do what does that start listen live weekday mornings from six to ten a.m. on a-a-b-e-s-p-n in new york the espn new york app and on youtube by subscribing to the espn new york youtube channel
