Trump doing something of an early victory tour with regard to Iran. And also the economy, a whole range of things that he is, well, he's saying are going great. Going great. And he already talked, we talked about the Iran war with him in the last hour. We will get to that. But he's also pointing out that the Democrats want to raise their taxes. The Democrats don't understand how to, well, how to really fix any problem.

3:11In fact, they make problems worse. One thing I wanted to put out there, Clay, we've talked about a Washington DC on track for, it's murder rate is down 50 percent year over year, and car jackings are down 40 percent. And car jackings were a big problem there. So that's just one place, you know, you and I will be visiting the Capitol sometime this spring. And it's a different city now. And people who are there are telling me, people, I have friends, many friends who live there. And they say that it's just great. And you're noticing that these other news networks, they don't really give you the news. These are stories that people should know. These are positive stories. They are newsworthy stories, but they don't like to talk about it because unfortunately the news is a political narrative to so many. It's not actually about what is worthwhile information for the public to be told data,

4:12facts and knowledge to be shared with the American people, it is generally to just confirm the political prejudices of people and tell them what they already thought they wanted to know. But here, I'll get, I was just going to say, I'll give you an example of that book. I was in DC Wednesday night, finished dinner, walked back to my hotel. It's probably 10 30, not like super late or anything. Streets, it felt insanely safe. And the way that I judge, how does it feel safe? I probably walked a mile and a half. So it wasn't a small walk, tons of single women out. And they didn't seem remotely concerned about 10 30 11 PM walking on the street solo. That's a pretty good test, right? If you're in a city and you're a single woman, how comfortable do you feel outwalking by yourself after well after dark 10 30 or 11? We both subscribe to the, the, the chicks jogging alone at night.

5:13Yep. Listen to the ultimate test of any neighborhood. Do women, do women feel comfortable in that neighborhood jogging alone at night? If the answer is yes, you're in a safe neighborhood. If the answer is no, you got problems. And that is, I bet you're seeing a lot more joggers on the mall. I bet you're seeing more joggers up in Rock Creek Park, you know, you and I both know DC well from our years there. So this is a great thing. So I just want to point out that while we're talking Iran and how it does look like Trump has checkmated the mullahs, we'll see, but he's very close. There's a lot of other things going on that are really good. Meanwhile, Democrats just make things worse. Here he is in Vegas. Here's Trump in Vegas. This is cut three. He's just saying, keep in mind, we just had tax day. Democrats just want to raise your taxes as if we're not spending them, spending too much money already. We can never forget that every single radical left Democrat in Congress voted to die the American people these life-saving changes. They voted for tax increases.

6:15They wanted your taxes to go up. I've never seen it before. You know, all my life, I've been sort of always interested in politics. Never did it before. I decided to do it a little while ago, not too long. But I've never seen it before. I've always was, I'd watch politicians for 30 years, 40 years. We will lower your taxes. We will lower your taxes. These are the only people the Democrats now, the modern day Democrats. We will raise your taxes. And I just don't think it's wonderful. I don't know. Maybe I'm a little old-fashioned, I guess. It is true, Clay. The Democrat Party has moved away from being the party of the working class, the party of small, you know, and never really was a small business owners party. But they've moved away from people who were Democrats in those categories, for sure. And they are now the party of coastal, wealthy elites. And those who are dependent on government largesse in one capacity or another. So a lot of people at the top, a lot of people at the very bottom economically. And then the middle class, which they talk about a lot, is the one getting squeezed all

7:19the time. What I said on a tax day is a stat that when I saw it, you actually look at it, we'll blow your mind, roughly half of all Americans pay no federal income tax. Oh, that's been true for a long time. Yeah. But I think a lot of people still don't know it because Democrats are always talking about we got to tax the rich. And the rich make the 1% right top 1% makes about 26% of the income. And they pay 46% of the taxes. And the question that never gets asked because obviously we have a lot of legacy media that never follows up. What is a fair share, right? If 1% of the United States population is paying nearly half of the taxes, what would be a fair share to Elizabeth Warren? Should they pay 90% what what tax rate should the wealthiest have to bear? And the important thing here also, and I think this is so important is we don't have a revenue

8:21problem. We have a spending problem. The federal government brings in $5 trillion in taxes and spends around seven. And the overall spending is out of control. At some point, if you just take a step back and think about this from the perspective of your own families, if you and your wife, and let's say you got a family, let's say you're a family of four, if you were making hundreds of thousands of dollars a year and you spend a million. At some point in time, I think you would have to recognize that the revenue coming into your home is not the issue. It's the spending that is the issue. And everybody understands the basic, you know, marketplace economics of that. And yet the Elizabeth Warrens of the world, you go look at her Twitter feed. It's all just we should have more. And even that clip that went viral of mom Donnie standing outside of the private homes

9:21of of New York citizens demanding that they pay way more. Um, I mean, I think it's just going to lead to further exodus of wealthy people from New York City, L.A. Chicago. Did you see the stats on this book? Because I think this ties in with it. New York, we know people in New York City are frustrated. What about L.A. Did you see that we've got record low, uh, satisfaction in L.A. As you and I have talked about, one of maybe the most beautiful areas in the entire country, the world, even Karen Bass has a 25% approval rating. Can we play this cut guys? This is, uh, uh, talking about why are people in L.A. So profoundly unsatisfied with their community? Listen, 1400 L.A. County residents were surveyed earlier this year. The high cost of living is the main driver of the lowest score of the quality of life index has ever received besides cost of living participants were asked about public safety. Health care, your neighborhood transportation and traffic, education, the environment, jobs

10:23in the economy and race relations. Now the survey found 31% are worried about a family member or someone close to them being deported from the U.S. because of their immigration status. Those surveyed were also asked about the L.A. Mayor's race with incumbent Karen Bass only receiving 25% of support with 40% undecided. 26% of residents reported wildfire related income loss and 56% were dissatisfied with wild fire recovery efforts. I think this is such a good example, Buck, because when L.A. burned, most people out there, if you said, hey, what is the number one job of government? What should government do? Most people would say provide safety, right? I think that's probably number one and maybe number one in the safety bucket would be, if your house is on fire, there should be a fire department that can put it out. I don't think there's very many of you out there that would say, hey, you know what? I think the firemen aren't doing enough. I'm a really anti-firemen.

11:25I don't even know that there would be an anti-firemen community. And yet L.A. has become so dysfunctional that when the city was burning, which was a very foreseeable event, they didn't have the resources buck to put out the fire. It gets worse. Now it's been over a year later. They don't have the resources and the permitting processes in place to allow people to rebuild the home that the city allowed to burn down. And it's so, at least that just becomes infuriating. Let's hear from the phenomenal mayor of Los Angeles, Karen Bass, which is cut 17. Oh, sorry. I thought you were calling for it. My bet. Yes. Karen Bass. She doesn't know what to do. Karen Bass is not a good mayor. But this is not a prime approval. This is not a prime percent. Now, let's understand this. They are doing permits now, but because of the tax structure and the environmental situation of Los Angeles and California more broadly, people are not going to be able to rebuild

12:29for a long time, even if they get the permit. And they're going to have to pay taxes at the newly assessed rate. And they're now trying to get multifamily homes built so they can do denser urban planning stuff in these previously very beautiful single-family home neighborhoods. So it's a disaster. The whole thing is a mess. But people are seeing this, I think, more clearly than they have in a long time, which is why the satisfaction numbers have gone down so precipitously. But yet, I sit here and say, you just did your whole thing about combo lesser. I think Gavin Newsom's still going to be the nominee, folks. We got to mark this down too. I think Gavin Newsom's going to fight his way to the top of the pack clay. I don't think that they're going to run a woman for a third loss from a woman. I think that's a huge problem for it. And I know that maybe that sounds not sexist, just reality. They've run women a couple of times and they have gotten beaten soundly.

13:31And they ran the oldest, most befuddled white dude they could possibly find and he somehow became president. I know some of you don't like it when I say one, but he became president. That is a fact. So I think they have to take all of that into account. But California's governor's race is also just indicative of the, really, the sort of depraved state of Democrat governance that this is the guy that they were going to elect is now gone because he's been accused of being really a sexual abuser and even rapist. A serial rapist. Yes. That's the best that California, the largest state by population and the fifth largest economy in the world can do. That's the best. How is that possible? And they couldn't figure this out before. This isn't like stuff that was that hard. It just goes to show you also, there's no op-o media on these people.

14:33There's no opposition media on Democrats by the, the old legacy outlets, the corporate media that were supposed to trust, which no one trusts anymore and they shouldn't. I did, Buck. It's interesting. You know, we talked about the swallwell timing. I did see what I thought was interesting. There's a report out there that they were prepared to blow him up in the presidential race and then he dropped out and they just didn't think he was consequential enough for the media to do a deep dive on him until he decided to stick his head back up and run for, run for governor. Now this raises all sorts of interesting questions because basically what you're saying is it's okay for him to engage in this behavior if he just is a congressman, right? He's won a 435. He's not a big enough name. We're not going to really go after him. It reminds me of the Kavanaugh thing because people, you and I talked about this off here. Kavanaugh was on the DC circuit, if I remember correctly. He was one of the most powerful judges, probably one of the 20 most powerful judges in the country

15:37roughly when he was on the DC circuit. But as soon as he got nominated for the Supreme Court, moving from top 20 to top nine, it was, hey, we got to have an all points bulletin out. He'll make up as many stories about him as possible. And so it does feel like swallwell, they're like, okay, bud, you can be, you know, your California attack dog is one of 435 congressmen, but that his decision to run for governor and have success because to your point, Buck, he was going to be the guy was what ultimately required that the party mobilize and take him out. It is interesting what levels of because most people would say, hey, congressman's kind of a significant kind of a significant overall role, but they just didn't care until he decided that he wanted to be governor and then everything fell apart. But yeah, back in COVID days, they made everybody stay on quarantine them in those tiny little rooms. I mean, that's basically a floating prison, except, I guess, maybe occasionally you get

Welcome back in here to Clay and box. So Clay mentioned this, we wanted to dive into it with you. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas gave a lecture at UT Austin earlier this week. And he was talking about the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and his

24:52personal encounters with American founding principles. Clay, no surprise. There were protesters. No testers, of course. Supreme Court Justice comes to a state school and you have to have idiots who don't want him there instead of listening and perhaps learning something. They would rather squawk and bleed and, you know, bang cowbells and do all the other idiotic things that these leftists love to do. But we wanted to bring you some of the highlights of this. For one, Clarence Thomas, Supreme Court Justice, is not shy. This is cut 14, not shy about progressivism, calling out progressivism as a threat, play it. At the beginning of the 20th century, a new set of first principles of government was introduced into the American mainstream. The proponents of this new set, first principles, most prominent among them, the 28th president

25:54of our country, Woodrow Wilson, called it progressivism. The century of progressivism did not go well. The European system that Wilson and the progressive scolded Americans were not adopting, which he called nearly perfect, led to the governments that caused the most awful century that the world has ever seen, Stalin, Hitler, Mussolini, and Mao. We're intertwined with the rise of progressivism and all we're posed to the natural rights on which our decoration are based. Clay? He knows. He pays attention. Yeah. Look, and we've been talking some about the idea of Justice Alito stepping down. In fact, he's favored to Clarence Thomas is only a couple of years away now from becoming. I believe I'm correct on this team, look this up, Molly Hemingway, by the way, coming

26:54on the show next Tuesday, she's written a book about Alito to discuss that book with us and we'll get her take on which whether she thinks Alito might step down. But Clarence Thomas Buck, if I'm not mistaken, is only about a year and a half away from becoming the longest serving Supreme Court justice, I believe, of all time. So there's the expectation that he will not step down because he wants to get that, get that title good for him team confirmed that that's correct. We got a couple of more for from him. And I think this is important. He was talking at the University of Texas at Austin, the main UT campus down in the state of Texas, Buck, and he also directly addressed intolerance about younger generations. And this is something that my wife and I have been focused on because it's one of the reasons we made a donation to Vanderbilt University to their law school, listen to Cut 15. I think they do seriously. I think that that young person should ask yourself while you're in college, how do you

27:57all deal with differences? Because I joined the court to dealt with differences as friends, as we respected each other. And I don't know how that's civility. I don't know how you bring it back in the current environment with social media and name calling and all and people accusing each other various things and animals. I don't know how you do that. And I fear that that's going to infect the institution such as the court and judges, etc. in the future because these are the young people who will be in these jobs. One of the things I'm most concerned about in law schools, Buck, and I do think it's really significant. It didn't exist when I was in law school is the idea that the cases that you take on as an advocate in some way are your own personal reflections of the world. Now sometimes that can be the case, right? If you happen to work, say at a first amendment center, you would be taking on cases typically that would be expansive in the first amendment.

28:59But if you are engaged in many practices of law, it is the fact that you will sometimes represent people you don't like, you don't agree with, but that have a right to be zealously defended under the constitution. And so I think arguably this is maybe the most important thing that lawyers have an obligation to do is zealously advocate to the best of our ability. Sometimes oftentimes they even for individuals and for situations and cases that we would not personally advocate for if we were not in the job of being an advocate. You know, you're a lawyer. You're an advocate for someone else. You aren't typically espousing your own views. And I think a lot of young lawyers have lost that and they somehow believe, oh, if I represent this case or this person, that's a reflection of my personal beliefs. I think that's one of the big major institutional flaws that is now taken root across all of the legal profession. That's worth noting that President Trump came up against this where there was a really

30:00concerted effort through the upper ranks of the legal profession. Oh, yeah. And I think that's one of the biggest things that I've ever seen in my career side to prevent any good attorneys from name brand firms, from doing any work involving Trump or even the administration or anything at all that tried to make MAGA untouchable for the purposes of big law. And that just goes to show you how quickly they're willing to abandon principle on these misunderstandings of what our system is supposed to be all about, can be dispensed with so quickly by those who have the Democrat persuasion in their ideology. But this is also a big story that's not getting a ton of attention. California is stripping away the law license of one of pretzels, your point on President Trump's legal advisors for legal advice to a client that they do not like.

31:02This is crazy. I mean, that we would allow a bar association to go to the point of lawyers give all sorts of advice to clients. And unless the legal advice is, hey, here's how you dispose of a dead body, right? I mean, there are certainly legal standards that are applied. You can't be involved in helping a crime to be committed that is a direct crime. But all of the advice that the president of the United States gets and got about electors about the entire process surrounding how power is transferred. I thought was very within the bounds constitutionally of acceptable advice. They're taking away this guy. Eastman, I believe it's Eastman guys can look me, correct me if I'm wrong, taking away his law license in California. And I talked about this the other day, Buck. It's one reason I'm glad that I'm licensed in the state of Tennessee because we have basic common sense in the state of Tennessee. I think that people would have come after my law license, 100% if I were licensed in

32:03Washington, DC or if I were licensed in California or New York, I mean, remember our good buddy Swalwell wanted me criminally prosecuted for saying I don't believe that Trump should be convicted. I mean, he tweeted that. And I got a bar examination into my record for and I say, you know, I'm a lawyer, but I'm also a prognosticator. I have to be able to say exactly what I think. By the way, Clarence Thomas would become the all time longest serving Supreme Court justice sometime in 2028 if he continues on the bench. And I think that goal matters to him quite a lot, Buck, because we're playing these cuts for Clarence Thomas. I don't think he's ever really recovered from the nastiness of his of his confirmation hearings. And I think he sees as the ultimate vindication becoming the longest serving justice as a way to spite his critics. And I think that matters to him significantly. So I don't think he's going to step down. That comes with risk because I believe he's 78 years old, but I do think Alito is going

33:05to step down. And I think we're going to have a Supreme Court opening this summer, which will turn into a huge story. It'll be a big story. I'm not sure the fight. One thing would be interesting is if they're going to go with a woman again, just because remember, they couldn't Kavanaugh Amy Coney Barrett. Yeah. That was for sure. Maybe they would try this time around and say that there was some lady that worked for her or something that she touched. But the reality is the Democrat playbook on that stuff was not as effective for obvious reasons the second time around after they tried it on Kavanaugh. So I think you're likely to get a very good judge from Trump if Alito steps down. And I feel like Alito is a team player.
