Ike, Spike and Fritz — Hour 2: Tuesdays with ESP. Machine-transcribed; use the interactive transcript above to jump the player to any line.
00Girl, it's a WIP afternoon show with Ike Spike and Fritz. Stress tested our number. Now we're gonna stress test Elliott. Tuesdays with Elliott, Elliott Shore Parks at the Goldbergs podcast. Hey, Elliott. What up, how you guys doing? How you doing, Sassy E? Good, I'm excited, you know, an art time working together. I haven't really been able to drop flyers takes. So now that they're gonna be in the post season, I'm very excited. And an entire new fan base to infuriate. Yeah, my first one is they got to play more than like 18 minutes a game. Who? Oh, the players? Yeah, not dude. What are we gonna play hockey? The best players are there for a third of the game. Yes. Porta Martone's 19, put them out there. Nah, I'm luck. You're out there playing hockey after two minutes are exhausted. Well, I've made it clear I could not score a goal in hockey. I know, I know. I do think it is the hottest one. But I'm saying, yes. Score a touchdown on touch push. Yes, yeah, luck into a home run. Score, well definitely score a basket and basketball. Yes, but play a score goal. Yeah. Yes. So Elliott has not heard the conspiracy theory yet because he was in a meeting at Rob Lincoln's
01start making Academy. And that was the meeting you were in. Yeah, intentionally told him, do not tell him. I want to hear it on her. So here is the conspiracy theory. As I do enjoy conspiracy theories, is that all of these leaks, we've heard the story it's to motivate Jalen. I don't believe it's to motivate Jalen. I believe these stories are for one person and that is Jeffrey Laurie. And Jeffrey Laurie loves Jalen hurts, right? So convincing Jeffrey Laurie to move off of Jalen is going to take more than the offense not working all these sorts of things. What I believe is that how he looks at the two times he has built Super Bowl champions. Carson Wentz was on a rookie contract. Jalen hurts, it was on a rookie contract. I also think he looks around the league and sees that the team he's going to have to trade AJ Brown to is New England Patriots just in the Super Bowl quarterback on a rookie contract. Denver Broncos, AFC Championship game, quarterback on a rookie contract. Seahawks, bargain contract. Like not a super expensive one. And then you even look at the elite guys. It's been more difficult since Patrick Mahomes started getting paid big money. It's more difficult for Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen.
04And then even more, let's put those guys to the side for a second, the next group. That Jordan Love, Dak Prescott, Jalen hurts, assuming we think those teams are at a disadvantage. And I think when how he is cooking, how he is building a whole team. And I think how he is setting this up for, look, even if Jalen hurts, plays pretty good, that's even better for him because it makes the trade easier. I think he is setting up to move on after next year, unless they win the Super Bowl or anything. And I think all of this is a setup. I think how he wants to build with a quarterback on a more manageable contract than Jalen hurts. I don't think he wants to pay him again. Yeah, I think that's smart. I think that's a good conspiracy theory. I think if you look, yeah. I think if you look at the three main deciding voices in that building, Larry, Howie and Nick. I think they're at opposite ends of spectrum in some way. Like, I think Larry is definitely a big Jalen guy, for sure. Really likes Jalen for all the obvious reasons, right? He won him a Super Bowl, all those things. I think Nick has become a Jalen guy. I don't think, you know, he is like,
05he's my ideal quarterback, but I think Nick likes, he can win with him. And I think he does like his intangibles. I don't think Howie is a big Jalen guy. You look at the players, Howie likes. He likes star-studded guys at a, you know, like top 10 picks, five star recruits, all those things. I don't think Howie wants a quarterback that was drafted in the back end of the second round. I think Howie would prefer a quarterback that's six, five, rocket arm, elite physical traits. And I don't think that's Jalen. Now, it doesn't mean Jalen's not an elite quarterback, but I think Howie has like a talent evaluator that puts so much into like the analytics and the measurables and all that. Like, that's not the boxes at Jalen check. So I tend to agree with you, like, if they're not gonna pay him this off season, I don't know why you would pay him a year from now at way more money if you don't believe in him now. So whatever we would do, I agree. I'm sure Howie is very much into the idea of having the quarterback in 2027 be much cheaper than Jalen is. So a rookie. Well, so I don't know. I'm not locking myself into that. I think you could do a thing
05where there is Mr. Wright and Mr. Wright now. And I think if they move on for Jalen, even if there's not a rookie that they're able to get that they covet, I think that they could get a, somebody that they find good enough until they find the next guy. So, you know, I keep bringing it. It could be a rookie though. Yes, it could be a rookie. You build the defense up and you have an elite running game. That is a good situation to put a rookie into. An elite running game. Yeah, where's that coming from? Well, I'm saying you'd have to have, I said elite defense in a, in a row. Well, we're okay. Where's the elite running game coming from? Well, yeah, you have to have the offensive line be back at the, a better path. Running back or as well, right? Yeah, well, unless we still believe Saikwan is an elite running back one. Well, this could be Saikwan's last year with the Eagles too. So, I get, what I'm saying is putting a rookie on a team that can run the ball and has great defense is a good setup to put him into. Yeah, when everybody's healthy, everybody's in their prime and everybody's playing at a high level. So there's less pressure on the quarterback. You have to do much. When those guys are either passed their prime over the hill,
07then somebody has to be able to pick up the slack. I agree. If they have a bad defense or not a great running game or the defense isn't good, it'll be tough for the rookie. It's because, forget about the defense. Because it's a luxury, right? That's 10 to 10. I can't say. I'm just saying. So now we go, we're going to go win by defense now, right? We're not winning with the offense. So it wouldn't be my perfect. So, so, so we're, we're, because we're looking at not paying the quarterback. But the wide receivers will pay $25, $30 million a year. We'll pay offensive line and $20 million at each position and a running bag, $20 million. But we don't want to pay the quarterback. I don't think how we views Jalen at the talent level of AJ, Devonte, Milada, Lane, and those guys. So I think he's happy to pay sake one and AJ and all them big. Do you agree with him? No, I would pay Jalen, because I think, I think, I think what Jalen does in this city is taken for granted. But what I'm saying is how he specifically, I can't imagine he'd be thrilled about paying Jalen $60, $65 million a year. Well, he may not have to pay that much money.
08Well, I was making 50 now and that's the gamble the Eagles are taking. If they don't want to pay him now, and he actually does do well in this offense and they win two playoff games. What do you want to pay him, don't you? But $65 million. Why wouldn't he? Because I was thinking it depends on how they win. You guys always tell me, No, no, we're talking about what how we think. So do you think how we think Jalen's the main reason they won the Super Bowl in 24? No, okay, so that's what I'm saying. Like I wasn't, but that's, but that's beside the point. That's beside the point. That's one year. Right. We're talking about building the team moving forward with the essential piece being solidified. That's what we're talking about. Forget about how you won the Super Bowl in the past. We're talking about how do you build a Super Bowl team moving forward in all the parts matter. You got a 26 year old quarterback, 27 year old quarterback. You're telling me you're ready, or he is smart for him to want to move off of that guy and put an unknown guy in there with the rest of the team that's around there because he doesn't want to pay Jalen a few million dollars, a few more million dollars
10to solidify that. You got a team that's a play all team every year. You know what you're getting with this quarterback and everything else. He would much rather go find an unknown. That makes no sense. And here's the one thing I know about how he roseman. He likes for sure things. Now sometimes they get fortunate and look into some things. That just so happens. But how he's biggest moves aren't necessarily drapics. They've been free agent signings that he's went out and got that word for sure things. Already proving commodities. I did it. He's plucked the quarterback. They got fortunate with this one. Now you're telling me that they're going to go out and find another one. Yes. I think, look, we can have our opinions of this. Is there anything coming out of that building that makes you think they believe Jalen is an elite special talent? You say how he likes for things just quickly. How we also like big swings. How he likes big swing. I don't think. Well, who's the elite special talent? If you're giving me a better option than I'm all ears. I'm all ears. You're telling me somebody out of a quarterback class is weak in a quarterback class and we don't know what.
11A versus some other journeyman quarterback that's been on multiple other teams. That's going to come here and all of a sudden. That's the guy that this fan base is going to be okay with you moving on from this guy with to bring in somebody else who hasn't accomplished with this guy's accomplished. So I don't think the fan base will be okay with it. I wouldn't do it. But we're talking about what how he would do. In the 2027 draft class, I went to Temple. So I'm not a big college football guy, but it is viewed as one of the best quarterback classes in a long time. You're telling me how he would rather pay a quarterback. 2027? 2027. Yeah. Is viewed as a special quarterback class. Well, we know one quarterback, Archmani, who've been telling me he's been special since he was in the ninth grade. Right. He looks like every other running a milk pocket quarterback. Ain't saying nothing special yet. Let me just put that out there right there with Archmani. What's the other quarterback? The quarterback from Oregon who was supposed to be the number two pick this year, but went back because he wouldn't have been the number two pick. That guy. Yeah. So where are these other quarterbacks at that are supposed to be so special? I mean, to be fair, he drafted up from number like 19 to two
12to draft a quarterback at a North Dakota state, right? So it is about what they think of the prospect, right? And they would have to like the prospect, but you say it's only a few million dollars. Yeah. It's not more than, it's not only a few million dollars. It's like 55, 60 million dollars. And in court, this game of thing is a few million dollars. No, because a rookie quarterback will cost them 12 million dollars a year. I have to look and see what the top tips are. It's more net. It's 20 something million dollars. Not as a, not as a rookie. No, not as a rookie. I don't think any rookie. Well, first of all, they're conscious. Unless a guarantee. Right. But I'm saying you are guaranteeing Jalen probably another hundred and fifty million dollars. I guarantee it's more than 12 million dollars. But the cap difference would be astronomical. Okay. It would be a big one, right? And again, this is not about what I would do, but I've just never personally gotten the sense how we've used Jalen as an elite talent. I think they like what Jalen could do and you're right. I think they like that Jalen is dependable and he can handle the market and everything. But I also think if they have a chance to acquire a special quarterback in the draft, they would jump at it. How bad you'd have to be to get that? I mean, there are twenty three now, they, where, where they go from Carson, where they start at nineteen. Just, just so we know the number one pick will get a contract at about ten million dollars
14a year to start. So that's a little higher than I thought, but, but it still is a big difference between sixty five, yes, fifty five million or whatever, right? I just think that if you look at the players, how he pays, if you, even the Jalen thing, put him in a bit of a tough spot. He had to pay Jalen right off of twenty twenty two, Jalen in twenty twenty one, right? He, he was here twenty twenty twenty twenty one to twenty twenty two and he had his breakout year in his contract. Yeah. Right. So I think they paid Jalen at an unadventaged time for the franchise. And I think that if, especially with everything coming out of the building, they would be interested in finding a quarterback that how we probably views as more of an elite raw talent in Jalen. Yeah. What I'm saying is, first of all, I've never said Jalen wasn't an elite talent. I, that's flawed for people who think that I've never said that I think he's an elite quarterback. I don't know how him being an elite talent. What I'm saying is there are elite talented quarterbacks out there that are making that money who haven't accomplished what he's accomplished. I agree with you. So I, so I, so my, my, my thing is, is this just about saving money or do you want to have
16the best players on your team? I think it's about from how he's perspective. It would be paying a player more than how he thinks he is worth. If you're paying Jalen sixty fifty five million a year, whatever it is, that's what I think it would be about. Can we get a rookie on a rookie deal that we think has a higher upside than Jalen on a much cheaper deal or are we recommitting ourselves to three more years of Jalen? And that's where I think how we might, might bulk at it. Now to your point, Spike, I think Jeffrey would be into it because Jalen has won him a Super Bowl. Jalen does win him games. Jalen does represent the franchise in a way better than maybe any quarterback will for the Eagles. But how he, I think doesn't view Jalen as an elite talent. Yeah. You keep saying that. I don't know who does join me as an elite talent. I don't think anybody does. Who said he's an elite talent? Well, because we're talking about going up and getting a quarterback that he was in order back so I can, I can go down the list of guys that get paid that all the elite talent. It would be a risk. But I'm saying the Eagles in this situation would have to evaluate a quarterback in the draft. They view as having higher upside than Jalen.
16That's where they would go get a quarterback. Yeah. I just think it would be a mistake. It might be. And I tend to be on your side. And I don't, I don't think that they would put their, how is also big on his reputation and what's attached to his name and you're moving on from somebody that's a known commodity that if he plays well, this, it's seemingly for financial reasons. But imagine financial reasons. Now he doesn't play what that's one thing. But you're telling me this sounds like you're saying money is the motivating factor here that I want to pay him cheaper. No team says that in favor of a running back, a deficit and a quarterback or any other position on the team. No team says that about their quarterback position, but they, they, they do say it about running backs. Well, that's not the quarterback. I know, but, but I think there was a point at which the quarterback position, at least in the game at this moment, has become the quarterback salaries are overvalued compared to always been overvalued. I know, but it is.
17It always been overvalued. But all those players that you name that are, that you named that you said are getting paid that aren't elite level talents. Those teams are not winning. Those teams are not winning. They're not saying people say they are elite level talent and they still aren't winning. Well, but my point would be where I'm winning Superbowls. Yes, but I just think everything that comes out of that building does not paint the picture of people in that building viewing jail and as a special quarterback, right? We can all of our opinions. Sure. It seems pretty clear. But how and without him being special, I think he was special on the green 24 like I don't want a rookie contract. No, no, he wasn't. No, he wasn't 24. He was on his big deal. 22. They got there on a rookie contract. Well, but 24. I don't even think the money had started yet. We can look to see because he was, he was still on his, he's a free age of four year guy. Cause spikes point, his cap hit was probably small in 24 because the way they structure the deal. But he, but he was on his. Yes, that's all. That seems already past four years, but the big contract had, in my, just the way that
17I'm painting this, his big contract had not made team building prohibitive the same way it is now. Right. That is the point. That's the spikes original point though. I do think the barrier or the block between them moving on from jail and the not is Jeffrey. I don't think Jalen salary is prohibiting them from doing anything financially. I would agree with you. I don't think his salary is doing it to prohibit him doing anything. His cap hit is low, but it's more about, do they want to give him another 110 million guaranteed money? That is what it comes. Right. Okay. And that's fine. And I'm saying if he goes out and owns it, look, if he, if he plays elite this year and he looks like a different player and he's, then yes, then maybe that's what we're talking about. But, but, but I'm saying like if he is mostly the same guy, I don't think they will want to give him that type of money. I would agree with that. I would agree with you. And then even if he's elite though, right, you're still talking about giving a player a ton of money where they might be able to look and say, it's a risk to your point, but we can get someone younger and cheaper. And apparently someone they, like they maybe might not have the issues with that they seem to a jail and where you are saving a ton of money and you're moving forward.
19And tear thing about how he's reputation, I agree with you. But I would also say how we might love the idea of being the GM, the first GM that's smart enough to move off a massive contract for a rookie and to keep it moving in terms of keep winning. Like that could also be something how he might like. It's a dangerous game. We're playing. It's a risk. I agree. It's a dangerous game. I just care about winning football games, man, all this who's the smartest in the room, man. Now we're, we're, we're projecting he's going to be this and this is the conspiracy theory. I'm planning for another guy. I'm ready. I'm planning. I'm setting up so this guy can fail. I can move on from him. Like what are we doing here? That's what we're doing as a football team. So I agree. But what are we talking about here? I think we have to consider too though is like I think that Jeffrey is a great owner, right? It's on board with this, allowing this. Look what they tell they balls. They're balls who thinks they should go out and win a championship this year. That we're planning to lose so we can get rid of this guy. No, no, no. Again, that is what I think these leaks are doing are trying to show Jeffrey that there
23is a different side of Jalen. So when the team only said, I don't think how I think I'll get a Jefferleur enough credit to know. Well, I'm going to say I didn't think on the pulse and knowing what's going on in that building. Yeah. I know exactly what's going on. He's probably closer to Jalen than a lot of them are. Meaning that they've had more dinners and intimate meetings and things that nature probably than Jalen has had with anybody else in that building. Yeah. I think Jeffrey is very informed of what's going on. But to your point, Spike, I do think that the issues raised in those articles are probably not issues Jeffrey cares about as much as how he and Nick do because it's like day-to-day problems. And I think it highlights them on a broad scale. Yes. Well, we'll see. What happens? Elliot. Well, I was going to move on to the next thing. Well, the one thing I would say to sense, you know, we're in draft mode to an extent, it's like two weeks. An interesting part about them drafting a quarterback early. If they do it, and I don't think they'll do it in the first round, but let's say they do it in the second round. Yeah. When you say early, do you mean first or second or do you mean first, second, third?
24I do not think they will take a quarterback in the first round. So you're talking about top two rounds, not top three. Top two, yeah. Yeah. I don't think the third round is a bit of a grayer, but I don't think someone you have to, if they draft quarterback in the second round, my guess is he starts this year. I don't think they would, at some point, you mean, yeah, I don't think they would sit because the thing that happened with Jalen, which was unfortunate for a degree to the franchises, he had two years of developing on a rookie deal and they got one year of him being an elite quarterback on his rookie deal. I think if they draft someone, and I'll use Tyson Simpson because he seems like the guy that might be at, like they'll want to get him on the field. I think if they draft him in the second, like get him to develop, they draft him in the second round. They've already shown that the right is on the wall. Exactly. Yeah. When you draft the quarterback in the second round, yeah. If you take the quarterback in the second round, he becomes the most important person in the building from a player perspective. He does. Can you imagine? Because that's your future franchise quarterback. What do you think the chances are that they would do that? I mean, I wouldn't do it. I'm not asking you. I know, I know, but I'm saying, I think we'd be, we would be ignorant to say it's zero.
26Zero right. I mean, yeah. Yeah. Look at everything coming out of there. Twenty percent. The tough thing is is who is it, right? Because there's Ty Simpson, who looks to go like end of first, beginning of second. Maybe he makes it to 53 or 54 and these are all just smoke screens. He'll get drafted. High. The guy I think that they would be in on. There we go. Drew Aller out of Penn State. He's six five. He was a high recruit. He was a number one quarterback in his draft class. He has a strong arm. He's mobile. Like, that's the guy I could picture them falling in love with. I agree. I'm just saying. I don't think they take him a leg in the third round. I mean, we all see Drew Aller. I don't see anything special. He's just Hackenberg. I haven't done my, I haven't done my YouTube. Jack, have you, in all seriousness, have you watched him? I've watched him enough. I'm surprised he doesn't, he reminded me of Josh Allen. I'm surprised you weren't there. If you squint, you got to really squint. Well, I mean, he's, he's six five with a rocket and he can move.
27I don't know. He's when you salivate over, but if you watch him, he's a total loser. You got to get Garrett Nutsmire. No, I'm out on Nutsmire. Yeah, dude. You can't make it go. You can't make it. Oh, man. That's Mac Jones. I can't, I can't wait. I can't wait to start doing it. You got to watch Garrett Nutsmire. I'm going to start this weekend. There's no shot going to be Garrett Nutsmire. Probably not. Why? It's a tough name. It is tough name. It is. It's new smart. And they got Tyler's show or whatever the hell's name is. Whatever. New Orleans. They're not going to draft him. No. He's bringing him here. There you go. They can't, they can't take a quarterback. They can't run. 888-729- Why not? 94. It's the most important skill. All right. Well, no, it's not physically. No, it's not. It is. You saw that last year with Jalen. He stopped running in the whole offense. I was just saying. Hold on. Hold on. He doesn't suck it. I don't know who the, who the second, I think the top three offenses in the, NFL last year in terms of points per game were the Rams, the Bills, and the, uh, and the Seahawks.
27Two out of those Jalen runs. Two out of the other two. Okay. Yeah. All right. Matthew Stafford, I think, is an exception to the world. He is like a 15 year veteran that can pick them apart. Okay. Okay. Sam Darnell. Yeah. I knew it was a fluke. Okay. All right. 888-729. He's like a 15 year veteran that can pick them apart. Okay. Sam Darnell. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. All right. All right. Coming up next, an issue. Well, do we do draft next and why receivers? Do we do all of it? AJ Take? Do we do this. Oh, God. This bigger NFL issue. Let's do the receiver stuff. The receiver stuff. All right. That'll be next. Also, I do want to talk about the Aikman thing that you hit on in, uh, Goberts Daily, but goes to a, uh, larger take that I've had for about a year now. So we'll do all that next with Elliott, 888-72994. This is the WIP Afternoon Show at Ike Spike and Fritz and Elliott. Looking for a great deal to stay connected. I think at a concert, this would go crazy. Really? Yeah, I think people would be going, just me and real. Wait, where the little beat drop there, where he's being quiet? You be going in. It's the WIP Afternoon Show at Ike Spike and Fritz. That is 330 country. Elliott is here with us. It's Tuesday.
33Tuesday is with Elliott. I'm Toby Keith, may I rest in peace? He was a famous guy. Yeah, he's big. Yeah, he's a big deal. So Elliott, we, you know, the AJ situation, we'll get into the draft stuff. Well, this is actually good in to the draft stuff. So you tweeted earlier, one thing to consider with the NFL draft in the AJ Brown situation. Eagles lose basically all trade leverage. The second they take a wide receiver on the first round. If they take Boston or Tyson at 23 or move up for Tate, that signals AJ has gone and impacts the trade return. So wouldn't you say that the idea that they would bring him back, that leverage part is over for the Eagles? Doesn't everyone pretty much assume that he's getting traded anyway? I think that's part of it, but it, any semblance of a lie they can maintain ends once they draft a receiver in the first round. So you think it would go into, if they thought the player that they really want is there, you think they would, they would work this into the decision? This is why I think they wanted to trade them before June 1st and I don't buy all the June 1st stuff.
35I think you want to go into the draft without having to worry about how your moves impact the AJ market. Like if you're the Patriots and you see them go and take a receiver in the first round, aren't you sitting there and going like the price just went down? Because now they have to get rid of them. You're not going to go into next season with your first round pick as your number three receiver. Yeah, I guess, I guess I just think that everyone is playing games here and everyone knows that what's going to happen. Yeah, right. They already know where he's going. Yeah, but what do you think the reactions going to be when they take a receiver in the first round? They're going to trade AJ. Exactly. That would be the same thing. That would be the same thing. Right. Now to your point, it could all be decided behind the scenes. I think AJ will be on the Patriots and I can't wait for those training camp practices. But like once they do it, it ends the idea that he could be back. And I think there's still some advantage to other teams. What about the idea that he may not be going into England? Well, so the other part of this is, if the Eagles take receiver in the first round from a receiver needy team, it does in theory in a backdoor way, create another team that could need AJ. Like a Baltimore was looking to take a wide out. Right. And he goes jump them and take their guy.
36Maybe they're creating a market by taking a player. Yeah, I suppose it's possible. I keep thinking about them in the first round and thinking there is just no way they're not going to take an offensive lineman. So here's the only thing about the offensive lineman. I do think they would want to. And I think they go into a lot of drafts wanting to. But would they sit him for a year? Like are you going to, or are you going to play him a guard? I'm probably playing the guard. You probably blame a guard. Now the other question I would say is, what's, what's more important to you if you're making the pick? The best tackle, and even if he can't play guard, or a player with position versatility that you think could play guard, but maybe isn't as good of a tackle prospect. Because if you want to just go pure lane replacement, then I think you have to prioritize the best tackle, right? But if that guy can't play guard, he's not playing for at least a year. Now he might play some games if lane misses or whatever. And we're assuming lane's done after a year. I think you probably will. But let's say lane decides to come back. So I think they will take one in the first round that they see a very clear path to getting on the field too. Okay, that makes sense.
36So it could be, do you think it would be safety? The only reason I don't think they will, they do. I guess my question is, are the Eagles going to do the best player available thing? And whoever they think is the best player at the position they value, they're just going to take them, or are they going in the first round saying, well, we really need people. They might want to go offense because the benefit of a first round rookie is you get him in theory at a way lower cost than what is outputted as a player. Safety's don't really make a ton of money. So if you're taking a first round safety, you're not getting a huge market value there. If you take a starting offense of guard and he plays three years for you, one guard to a tackle, and he's good, you're getting like a massive money save there. I'm thinking old line, D line wide receiver, not necessarily in that order. I think those are the top three positions. Yeah, I think they would, they would be in on an edge. Like if there's an edge there that they like, you know, then could they take him? Yeah. But the receiver, they keep from Ohio State, falls to them. Carnell, uh, Tate.
36Would you trade AJ to get Carnell Tate? So you're trading 20th, let's say he's there at 13. The Rams are about to take him. Are you kidding? I would. I'd be picking a draft for AJ. If you're lucky to get a first round pick in this ball. Okay. I'm just saying I would do it. You would. All right. I almost explode. Well, the 13th pick in the draft would be that how he could have a, another parade down broad street because of the 13th pick in the draft. I agree with you. I was just checking the pulse. Seems like you would do it. Yes. I mean, they could. They could. If the offensive lineman they love doesn't fall to them. The next highest position on their board could be that guy. One of those receivers. Yeah. And it is a position of need. If you're going to trade AJ, you know, bringing in Marquis Brown and. Elijah Moore. They're on one, one year deals, right? Yeah, one year deals. One year deals. So let me ask you. Having that young guy there. I could see them possibly going while I receive it there. Let me, let me ask you this. It's a bit off topic. But I'm curious for like, uh, opinion on this. Oh, yeah.
36Well, no, but I played. Oh, well, that's a good point. Well, you didn't play. I didn't play. So I'm asking the player. Okay. I think they're getting a little close to having a lot of people on that roster. That like, how many players can you point to right now? And you say, well, definitely I'll be on the roster in 27. Jordan Davis. Offensively. So the whole team. Mostly on the defensive side, right? Right. On offense, would you. I can think of four players on deep five players on defense. Yeah. Yeah. Five players on defense. I would say Jordan Davis, Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeGene, Drew McCuba. Yeah. And you think, you think definitely Drew McCuba? Well, you're not going to be on the roster. Yeah, you will be on the roster. Yeah, yeah. Andrew will be here. And Jihad Campbell. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I would say, uh, bond bonds and interest someone, you say, Jalen Conner. I they still have a given on extension. Till they give them an extension, nothing's a lock to me. I think they have a lot of guys that are entering a season where they're not sure if they'll be with the team in 27. One year deals, prove it, situations like, guys that like Tereque Wolland that like, they will be ready to.
36other one. Uh, uh, uh, J-Lex. J-Lex, J-Lex. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. I just think it's a small, I think there are a larger amount of people on the roster that are going into this year, not sure if they'll be with the team in 27, then we'll be, and I wonder what dynamic set sets up where if you're J-Lin, I'll use a large example here with J-Lin, her. It's like, are you looking out for yourself or the team? Now, I know you benefit from the team doing well. If you're a sake one, are you sitting there and going, I need to have a big ear because I got to get a contract because I don't have guaranteed money beyond what would sake one out? Listen, love you. Two K say one of the greatest seasons in Philadelphia sports history. I don't always remember you. I don't think another extension is coming. But this is the point I'm making. No, you got to thank you. You got to check. I agree. But that's the point I'm making is it feels to me from now to looking in. They got a lot of people that are going to be that rightfully so should be worried about themselves over the team. What? Well, hold on. Okay. So let me bring this thing back for a little bit of an epiphany there. All right. Which would make it that much easier
38to keep J-Lin hurts. You can absorb the salary. If what? Well, if you're moving on from somebody's other big salaries, then his salary isn't as much of a hinderance. Let's just want to have a team full of young players that don't really have a chance to win, right? That's what you want to do. I think if you're moving on from older guys in bigger salaries, you can absorb J-Lin's salary. And I don't know if he's going to be in line for an increase of pay. Let's let's put it this way. If he's in line for an increase of pay, that means he's played well. A great. He's played well. But let's just say he plays social this year, but all those other things that were also questions with Janik's. I think those things are big as well. The off the field stuff in the building. How he's perceived amongst his teammates being coachable. Say all those things have been corrected. They improve. And everybody's on the same sort of accord moving forward. You need a veteran quarterback there that's been a proven
40winner to lead the next run of Eagles, right? It gives you a greater chance to get back to where you want to be at versus starting out with a completely young team. That's all I'm saying is that that's what their thing is going to be in 27. His salary, if he does this part on the field, will be a lot more easier to absorb. Doesn't mean he's going to raise. Oh, what have you? He may just has to get one of those contracts where he gets an extension. It's just either the same in the same area. Honestly, he might sign up for the same salary. That's what I'm saying. He's right. Solid for that. Yeah, you're like right now. Look, ever since Ken from sentiments and said they were going to go out and get Baker. I can't think of anything. Oh, no, there's no way they'll. Would you take Baker over? I wouldn't know. Well, you didn't ask me. No, I know what you were going on it. I'm just a little nervous about that situation. A lot of one year deals, a lot of guys that might not feel like the teams is committed to them as maybe they should be to the team. Like, it's a lot of a lot of prove it years. And usually that that
42leads with guys looking out for themselves. Yeah. Also, sometimes you get good performance. Yeah, for sure. Yeah. I agree. 88872994. We will get to this Troy Ackman thing right after I tell you about Guida. No Cowboys fans of Guida. So as mentioned, Troy Ackman, none, none, none. All birds, people over at Guida. Guida Dornwood that that actually doesn't matter. What matters is your windows and doors. And what matters is is that Guida can replace your windows and doors with first of all, expert, expert installation of energy efficient windows, beautiful, insulated entry doors, sliding patio doors, all that stuff. Make your house look and feel great. Also from a price standpoint, how about 20% off all of it? Every single one of those windows I just mentioned, every single one of those doors I just mentioned. And imagine you can start that project with no money out of pocket, not even one dollar. And how about this? You're sitting there enjoying all that new stuff for the next three years. And you're not paying any interest on it, industry financing for
42up to 36 months. There are some restrictions, right? And this is a limited time offer. So to get all the details, what I want you to do is call 877 GoGuy to get yourself a free no obligation in home estimate or go to goguida.com. That's gogyda.com. So I saw this story pop up online. And I didn't hear the audio until I heard it on Go Birds Daily. It was Troy Ackman on the All City Dallas podcast. And he was talking, but Troy Ackman was an advisor to Miami Dolphins. We found this off season. So here is Troy Ackman talking about that role on that pod. I don't know. I think the dolphins were wise in understanding my relationships around the league and knowing that I have information that they don't have or can't get. And I think they were smart in taking advantage of that. Whether it was whether it was through me or through somebody else. The cowboys have never elected to do that. At least with me, you know, maybe they have with others. But no, I don't feel as a conflict.
47But I will say I'm going for the dolphins. And I know that because now I have something at stake. And I think they hire two really talented, wonderful people. And I think that's going to improve itself. Now, 26 is going to be a tough season because of the cap that took a big hit when they left two ago. But you know, time will tell. But yeah, I'm pulling for them. I want to see them do well because I feel like my fingerprints are on it as well. Well, the cowboy didn't laugh at that. So it's like saying to crime out loud. Yeah, he said people. He said there's no conflict, but I have all this inside information and also I'm pulling for the dolphins. So I heard this and I every time I yell about Tom Brady being in meetings with head coaches and players of other teams while being an owner of the Raiders and a decision maker for the Raiders, we hear this all the time. I always say this is ridiculous. Why is the NFL allowing this to happen? Those meetings are it's a lot of off the record stuff. It's a lot of information. Even if it's
49not off the record stuff, you could build relationships. You're not allowed to have those conversations. If you're a general manager with other players. Yeah, well, I mean, first of all, you think we want to start and continue to have conversations with you? Well, and that's not now. Yeah, well, and even even I know this sounds crazy, but even when these guys are talking compliment in complimentary ways on the broadcast about players, you don't think that that Tom Brady, even if he's not doing it consciously, he's doing it subconsciously, this player is going to like me better. Might better, better chance of going to the Raiders. The NFL has to stop this. They have to stop it. I agree. But until they do, the Eagles got to hire somebody. I'm serious. Like, this is such a loophole that is there to be exploited or anything you're not doing. It would be insane. Exactly. Go pay Tony Romo. Go play. Oh, go on. Romo company. Greg Olson. Greg Olson. Yeah. Yeah. Well, it's a cowboy. So I guess you wouldn't like that. But it's insane. These guys get to talk to head coach and quarterback of two teams every single week. They get all this information. If there's one super power, how he has,
53it is collecting information. There's so much information that could be collected here for, what do we think they're paying Treyekman? A few hundred thousand dollars if that. The dolphins? Yeah. No, more than a few hundred thousand dollars. He's not doing anything. He makes like 40 million a year on TV. Treyek me done move for anything less than seven. I bet you it's not more than five hundred thousand. I bet you're wrong. All right. Regardless, it's not. I mean, what's he doing? He's answering phone calls. But I mean, one day, maybe I'm like, he's his time. It's valuable. It is 500,000. There's a lot of money. I'm not saying it's, you know, $50,000. You've done it for way cheaper. Yeah. Well, the Eagles should hire a radio analyst or I mean, Ross Tucker gets to do all this stuff. I'll tell you, Ross might do it for 500k. Yeah. I don't think Treyekman is. Well, I guess I don't know. Yeah. He does do national radio. Yeah. Yes. I think he's not making 40 million dollars on a project. The Eagles should take advantage of us. Well, they should. Every team should. Every team who has the ability to
56hire a color commentator who is sitting in rooms with opposing coaches and players. It is. I'm sorry. That's why I'm doing it. Yeah. You don't do that. I mean, not to mention this is the craziest. By the way, I mean, Aikman saw a tulo and he said, I got to get it. I got to get him. Yeah. Yeah. Well, not to mention the PR benefit of when you're in a national game, you get all this good PR. Like, you know, Treyekman's going to every dolphins game, not that they might get many prime times, but you know, what a well run team they are. Look how good and exciting this young player is. You know, like, there is a benefit to that. Yeah. I'm sure Aikman met with a tulo doing that charges week. I'm sure he did. Maybe thought he was super bright. Maybe it's like he's been buried by this corner. Yes. They were actually critical. Yes. They were. They were. They were. And you know, you can tie all they get it. Try to cut Jalen any slack. That's like the people in the building aren't super high on jail. Well, I wonder. Treyekman's not a stupid person. No. Is he trying to prevent other people from doing it? Like being as blatant as he was in that.
02He didn't get hit in the head a lot though. What's that? He stayed a lot. Yeah. He did. He said that rookie year. I think he said that rookie. Didn't they? They won like two games. Yeah. To your point, though. I mean, I think sometimes when you're that level of fame and wealth, you just don't think yeah. I'm on time. You're like, what are they going to do? Tell me to stop. Okay. Yeah. You know, like the best part of it to me was when he said, you know, there's no conflict, but I'm cheering for the dolphins. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I hopefully said you're cheering for it. It's incredible. The higher Chris Collins worth every time they, you know, he'll be ready for our work. Yeah. Yeah. Just for our full focus, right? Yeah. Former receiver. He can help you. Could you, could you imagine Roma meet with the Eagles? And they asked him a question. We found out about it in offices and working. Yeah. Well, there's that too. Who would be the latest better than jail? Local person they could hire. And why would it be me? Well, yeah, but you don't, you're not sitting. No, I know. But I'm saying, like, I'm seeing the reaction. You know, like the Eagles have hired Elliot as an advisor. I mean, so most a lot of the beat
02writers, I think people would go, oh, that's good. I mean, no offense, the Zach, but, you know, if they hire Zach, they would get it. They hire you. All my draft takes getting dug out. He put you mean the meeting with how he being like, well, watch five minutes of the YouTube. Yeah. You're about your hour. Yeah. Well, I'm telling you, I'm in on your app. Well, you like column Accord to so did I. Yeah. Yeah. Maybe a bit bad didn't work out, but I don't think how important was six five. Uh, I don't think you're wrong, but I don't think you was. I think he's six three. So I'm actually six six five packs and Lynch was the beginning of the franchise swag. Yeah. He was a cool guy. I thought Cardell Jones is your first one. No, I was in on Cardell, but he wasn't franchise. Yeah. So what did you think of? So I mentioned yesterday, Bill Barnwell on ESPN did this column where he basically came up with a trade for every pick in the first round, different trade. And for the 23rd pick that the Eagles have, he had them trading that pick a third round pick and Nolan Smith for Max Crosby. And because I do believe Max
08Crosby's still going to get traded. I give Max a lot though, Max. I think that's an overpack. Yeah, that's a lot. You think so? Well, look, Nolan Smith is is almost like nothing at this point, because if you're trading for Max, well, here's why. Here's why. Because if you're trading for Max Crosby and you assume you're going to pay Jaylux Hunt, then Nolan Smith is not long for the team anyway. So you're, I think really you're trading the first and the third for Max Crosby. And that doesn't seem crazy to me. Well, Nolan Smith is deaf. He's deaf. Yeah. What do you think Nolan will get on the open market if he was a free agent right now? I think he gets a lot more than Arnold Abikati. Oh, who got what? Well, he got one year, eight million. Yeah, he's young. He gets like, I don't know 40 million over three years. Something like that. It would be difficult because he he hasn't finished a whole year. Right. Yeah. It's it's now I'm thinking of Jaylin Phillips, but even Jaylin Phillips probably played more than Nolan Smith did, right? Yeah. I mean, Nolan's had like 11 awesome games in three years. Yeah, right. Maybe a little more. Would you do the Max
10Crosby trade? Yeah, I think about it for sure. Yeah. My concern with Crosby would be he's going to be either is 29 or about to be 29. Yeah, I think he turns 29 in August or September. Yeah, he gets 60 million guaranteed over the next two years. And he has a knee problem. Now their doctors could feel differently about it. His doctor is saying he'll be fine. Obviously, I would just have a lot like that guy you get at 23 should be young, cheap and healthy. That is not Max Crosby. So you are taking an asset where you could get like really good play for years to come at a cheap level and turning it into he's got to be awesome this year right away. Like there's no waiting for him half the season to be healthy. And then in 2020, no, like he's got to be elite from snap one. And that would be my concern with Max Crosby. Now, wouldn't that when you viewed that as that I almost wonder if it would also mean they're not paying Jaylin Carter. Yeah, because you have to yeah, because that's big money. But that's that's money on the line that that isn't you know, I can't imagine they won't actually pay why do you give up a first round pick for Max Crosby and a third round
13pick. Don't you want to resigning Max Crosby. Yeah, well, I think he probably wants an extension. That's what I said right now. Two years, right? Unless I miss it. It's noteworthy when he got traded to Baltimore, which I know he didn't pass a physical, but there was still three or four days in between. There was not an immediate report of they're trading for Max Crosby and he's getting this big time. No, because when he did it, they already knew the day. But also Max Crosby could look and go, I've never won. I'm getting 30 million a year for the next two years. That's not bad. I get a chance to go. That's not bad. Yeah, it's pretty good. It's pretty good. I was just saying if we're going to have him here, I was wanting more than two years. I would be worried about that. I would not want to extend him if they got him. I just don't get why you're already paying top value for a guy that has a knee injury. We think he could be awesome or it could be three games in. And it's like this guy is cooked. No, you're right. So then I wouldn't do it immediately. But if he gets through this first year and he wants to do it, like, yeah, if you want to do it next year, I'd be okay with that. Would you do the first or third in Nolan? I would not. I still think that's a lot first third in Nolan. The first and the third, I would have a problem with
19and then when it comes to Nolan, like Nolan is dead. Yeah, but just for this year, really. Yeah, but you know, because you're not after this year. I mean, I would also argue like, who would you bet would have more herries and sacks from here to like, you know, the next five years? Like, is it definitely Max Crosby? Yes. I don't know. Max again, Max Crosby is 29 coming off of I know me and you know, no one's an ankle all the time. He's hurt more than Max Crosby's been pretty reliable. Now, I'm not mistaken. Nolan's been all upper body, right? Hasn't it been like a shoulder? Yeah, I think so. Right. So I couldn't miss a man. Yeah, he may have had a knee or I would just be really concerned about investing big time money in Max Crosby. It is a good time to subscribe to GoBirdStaley and the GoBirds podcast because GoBirdStaley, you're getting a lot of draft stuff. You're getting Elliott's positional rankings. Well, it's the new series we're doing. GoBirds on the clock every day, a new draft pod with a different draft board. Oh, there you go. When are you doing quarterbacks? When are you doing a quarterback? Tomorrow, big boat. I already recorded it comes out tomorrow. Oh, there you go. That's going to be short. Well, there's not a lot of quarterbacks, but yeah, it's still like 40 minutes. Oh, there you go.
22Well, you get it wherever you get your podcasts. Thank you. As always, Elliott. Now speaking of draft takes, there's Elliott's, which we respect, of course. Yes. But then there's Mayo. And Mayo, it digs into the film. Hell, he would laugh at our YouTube scouting. Mike, Mayo. You should actually, like, once you're done your YouTube scouting, throw all your your takes at him. Yes, because remember, we did the offensive line one with the Ross ones. Yeah, he made fun of you for Roger Rosengard. He does. And he was on the all rookie. He's good player. Yes. So, so maybe we have Mayo Joe judge my YouTube big board at some point. That would be fun. Jim, you think you don't think it would be fun? Telling Gabriel. All right. Wow. He was a starter. He was a starter. He was a starter. Okay, starter rookie, rookie year starter. All right. Mike, Mayo joins us next. This is the WIP afternoon show at Ike's bike and frets.
