5:10Good thing the guys are here to bring you in case you missed it. There's some guy by the name of Aireling Holland. It's a really good soccer player. He's an origin soccer player. He's very good. One of the big leads fan. Yeah, one of the one of the world's one of the world's best. Apparently, he's on the same wavelength as one of our Aireington because he wants to bring new audience. And new audiences to the chess world. He is becoming a strategic investor in a world chess championship tour scheduled to launch next year. He's helped establish a company called chess mates, which will be a significant owner of Norway. Chess, the owner of the total chess world championship tour. He said he said. I'm not, I'm not in on that one. I'm in on this topic. It's a fault.

6:10I'm not co-signing with you. God, the total chess world championship tour. Check what chess mates. What does that mean? Chess mates. Quote. I will not. Chess is an incredible game. It is. It sharpens the mind and there are clear similarities to football. You have to think quickly, trust your instincts and think several moves ahead. The 25 year old combined with an Norwegian businessman, a Martin Borg, for their undisclosed investment in chess and said he wants to turn the game quote and do an even bigger sport for spectators around the world. The new chess tour chess mates will be hosted in four new cities and combine different disciplines in chess, fast, classic, rapid and blitz to crown a combined world champion with a minimum annual prize pool of $2.7 million.

7:13That already exists. Like those, those terms already exist. Like blitz and rapid. Yeah, they already exist. They got all sorts of disciplines. I live on chess.com. That's wonderful. It's a wonderful story. You're going to get involved. It's a great game. I just, I'm not sure about the name of that, man. I don't know. That's fear. I just not going to clown anything. I'm just not going to clown anything that has to do with chess because chess is such. It's the most amazing sport. I'm going to be chess mates, buddy. I mean, can you imagine join us coming up to you and looking at you and going, hey, var, we're going to be chess mates. Hey, let's go meet up on chess mates. I could see where you're coming from. I just changed the name. That's all saying. All right. But then I feel like if it's chess mates, it's a guy that doesn't sound like it's much better. It's the whole makes thing. Whatever you put before it and had to make something, you know,

8:16wow, I mean, wow. Now that is an A. So I mean, you know, I think, I think you're onto something though. I think it's starting to blossom of sports, sports gaining popularity. I've still never played. Oh, you should. It is a great game. It's not for everybody. It's all good. It's like crafts people tried to explain it. Not for Mary Mack after that whooping. Damn, just saying, var, what a var. I mean, a few times. You got so bad. She attacked me on live radio. You said it is. Shit hostile. It's all good. Yeah, I had a, I had a rough day yesterday, though. You stop playing with lock. He's been, I feel like he's been playing longer. He's been, he's in the thousands, the bearings. He's in the thousands. What was the rough day? His beef, his, his beef has been pretty interesting too, by the way. Like the, the Steven A and him talking with Cam, like, that's been a pretty interesting deal.

9:20We've been, like, we, we talk on the phone while we play. And so I've, I've gotten some interesting feedback on conversations on, on that. But he's really good at chess, man. Like, I don't know. It upsets me. I've come really, really, really close to beating him, but I can't seem to get him. I can't closing him out and, and I make a dumb mistake at the end. It's not good. So whatever. Where did that, where did Whitlock flee college football? Was it Miami of Ohio or ball state? Ball state. Yeah. Yeah, ball state. An old Lyme. He's big, big something. Well, I mean, big now, but different type of big backs. His chess was actually up, not down the way he goes after Steven A for his. It's so good. It's so funny, man. It's fun. I mean, it's Steven A's funny, too. What do you call him a roach? He said he's, yes, he did. They got in. That I mean, they got, they got it in. So that's out for Cam, though.

10:20I mean, I feel like when you do beefs, like, like man up, right? If you're going to, if you're going to beef with somebody, then get on air with him. Like Cam, Cam had beef with him. He got, he brought him on his show. I would love to see Steven A. Call Whitlock to task and pull him on his show. I would never happen ever. That, yeah, because we all know why it would never. Yeah, that's not, that's not ever going to happen. That's not, Whitlock is a lot of things, but what he's not is, he's not. He, he's a super, super intelligent, dude, bro, super intelligent. Like, I know Steven A, I don't know Steven A real well, but I, you know, I look at his work. I don't have nothing bad to say about it, but I don't think that would go well. I just think that's why he, you know, he doesn't, he, he won't face him. There's, I think there's a lot of quote unquote media beefs that are just all garbage.

11:22They're manufactured. They're people trying to get, you know, everybody fired up. Like I don't, you know, the, the Pat McAfee, Dan Orlowski stuff that's going on. Like who the hell knows? Like, I love it. I love Pat, but Pat just shoots from the hip. Yeah, it's just authentic. Like what he said in that exchange, he meant it. Like Dan Orlowski, like he's a lot of his opinion and he's right. But can I cut it here for a second? Cause I want to be very clear when I say this, I do not care. I will gladly take a $10 fines. Listen, that, that's what I can do. This is terrible to me. But I will ask this is, is that Orlowski Mac, if you think just about the Thai Simpson comments, is that what this is about? Yeah, yeah, I don't, I don't, here's the thing is I don't pay attention to beefs. I got way too many of the things going on in my life to like pay attention to media beefs. But I'll say this in defense of Dan Orlowski. I'm not saying that I think Thai Simpson has proven to be a better quarterback. Then Fernando Mendoza.

12:22I do think it's closer than people think. I think Mendoza is the top quarterback in this draft class. And Thai Simpson's probably not as far off. Now there's, there's some issues there. He's only played one year in some of those big games. You know, he didn't deliver quite as much. But I also, you know, if you look at the two teams, Alabama didn't run the football half as well as Indiana did. And so, you know, Thai Simpson was put in a position we had to carry that team at some, you know, at moments. And also defensively, Bama wasn't the same defense as that they were in Nick Saban. So it's only one year of starts and you see some big boy throws. You see some throws that Thai Simpson makes that you go, yeah, man, like I can see how people would love his, the tape that, that, you know, and what he put out there. So again, I still think Fernando Mendoza is the top quarterback in this draft class. I just don't think it's as far as part and I could see if someone has watched Thai Simpson's tape and like kind of becomes a little bit enamored with some of it. Because you just see more NFL style throws was what they do.

13:23But again, I don't, I mean, it was the approach. It was the approach. But it's seriously estimate who cares? I mean, a lot of people care actually. I mean, about these guys back into a lot of, you pay attention to a lot of different things. I a lot of people would probably say the same thing. Yeah, that's probably true. First segment, if I were like you and I had a way to show like Tiger, that first segment, I would have, you know, I would have, like the way I, did you see the way I was there was a shock to surprise. Yeah, don't talk about Tiger. Go ahead. What are you excited about? What's your last talk about now? I know. But hey, you know, it's radio, you know, like the adjustable, you know, I already do myself a fine. I'm up there for 30, but that's, but that's kind of what I was getting at is I think a lot of the media beefs are manufactured to generate conversations outside of it. I think the Steve and A Whitlock one is 100% authentic. Oh, that's authentic. They are love ski, a Pat McAfee.

14:24I think that's a product of, there aren't enough quarterbacks in the mix for first rounders. So this is where this, this, they've, you've got to start to stir up the pot a little bit because there's been all sorts of stuff about time and that's, you don't think that was authentic. Like the dude said, I name a big game that Mendoza played in. Like, I mean, that's like, to me, like, come on. I think it's good. I think you can have your opinion about who you think is better. I think it's good for me. I thought he, I thought he was saying name a big game that he played, big game that he played well in. I thought that's what he said. Not that he played in. Yeah, I guess it, however we interpret it, but still, I mean, well, there, there's two different things. I mean, there's a number of games where I feel like he played in obviously big games like that's not disputable. I think what he's challenging is in some of the toughest teams they played, he didn't play his best football. Like one of the stats that was going around that was kind of interesting is, you know, how many times that Fernando Mendoza, for example, threw for over 300 yards in

15:29this final year, like that's become a point of people being like, oh, like, do you even know what that number is? What I know is, is that Fernando Mendoza has come up big. He came up big for them in every big moment that they needed him to come up big. I just don't get lost in stats. Like if people want to use stats as a way to judge a player, I don't get lot, like, it's his impact. Fernando Mendoza had the biggest impact on college football of any player, and no one's to speak that. That's all I'm saying, like, we can't know how big did he, he came up big in games that he didn't have large stat lines in that's to me. Okay, but, but you're kind of, you're kind of getting away from it because we're trying to make this more, but like I'm just saying, like, this is, this is one of the knocks that people have been saying, like he threw for over 300 yards. I think this past season, once, and so people are trying to make a big deal about that. But also they tend to forget, well, is he going to throw for over 300 yards against

16:31Illinois when they beat the absolute life out of them? I mean, first off, like, that's one of those that that was a big game. Like Illinois was a top 25 ranked team at the time. They're still a good football team at the end of the year when you look back at it. And it was in a big moment in prime time. Everyone's watching and they beat the absolute life out of them. He was 21 for 23 with five touchdowns and perfect. And so obviously he wasn't going to play much or throw much in the second half anyway. You know, go to the Oregon game. I mean, they beat the life out of Oregon and he played phenomenal in that game. Like I think he had three incompletions in that game. He had more touchdown passes than incompletions. And so did he go for over 300 yards? No, but like, did you watch the game? Like he didn't need to. Like they beat the crap out of them. So I just, I think there's narratives that get thrown out there and stats that get thrown out there. And we talked about this earlier this week. Some of the agents just trying to take, you know, and knock at them. And I think that's what there's a concern of here because of who Dan Olofsky is represented by and who Ty Simpson is represented by.

17:33And that is to be quite frank, like it's always going to be a conflict of interest. When you have an agency that's so big, they represent multiple people. Even though they might have different agents, they're all under the same umbrella. And they might bump shoulders from time to time. And so you, you worry about the legitimacy of all that. And if it's truly objective or if he's persuaded by stuff. So I understand what you're saying. And I'm right there with you. Like I feel like Fernando Mendoza stepped up and some of the biggest moments. Like Pat McAfee talked about kind of that, that fourth quarter and some of the throws he made and just how tough he played. First one of the best defenses. And I don't sit there and be the first to tell you, like if you guys, for example, var are playing, you know, the San Luis Rams back during the greatest show on turf. Like do you care that much about stats in that game or just getting a win? Because you know they're going to score, right? Like you play, like when we played against USC. Back with Reggie and Matt and all that. Like we went into that game saying, we just want to have the ball last. Because we know if they have the ball last, they're probably going to score. Because they're that damn good.

18:34Like that's, that's how, you know, games are. So it's like to your point, like stats can get a little bit manipulated or it need to be throughout the window sometimes. In this case, though, I would just say this. Like yes, Mendoza is the best in this class. I just, I don't think the margin between him and Ty Simpson. If you went out and watched them both throw the football in a workout, you'd be like, oh, he's that much better, right? Like there's other years where you watch kids come in and throw and you go, wow. Like that guy is incredible. And you know, it's just, it's so again, people are going to have different opinions on this. Obviously, Rolofsky has his opinion on it. You know, whether or not it's manipulated by CAA, I mean, only he really knows. But like at the end of the day, like I could still see with some of the film, you'd say like, all right, I could see people having a favorable opinion. I don't know how he sees them better than Fernando, but again, that's his take. That's his opinion. I don't even have a problem, but I don't even have a problem with Rolofsky's idea and opinion of thinking that Ty is better than Fernando. I don't have a problem with it.

19:35I just, what I had, what what I took a little bit of issue with is you don't have to put him down. You don't have to put Mendoza down to, to build Ty Simpson up. And I think that that's what Dan Rolofsky was, was guilty of in this, in this scenario. He did not have to make it that way. That's all I'm saying. Like to me, that, that's why I felt like you're asking, all right, if, if the beef was real between him, like I could understand where, where Pat McAfee was coming from. That's, that's a, Mendoza stats, whatever, we can look at everything that that culminates what Mendoza was this year. I think we would all agree that he exuded a level of leadership, a level of humility, a level of greatness that was the catalyst for what that team would, would become, which is national, national chance. That's a, I don't think, I don't think he needed to do anything to take anything away

20:36from, from that is what I, that, that was my point. That's why I thought it was, it was legit, the exchange between them was legit because it was like, he was downplaying, he was downplaying it in essence, what ferment, Fernando Mendoza's impact on these games were. That's, that was, and that's my take on it. And I think that's why I thought it was interesting. Okay, when, when you have like teams that are great, right, like they were undefeated, ran the table, I mean, beat the crap out of some really good teams. It, you know, a lot of NFL evaluators find it hard because they're like, oh, I want to see what he did when they're trailing. I want to see what he did, you know, when they're coming back, because the truth is, he's going to get drafted the Raiders and, and the Raiders, obviously, have not been a good football team and he's going to be expected to, you know, bring them to the level of what he was doing at Indiana and help turn around the Raiders much like he turned around Indiana, or I should say, at least was part of, you know, them winning a national championship turning around. Obviously, they were, they were, they were, they were, you know, they were, they're not. Well, he could, he could be a part of it, you know, they need more pieces.

21:38But what's interesting is, you know, he only threw about 49, 50 attempts. I think with trailing this year, losing. But in, if you, if you go break down, because I obviously do, I mean, I geek out, I do like different cut-ups, different things. And, and because everyone, I knew people were going to bring this up and try to knock it. And if you go watch that tape, just every attempt that he made while they were trailing this past year, you'll sit there and say, like, yeah, that's the first overall pick. Like he, like he was, he was lights out in the moments when they needed him to be the mercenaries. And it wasn't very often, but he was, he was phenomenal this year during that time. Yeah, I also think that, you know, Orlowski had them, we had them did the right since in state college and not man beat us. Or, Orlowski's probably sensitive because he knows that there is that narrative around, you know, if he's influenced by his take on it. And so any time, you know, if somebody goes there with him, he probably feels really defensive about it. And it sounded like he got defensive.

22:40I also think this, all of this is a, is a decent conversation, but the draft coming up. If one guy gets drafted to a bucket of vomit and the other guy doesn't, who's going to be the better quarterback and of the better career? Probably the guy who's in a better situation. Well, and so, like, like all of this is kind of a loop. Chances are, it's, it's, I guess, listen, I don't see any quarterback, not even, I don't see any quarterback changing what, what the Raiders have going on right now. And that, that's why if you look at it, if you, if that's set, wouldn't want to say, if Mendoza goes to the Raiders, if everybody agrees, he's going to go to the Raiders. And then all of a sudden, Ty Simpson is drafted at what, 21, 22 to the Steelers, is the heir apparent to Aaron Rodgers. I'd way, or rather have that situation than the one that, then that Fernando Mendoza is going into. So at the end of it, no, that one's a little foggy too. I mean, I'll, I'll take my chances in Pittsburgh over over Las Vegas. Sorry.

23:42But hey, he made, or Lovsky may get the last laugh in the conversation, but is it because Ty Simpson is going to be this amazing quarterback at the next level? And Fernando Mendoza isn't, I don't know. I just don't, I don't know. There's plenty more former players sitting on the couch that I sit on, than on the couch that Tom Brady sits on. Like there's just, it's just not, you know, by the stats of, of players who have success that, that go into certain situations, it's just, it's a high, it's a high number of guys that don't prove out. And also, it's just, it's a higher number. It's just you're in more, that's just, that's the situation you're in. And also, if you go back to, look, whatever happens initially, that's cool. What about the long term? Because there was a long time where people thought, man, boy, did the Rams really screw up that Jared Goff pick with Carson one sitting there at number two.

24:46And upon further review, who's had the better career by a mile, not even close. So just because initially, maybe it doesn't look good, doesn't mean long term. One guy's not going to be better than the other. It's just, like, I think a lot of this stuff is, you know, they've got to stir it up. There's two quarterbacks at the top and everybody else is left behind. And you know, those guys got a little, a little in their feelings. But LaVore's point to me is, is the biggest. It's like, it is weird that this time of year, we have to, like have guys who are broken down or talked about negatively. It's like, they both had moments they played really well. Like highlight that, how like what they do well. What they NFL teams be the ones that take shots of what they can or cannot do, or what they speculate that they cannot do. Like, we haven't seen them there yet. So to that point, like, that's what I've never understood about this process. And it's why that I think it's always manipulated by the agents. Because they're the ones that do try to lower someone else or put out reports, whether it's injury related or stuff off the field, or things that hear from different, you know, scouts, whatever else.

25:47And they feed it to people who have to be able, again, and be a part of this 24, seven news cycle, or they're always coming up with something. And that's where this all starts and it's kind of manipulated by it. It's always the agents. Well, I know of something we can all agree on. TNA. It could get up to $9 million assuming that would be playing time included with Joe burrows. The starter that's always up in the air. So maybe he gets to that full $9 million. But nonetheless Joe Joe Flacco is back. He is approaching, I believe, his 19th season in the NFL. And he had this to say at the press conference yesterday. I feel like I have unfinished business as part of why I'm still here and playing and doing all those things. And and and not being one of those guys to go sign somewhere.

33:01Yeah, it pisses me off a little bit. I feel like I can help a team win. And yeah, it may be in a different role here. But I do still think I can help this team win in that role. I had a lot of fun with Joe and Joe's the guy. And believe me, I wish I was a guy somewhere. And I think teams are dumb for not having maybe that guy. But it is what it is. And I'm not going to let me. I'm not going to let them get me down. I'm going to be the person I am. And just approach football the way I always have. Is this age is him? Did he just not get an opportunity? Because he's just what I love is the headline reads a lot more vicious than the sound bite. And it's it's why we tend to lose sight of, you know, how much tone reread through text. The better really sound like he was just fired up about it or everything else compared to headlines about people have written. No. No. So it's like, all right. I mean, I think he understands why is that? Where is that? There's no doubt it has to do with his age.

34:01Some people might take issue with how he's played. But he's also been putting some pretty tough spots. And he's bounced around from team to team. I mean, he's in, you know, since I had ankle even last year. So he's kind of coming in to help out. I had trying to learn a new system on a whim. Like that's really, really hard to do. So look, his mindset is exactly what it still needs to be. Is that when he goes in there, he's going to have a chance or opportunity to win games. And that's the only way he can think. And look, he, when we can change the perception about him is, is winning some football games. But even then, when he's 41 years old now, I mean, at, yeah, you know, at this age, it's going to be hard to convince people to want to make a long-term investment. Like in you or have you be their guy, like even if you were the guy to start the season, someone else, let's say the New York Jets, for example, if that was the destination, you, you realized they're probably going to draft someone, right? I mean, at least if not this year next year. So it's just no matter where you go at this stage,

35:02you're going to be looked at as a guy who's even just a placeholder, even if you are the starter for a period of time. I think that, uh, I tend to agree with that. Go ahead. Oh, I was going to say, I think that Flacco's at a point to where, because I watch him play last year and I'll ask you guys this, does he look that much different from when he first came to the league? Like it, I don't know. He ran, he ran when he first got a league more than you think. As far as the attempts and stuff per game, and then they moved him more to throw, you know, more than he has. Like I know it's not, it doesn't look like a ton, but he did use to move a little bit better and more so than you think. But I mean, he's, I understand where you're saying that or where you're going. He can, but he still slings at the same. He steps into, as you mentioned, bad situations and plays really, really well. And I look at it and I go, I can understand why the guy's frustrated, because he's looking at other quarterbacks, getting an opportunity thinking, wait, what, you, you made it tell me I couldn't go in and beat out Michael Pennick's junior

36:07or to a tug of eye low at this point in their career for a job. I probably could. Kevin Stavansky knows that. That's why I looked at Atlanta and said, hey, maybe that's a landing spot. But I wonder if he finds himself in a situation where, hey, man, his ceiling is still really high. I mean, through for almost 500 yards against the bears last year, like his ceiling's really high. Maybe it's too high that, you know, maybe we'll let him just go back to Cincinnati and sit on the bench, because if we win too many games, we're going to be on the outside looking at one of these top quarterbacks in the draft next year. Oh God. He's too, I think he's too a little too good. Still at 41 years old. I think Brady has the best point in the situation. He's just too, he's too old to, to attach your, your wagons to for an extended amount of time. And, and that is going to outweigh all the pros that are connected to

37:07having him on your team. Is he a short term? Can he be a short term solution for success? Absolutely. But when you bring in a guy like Joe Flacco, you're, I mean, you're, you're trying to either win immediately right now in the initial and you'll take that opportunity and you'll take that chance. Just like an example, would be Philip Rivers being brought in by the Colts. Or you have him there to, to be an, an extra set of eyes, an on-fill coach, a mentor to the other guys that are in, in the meeting room. And I know we've gotten into the conversations of how overstated and how overblown that is, but it is valuable, even if a guy doesn't want to proactively help you develop as a pro, having a pro in the locker room, having a pro in the meeting rooms. And you're getting the opportunity to observe, like if I'm a coach,

38:09I'm telling you, he may not want to work with you to help you be better. But that doesn't mean you can't watch what he does. Log the questions that he asks. You know, if you get an opportunity, ask what he put in his notebook. Can I see your notes? Compare what you have going on. That's how you improve. And I think that those are the value props that come with a guy with the type of experience that Joe Flacco has, but they're not looking at him to be the guy those days are gone. He, I don't, I would safely say, I do not think that Joe Flacco will ever be brought in and be viewed and looked at as you are the guy for this job. I think that that ship has sailed hell of a career, though, man. Not a Hall of Famer, but it's still going damn good career. Yeah, still going and a great dude, by the way. I mean, I know who's been around him. He's, he, and you could see why the locker room probably, you know, accepted him,

39:11so commend the way they did. And then clearly he understands too, like the culture and the place he wants to be around. And by the way, if you see him out at a bar eating a steak, you know, having a nice meal by himself, don't bother him. All right, just let him, let him get some peace and quiet, and let him have a nice meal to himself. Okay, that's all the guy wants. Yeah. Like it's fair. I don't know. Yeah, like you're trying to get away. If you guys remember talking about this, but that guy's got a maid, man. So if you see Joe out there at the bar there, and since now, I don't, probably a Jeff Rubies or somewhere, but if you see him down there, just let him enjoy his meal. All right, a lot of that's a little piece and quiet. Yeah, nothing better than, uh, white Jeff Rubies. Yeah, man. Good. A Andy firm had always blow-vaded about Jeff Rubies. Oh, incredible. Yeah, incredible. Buddies with that. John, we're going to get you out of order, man. It's a good vibe at that spot, too. Well, let's go to the Derby, man. All those horses have Rubies' steakhouse, uh, signs on their, uh, on their ass when they run around.

40:11That's where I did it. On their flanks. That's where I did it. In Kentucky. Flanks ass same thing. Oh, um, by the way, Joe Flacco. Yeah. A little over 48,000 career passing yards put some 14th all time. So damn good career. Top, top 20. And he's got a Super Bowl. Yeah, top 20 passing touchdowns. And last year was his first Pro Bowl. If you want to consider that a Pro Bowl. That's wild. Yeah. But I mean, he played, you know, in an era with, you know, Rothisberger and Doug Brady and Pete Manning. So he just was always got. I still think. I mean, Super Bowl MVP obviously is up there. But the five games he started for Cleveland. Taken from the playoffs back in 2023. That was still some of the most fun. It had to have been part of the highlight when he looks back on his career. Just how much fun that was. I mean, he was absolutely slinging it too.

41:11I mean, I think he averaged over three yards of game. It was absurd. How well he played in that stand. And just like the fact they needed him too. And he stepped up. And also just hadn't played for Baltimore for all those years. It's just that was a cool story. Like that was one of the more fun years. One of the more things I'll remember the most about his career. Again, outside of Super Bowl MVP. And obviously him, you know, playing for a long time in Baltimore. But that was that was that was a cool year. Also, when he was when he won the game in Denver, the playoff game. Great game. That was when the Broncos were at their heights. When they had manning and all those great weapons. And the Ravens went on that run. And Flacco went in and out dueled paid manning in that game. At mile on and he threw cow. Who's the receiver? He threw was it Jacobi Jones. It might have been Jacobi, but Jacobi Jones in that game. Raheem Moore was a safety. Unblown. Probably this played that. Yeah, unbelievable. So Joe Flacco's back man.
