2:10And you hear me all so eyes just like that. So from Jorge Castillo at ESPN, writing about this great write-up on what happened last night. He says Luis Sarayas worked to lead off walk before Havier Senoha replaced him as a pinch runner. Senoha Marlin playing in his home ballpark is not a prolific base stealer. He went just 6 for 11 on steel attempts last season, but he swiped second base just barely anyway. And then the battle at the play between Suarez and Whitlock. It wasn't until the seventh pitch, an 83 mile per hour change up. The caught too much of the plate that the clash was decided with Suarez's line to the left center gaps. Senoha thanks to his daring base running squirt easily. And Suarez looked into his dugout when he reached second base and pointed to the heavens.

3:10His mother Rosalia watched in the stands. I almost had a heart attack. She told him the teams entered Tuesday with identical five and one tournament records. Venezuela dropped their final game against the Dominicans before they pulled off comeback win against Japan and then a comeback win against Italy. And then ultimately beat the Americans in the championship game yesterday. So amazing stuff, amazing theater at the World Baseball Classic. That's one story. I've got another one for you here and you tell me if this one passes the smell test. Aiden Hallway of the Alabama Crimson Tide is no longer a member of the Alabama Crimson Tide. Because authorities found 2.1 pounds of marijuana in his apartment and he was arrested on a felony drug possession charge. The amount is significant because any amount of marijuana above 2.2 pounds, which is a kilogram in the state of Alabama can result in a drug trafficking charge.

4:19So either this guy got incredibly lucky or the very deliberate they cut him while or the authorities. Right. I got you found a friendly scale potentially to help him avoid the trafficking charge. He was apparently removed from campus and is not with the team days before the start of the NCAA tournament. He told police he wanted to exercise his Miranda rights remain silent during the search of his apartment, but then he did told police I only smoke. He said, I don't know what's going on here, but I can tell you this. 2.1 pounds of marijuana is a lot of marijuana a lot like that's a lot not personal consumption amount at least not nothing that I've ever heard of as a long time in my 20s anyway. Partake of the devil's lettuce and many of my friends did as well was a kind of a bit of a focal point of our lives in many ways.

5:19Nobody but nobody ever had to let alone one pound of marijuana unless they were in that's where he went to go buy you bought it from the guy that had that. So we'll see what happens to this guy's a kid. Especially now it's so easy to order stuff on the internet. Well, maybe not in Alabama, you know, I'm not sure about that. Honestly, I don't know unless he's a big bulk buyer, you know, and freezes it and vacuum sees it and freezes it. I wonder how they how the police ended up knocking on his door as well. Yeah, but because it smells like a grow up in there people like what's going on in there. Yeah, could be, although I mean in this day and age, you know, you can call in the cops, you smell a little. That's it. So I wonder too. I mean, I'm sure I don't know if it's probably not written in the story, but in the NIL era where you know, if you and I were talking about the story 10 years ago with, you know, maybe selling some guy selling dime bags, you know, put a little bit more money in his pocket, right? I don't know if he's got an NIL contract if he makes money as an athlete for for Alabama or whatever.

6:23But he's a, I mean, he's a very good player. Yeah, he's one of their best players. So and a super important player for that team. How good? I don't know. Speaking of basketball, by the way, we've got some big stuff happening later on this morning. Dwight Walton is going to be in studio and we are going to be welcoming a Harlem Globetrotter by the name of Zeus McClurkin in studio. Listen, this is his thirty-second start of the season tonight. He's got twenty-one wins already.

9:26Now, if you go back to the post-expansionary of the Montreal Canadiens in terms of rookie goal tenders, wins in a season. Look at where Dobish fits on this list. I mean, it's... And you're looking at some pretty big names. It's too in particular. Patrick Wall, Kerry Price. We'll see what happens tonight. But Dobish has a realistic chance of passing both of them and winding up maybe even second on this list if you can catch Steve Penny and really get high here down the stretch. So, you know, that's a pretty... This is the Montreal Canadiens. No, since 1967. This is not nothing for rookie goalies. And, you know, the Wallstick talk, his save percentage is much better than Dobish's. But if you look at sort of the advanced metrics, Gold saved above expected. They're really neck-and-neck coming into tonight. This many wins as a rookie goalie and relatively rare feat. I think Dobish should be getting a little bit more attention. The guys talked about this incredible stat earlier. The Canadiens 26.0 and 3 when they get a save percentage above 900. Yeah. Which is significant. We continue to talk about Gold spending. Oh, significant that they only happen 29 times. Yeah, that's a good way to prove as well. And so it'll be an ongoing conversation.

10:26Who will be the starter? Who will be the starter? But it's also a discussion when we talk about defensive pairings. What will the tandem should be down the stretch here? We see Marta Saylui changing things up a little bit. As he kind of told us today, he's just going to keep juggling things. Well, that is what he said. It's not how it's turned out tonight. I mean, honestly, he answered your question. I wouldn't pay too much attention to the pairings. Didn't really seem to want to talk about it because in reality, he has to do this because the way the defense is made up of the Canadiens is not ideal. Jeff Gorton and Ken Hughes were looking at right shot defense and heading into the trade deadline. And this is the reason why is that they've had to juggle. So tonight, he puts play-and-hats in with Jaden Strubel. Now, entering tonight, Alex Kerry has been playing with either Strubel or Jack Hyatt. And if you look at the number of people that he's played with over the last four games, he hasn't played with a single person for more than 50% of his five on five ice time in those four games. There's not one solid partner there that he spent more than half his minutes with. So coming into tonight, especially with the way Marta said it

11:28this morning and was kind of dismissing all this chatter of who's on the knee pairs, you know, don't pay it. Don't buy into the pairings. We juggle a lot. That's not been the case. Lane Hudson has played primarily with Jaden Strubel. Tonight, Ken Gouli is playing his best game in a while playing with Alex Kerry and Kerry himself. I think benefits from having a strong partner like Gouli. So we'll see what happens here in the third period. But this is not as advertised. Marta, he was talking about this morning for sure. Jaden Strubel in the lineup. Barbara Jack Hyatt, the healthy scratch. Let's not forget. Jack Hyatt will be in RFA at the end of this season. So he's a guy playing for a contract as we continue to see what these pairings will be down the stretch for them. There's Kenzie Lilone with Arpin Basu, and the second intervention of last night's Canadians and Bruins game. And I don't know. I find it interesting. Maybe I guess I'm probably guilty of overreacting because I'm definitely outnumbered. Listening to the coach when he held his media availability before the game and you heard Arpin Basu right there. Don't worry about the defensive pairings. The stopboard doesn't really matter kind of attitude, which I'm like, well, it kind of does matter.

12:28They're trying to fix this. They're trying to, you know, get right for the playoffs and maybe have a little bit more consistency and belief in whether you want to keep Goolean and Kerry together for the foreseeable future and seeing of Strubel and Hudson can, you know, analytically last year they were a fantastic tandem, right? But it's been very much a mixed bag this season but they were together there yesterday. I look good last night. I know, Dave. 15:33All right, so did you just ask Hugh's story? He told Greg Wischinsky yesterday that he's trying to get the puck back, the golden goal puck from the Olympics. Why? Because the hockey hall of fame hasn't. He was asked about this back in February by Tony Granado on TNT. And he said, honestly, I don't even know where that puck went. I know who doesn't have it as me. I sure as hell don't have it, says Jack Hughes. That was back on February 26th. The following day on February 27th, there was some concern that day on February 26th in the hockey world. Where's the puck? And then eventually the double IHF, a spokesperson told the Sportico that the puck was immediately secured and designated for archival preservation with the hockey hall of fame to ensure it's long-term safekeeping and historical recognition. So it's in Toronto at the hockey hall of fame, along with the other golden goal puck. And Hughes told Wischinsky yesterday, I can't even read you the quote,

16:33but this is what he says. I'm trying to get it, like that's bleep, that the hockey hall of fame has it in my opinion. Why would they have that puck? He told Greg Wischinsky, I don't see why Megan Keller or I shouldn't have those pucks, says Jack Hughes. There's an Olympics 26 display that also contains a Hillary 19 USA jersey, a stick used by Brady Kitchak among other items from the Olympic Games that just wrapped up in Milan. And he says he wants the puck for himself and his family, saying he would give his golden puck to his father. And he says, I wouldn't even want it for myself. I just want it for my dad. I know he just loved, love having it. Apparently his dad, Jim Hughes, is an archivist for Jack and his brothers, Quinn and Luke, who both play in the NHL. When I look back in time in my career, I don't collect too many things for myself, but my dad's a monster collector for the three of us. I know he would have a special place for it. Hughes says, he's done since winning and scoring that goal.

17:35He's done an appearance on Saturday Night Live. He did the tonight show with Jimmy Fallon. He did the Pat McAfee show as well. He's become like famous, you know. What do you think Sean about Jack Hughes saying it's BS that he doesn't have the puck? You know, I have mixed feelings about it. You know, you talk about the other gold and gold crossbeats. There's a whole thing, the net, the stick, and the puck. It's all assembled in a visual package at the hockey hall of fame. I think ultimately I land on the spot that I think it should belong in the hockey hall of fame. You know, I understand his point. I get it for his dad, for his family. It's a very special moment. But to me, the moment is bigger than your personal needs. And it's a part of hockey history. It is, but I go back and forth. You know why? I'll give you a recent example. You know, when I was lucky enough to travel to Italy for a vacation last fall. I saw the statue of David in person.

18:35Finally, I saw it, right? And I was like, wow, it's amazing. I saw the call. It seems amazing to see it before my very eyes. I've seen it on the internet. I've seen pictures of it. You were looking a lot of pictures of David on the internet. Fair question. We'll save that for another day. But I guess the one I'm trying to make is, what do you get out of seeing the puck? You know, if you go to the hockey hall of fame and you go to this exhibit and you see the puck, it's not like art in the sense that you look at it through different angles and you stare it and try to understand it. It's a puck. You know, it's just a puck. So I don't know. I don't know. But ultimately, I'm just going to land on the spot. I think it should go in the hockey hall of fame and that's that. I mean, it's a bit weird. The Jack Hughes thinks it's bulk. Yes, that the hockey hall of fame has it. It says, why would they have that puck? Right. It's the hockey hall of fame. Like, what do you mean? You scored a historical... Why would they have anything, I guess? I mean, it sort of demonstrates just like a lack of understanding

19:36of what the hockey hall of fame is. Yeah. Like, if you don't know why they would have it. Like, what? Yeah. Why would it be in the hall of fame? Well, it's the golden goal puck and it's the hockey hall of fame. Like, yes. So, I don't know, man. Like, to me, this does... I don't, first of all, I don't really care where the golden goal puck is. Like, this is not a thing that I care that much about. I just found this to be kind of an interesting story because of what Jack Hughes said. It's just like, what? Okay. I guess, like, you know, you did score the goal and you want your dad to keep it in his basement. Like, I suppose that's a take, but not understanding why this is of relevance to the hockey hall of fame and thinking that it's, you know, BS that they have it, that to me is sort of a different thing entirely. You know, as this is this, like an American exceptionalism thing, where you think that the hockey hall of fame

20:37being located in Canada and makes it a Canadian thing and therefore it shouldn't be in that country, I would... If I had to guess, I would think there is an element of that to this. Because he doesn't, you know, to be harsh, doesn't come across as the brightest guy, the points that you make about. It's the hockey, first of all, it's the hockey hall of fame. It's not Canada's hockey hall of fame. It's the hockey hall of fame and it's a significant goal so to give the quote that you don't understand is, like, well, Jack, I mean, take a second to think about it, you know? Honestly. Anyway, that's the thing of it. Like, I think it's one thing to want it back. It's another one to be like, I don't understand why they have it. Like that, there's just, there's two different things going on there that are a little bit strange. Anyway, he hasn't, apparently, according to what Woshinsky posted yesterday, he hasn't found time to reach out to the hall of fame about the puck yet, but he says, at some point, I'll get on it.

But as I mentioned, look like he's very much on the path to recovery. And it's still it warms my heart to know that radio in 2026 can still provide for some not everybody. We have we have our haters. But Connor to know that radio can still reach out and still mean a lot and provide entertainment to someone that's looking on the brighter side of things means a lot. The back and forth won nothing, two won deficits as Nick Suzuki, Josh Anderson, and Mr. Saturday night on a Tuesday in Montreal. Off the Hudson, sharp move on, David Pasternak. Hudson moving in, drops it off. Suzuki shot in fucking score. Coffield puts it home on the doorstep for 40. There he is. Cole Coffield, the first Canadian since Vinnie, Dan Fouce, and 93 94 on the Montreal Canadian speaking of the baseball still had a very good baseball team in this market all the way back in 1993, 1994. Cole Coffield is not an unsung hero. Nick Suzuki, not an unsung hero. And that come from behind Victory 3-2 at the Bell Center corner was, was there a name we haven't spoken about yet? You and I have touched on the first line we talked about. Jacob Dolbesch. Is there someone that you thought stood out?

26:39Give me a MVP unsung guy from last night's win wearing a Canadian sweater? I mean, I brought it up earlier, but Jaden Strubel, coming into the lineup, he made a terrific pinch to keep the puck in before the Gallagher line cycled it around, got it to Hudson on the point and Josh Anderson, who would be maybe another candidate for me. Yeah. But I'll give it to Jaden Strubel, who him and Hudson, it wasn't a perfect night at the office, but I thought there was a stability there. That's been kind of lacking. I really, really like that play from Strubel that led to the game tying goal, so that's my candidate. Strubel is nominated by Conor McCannis Simon. Your perspective, when we talk about unsung heroes and perhaps a reason why the Canadians were able to come from behind a couple of times and ultimately finish off Boston last night. Yeah, my answer was Jaden Strubel as well. Really. I absolutely loved that pitch. The pinch led to a goal, getting pressed up a little bit in the lineup playing with Hudson as well.

27:40I'll keep it on the blue line, Sean. I thought, Kate and Gully, I thought, what was the game that they lost? Whatever game that was, the previous loss against... I thought the blue line was absolutely putrid right across the board. I thought Hudson was bad. I thought Gully was bad. I thought they were all bad on the blue line. They all struggled. If I were to cast my vote, you know who stood out to me? I really like his game lately. Is Alexander Texier. That was on the list too, Sean. You're right about that. He shoots the puck. I mean, he's almost fearless. You know, he drives to the net from different angles consistently. I've really liked his game. It made me think a couple of times last night. It's like, man, just release this guy for purposes of contract termination from St. Louis.

29:41The Canadians found someone that has clearly found a home here in Montreal. Last night around the national hockey league. The tapers moving the puck quickly here. Tape to tape. That's helping them get it into the Vegas zone. Here's Hill turning it over scores. Aiden Hill coughs it up. And the sabers jump on the loose puck. And don't get the goal here to put Buffalo up one. Nothing on the road in Vegas. You know, Simon, every now and again, you know, I like to, you know, draw parallels. I relate a lot to the game of golf. And you know, every now and again, if you're playing with a buddy, maybe you're, you're playing a kind of a for some type matchup. And somebody just runs off their, they're shooting the lights out. You often forget about them. You're told to just forget about them, concentrate on the people closest to you. So as we look at the NHL's eastern conference, like we're not worried about teams. I think past the Ottawa Senators and the overall standings, right? So Washington or the Florida Panthers making a charge. They're more or less forgotten, at least in my mind. What about the top of the division and the Buffalo sabers? Are they worth thinking about in terms of either Montreal trying to catch them or they're

30:43off to the races and you let them run? I remember last night looking at it, Sean, it was a six-point lead. I don't know what number of games played by the Habs or the sabers, but six is a big number. And you also have the time to be lightening right between them. And just got up early this morning. I saw Kutraoff went nuts yesterday in that game. You know what's the crazy thing, Sean? If you ask me where I'd love to see the Canadians finish, it would be seven. I'd like for them to be the first wildcard, and I'd like for them to set up themselves with a seven-game series of games via Carolina Hurley. Yeah, it would be a Metro division opponent there, yeah? Yeah, yeah. So, but no, just keep winning. I don't see the Canadians. They were playing too well, man. They went to Vegas yesterday. They blanked the Golden Knights to nothing. Like they're just listening, man. Since December, you can make a case that they're the best team in the NHL. And if they're not, they're the second best team in the NHL. Probably a little bit coming down to earth, but I don't think it's a six points coming back down to earth. So I'll just say, no, I don't think the Canadians can catch the sabers of the light

31:46and for that top spot in the Atlantic. So it's 90 points for Buffalo 84 for Montreal. The Canadians have a game in hand. The sabers have played 68, Montreal 67, Connor. As we talk about the Bizarre world, forgetting about the teams, you know, no longer chasing one or two wildcard spots. Are the Buffalo sabers at the top end in that conversation about they're off. They're done. We're looking at Tampa Bay now. The sabers are 31, 6 and 2 in their last 39 games. What's I, what? So they, that's the best record in the NHL over that period of time, better than anybody. Yeah. Than the stars, better than the avalanche, obviously, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. You know, I think last year, if we look at the progression of this team, last year was about chasing down a playoff spot. Yeah. This year is about holding off the teams behind them. That to me is the story. It's not about Tampa or Buffalo. It's about Ottawa, Columbus, Detroit, Boston in the rearview mirror and keeping them in the rearview mirror.

32:49That, that to me is the story for the Canadians right now. And it's a, it's a sign of the progression of this team year over year. But that to me is, is the far bigger story than chasing down either Buffalo or Tampa. There's Conor McKenna with Simon Zalikus. Welcome to the three-star quiz. We have a slam data clock hockey hour right around the corner. It begins with Marco Domingo as we dive in a little bit further on the Canadians and Bruins from last night as Montreal moves to Detroit on Thursday, Darren Dregor from Florida. What's going on with the General Manager's meetings in the Sunshine State, the latest as we expand on that with Darren Dregor. I wanted to talk about Jack Hughes, but Conor and I kind of, I think, hit the nail on the head there on that topic. So we're going to adapt on the fly because I want to dive a little bit deeper into a couple of restricted free agents around the Montreal Canadians. And we know one of them. We've spoke about him in the aftermath of that injury on Sunday night. As Kirby Doc takes a hit and Doc is very slow to his feet here.

33:51We got knocked over by Jeffrey VL. Looks like Doc is going to try and stay out. And now he'll make his way back to the Montreal man. So Kirby Doc, as we learned yesterday, Conor is out two to four weeks of the upper body injury, right? That's the extent that we know in terms of the injury and what he's dealing with. So yeah, another batch of games, whether he's going to miss six or whether he's going to miss anywhere between ten and twelve in the worst case scenario here. But we know he's an RFA. The other RFA on tap is Arbor Jacki. I wonder about how you think about both of those players towards the Canadians future. And is there one that has more value, one that you're less reluctant to perhaps not qualify between those two guys? Like you're asking, like if I had to choose... You got to keep qualifying one of them, which one would it be? And looking with the context of looking beyond this year and what they bring to make this team better and get them to a more competitive landscape, I suppose.

34:57I don't know, man. That's a tough one. I definitely don't, nothing jumps front of mine this year on either of them. I mean, I guess the injury history is something that Doc has that Jacki doesn't. And is disheartening as it's been that Jacki hasn't been able to take the bull by the horns to make a belly la buff reference and grab a top six spot here after being given ample opportunity to do so. I'd say it's more disheartening that Kirby Doc is once again dealing with an injury at least not a significant one, but still two to four weeks. It's not nothing. And I don't think any of us are going to be surprised if it ends up being four weeks rather than two based on what's happened and how careful the Canadians have been with this guy in the past. We're rooting for him. I hope it works out, but I guess I'd be more likely to stick with the guy who at least has a better track record of staying healthy.

36:00And the other commonality other than both Jacki and Doc as future RFAs is they have young players at their respective positions that are on the come up. How do you feel about the value in the future with Jacki with Doc? Could you see one of them perhaps getting moved this summer and which one would that be for you? I think it would be Jacki. I think when Kirby Doc gets healthy, it seems like there's always a spot for him in the lineup for a spot to mark. And similarly, we want to put him in and get him going. Whereas Jacki is struggling to be a number six. Sometimes he's a number seven. Rhyme back or angstrom, probably in the summer. The decisions have to be made with those players. Are they regulars as of October? You want to dip into free agency and perhaps get a blue liner that you don't really have on your roster right now. Hudson, Matheson, Gooley, Dobson, all on their deals. So I think it's a little too congested there for Jacki. So if I had to pick between the two, I would still go with Doc sharp.

37:03But the reality is if they're both RFAs. For me, I'd like to see the Canadians move on from both these players. There's a spot for Hage. There's that kid in Russia that won't be here next year. There's free agency as well. There's a trade to be made to upgrade your top six. It's very congested. And I don't really see a spot for either of these two players as of October of this year. That was funny. You talk about hunting for a top six and by all accounts, I mean more and more reporting. Suggested Cains were very much looking for another right shot defenseman. But also in that context, I mean David Rhymebacker is knocking on the door. We've seen Adam make sure him here for 10 games. He's a guy that's probably too good for the American hockey league at this point. So definitely once again, another interesting puzzle for Hughes and Gordon. And the rest of the front office to have to solve here. Good morning. Welcome to March 18th day after St. Patrick's Day official. But it's not really official in the Montreal market until Sunday in the St. Patrick's Day parade.

43:10Passions been unbelievable. And we've heard a lot of players say bigger than a World Series. Bigger than a World Series, Derek Jeter. I think the people who have said it's bigger than the World Series never played in a World Series. Ouch. I don't know if it's true. Yeah, I haven't been following closely enough to say. Yeah. But if you just use Venezuela as an example though, right? You know, as you outlined the political tension and how you feel about the country that you just beat, I don't think that's the wrong perspective. Right? I mean, you're playing for country. Yeah. I mean, Derek Jeter never had an opportunity to play in one of these. So it's as much as he can say that these guys never won a World Series. I mean, he's never won a World Baseball Classic. So I think it does kind of cut both ways and far be it for me. I mean, I don't know. I never played neither of those things. Only in video games. I mean, not even.
