1:01It is Master's Week. It is my favorite week on the calendar. We have a national championship game tonight. I got to tell you, after the sweet 16, after watching Arizona for the first time, I mean the Israel came on the air the next day. We both said Arizona best team in college basketball. I have an update to that report. I watched Michigan for the first time over the weekend. I watched Arizona for the second time over the weekend. Michigan is better. But that's when Seth Davis came on with us last week and said, I think Michigan is going to win it all. If you run back the tape, I said, really, I was the most surprised I've ever been by somebody making a pick. And that's because I thought Arizona was the greatest the most time. They have a chance to be considered one of the greatest college basketball teams in the history of the sport. And you're right. Your response was really. It was as high pitches I get instead they go out and beat Arizona without their best player for most of the game in the axle, who I'm only now learning as Dominican.

2:04I am late on this Michigan team. Let me just say that. Seth Davis said, if you've been paying attention to college basketball for most of the year and most of us haven't, which is why we sound dumb this time of year. He said the most obvious thing on the planet. If you've been paying attention to college basketball the entire year, yeah. The only thing people in my circle have been paying to college basketball, paying attention to college basketball about all season long is where those guys are going to get drafted in one through four. After that, I've heard nothing about what their actual teams do. Yes. We have a softball game that will take place tonight. You do. It's the night of the national championship. Yeah, I'm trying to get out of it. Are you? Yes. It's just so we know, standing rule here, Taylor. If you're getting out of it, I'm getting out of it because I'm only playing because of you. So I'm going to be there, but I'm looking at the schedule. The team that we're playing is 2 and 0. If people need a reminder, we got, we got run ruled within 15 minutes of showing up at our first game.

3:04So the game starts at eight. The national championship is until 8.50, it says it'll probably tip off after nine. I think we're going to be home with plenty of time to spend. Well, we didn't lose the last time because it got rained out. Sure. But this time. Congratulations. This team is 2 and 0, but one of their games was like 10-9. It was like a really barn burner. So I don't know. I think we might have a shot. You guys are 0 and 1, and I feel like you're 0 and 7. Yes. I feel like with between your bi-week and the rain out, I feel like you guys are that bad. So is he was telling me he's 0 for a lifetime. He's never gotten ahead. I mean, how about that? So I was just going to add this minor detail. Our flag football team is now 0 and 2. So Taylor and I as teammates are 0 and 3. But yeah, I was thinking about this, Taylor. And I know we got to get to this UNC thing. What we do. Yes, you feel, right? I was thinking about what I haven't ever done in my life. And two of those things are, get a base hit and softball, because I've only

4:04been up to bat twice in my life. Yes. One time, Graham, that at one time, shook out. And the other thing is, I've never slid in any capacity. I've never slid into a base. I've never slid to avoid. I don't know what tackle or something like that. I've never slid. So the option for me, even being a pinch runner, probably out of the equation. Are you afraid to slide? What's going on there? Yes, because I have no idea how to. And I'm afraid I will tear a ligament if I go feet first. And I'm pretty sure I'll just break two hands if I go feet hands first. You should have a pinch slider. How about that? Also, I don't think anybody's sliding in softball. Well, you have to. I mean, you've got to do what you have to do to win the game, seriously. I mean, I'm sliding. You've got to slide. I mean, I would be okay if nobody else slid. But in my mind, I feel like everybody just knows out of slide. I feel like that's the one thing that separates softball players from other sport recreationally, is their ability to slide. See, Taylor says nobody slides in softball. But I picture Taylor leaving every game covered head to toe with dirt, with eye-black running down his face. Yeah.

5:04That's because there's dirt in the warning track. He's down there, you know, diving for balls. And he's Andrew Jones. So, I mean, he's going after everything. I mean, is there a run rule like can you guys just let him score 10 runs and get the hell out of there tonight? That's what happened in game one. So we don't have to let them do anything. The other team is going to run rules without us even trying. Oh, my God. 877-99 on Fox. The weekend observations are out on Stugatson Company, the show we do before the show. T-Bob joined us as well from Barstool Sports. Taylor has a head basketball coach and it's Mike Malone. The guy everyone expected North Carolina to hire except for the University of North Carolina. So Taylor, how do you feel today because it should be a celebratory day for you. You got a guy who won an NBA championship and yet it seems like yours down is ever on North Carolina. Yeah. So I think that's a, a mutual feeling right now with the entire Carolina fan base where

6:06all this coaching search we heard North Carolina is going to hire somebody with extensive experience at the college level. I'm looking at Mike Malone's resume. He has not coached college basketball since 2001. Wow. Where was he then? Manhattan. What? The Jasper's. Oh, the Jasper's. Yeah. I think the best word to kind of describe this Carolina hiring just feels like settled. Mike Malone was there. Mike Malone's daughter plays on the volleyball team. Mike Malone has been in Chapel Hill and says, you know what? I've dropped my daughter off here a couple of times. This would be a nice place to live. And so that's where Carolina went. That's kind of all you need right now in the NIL age because you have other people almost, you got a GM right? You have people managing the roster. You just need a good ex as an old guy and a guy who gets across to young men. That part I have no idea if Michael Malone can do, but he is one at an NBA level. And instead you would have preferred a guy in Billy Donovan who hasn't won anything at

7:08an NBA level. No. So just to be clear, I didn't want Billy Donovan. I wanted either of Iowa or Iowa states head coaches. Right. Well, you want to Tommy Lloyd to begin with. Tommy Lloyd. And now you no longer just. Yes. Tommy Lloyd or Dusty May. The problem is those two teams just kept on winning. Yeah. You wanted to Tommy or a Dusty get yourself a grown man as a head coach, man, Michael. So then I turned to the Grant Macastlin from Texas tag, Buyington from Vanderbilt. The problem with those guys is their buyouts were reported $10 million. Ben McComb from Iowa's buyout was only $5 million. Ben McComb just flat out refused to interview with North Carolina. That's that's where we're kind of at right now. A guy who lives lifelong in Iowa is now telling a school like North Carolina, he's, he's too good for them. Yeah. So is he, I'm glad you mentioned the NIL aspect because if you are looking for a positive here, it's Mike Malone doesn't have a buyout. So the nine, the $9 million buyout for Tommy Lloyd or the $10 million buyout on Texas

8:12Tech or Vanderbilt's coach, take that money, North Carolina reinvested into the portal and make sure you're giving Mike Malone, Michael, sorry, yes, I've heard plenty, there's one Michael there. He better call himself Mike. Okay, I mean, I've heard 40 times already that Michael Malone doesn't like being called Mike Malone. The reason he doesn't have a buyout is because he didn't have a job, correct. It feels like desperation, I have to be honest. One, well it does. It does. I think one thing, and this could just be out of nowhere, but one of the things that makes a good regular like long term college head coach, he almost has to be a lot about himself, right? He has to be a little bit of look at me because you sort of take all the blame, all the pressure, everything about being a college head coach and you just put it on yourself. You have to be Dan Hurley. Yeah, you have to be Dan Hurley. And Michael Malone has a little bit of that. He's got a little bit of the look at me and him, even to the sideline reporter, Michael

9:14not Mike, like even that's a little bit of look at me. And so I think it suits him well as long as he's got the talent to create some sort of winner. So I've seen some of his interviews and he does seem pretty charismatic and that was something that was kind of a knock on Huber Davis, that Huber Davis didn't really want to take any part in the fundraising aspect of college basketball, which in the NILR is kind of crazy to even say for a head coach, is he, but my worry with Michael Malone is say he does have success at North Carolina. What is stopping him from taking the next NBA job opening because it doesn't, it, exactly, it doesn't really feel like this is a coach who sees his endgame being North Carolina in Chapel Hill, where that could be something different. If you hired somebody who was like this lifelong college coach, I wouldn't be too worried about that just from this standpoint. If he is going to get the next NBA job available, it's because he's done a little something at North Carolina, right? He's not going to come in, pull a bill, bell a check. And then next year, be like, I'm going to go coach the nicks.

10:14No, that's just not going to happen because people will say, OK, you couldn't even do anything over there. Obviously, you had a champion in Denver and they moved away from you. So there are some question marks here. Now, if he comes out and is successful over two or three years, makes the final four, maybe a championship run, then yeah, he will be courted by all the NBA teams, but you as a program can say, hey, look, we got this guy wasn't even really interested in our program. Right. All we need is to hire the right basketball mind this next time again. And we will be successful. And so yeah, we'll just go to show you that Hubert was just not the basketball mind you needed. You just need the right guy. So what he's telling you, Taylor is Mike Malone is a three year stop gap. Congratulations. I mean, he's either going to be that because much longer is his daughter at school. That's a key thing. And by the way, if you're his daughter, do you want dad roaming around campus because I don't? I mean, that gets old quickly and embarrassing. It's a premise of a show. I just started watching a Steve Carell called Rooster on Apple TV, but yes, I wouldn't want that either. I'm looking into the transfer portal if I'm young Miss Malone.

11:17Are you really? Oh, absolutely. I don't like dad following me around. I just found freedom. Look at me. I'm having athletic success. Take it right to the sky. Yeah. Yeah. To be funny if she went to Arizona with Tommy. Do you say we have to be worried about him pulling a bell check? Just for reference, Bill Bell check went four and eight. That phone is dry right now, but he's saying what is he is saying is if Michael Malone has success at North Carolina, he will gardener NBA interest. And so that's a good thing for you. That means your coach and your program had success over the two to three years that he's going to be there. But right. If he doesn't, if he pulls a bell check, which I would go the basketball equivalent of whatever, four and eight, then he won't be getting another job, at least from the NBA. And you'll be stuck with this guy and you'll be like, what am I supposed to do with Michael Malone? So if he wins, he leaves. If he loses, you're stuck with him. Huh.

12:18It's a weird spot for Carolina to be in because again, this move is something that's not being received well by the fan base where you're saying, Hey, North Carolina, we have a Super Bowl winning coach, a multiple time Super Bowl winning coach and now an NBA champion coaching both our football and basketball team. And Carolina fans are like, get both of them out right now, if there's a seven foot Serbian prospect out there that might want to go to college in the United States, University of North Carolina has a heads up on that. Would Carolina fans take you, but Davis back right now? No, no. Okay. So that was something also I made a point to make a note of. Right. Malone is still infinitely times better and upgrade over Hubert Davis. Man, his poor daughter, seriously, I mean, she has to call mom and be like, Mom, what are we doing here? I mean, I don't want dad hanging around campus. I'm trying to figure out, Taylor, has there ever been any been conversation about this?

13:18Because you know, UNC is all about the alums and then sort of taking over and I'll start to think to myself, Hey, are there any UNC alumni in coaching right now that would be a great hire there? Did they even think about Jerry Stackhouse? Because he's been an assistant coach for a little bit now and he might just want to do the NBA thing. But if I'm UNC, I'm intrigued by Jerry Stackhouse. So I don't want to say they didn't consider Jerry Stackhouse because again, the Michael Malone thing kind of came out of completely left field. But I think from my understanding, Stackhouse's time at Vanderbilt went so poorly that it kind of removed his name off the board. But yes, in an ideal world, North Carolina would have hired somebody off of the Roy Williams Dean Smith coaching tree. The problem with that coaching tree right now, the branches are few and barren. It's like West Miller would have been the guy like four seasons ago when he was at UNC Greensboro and he goes to Cincinnati, gets fired from Cincinnati and now he's coaching

14:21UNC Charlotte. It is fairly amazing. This is, this is a job that most people would have quit their jobs in order to be the head coach at North Carolina and North Carolina feels like it went to the, I don't know, sixth or seventh guy on their list and as Taylor pointed out, completely out of left field and that's strange when you consider the history of the North Carolina basketball program. Well, with no context without the North Carolina history and their poll and you say, hey, they got a guy out of left field. They actually got the most qualified guy there is. The man has been, you know, a college coach, he's been an NBA coach. He's been an NBA champion. He's been, you know, an NBA, maybe not runner up, but he's, you know, made the playoffs and succeeded several other times like he's got the most, the, the probably best resume, but in terms of fit, doesn't seem to make my whole. He's also been a guy without a job for two years. He had a lot of that plenty of time to interview for this job. If I ask you guys, who is Carolina's last all star in the NBA?

15:21Do you guys have any guesses there? There are last all stars. I don't care about Carolina, so I want to do, I mean, last Carolina all star. Well, this is a tough one. Psycho T. It's not, it's not Vince, right? No, Vince Carter's last all-star game was in 2007. They had two in 2008, two through 2018. What's their last all-star when they had two in 2008? Felton never made an all-star game in a way. No, I mean, if he did, they should cancel the all-star game. Oh, all right. Who are they? The two all-stars were Antoine Jamison and Rashid Wallace. Those are the last two all-stars from Carolina. The glory it is. God that played in the 90s. Yes. Antoine Jamison. Underrated NBA player. Great score. But you know, he did lead the nuggets to their only NBA championship in 2023. As you mentioned, he doesn't currently have a job. He's been an analyst since he was fired by Denver, by Denver last April.

20:27We'll see how it goes. But the NCAA basketball championship is tonight fellas. Two seed UConn, one seed Michigan tipping off from Indianapolis at 8.50pm. Eastern time. Stu, can I borrow $16,750? Is this binding? If I say yes, I don't know where to go here. Maybe. Maybe. Oh my God. TMZ Sports reports that apparently one gentleman paid $17,000 to attend tonight's game. One ticket. One ticket. So I only need, as I said, $17,750. Okay. In NFL News, Giants all pro defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence has requested a trade. He's not going to be participating in the team's offseason workout program that begins on Tuesday. But if you're a Ravens fan, quarterback Lamar Jackson, he did report to the start of Baltimore's offseason workout program that started today. The NFL network is reporting that Georgia Tech quarterback Haynes King has visits with the Panthers and the Falcons this week. When it comes to baseball, the Mets have placed Juan Soto on the 10-day I.L. with the right calf strain that he suffered Friday against the Giants.

21:29He's expected to be sideline for about two to three weeks. And when it comes to the WNBA, I know you care about the Chicago sky. They traded Angel Reese to the Atlanta Dream for two first round draft picks. Back to you guys. All right, Monty. Stay right there because Dan normally judges the the Mount Rush more Mondays. Really good at judging. Oh, are you really? Yeah. Okay. It doesn't pay anything. I will not send you $17,000. Damn. Okay. Okay. I know. Yeah. I can say the Anya like a mother bleeper. Okay. What do people want us to do? Preview Dan Hurley's offensive scheme or something? Listen, the suit. Enough. That's the preview. Okay. Enough with the suit. I don't care about his suit. I know he's never lost in that suit. And I'm telling you, Yukon. Dangerous tip. So today's- Now is he just stealing takes from AI Colin? We'll get to AI Colin and his Mount Rushmore of whatever the topic is today. So today's topic for Mount Rushmore Monday is players to never win a title.

23:31Ah, Kevin Durant, huh? We're going to go around. We're going to draft. And then months, he's going to decide who wins. Okay. Who's drafting today? Stu, you got first pick in the randomized order. I have second pick. Mikey has third. Izzy has fourth. And then it snakes back around. Wow. So Stu, you get two picks. I mean, it's got to be- I don't care about winning. I mean, I don't- But it's officially, right? Or is it- Are we going by our own personal record books? So, Stu gots could do whatever he wants in the draft. So you could just take whatever Stu gots drafts. And almost- Just- Just judge it however you want. Okay. Okay. Durant, Elijah won. Stop it. So Stu, who's your first pick? All right. I'm going to go with- I'll take it seriously, Taylor. Um, for now. Uh, best player to never win a championship. I guess I'll take Dan Marino. I mean- Now- It's obvious, obvious first answer. If it's not to rant, not Elijah won. It's got to be Marino.

24:31So- Damn it. That was where I was going. I was- You could take KD. I was kind of banking on you doing your joke one. And getting- Dequeed almost immediately. He was expecting me to say, I can't say. If I drafted him not that I'm- Uh, pandering to the judge, I would call him Dan Marino. And I'm just saying- He would have pulled you a homer. That's it. Uh, that's it. Is he's winning? Great. All right. Elijah hasn't chosen yet. So the rest of the matter- He's winning. So Marino off the board. Pickin' two here? Uh-huh. Yeah. I'm going to go Barry Bonds. Yeah. That's the answer. Ah. Bonds. Man. Man. That's a good one. All right. So he has, uh, Bonds. Mikey, who are you going with here? I was so hoping for the number two pick. I was going to take Barry Bonds. Uh, instead, I'm going to take- Randi Moss. Good pick. Uh, that's a great one. That it on my board? It's a strong pick.

25:32Um, it's a pretty good pick. No, it's a name. But you wouldn't say great pick, is he? Oh, no, I wouldn't. Because just in terms of people that you just blindly think of, like, I think of Marino first, and then there's two other names that I think of that I'm shocked that you guys didn't take, and I have to take- Well, I'm going to take both of them in. I just realized it's a snake trap. I'm going Charles Barkley and Barry Sanders. I thought you met KD in a linger one. Charles Barkley and Barry Sanders. I probably- The two outside of Dan Marino that get talked about the most in my circles in terms of people who have never won a championship. Hmm. Mikey, back to you. No, I love the Charles Barkley. When the parr- Barry Sanders was never close. That's why it's- It's- He almost knocked him down. For me, my next pick. I'm going to go with- Probably the greatest hitter of our generation. I'm going to go with Tony Gwinn. Wow. Wow. Made a two- Yeah, he made a two- World Series. Yeah, he's beat him.

26:32Yeah, so I don't consider that great that you brought that up, Mikey, because- Do that. As you said that, I thought to myself, Oh, I don't care how close they got. I think this is just the best player, right? And Barry Sanders- That's fair. Given all of his limitations, meaning he played for Detroit, I was never going to get close. If you didn't take Barry, I was taking. Alright. So I'm going to go to the grid iron here. And I'm going to get- The best running back I've ever seen. Lydany and Tomlinson. L.T. Wow. He was so very much- Oh, L.I. on my list. Okay. Is he- You took Barry Sanders, right? Mm-hmm. Yeah. Mm-hmm. This is dude back-to-back picks for you here. This is where it gets tricky. Mm-hmm. And it really does. I've got some good ones on my list. I mean, I have Carmelone, I have- No, give away too many names. He played with Jordan against Jordan. Oh, God. The problem with- If it's me, this is just while you think this through. If you choose Carmelone, Yeah. Uh, you're choosing a guy who didn't win championships

27:33because of Jordan. But you're not choosing the guys that you don't count. Like, uh- I keep him alive. I mean- I mean, the lives you one never should have won too. It's only because Jordan quit. He really didn't win too. Can I take him a large one here? Yeah. It's a good value. You can. You throw out your Dan Merino pick. Mm-hmm. Oh, no. Oh, by. Because I took it seriously on the front end. I can't make jokes about it now. Okay. Oh. This is very, very tricky. Did anyone say Ted Williams? Wow. He was- Splinter. How about that? He was on my board.
