1:00If you're going to be, you know, kick it old school, Norris. You know, Mike, but don't know that before there was five. Remember, so who else am I missing? So the Norris was Chicago, Minnesota. Detroit Detroit, Toronto. Back in the day when. Yeah. For the top five teams in the division. All made the playoffs. Oh, the good old. 16 to the 21 teams. Now it's outside. I'll tell you hard. I'll tell you what though. We talked about how that lake cold was in a hit. How do I feel? It was. So, so I had a hit on the countdown show. The countdown shows two hours. The way it's been recently, I do the first hour. I'm in like a reporter and then the second hour I'm at the desk. My hit being a reporter. My first hit was outside. I was outside with the crowd. And I could even tell the Chicago crowd had kind of not bargained for this level of cold. Like there were some people dressed that they were like, yeah, because the day before it had been 58, 60 or whatever, they were there like kind of one layered up.

2:03Guys, it was so insane. And then when I went out to start hour two, I did one segment on the desk. And they're like, all right, guys, we're moving in early. We were going to move into the end of that hour. Right. And instead in the next break, they were like, go inside. And then we did the post show inside. Thank God. It was not Chicago, Chicago and still you feel it. They're still doing it. Who wants some good news? Oh, yeah. So I asked my meteorologist, my personal meteorologist this morning. Oh, you have a personal. Yeah. Her name's Alexa. Oh, yeah. Mm-hmm. Okay. Kiss your winner. Okay. And I said, because this morning, leaving forget up, it was in the 20s. Twenty one. Oh, I was called to sworn out outside. And I just said, you know, you reach that point where you walk outside. The garage door is open. I walk out to the garage. I feel it. I turn around. Come back. I'm like, no. And when? Right? Because I didn't want to wear them. I see the coat. I don't want you know what I mean? Like, like, I thought just throw on a vest. I'm good. No. No, not today.

3:03So today brought up. Because we had a weekend that it was a tease, right? Yeah. So I then finally said, Alexa, and I might have used a choice word within it. I said, when are we getting warm weather? And her response was, oh, this is deep. Today will be the last cold day until next winter. That's where we're told. Oh, they said it on that. Danny Baxter told me that this morning. Oh, Danny Baxter. Okay. Well, Alexa told me at 5.45 AM. Hello. I'm going to. Can we try to get confirmation? So it's on the last moment. I'm freezing. I guess the officially the last low freezing of the sea. Hey, Gemini. Is it true that? No, I shouldn't use that. What's the ESPN AI? Let me, let me use the Disney AI. Well, all I'm going to say is this. Are you breaking the rules? Are you ready for 60-degree weather? Yes. That's coming. Just in a couple of days. That's what's so glorious when I was in St. Louis Friday. It was 73 walking to the yard. Don't let you wait for this. I can't wait for this back home. Next week.

5:04Called it. Book it. Mm-hmm. Now you got a little basketball on me last week. Listen, it's a long road trip and all that like that the spurs can be had. Mm-hmm. But I was coming from the angle of this is what the next two. And this is why this fan base has got to be so frustrated. And then it frustrates us because coming off a conversation like what's wrong with this team. They're not a championship team. Yeah. That's why I said no. Book it. They're going to beat the spurs. We knew they were going to beat the box. They beat them up fairly thoroughly. Like they should have. And they got lucky because Janis is coming back tonight. Mm-hmm. Or whenever they're playing the Celtics on over tonight. Yeah. Yeah. So they just missed having to deal with you. I was probably going to beat him anyway. Yeah. And then the spurs. Like, oh my god, the spurs. The spurs are good. Parts of my level row. But we've seen this team all year rise to the against certain teams. And unfortunately sometimes not against other teams. And it just confuses you. It baffles you exactly how good is this team?

6:04Are they inconsistent? Do they play with their food as Peter likes to say? Or does it really just come down to matchups? Because listen, three games against the spurs. Two and one in the one game they blew a lead very easily could have won all three games against the game. So do they just match up well with the spurs and just don't match up well with Detroit? Mm-hmm. That's how it feels. Yeah. So let's come to a consensus here. Okay. Are they mattingly inconsistent? Or are they just, hey, certain teams they just don't match up with? Can I say yes? Meaning both? Answering both is like that's not an either or that's a that's pretty much describing them. And a lot of teams in the NBA don't. Yeah. Like my take away is simply this. Because we already know we know they're she'll even know their floor. It's a wide gap, but we know it. We've seen it. They are 14 and four in their last 18 games. It's amazing how much we amplify the four instead of the 14, isn't it? Yeah.

7:04The four. And I'm, you know, we're all guilty of it because the four are the ones that, you know, you really don't understand like how did you play that poorly against Detroit? But I also, I think matchups are a real thing. And they match up well with this spurs team, which is a really good team. The Nick defense, however, they just know matchups. They play better against them. And that's why if you're a next fan and you find a way to get past Detroit. Boy, if the spurs get out of the West, which is not crazy. Remember, they're, they're four and one against OKC. So the spurs are the same thing as the nicks are right in that matchup. The spurs just are a tough matchup for the thunder. So if that happens, the nicks would be the favorite team in the NBA finals if they meet. That's a fact because of what we've seen this season.

8:06The three, they should be three and all. They were up 19 in the game. They lost. A Julian champ penny went crazy from three point range in that game. You won't see that often. But the nicks play well against the spurs. They would go into that series feeling confident. So now you're watching the West to see matchups. And we're going to see the nicks against OKC now over these next couple of weeks. But now like you're almost rooting for it if you can get out of the East. And the spurs are left standing. You got a good shot at winning an NBA championship. But, but this is what makes it maddening for me is that. Oh, when the nicks lose to Detroit, it's, well, it's just a regular season. And then the nicks really aren't showing Detroit. Detroit, anything Detroit wants it more. But then when the nicks, like on the spurs, can't the reverse be said, I don't buy that. I think that it's a matchup issue. I've watched the spurs want to win every one of these 11 games, including one in Toronto.

9:06They were down 15. Second half could have easily just mailed it in. Game into in Toronto. You're on a long road trip. That's the game they could have mailed in. Didn't battled all the way to the end. So what happened Sunday later in the game? But it was really more than 19 or run. Where once the nicks started making shots, their defense was already good from the start of the game. They just defensively match up well. It is about matchups. But I know I get what you're saying. The whole Detroit thing and we try to downplay it, but I don't, I've told you many times. No, don't take it. You can't just dismiss how much Detroit has dominated you. You can't do it. If nothing else for the fact that in order to get that favorable matchup with someone like San Antonio, I got bad news. You got to be probably through them. Yeah. That's why I said. How are you not? It's a major if. I guess you know, what's the Celtics' record this year? That's a great question. So a world is a world in which the Celtics can take the pistons out for you. And then you get the Celtics and you match up more favorably.

10:07Or even Cleveland. Like, who knows what? But that never doesn't happen. Yeah. But by the way, while I'm looking this up for you, Peter. Thank you. We are done. We are now six games into the 10-game gauntlet. Right. The pistons are three and one against the Celtics. Very well. Okay. Six games in, they are four and two. All right. So now that this is, again, you got at Toronto tomorrow, which is not easy. But you do play well against Toronto. The back-to-back at home against OKC. That's maddening. That you have to do that on the second of a back-to-back coming, you know, coming in late. And then we know Fridays at Denver and then Sundays at Lakers. So at four and two, we were talking five and five, right? Six and four and four and two at four games to go. What are you looking at? Yeah. What do you want? We're not five and five. What do you want now? Right. Well, six and four. Last four, you go two and two. Yeah. There's your six and four. Right. I think you could take six and four. But you're probably, you know, thirsted for more.

11:08You know, based on going out there and beating the spurs the way you did. Now, they caught a break. I thought on Friday because I was, I was situated in a place in St. Louis for dinner where I got to watch most of not all the second half of Pistons' cabs. God bless. Yeah. Boy, the cabs, that slipped through their fingers, right? Get away. That was a game in a way late. Yep. You know, so now you got a game and a half lead on the cabs for that four seats. Well, remember who in the loss? Two in the loss and you own the tiebreaker already. Right. So it's actually three. Now you're getting to where you, you know, third seal pretty good about it. And, and listen, you still have time to be able to make up the ground on Boston. Yeah. You're too back of a lost combo. Boston plays. I believe plays, um, plays right the Greek tonight, right? Yeah. As I said, yes. And, and anticipation of. And, you know, the bucks have played well. They did not play with the next, you know, on Friday. But, you know, you're, you're now rooting for that too. You're now rooting for Boston to take a couple of L's. They have a hard schedule remaining.

12:09They just refuse to lose. And don't, um, don't discount the Raptors because that's a big game tomorrow. Yeah. They're only three back in the lost column of you. So if you were to lose that game tomorrow, now that gets reduced to two. So five all of a sudden comes into play. It'd be very, very interesting. Yeah. But get through the gauntlet as, uh, Alan has, uh, dubbed it. And then you've got a pretty easy schedule. You're loving wins from 50. You should be, um, you should be in good shape from there. So one eight hundred nine one nine three seven seven six. I've never seen. My call screener look like this. Wow. It looks like a quilt. It does look like a quilt or a little argyle. Yes. Once we started letting the fly, they get things started to happen. You probably know this off the top of your head. But how have they played on nationally televised games? It feels like well. Yes. The Saturday night, the rockets game that they came back. Well, that game's second half was a terrific game. Yeah. That was it. That was it. That was it. Yeah. What was prime? Businessdix was prime. Yeah. Yeah. That's what I'm saying. And I'm not, I'm sorry. I'm not going to count that. If MSG's, uh, you know, before you go inside by side. You go inside by, you go inside by side with an app. Yeah. In New York. Yeah. Have you ever had me? Well, when you hear the Yankee fans complain when they're on prime. In New York, you got MSG or an app. The apps lose it. Out. Big. That is a fact. Yeah. I mean, honestly, do a good job. Oh, yeah. Because good broadcasts. I don't know. I swear to God. Listen to the good Lord of love. Sure. I still, I'm sticking with direct TV. Even though they, they punched me in the private.

15:11It's every couple of weeks. All right. The day of that piston game. For whatever reason, I had the reset. The direct TV, which means you got to take down that little door. And then you hit the little red button. And then it tells you in just a few seconds, which ends up being 15 minutes. Oh. So I went to the app to watch the end of the, uh, the piston game. Right. But I'm, but by the time I figured that out, the game had already ended. Oh, boy. So I started watching the second game of the double header. I think it was Celtics and the Warriors maybe. Yeah. That sounds about right. They do a really good job. Yeah. So I'm not knocking the job that prime does. No, no. The talent is fantastic. I'm just saying that it's just if I got a voice between MSG and anything. But especially in app in New York, forget about it. I've done. As I've said, I think we have to come up with, we'll make, we'll be billionaires overnight. The technology to be able to last channel from app to app without having to sign inside

16:11out without having to find the game. You were just watching the ability to do it just as if it's cable. And cable goes right to it and pull me right where you left off. I don't know how that isn't technology by now. I don't know. Because they don't want you to leave the app. They don't want to make it easy for you to leave the app to watch something else. But there's other good things under the app. There has to be a way to consume sports. I have all my apps. I can sign into them on this other platform that I can then last channel. So I can watch three games at once. So I can watch a bunch of things instead of being stuck with this thing. That's frustrating. Right? I get it. We need the technology. Right. And we need to do it. So I'm not showing any disrespect or shade as the kids. Please don't. Too prime. Yeah. But when the next plan ABC and ESPN, they seem to play well. Yeah. At least in recent vintage. Yeah. That is true. Christmas day. And you know, that bodes well too if they were able to get to the finals.

17:11All those games. And ABC. Oh. Yeah. Oh. When did you have to become like kind of pebble up here with that? I don't know. It's like when I do the Southern thing and I don't even realize. His the way he was reading week side. He picked off what three passes that turned into easy dunks. They were all both of them felt like back breaking moments. And he was knocking down his shots. I mean, that's the guy you're looking for. And you know, we love to make these excuses for a lot of the players all the time. Well, you know, he's coming from a place where he was the leading score. Now he's like a third guy. He has to adjust. I mean, you've been here. It's been a year and a half. If you haven't adjusted by now, right? You should be able to just be careful. I mean, I remember saying this when the next got Chris child. Be careful of getting the great player in a bad team. Right. Because it's it's a different world. But he's still really a pain in the neck to watch. Remember, he though was on a good team. He played for the suns. Right. And for the finals.

19:11Yeah. He's been around winning. No, I know. But just the direct like the whole net thing. But there's a little more. There's a little more on his defense here than there has been in the past. And you know, it's it's they're asking a lot of them. But that was a good one. Wendy, what went wrong in this loss? I think they did put some physicality, but not even the most that we've seen, you know. And for some reason, we were somewhat hesitant. I think in general team thing, myself, I was especially hesitant on threes for some reason. I think I was holding a bottle too much when I showed them. I've seen a few more reps. That's it. Yeah. Has it been for some reason? By the way, he did a dunk. The one on Ananobi. Where he jumped his back foot was at the elbow. You know, the elbow is the free throw line and then the lane. Right. Like you've heard of the elbow jump. Of course. Yeah. That's 15 footer from the elbow. He jumped from the elbow and dunked basketball. He didn't take a step after being at the elbow. He jumped from the elbow and dunked.

20:13No, but that's crazy. He's so, he's so long, though. He could lay down at the elbow and his hand down to the net. Yeah. It's the craziest thing. I mean, it wasn't a spectacular dunk. He did dunk. No, it was a little weird. It was more of when I watched the replay go holy crap. Where did he jumped from? That's not human. He's unreal to watch. He's a person, man. Unreal. I've said it before. One of the things to tell the grandkids about. Yeah. Obviously, I'll be coming back the ghost of Christmas past when that happens. But when I come, when I, if I talked to him, I got got to call Nick Spursky. Yeah. Oh, I got to call a one-be-game. Yeah. And I swear to God, he was, he was at the foul line. And the best way to describe it, teleported to the basket. I don't know how he got there. But it wasn't. Well, he just like turned and was there. Yeah. And he said so. Yeah. And tell us, Scott, big arms.

21:13How did that? It's unreal. No, he's crazy. And he moves so well for a, usually somebody that size has some type of coordination issues or rhythm issues with their ability to move it. Jilly, no, he moves so fluidly for someone that size. It's just a rare combination. And it's what makes him fun to watch. And it what tells you, this guy is going to terrorize the league for a long time as long as he stays healthy. That is it. Yeah. I mean, if you were to actually have a full on healthy career, I can basically guarantee you he's a top 10 player all the time. That's Bill Jabbar. It has to be. Like, that's where I'd put him. This year, I'm a top five player. Yeah, you know, his potential, especially as he gets stronger, if he stays healthy, is literally caring. That's what it is. And then saying so. And I heard, I heard Kay bring this up. And I never thought about it. You probably have. Do they have anybody above like six six besides Wimbee? They're not a very big team. Luke Cornette's a seven footer who does a great job off the bench.

22:15But he's off the bat. Like, like, Castle, I think is not all their go. They have a lot of golf. They're all like six six seven. Yeah, they don't have like big time power for it. I think like Harrison Barnes might be like six eight. Yeah, they don't have a lot of that. But their guards are really good. Cornette's over seven. Yeah. And Cornette's good. He played with the Celtics, you remember last year? Yeah. Oh, I remember. Yeah. He's good. That was a really smart pickup. But yeah, they have a ton of talent. They give the thunder fits. He loves going up against Jett Holmgren. Like he loves that matchup. Like if we get that as a playoff series in the second in the west, we'll be lucky to see something like that. We got lots to do today. Coming up at 430, we're going to have an NFL bane. Oh, yeah. All right. We got an ENN at six. Got to talk about the calendars too. Five in a row. And funny, I feel like the pistons are playing how we played last year. Because they only know one intensity. And that was obviously due to the tips. I think this time around I do think it's different. And I feel guys... And I'm not a big cat guy. But I do feel like cat playoff time is going to surprise us. I think he's going to have some big games. Okay. And I think what we have to see with fans is kind of adjust. We have to adjust our thoughts on what cat is. 31:26We talk about the Denver Nuggets and NBA circles like a true contender. Because they have Yoke Itchin. They've already won a championship in recent vintage. But when I watch them, they've got all kinds of flaws. All kinds of flaws. They've actually struggled lately. But because we don't watch them every day, like we watch the mix every day here in New York, we only see flaws. And we want to point to them as reasons why not to believe. But they are a team that very much is in the hunt. And the only thing keeping us from truly believing it is the fact that the one team ahead of them that you worry about is the one team that they have not been able to beat. And that's why I think people get crazy about what happened against the pistons is because they do believe in this team. But what does it matter if there's a team ahead of you in the competition? And they have your number, right? And they've slugged you three times. And then the Cavaloss was magnified because it was like a man. Awful game. Why are you playing it? That they're handing you a win. You wouldn't take it. They're crawling up your back.

32:26So those are the things. I think it's because fans have a reason to believe. They've said a different standard where they freak out now when you lose those types of games. You shouldn't be losing those types of games when you're as good as they are. Blanderson Hooper. You're on ESPN, New York. And after New England. What's up? I just wanted to say, first of all, two points. One, this is what's so maddening about this experience that you go into every game. And you have no idea if they're going to win or lose. They have the ability to win, to play great. They have the ability to just think it up and just play horrible. But when I spoke to you guys last week, one of the things I mentioned was the inconsistencies of the Cavaloss bridges. And I think that was on display this weekend. The Friday night I tweeted at Alan. I think it's half time. I think that it said 77 points at half time. And bridges were like one for two for two points. He finished with like 10 points. Didn't shoot a three. I think it's a fifth, but not a good game.

33:28And then yesterday he dominates 25 points, five steals, hits five three pointers. You never know what you're going to get. So you know, that average is out to 17 and a half points a game or whatever. But there are times where he just completely disappears. And he just refuses to go to the hoop. I don't really think he's going to, at the beginning of the year, I told that I spoke about how he was taking a lot of foul shots, which is something he didn't do a lot last year. I don't even know if he's going to hit 100 at this point this year. Which is crazy when you think about it. He is completely averse to going to the hoop. Now I know he plays every night. And maybe that is something to do with why he plays all the time. Because he doesn't get the bumps and bruises on the offensive. And then a lot of other guys do because he doesn't take it to the rack ever. It does fade away. But yesterday was the example of all the good things that he does bring. The ability to shoot to corner three. The ability to get out and run and play with pace. He was reading well off the ball. I think he's a better off the ball defender than on.

34:28Yeah, he's got a point of a chat. No, not a good point of a deal. You know, you're right. They've got Ana Nobi doing that. And they've got others who can do it now too, including Alvarado. They've got, and if they can get McBride back, that one more guy. And you can then say that leave bridges off the ball as a read and react safety. Rather than the corner who has to cover the wide receiver if you want to use NFL lingo. It's just better sometimes if you can just be the free safety that's reading defenses. And using your instincts and athleticism to do it, he did that. And I thought wonderfully against the spurred.
