I feel like an absolute slobidoodle do. I mean, I'm just a govone. Govone. There you go. That's exactly how to describe what the last hour was like. Speaking of which, I mean, did you see Branchard today? Just living up to his reputation.

2:05Of? Sure. Yeah. One of the great. The first person I saw when I showed up, I got in at one 40. You guys have food? I got it at 140. Just told food coming at 130. We had some other stuff we had to do. I parked. I get it at 140. I look up the first person I see. I see that flannel shirt just hovering over the kitchen counter here. I know it's not good food. So shout out to those guys. If you're ever in that area, swing by. They make the donuts like first thing. They're gone in like an hour because they're so good. Everything's homemade. And it's all homemade. The bread's homemade because that's what makes a sandwich is the bread. And they did a terrific job. Shout out to those guys. They were great. And you would be like, no, that would never happen. Well, it's at that level. So we're going to we're going to we'll talk about that a little bit later on. But since Monica is coming on in your moments, something happened in Miami last night that has like Monica and Alan kind of going at each other. She sent me a text today. I heard about this. You reach a point of the game where you start to say yourself, okay, this has gone beyond a 50 point performance. This has gone to now, you know, he could do it. Like he was at 52 points in the third quarter. It just tells you that this is going off the rails. Now, how did he get there? He had a great first quarter score 31 points. Bam out of bio. He's playing the wizards. One of the worst defensive teams in a league who aren't trying. And the defense was pathetic. But he got off to a great start. When you get 31 in the first quarter, that's when you start to say, okay, this could be a special night. That's take that is big time to what's the number you think of? Like, oh, oh, oh, oh, anything over 25 in the first five in the first gets you thinking. Well, now you're doing the math. Now you know, 50s got to be in play. And then if it if you stay hot, it could get even higher. Second quarter by by half time he was at 43. And now you're like, okay, like can he keep going? Most teams at half time would make

7:23the adjustment of, hey, Bams got 40. Let's let somebody else shoot. We're taking him out of the game. Wizards didn't do that. They started fouling him for some reason. Just kept fouling him. And so he went to the line, making free throws. And we're at 52 points in the third quarter and you think in now something real could happen. The the heat record was 62 LeBron James. He got to that, but there was a lot of time left in the game. They were winning by 28 at one point. That's when you wonder. All right. Get the franchise record. Get him out of the game. Let's keep it moving. The game's over. But they didn't. They left them in. Right. Spote and Eric Spulster a little surprise left them in. So all I said was it stopped being a basketball game and it became a spectacle because it became a spectacle of he was fouled so much. Then the heat would foul to so that he could get more shots. They're giving him the ball in every possession. And they missed the purpose. He missed a free throw. So he could get the rebound. Meaning the heat. It just it

8:28became less about they already knew they were going to win the game. Now it was about let's see how many points we can get our guy. He was jacking up threes. It was no longer a basketball game. That's all I said. Now in context. What I said was so was Wilts 100 point. You did say that. You made it very clear. So don't get this out. It always is. Don't clutch your pearls and tell me about how this is unethical basketball. Because what Wilts did in Hershey, Pennsylvania in 1962, March 2nd, 1962. Break it down is he was playing again. A Nick team that didn't have any centers. They were all hurt. Six eight. God was garden. Six eight. Come on. So he was just scoring it. Will. So they said, this is no good. Let's foul him because he sucks as a free throw shooter. But on this night, he actually made his free throws. So he started just getting points. So what the next two, they started fouling his teammates. So he couldn't score. That's what they did. And so what did the Philadelphia Warriors do? They started fouling the nicks to stop the clock so they can

9:29get more possessions. So Wilts could get to 100. That was all it was about. Yeah. Can he get to 100? And that's what that game was. It was a farce. The problem is there's no video. It was not on television. No one saw it. So there's no history with your eyes to see how much of a farce it was. So no one thinks of that 100 point game as a farce. But it is. It's a bit fugacy. But he did it. So don't tell me that you celebrate Wilts 100. But Bams 83 is suddenly unethical basketball. It was the same thing. But I think both could be true in the sense that this is a meaningless game for most people. But she was just not on my radar. Right. I got to be honest with you. But then the text thread starts going and he's got 52 early in the third and all of a sudden now it's on my radar. Yep. And there's no way the wizards are going to win. The wizards don't want to win. So what else should happen? Honestly, we sometimes forget that we're in the entertainment business. And then I brought this up with Peter during the meeting. I forget the total. But I think there was a Monday night game where Aaron Rogers had like six touchdown passes in the first time.

10:31And the record seven. Right. And he didn't come out for the second half because he was humiliating. I think it was the bears because he owned the bears. And I'm thinking to myself at the time, I'm like, listen, you're getting paid. All right. This isn't college. Nobody's learning any lesson for it. And entertain me clowns. Go out there. Throw 10 touchdown back. Like, why do I have to sacrifice my moment? Because you suck. Like, honestly, so Bams probably thinking, listen, we're winning this game by 50. You're tanking. You don't care. Let me get mine. Well, I mean, really, honestly, we'd all love a hundred point game to be like Jordan's double nickel at the garden. That was a close game. Everybody would love that. You'd love the touchdown record to be broken in over time with a tie game. You know, you love a settler's record of 10 points in a game to happen in a competitive game. Right. But a lot of times it happens in an uncompetitive game. Of course. And rather than like, all right, let's just get through. Let's go through the motions, guys. Let's not entertain our audience. Let's just get out of Dodge here. Or, hey, let's try to do

11:34something that maybe's never been done before. Has it been done in 50 plus years? Give me that. You know, entertain me. Yeah. But put a game that was not on my radar last night. Now all of a sudden on my TV. Yeah. Because it's what's wrong with that. It's fun. I found. But when you say, but when you say, but when you say farce that that sounds like it's negative. It shouldn't have happened. I said, I don't like them. All right. There's one piece. I don't love free throws. Two parts. I don't love. Okay. The free throws are part of it. So the free throws. Well, 43 attempts, I think. Yeah. Yeah. And I did. That was a record, by the way. I could make record attempted. I didn't love. I know this is being that guy a little bit. I didn't love that he like basically waited. He got. He nonsensically through free throws and terrible defense broke Kobe's record and then went and sat. I would have really respected it because he got to 81. If he sat at 81, sat at 81. Yes. There's no need to. I don't think we don't need BAM out of buy the name after World Chamberlain. I don't think we need it.

12:38I'm going to blow your mind. He should have had 100. He should. He easily could. He was 10 for 16 in the first quarter from the floor. 10 for 16. Like tremendous. On fire. Yes. Five of eight from three. For the last three quarters, he was 10 for 27. He missed 17 shots. And I'm not saying like he was well defended. So if he was really read like he was hot to start. But if he was really like on one, he could. That's why the hundred thing and the point I'm trying to make when I said on get up this morning, he really could have gotten a hundred is that we're probably going to see a hundred. This now Don's been saying this for years. Yes. Yeah. I've been pushing back. This now makes me think we're going to see it. And my prediction is maybe before this season ends, we're now going to see someone go for another huge one. Like a 65. I wouldn't be surprised because it reminds people that you can do this. And it's fun. And later, you get the Wizards

13:41defense didn't care. They didn't mind being a complete abomination. And a three point shooter. Remember, bam's not a three point shooter. And he made some right. age seven. Now he could have made a good three point shooter. I think it was seven for 22. That's that's obviously not great. If it was like a three point guy, a guy really can be a three point shooter. I'm telling you, a hundred was on the table. But once the hundo was off the table, wild, once the hundreds off the table, I know, I know this is a lot to ask. I would have respected if he sat at anyone. Yeah, I understand that because there weren't real points at the end. I would not say I push back is this what Kobe's were probably nonsense at the end. No. Kobe wouldn't have told Kobe. Kobe wouldn't have said you should sit. Kobe said, no, keep going. Step on the throw. Get it. He would have the record. He would. Kobe. So if that's what you're about and he, he idolized Kobe, bam did. That's literally what you do. If you sit there, Kobe's disgusted. No, take the record. It's there. Take it. It's almost patronizing him. Right. When you think about it, I could have broke it, but I didn't because you're Kobe. Yeah. But Kobe was 28 from 40s of 46 from the floor. I know. And took I think 28 free throws. It was

14:48just such a better outing. Kobe said he was beat up by Jalen Rose. Like I said, this was not the best shooting night for a guy who scored over 70. Alan Allen outlined it perfectly. But damn hundred point one was who gave. No. So why all of a sudden we pay in respect to Kobe when when will like got a hundred and really shouldn't have. So like all bets are off anyway. And normally when you get that high, a total, it's probably something off the rails. But I do sometimes think because you don't want to do that. You don't want to embarrass that. I believe it in grammar school and high school and maybe even in college. You don't want to disrespect humiliate. There's gamesmanship. But I think when you get to the pros and everybody's getting paid and especially now when the team that's getting killed doesn't care because they've checked out and they're they're trying to tank. Let me get mine, man. David Thompson. What am I ever going to be in this situation again? David Thompson won the scoring championship. On the last day of the season, he and George Gervin went head to head. George Gervin had the early game. He scored like 60 something. He had the lead. Thompson knew he had to get to 71 to win the scoring title.

15:50The game didn't mean anything. So he just now he shot well. But everybody on the team just knew what this deal was. Get him the ball. Let him score. That's all it was. So even though again, the efficiency was there. What were the ethics of the game? It was like that's why I hate this argument. The whole idea of that's ever been. Oh God. Oh, it was a terrible display of basketball. No, it was a show. It was not basketball. If you know, if you want to criticize just the wizard's lackluster defense, that's fine. That's embarrassing. That's bad. But don't you shouldn't you punish them if they're going to play like that? What am I supposed to back? Oh, I don't want to take this layup. That's this is great. No, they're not playing. No, Jessica, there's got to be a positive byproduct of all this meaningless regular season basketball with teams tanking and teams being to where you know what? Every once in a while. That's what school great about sports. It's a Tuesday night. The NBA's not on my radar, right? The nicks aren't playing, right? And you know, I'm watching the Ranger game because I'm a hockey guy. I found it a round different

16:53guy. Islanders come back from three nothing down when the game and over time. I'm watching hockey. NBA's not on my radar. All of a sudden, because of a text, but the NBA's on my radar. And all of a sudden, you know, heat wizards becomes the thing. That's good for basketball. That's what you want to have every once in a while at a nowhere, something special happens. It's the perfect game in baseball or you find out somebody's got six goals in a hockey game, you know, or there's a record that can be broken in the NFL where a meaningless game all of it becomes something you have to watch. Yeah, that's the beauty of sport. That's what you love about sports and that's the idea of why any night anything can happen. It's a great example of it because if I said to you, don't if I said to you out of the top 50 scores in the NBA this season, where would bam out of bio's name be if I told you wouldn't be this guy's going to score 80. You know, far down the list, you're going before you get to him and it's not a knock on him. He's known as a defensive player. He's also an all star in a good player, but he's having a

17:53down year offensively. He has not considered one of the great offensive talents in the game. So the fact that he could have a night like this is the randomness. It is sort of the magic of regular season where you never know what's going to happen. Even when it's a game against the team like the Wizards, you never know. That's what made it fun. That's why I said it was a spectacle. That's not it's not a knock. I mean, you say it's a spectacle. It means I turned off the best game of the night, which was Celtic Spares turned it off and went right over the league. I was like, do I still have an NBA lead path? I'm not kidding. I was like, do I still have any cancel last year started digging around for because you want to see it that much. I was just watching the highlight for fun. Rodgers threw his sixth touchdown. I believe it's Randall Cobb. He's against the Bears, right? Sixteen seconds left. Sixteen seconds left. Oh, yeah, see the NBC logo. Sixteen seconds left in the first half. Forty-two nothing bears. Oh, I mean, Packers. Right. And then he came out. And then he comes out. He's the record is seven.

18:56Yeah. All right. But in that sport, one misstep. And it's like, why was he out there? Right? That is a one. That's the problem. No, here's why he's out there. No, but this is what this would be like. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. He's in the game in the third quarter. I think you know what? And by the way, they drove the field. We're at the five. He just threw an incompletion on third down. And they gave him one chance to tie the record. I know I remember. Yes, that you remember. They'd give him one shot. And that was it. And but here because that's that's the thing. Jake Butler's really struggling. God forbid Rodgers had gotten hurt on that drive to the third. You save that for the people would go. Hey, yeah. Yeah. What are you doing? Why is he out there? You know, why is he out there? Because he's got a chance to do something that nobody has done since what why a title back in in 19 still 59, whatever it was throwing seven touchdown pad. That can't that be worth something and bam and bam in that moment, they're a they're a play in team trying to get into the top six. And they've been playing better lately. Is it a risk? Could he have gotten

20:01hurt? Whatever. You're trying to go for something that is special. Emerald. Emerald Agassi's favorite player, folks. That's right. I just bam. It's like it's like the it's like the cold at June when the cold didn't want the perfect season. So we already locked up one. No, because you don't want everybody wins a championship every year, right? There's no uniqueness in that. But to win a championship on the feed. I think sometimes we just get to reindeer games with stuff, man. Well, everybody's afraid. Oh, don't be afraid. I love it. Again, doesn't I love let's pray a monica, but I love that he stayed in the game. I love that he was being aggressive and trying to get the ball constantly. The only thing I don't love about it. And this isn't one person to blame. It's more the wizards are just a disgrace to sports. As I've argued, I have the worst demon all men and bam and he's the fouling in the fowlings and bad. But I should have to sacrifice sacrifice. My night. Bam should have to sacrifice his moment, right? Just because the wizards can't figure out what they're doing. Go for it. What I said, Monica, he keeps track of everybody who watches his every move because I can't on one hand. Stop. No, sorry. Not your wife. Yeah. That's the hard part. All right. No, you know what? I hear what you're saying now, Monica. Just the fact that he was like, well, he could have had a hundred. My, am I get off my lawn that I felt like I was super happy. I think it's a really cool thing. I love when these point moments happen. But like there's a little part of me that wished he finished with 81 and not 83. No. So we were not in position to actually watch in real time, Rosenberg, right? And so I was with a couple of friends who were going to dinner. So we were tracking on our phones and we actually thought at 81, he got pulled. So we were like, cool, like the record stands for Kobe, like it stays tied, whatever, whatever. And then we're watching. We're like, oh, no, he's back 83. So no, I don't think I think that in terms of obviously the unfortunate ending in terms of Kobe no longer being with us. Like I had that thought as well.

25:12So no, I'm with you on that one. But I feel like you're almost patronizing Kobe. Like I could break it, but I'm not because of you. I would think of Kobe were alive watching. Be like, go ahead, break him. Show me something. Do it. That is also true. I'll give you that. Both are true. My first thought. Yeah. No, and I think 83 is fine. I'm sure that it will always be associated with Kobe. And that's beautiful. But my first initial thought was like, I think I'm going to let it stand for Kobe. And that's fine because clearly, y'all at that point, you run up the score. You have to be in at all. You know what I'm saying? Like whatever at that point. So it's cool. Not cool. Alright. So what's what happened in LA? I mean, two, two forgettable days in LA. You were there, Monica. You called the Clipper game with Mike on MSG. What are we seeing from this team? 38 turnovers. What do we see? You know, I the turnovers, I just, I'm going to talk it up to a little bit of a lack of focus on their part. But the thing on that is really haunting me as we are navigating the rest of this season is are you guys really that reliant on the three point line? And I think those two games

26:14showed me. And now granted, there's two things to keep in mind. With the Lakers, LeBron didn't play, which by all the numbers in the metrics actually makes them better at some of the facing. And I actually thought that the Lakers went with defense. They leaned in on what their team could do defensively. And Jared Vanderbilt, if he's hoping that like he's a all in be a defensive caliber kind of guy, if he's healthy and has the room to run, who else out there impressed me? Rory Hatchermore could be in that if he wanted to in terms of the length that he has. Marcus Martin, we already know he's the only guard that we're not only, but one of few guards that has come up with that defensive player of the year. So I thought it was one of the better defensive performances from the Lakers. And it just posed problems for the mix because in the two games, y'all, I could probably count on my one hand. The effect, well, I'll take out cat in the second game because he was fantastic. But from the guard position, the effective amount of times you got dribble penetration that was able to create an imbalance on the floor to make anything easy, like nothing was easy in the last two games. And I think for me, it's becoming a little bit concerning because if they cannot hit three, they do not space the floor

27:17and they cannot come up with easy baskets and not to mean it's problematic when you get to a series. All right. So how do you clean that up when now you're kind of going through the surface part of your schedule? So like how do I how do I determine what's fool's gold and what's not just how they play against the three or four really good teams they have left on their schedule? Or can I look at something that I can say they're cleaning it up or do I just chalk it up to hey, well, two to who cares? For me, and I haven't run this by anybody because usually I can run my thoughts by somebody that actually is watching the tape night and the night out in terms of the way the coaches look at it. I would like to see smarter sprays personally because I think they have this has been drilled into them. And so I was getting two feet in the paint and finding a guy on the perimeter, which is fine. But to me, they have build defenses out by not even looking at the rim. And because they don't get any easy baskets like you I need a little bit more of a strategy than just to make it spray. Like sometimes if a guy is at the rim, let me see what it

28:18looks like. Even if you get blocked and we find out that it's not your strength, but let me see what it is what it looks like. I think OGN Nobody is a guy that has done better of getting to the rim and getting to the free throw line as it lay. Landry Shamlin a couple times is there, but I don't even think he's looking at the rim. He's so focused on that extra pass back to the perimeter. So to me in this soft stretch, can you get to the rim at all and create some easy basket? Now will it be as efficient potentially when it ramps back up in terms of competition? I will see, but I would like to see them find ways to create some easy ones because everything is just so hard right now. So you mentioned Cat. That was a hell of a game in LA. Clippers I should say. But what I've noticed since the All-Star break is the three is a drop in for him now. He's a high 40% three point shooter now on the other side of the break. Remember before the break, that was always an issue for him. What do we see in there? Has he found a rhythm? Has he figured something out? What do you see in from him? We probably need to shut down for two weeks. It's two weeks down. Do you need an all-star game? How about this? Do you really need an all-star game? You want something crazy? We just talked about lessening the season. Good way to warm it up in an Olympic year. You go to an Olympic year. We're doing 140 games.
