Honoring Ashley: A Birthday Tribute

The 10-year-old was killed in 2018 near Katzebue, Alaska by a relative who received a 99-year prison sentence. Her killer won't be eligible for release until February 12, 2010. Ashley's family has since left Katzebue for better opportunities and education for her siblings. Her father, Scottie Barr, reflects on how quickly 8 years have passed and imagines her as a high school senior graduating this year. He plans to reserve a spot at the ceremony with her picture and a posthumous diploma.
