Historic School Becomes Family Homes

Built in 1876 by the Midland Railways Company, the former Church Hill School served local kids until it closed in 1982. Brock's Toe Burrill Council just approved Greyhouse Development's plan for one four bedroom house and two three bedroom ones. The building started as a mixed elementary school for the growing Victorian community, later becoming an all-boys junior school. After shutting down, it briefly extended nearby Brock's Toe College before sitting empty for years. Locals are breathing a sigh of relief over the news. Roy Plum, the 85-year-old chairman of the Kimberly Historical Society, attended the school back in 1948. He calls it a smart move that keeps the structure useful instead of letting a rot or face demolition. Brock's promise to keep changes minimal outside, preserving the building's original scale and key features.
