Hero Pilot's Tragic Death in Iraq

U.S. Air Force major John Alex Cleaner, an Alabama native, and Auburn University graduate, died last week when his KC-135 playing crashed in. Western Erractoring Operation Epic Fury, he was one of six airmen killed while supporting the mission. Cleaner served eight years with the 99th air refueling squadron of the 117th air refueling based in Birmingham. Before deploying, he prepared frozen meals for his wife Livy to ease her daily routine. His family describes him as patient, kind, and always putting others first, especially his loved ones. He and Livy raised three young children, including seven-month-old twins, and Trustville, building a strong family life together. Family members were called Cleaner as a true servant leader, who scanned rooms for ways to help without being asked, jumping in to meet needs quietly and selflessly. Now, the family grapples with deep grief, leaning on their faith while mourning the loss of their hero and the close partnership he shared
