0:00Hey guys, I'm Kira, and today you'll learn how to pronounce the word Zdiś or here. In the US, some people say X, but other people say X. The high E vowel is what we need for the Y in this word. Let's work on just the beginning of this syllable, starting with good Russian default mouth position. Just lightly forward, tip of the tongue behind the bottom teeth, lips rounded and protruded. Zdi. Zdi. Both the Z and the D are soft, which means we should use more air than we would in English, and we should let it buzz through the narrow passageway between our tongue and the roof of our mouth. Zdi. Zdi. Native speakers of English tend to retract our tongue and anchor the sides of it against our upper moulders. So this syllable can sound more like Zdi, but we can sound much more Russian by allowing the sides of the tongue to come away from the upper moulders and move further forward.
1:01Not Zdi, but draw the tongue, lips. Zdi. Zdi. Finally, the S is soft, so the tongue is high close to where it is for the vowel E, not S, but S. Now the whole thing, draw tongue, lips. Zdi. Zdi.
