The morning after the whole city game recording is, we've got tons of questions about a few things that happened during the match, some playing performances, I've impressed some people and a few questions about the implications of some of the performances I've got a few people here who have some of the answers, they might not be right ones, but we will see if they are in that and first of all we'll say a good morning Chris, we're in the last 16. The last 16 in the cup was in still in three cup competitions. It's absolutely ridiculous isn't it? I like this getting a five year list. It's vegan.

1:00Yeah, that's it with you know, cup favour starts in early September now. Excellent and we've also got Andrew with us, Andrew, are you suffering from cup favour this morning? Terribly, terribly Martin. It's just come over. I'm waiting for the club to release a DVD for like our first Carabal Cup win in. What was it Chris? I think you had the stats a couple of days ago. It was October 2021 against Kibya, so almost five years, a month short of five years. So yeah, I was genuinely pleased, but yeah, it's mad that we've had to wait this long to win a game in that competition. It is, yeah, there were only a few games there before we hit Wembley in the Carabal Cup, so you know there's lots of positives. We've also got Calvin with us this morning, how are you, Helvin? Good morning, good morning, good morning.

2:01I came out of the ground last night hoping that we were on the start of the journey of laying the course of 1985. So, I was thinking just there when you said that, I mean, actually if you can, I bet you could probably count on both hands, maybe even one hand. I don't know, you might be able to tell them wrong. How many times have actually reached the last 16 in the week? Well obviously we've got to the final, didn't we, under, oh yeah, so we got Chelsea in the quarters and we can't remember who we've been around before that. There's commentary, I always think of the commentary David Speedy game in the park and the rector that followed the Highfield road where Steve Livingstone I presume that was exhausting. It can't be, it can't be many though. I mean, you know, you were talking about our Cup record being awful Andrew, but just in general in the league cup, we've always been a bit crappin' it.

3:03The only, the only extended road that we haven't touched on already that springs to mind is the semi-finals under Paper-Ede. Yeah, but yeah, I'll take your point Chris, we probably haven't got this far too many times, haven't got this far. We're talking about dinner there, one game. One game. Well, it was nice to see the club take it relatively serious, I think it's probably a reflection of the squad rather than anything else that we saw last night, but we've got a lot of questions, a lot about some of the players who played last night and some of the players who impressed last night. So we'll kick off with a question from, I don't think he's a relative of yours, Kelvin, is he Jason? Your Jason's e-mail didn't Kelvin? Jason's beat me. Remember? You're okay. No, I don't know him, but he's very, very welcome. I'm sure he's a good looking chap.

4:03Jason said, what are your views on the Taliban situation? Would you say it's fair, it's a possible shootout between him and Angul, especially if we progress in Europe and get the option to make a change to the squad? Got another question from the adventurers of Mr and Mrs. Icedead. Can he find a way to squeeze Taliban into the Europa squad and who makes way? I don't think it's as big a question as Taliban or Angul. And it was an interesting, a nice reminder, wasn't it? Well, in terms of Steve and Talbi's qualities, Kelvin last night, I thought he played exceptionally well as being some talk of him moving overseas. I think there was a link just earlier in the day before the whole game that he was on the bird, you go somewhere and then all of a sudden the club said, no, he's not and he's going to play and he's playing in this, more central position. by Dori, he looked good last night. I think it's for the best I've seen in Play for a little while and it was just nice to see him get a chance and he obviously

5:05captured off with a lovely lovely golden knee. It was an interesting experiment. I think playing them inside there in the inside forward position as I like to call it. I thought I thought he played really well. I thought he looked lively. The speed which he, you know, when he's got that gas, when all that if you show him a bit of grass, you burn the grass up, you know, and he took these go really, really well because he sometimes been in them positions and not taken the opportunity. I think the word used, I heard most used about it was audacious and it certainly was. It was a crack in crack and finish for him and to do that at peace, it's very hard to caress the ball into the goal like that when you're going as fast as he was as he was going, you know, so it was a crack and pieces skill. I thought he cleared really well.

6:10I thought he sent a signal, didn't he? He said, I'm still here and I'm still the player. There's a lot of us have spoken about him and he's very popular in the crowd, I think, tell me there's a lot of people feel that there's a really good player in there. He's still a young lad, he's 21 years old, you know. He's got a lot of experience though when you start looking at what he's been up to, because certainly he's games in Europe for Bruges. For Gruges Club Bruges, what was it? 12 games, two goals, something good actually, to have that. The only question I've got, maybe you guys might know the answer to it, to that given the question in the Europe squad, can we put him into the squad because of his age? Would he not make the B list? He's only 21,

7:12is there, what's the criteria on how long you have to be with the club? I think there is some criteria, I know you're either the part of the one drew, and last week with Garland and Martin, or explain all of the rules and went through it all, I'm not sure. You are now by being in that podcast, you are now the expert on Europe, you're over the things squad. I enjoyed that part at the time and my was really good, but I'm suddenly regretting being on it. I'm going to be asking, being asked all the questions, I think, sadly, Kelbin, I can't remember why, but I don't think he would be eligible for the B squad. I think it is to be involved. It's going to be the A squad. Sorry, I was just going to, yeah, I was sorry, Andrew, cutting you off in your frame. I don't like cutting the next time. I'm worried about that. Yes, the A squad,

8:15I don't think we filled every place in that squad, they were the A squad, so I don't know whether there's a little bit of room in the maneuver there. I think we've used too many, we've got the limit in terms of bomb plays. I don't know if the Aachen's Mundel, of course, Mundel's injury wouldn't impact it, would it? Yeah, well, I think if he could have, I think as soon as Mundel got injured, if there was a possibility that was doable, you would have probably just heard a story where Talbi went straight into the squad. I'm surprised though, because the Aachen's going to be out for two months, isn't he? In any case, we're back to fitness. I was surprised that maybe Talbi doesn't come into him. Yeah, I don't know what the rules are on replacements, whether you name your squad and that's it, injuries, dependent on that. We already made the squad already aware

9:23of DR as absence. I can't, I'm not sure. You might be right, you might be right, you might be after the pool game. Yeah, I might listen to that pod again. I just got distracted from it anywhere from behind Kelvin, because I thought it was the guy to clean the swimming pool, but he's doing the wonders. He's clean, he tells the Tchaikovian. Kelvin, to all of his staff wear, wear a suit in the pool, or they'll have to wear the role. It's a long day out. It's a dress downed here to DR Andrews, so yeah, he's allowed the minions to wear what they want today. What are the people doing this? They're not watching. Yeah, for those of you listening, not watching Kelvin, wind or cleaner or somebody has arrived behind him and he's doing a fine job. I can hardly recommend if anybody needs services like lasting then just for Kelvin, I'm sure you'll get a little bit of commission and put you in touch.

10:26And James seems to send us any comments about his techniques by the way, if he's looking like he's good at what he does, does he? He's doing it the wrong way or whatever, you know, sticking in the comments. It's brilliant. I'll get you back on track. James seemed to have these performance against Hull. I thought he was really good. Nigel Porton asked the question, is he a better number 10 than a winner? And you know, the question that Adam had asked before, Calabuea and Goulot, obviously, two people who played a lot on the left wing, will be rock barner in him, presume these going to be first chose on the left wing more often than not. Means there's a few players battling out for the right hand side, but has Calabue given a registered risk something they think out there, Andrews, his performance through the middle. That's your, if the fear needs a rest or somebody needs a stepping foot for ends, especially with Diara out, Calabuea is an option and maybe nobody is considered an option for eyes, certainly not considered the best. Well, like you, it wasn't something I knew he could do.

11:30Yeah, I don't necessarily think the question is, is it Calabuea or Angoulou? Because Angoulou at the moment does appear to be Lebris's boy, you know, he seems to like him at the moment. But yeah, I'd said a couple of times in the final days of the transfer window, well, haven't really gotten many options in terms of giving Lefay back up. And on that evidence, Calabuea could be somebody who just helps with the workload, takes a bit of strain on him. He was really good. I think he, I think that position helps him more because he's got license to pop up in wherever he wants in the attacking third. But he's not necessarily expected to do the level of defensive work. And what we're led to believe is it's going backwards. It's the defensive side of the game that he isn't quite hitting yet. And that's why he's been in and out

12:36of the team. So for him to be able to come along and show that he can perform a different role is good for him. It's good for the club. Lebris afterwards spoke quite well of him. There was no bad blood. There was no sort of like, oh, well, he could have potentially moved. So we've now given up on him. His attitude was Talbi is now back in the squad and is going to be considered as a player who was part of the group and who we're going to who we're going to use. It's not like he's being sent to the bomb squad. So I think that's one of the biggest positives of the night. Knowing that, knowing that this is a role that Talbi can, can perform if we need him to. No, it's certainly very promising and it was a sight that Talbi that I hadn't expected to see playing that central role. No, even a few points where he was coming deep and picking up all the bottom of the fence on the half turn to then settle and attacking progress. You know,

13:39like the players, we can't use the say ends or do it. To say Talbi, I thought it was really impressive and I think he's shown he's got a, and maybe an extra strength was more that we didn't think he has. Yeah, I mean, just to give my two pensworth on Talbi, I mean, in one sense, I don't want to get carried away because in the same way we don't get carried away when Sunlen get beat, you know, we were not kind of hit and rock bottom and everything's a disaster and everything's going all wrong. You know, it's one performance and it was a really good performance so it's all positive. But I don't think anybody including Regis LeBris is going to make any kind of decisions on where Talbi is going to play permanently moving forward. I think it's wherever we need him to play and I think all those forward players are going to be like that because we've again, time and time again, LeBris and Gisalfi have talked about flexibility in those front positions. That players can switch. Soon as Fafana signed and everyone went, oh, another

14:41left-winger and Gisalfi was like, no, hang on a minute, we'll go players out and play right and left, players out and play in the middle. And I don't think they see any of these players. I don't think they're both Fafana is a left-sided player permanently. I don't think I fully expect to see Angulo on the right hand side later on this season because I think he's going to be more effective beating. He's man down the right hand side. But now, with the person now who we've got at the moment, he's working on that left hand side. But I reckon we'll see him on that right hand side. It's going to be the same with all of those front players. They're all going to mix it much. The other thing I cause into it is what has happened this summer. I thought Talbi last season, especially in the early part of the season, looked a bit like a deer in the head like lumps, you know, that he was always going back. He was never looking to beat his man. He was never looking to be positive. He was always playing the percentages. And so he was never given the ball away. He was never doing anything bad. But at the same time, he never really did anything spectacular

15:42and good all that often. We go back to the Chelsea game and obviously that was a huge moment for him. And I think everyone was expecting him to kick on. Not sure he did. So all in that season, he looked like he was when he, when every player, he looked like he played within himself. What's happened this summer? I think where the club have just went, well, you can go. There's a bit there you can leave. I think he took to the pitch and he lost all those nerves. He thought, well, you know, I'm kind of not really in the picture for the first team. So I can just go out and play. There was no pressure on him to really do anything because, you know, is he fighting to get back in? Is he not? Is it? Does moves on the table? He just looked so relaxed. The first minute, the ball came in. It was in the central position, Martin, just like you said. And he tried a little, he did a lovely little flick like behind him. So behind, I think, to Isador. And he was playing little neat one, too. But he was playing with confidence. Like the shackles are being taken off him, just gone play. Whereas I think last season, our first season in the Premier League, 2020,

16:47year old Glad who came in, chucked him in the team, he was straight in that first 11. And I think he just, the nerves got all my thing early on. And now he's shown what he can do. He's shown that the player that he is. I don't think it's news to anyone that he is a player. I think we all knew he had something. We, I don't think any Suniland fan last season after his performance has thought that he tell me he's no good, you know, get him out of this summer. Nobody was thinking that. Everyone was thinking, now let's see what Talibu can do any second season. And I think it was maybe you know, a conversation where the players coming in and Talibu just thinking, I've got these offers coming in, maybe a bit more money for some of the offers that were coming in. Certainly, probably more first team football. And at the age he's out, he thought, do I want to play another 15, 20 games here? Maybe half of those from the bench. Or do I go and get first team football? And I think now with the bristles comments after the game saying, you know, now it's clear he

17:48wants to stay with us and happy to have him in the squad. And we all think great, another option, another attack and option, whether it's on the right, on the left or as we're saying behind a striker. Again, you know, this sort of game, we could all tell it was all a strange game, you know, the crowds, quiet, half empty stadiums always have an impact on on players in the pace of the game in the tempo or the game. But we all know there's a player there. And what I will say where I was really impressed, Kelvin, you kind of touched on how quick he was. But so many players, you know, when you see a player go clean through on goal in behind a defense and you can see defenders catching them up. Not once did you think the defender was going to get out when the European chance age, he was almost pulling away from the defenders. He's so quick and that shows actually when you're in control of the football and you can sprint quicker than other people, it shows actually how good you are on the ball and how much control you are, you know, in possession. And yeah, he's finishing that. It's no kind of need to say anything about his finish because

18:52everyone's said how fantastic it was. But yeah, I mean, I'm all for it. And if he's lost a bit of these nerves and he's positive in games like he was. And if you're in the manager, you're talking around, you're sitting them down, going, you know, you're good enough to get the ball, turn and go with people and scare the life out of them. So do it. You know, take, if you lose it, you know, try and win it back. It's a simple, you know, that's a golden rule of being an attack and player. But don't be scared to lose it. Go out players because he's got the skill to do it. So yeah, I think I'm all for being back in the fall. There's two bits in there. I think one of the things which stood out to me when you went clean through, often you'll see players go clean through like that. And then they'll just pull up a little bit and look around. And by the time they pulled up a little bit and had a look around, the defenders made up the x-ray yards. And all of a sudden that move creates sound. He did not have any of the thought in his mind. Apart from I'm going to go all year. I think nobody's catching up. But you've seen how are your other players have

19:55seen go through and they'll just check back and have a quick look over the shoulder. And he was just so single minded. Now I think it's really interesting to talk Chris about his performance last season because there was a couple of factors come into it, isn't it? I remember when we signed them. And the comment was really thought, yeah, he'd go to the Premier League, bought it to season too early from the Premier League. So you'll read kind of almost given the years development that other clubs might have left him to have elsewhere. And you know, everyone, the common consensus was he needed another season before you'd ready to play in the Premier League every week. So maybe, you know, he is now ready to play in the Premier League every week. Chuck the fact in that in the first half of the season, he'd only be human if part of his mind was on the upper combinations. Not one to get injured, one to play in that tournament, one to impress enough to get in the squad. Second half of the season, he's only going to be human if a little bit of his mind's on the will cup. So you've got all these factors coming into play. But I just think the really nice thing

21:00to come out of the game against whole is that, you know, in which words, it doesn't happen, but if the day has to come off us, I think he has to come off previously, you looked at the bench, you go, well, who can come on in that central role? And you might have thought one, two, please, good. Now we'll go, well, Tarlby can come on there. And I don't think that thought would have occurred. Certainly to us might have occurred to the brisk because he's seen people in training and seen players in different positions, but it just gives you a little bit of confidence as he can come on and affect the game because, you know, whole side, although the may is what seven or eight changes, there were mostly players who have signed this summer to come in and to a Premier League football. So, you know, playing against a good lineup, it didn't, I just thought it was nice. It was nice to think that come out when that story come out of the game, I thought it just all these redemption arc, if you, if it needs a redemption arc, it's too many to us. But a little redemption arc coming right there will move on now to another player who impressed everyone I reckon yesterday.

22:06Well, I'll choose life because it's going out on Thursday post. Heels a hoker. In Andrew, you know, we don't want to get carried away, but let's get carried away. Jealous of Hoker's debut was, it was up there, wasn't it, in terms of, you know, coming out the pitch, not having any nerves, playing the game, playing your game, he did fantastic, Billy said, are we dropping jacket for a hoker? Rob Ellison Davidson said, this little experience in what performance watered gem Nigel said, can't a hoker play a role in the Premier League and Europa League this season? And right now, Evans is asked, is a hoker your favorite new player? So, you know, he's impressed with, wasn't he? He did. And yeah, let's not get carried away, but yeah, we can sell shotgun out. This loves, this loves the new, the new start, I think it's, it's fair, one of the points there about, you know, this little experience, and yet he just looked comfortable. He didn't, you know, how you said, Chris, about Talby,

23:11a point could look a bit like a rabbit in the headlights. I never got that sense from him. Had somebody, a neutral being there and somebody said, oh, he's, he's got plenty of games under his belt, you would have believed it. He was, he was good. I think towards the end, he may be tired, ever so slightly, which is, you know, it's understandable, but would certainly in the first half of the game, he was reading the game well, he was mopping things all. And he had a nice bit of footwork on him as well. There was a couple of little tight situations he was in and he got himself out of them and a bit like would Talby and me not necessarily know and he could perform that ten rule. I'd not read anything about this new lad. Being able to do that, I thought he was just a, not just because it's perfectly fine to be this. I thought he was more your powerhouse. Whereas he should want a two little smart touches. And yeah, it was against a, a changed team

24:20in the cup, but that was a sign for everybody. And he, he still, he still stood out. And on that basis, if somebody was to say to me that he is going to get minutes in the coming weeks, I wouldn't be scared about that. I'd be keen to see if he could build on it and take those next few steps. Young lad in a new country, he's only just got here. I think, think given all of that for him, we've looked that composed suggests, yeah, we, we do have something on our hands here and and I can see why the club would, would came to bring him in. And Chris, as far as debut's go, it's not a bad first impression for him to, the maker, although he, he looked comfortable on the ball, he almost scored with a head and he shows him. He quite fancy the long range, didn't he? Then he had a long range sliding tackle as well, which he slid about 25 yards and missed somebody, which could be an infecting watch from him in the future. But it was, it was, it was, it was, you

25:25were going through there, wasn't it? It was like tick, the tackle tick, you know, the header tick, passing the ball tick. And he's, for 20 year old, man, he's a, he's a unit as well as thinking, I mean, what's six foot, what was he six foot three or something like that six foot full? Yeah, six foot. But he loves a tackle, he loves getting stuck in the, I mean, look, it was, it was not a stand-bargay, you know what I mean, but it was, I mean, he wasn't kind of doing acrobatics on the goal line and all that sort of stuff, but no, I mean, especially when all the talks being about who we wanted that sent him a fill player and again, everybody was looking at the transfer fee going, oh, well, 10 million. So what is this sign? And is it one for next season? Does he get a handful of games? He comes into it to make his debut and he looks like, he looks like he was a player who was there last season. He was coming to the defend, but the thing is, you know, the whole nine and, uh, or nine and I'll do it at the back. He was, he was running up to them,

26:29going, give us it then, and they were just giving them the ball. And then he was turning and doing anything like he was, you know, that they had trusted them. He'd been there last season. And the nice thing, we can talk about all of the, those kind of impact things like you said Martin, and he does look like he could be, you know, a bit of a weapon in the air mind of corners and three kicks and things, but the thing that I liked was he kept ticking things over. He was always available. You know, he was, he was, he was taking a ball from one side and he was, he was running over to one side where the ball was taking the ball, turning, then he was switching the play, but he was just taking us over and moving, uh, whole around and to do that on your debut, to have the nose to take the ball and move the opposition around when, you know, you're not used to playing with your teammates and all this sort of stuff. But look again, we're not going to get carried away, league, hook, uh, the temple. Let's just say it wasn't high, um, when we compare it, it was standard Premier League game. So it'll be interesting to see when, you know, the,

27:29the tackles really are going in and the temple, uh, you know, get as high as the normal Premier League game, but, uh, at the moment for 10 million, he looks an absolute bargain, doesn't he? Oh, he does. And I think it would be so easy for a lad like that, at that age, with that, lack of experience, what was that? It was a fifth or six senior start. Does it be talking about when you've been, last two years, a first-seam football? It would be so easy for that lad to come on the pitch and just think, I'm not going to make mistake. I was, yeah, safe. I'm going to not show, I'm not going to put myself in the position where I can lose the ball or be in trouble with it. But he actually took, he took command of that midfield in control. And yeah, look, it wasn't the same temple or intensity as the Premier League game. But it wasn't as if we were playing a league two side in the cup, we were playing another Premier League side. Now, look the way that way. You referenced the fee, 10 million pound fee, turning it was out. We only spent 10 million. I think that changed. If we were spending any money,

28:31five or six years ago, I was like, oh, this side must be good. It would pay a 10 million pound with two up there. Make me up in the juice. So, do you see the 22-wil griggs, isn't it? Oh, that's right. You see, if you, if you dare, use Calvin Verdes, is that rank? How do you understand the tools? You know, you got to mention before, it was, it was Wagner Esk. So it was, and what a, what a crack in, crack in. Sure, he put on, he's sure, he's talent, I thought, really, really well. Whoever spotted him, you know, I know it's just one game, but whoever spotted him, he spotted a really good player. He looked a good player, and he looked a commandant player as well. And your dad, right, that point about all the reach and all nine, you know, demand and the ball of them. And for all the, you might watch

29:37the episode highlights to be fair too. Harsh foot true, Martin, Harsh foot true. Yeah, I've got to think I thought it was a crack in performance from him. The, oddly enough, on, I think on Saturday, I watched the game with some fellow fans, and we were talking about our hooker. And, you know, I did venture the view that, I don't care what you say, I heard myself saying, 10 million pound for a young man that's only played four games is ridiculous in this day and age. I came away last night, and I could see one of the lads sitting at the back of the bus. Let's go and up, and I'll say, I made it, got that role. And so I did, you know, it's a bargain, it's a bargain. So it was, it was, I, he was everything

30:42that you want to, he showed everything that you want in a command and big powerhouse sublimit field, but I totally agree with Andrew. There was some lovely short pass in tick attack, a stuff going on if you want from him as well. He looks like he's, he's got a bit of that in him. If I had a, you know, just a sort of poor a little bit of cool water on it. He's, there were a couple of times I've told he was, he was sort of not in the ball a bit too far in front of himself, and then rushing in, winning it back. And I did, there were that, that 25 yard, uh, where he slid in, that was, that was a case in question. He'd lost the ball, and then had, you know, got his head down and head after it. The credibility, look, that I love it, but you're going to, you're going to get sent off on you, you're going to, you're going to clob us somebody in and get sent off. But, oh, it was, it was exciting to see the Lardies, don't

31:49them sell no harm at all with that performance. I don't expect them to, to be playing in Jack's position on Saturday, when I did our hoop, that I can, that, that our expecter say him on the bench after, after a performance like that. Well, don't know who I am, is the whole life and say, can I just quickly add to that, just about your point, they're Kelvin from midfield players, one of the things you want to look for is that they want possession of the ball, they want the ball, they always want to look in front. And when they get it, they're, they're comfortable with it, they're fake, they're comfortable in possession. And again, for a debut, because I always remember, I always remember going back, um, when Trehu made his debut in his first few games in the team, I remember, Megan points then about Trehu, he was doing all the simple things brilliantly, and that's all he did for the, for the first three or four games, he played five yard pass, passes, won the tackles, won the headers, but he never once looked for a long pass, I did anything

32:51out of like his range, he just kept things simple. And for a player like that to come in on his debut, a club like us where he's trying to kick on, enter to ask for the ball and want it to, to, to, to get things going and to get things moving for the team. I mean, that's exactly what you want from a midfielder player. So it was, it was, there was a little bit of chemistry as well. I thought between him and rig. There was a bit of them to look like they were enjoying playing with each other, but you were right as well when whoever it was that said he tied a bit towards the end of the game. You know, he's, he's a young lad, he's not, he's not played many games, he's played five by my count, but you know, but it's exciting, isn't it when you see a young boy like that? Even if he did cost 10 million. Well, on that cell, he's new club, 10 million, he's only played ample of games, I bet you the adrenaline was pumping. So probably was a prize. Yeah, yeah, yeah,

33:53it was all part of the entertainment and fun last night. Really enjoyable. I don't know how in practical terms you scout a player who's only played that many games. I mean, how'd you physically get to watch him for a start? Do you know what? He won good reporter, you book a flight and go and watch him. Well, it was, I think he stuck out at this, the same tournament that Jocelyn started. He was the breakthrough player. I got that award at that tournament. So I think he probably stuck out there. And then again, we had a piece on the side. I think Gov stuck it up to kind of describe what type of play he was and all the data pointed to what type of play he was and everything and after getting that award. So I think we jumped in there. But again, it falls apart and you talk earlier about Talby Martin about the season potentially too early. We took the risk last summer on all these players before anyone else did. And I think it's the same

34:54case with this one as well. No, I do too. And it's a sign of a good club business and a healthy club. If you can bring those players in and you don't need them or expect them to hit the ground round and contribute in the first team, we can week out immediately. Give them six months, 12 months to settle in. Give them some exposure football, but don't chuck them into team and make them. You're the central midfield player for the rest of the season. You're the left ringer for the rest of the season. And we've done it a few times. And we've bundled we brought in in Gabon or in months before we actually really played them. We did the same with Angulo in January. Bring them in. Give them a bit of exposure, but really it's going to be this season when they pull expect them to kick on. And I think there's probably a few of them last season. Maybe took them a little bit by surprise with just how well they took to the Premier League. I don't really optimistically, it puts the yikki into the team last season. You think, you know, you'll contribute, you'll do well, but maybe this season where we really see the best of them. But the level of performance

You run through the team that played in that game 12 months ago. And that was 11 changes, I think from the side that I played previous Saturday. The second 11 if you want to turn that this season is so much stronger than the second 11 that we could put out last season. So that squad building and that depth that we've got underneath them. I took a lot of confidence from watching our game against Holbeck's, you think there's actually a replacement in creating whichever position should we need us? Yeah, yeah, I agree. I would

37:02death again, learning a bit more about Talby was a positive, but just coming away, knowing in general that there's plenty to come after our first 11 or 15 players is a positive. We talk about the Hawker and he's only played five games and on a Hawker and not going to get him to jump in too deep on him just now. Certainly the type of player and you know when you were saying that he could have he could shoot, he could slide from a million miles out. That does sound like the type of mad son of a player we all love. Who's good? Just have that odd moment where they go up it, if it crackness and do something wild. You know there's something there that you could see him becoming a cult, a cult favorite in the year's to come. He might never play for us again, you don't know but yeah that he's one to watch but but Matali made his debut. He, I don't think he's got 30 senior appearances to his name yet.

39:13Elborg in goal. Elborg still only has what? 15, 20, 20 games at first team level. There's players in that group who you've got no problems throwing them in to the first team if you need to but there nowhere near the finished article yet. They've got a lot of learning to do, a lot of improvement to do. They all seem to show the right attitude and they want to build on what they've done and get better. So yeah the depth in our squad and the potential in our squad I do, I think it's exciting. Do you remember last season how everybody said, oh Afcon's going to be a problem, December's going to be a problem and we worked our way through it. This season all the hacks all the all the pundits who can't be bothered to actually look at the

40:14stage you see. Oh, either in the Europa League too many fixtures they're going to be rubbish. Some land though rather than seeing it as a problem, use the league cook, use the Europa League games, use the FA cook is an opportunity for some of these lads to get minutes and continue growing. So they'll have a plan for Arsenal. So probably already be thinking, what is my structure of the team? I find it hard to believe that one performance could have made them have a complete rethink. You might think about one or two things, but this was all about minutes and people getting a little bit of form. I don't think it had huge bearing on him changing his line, certainly for the week. But as Andrew was going to go through there, I don't think, I think everyone did themselves favors in terms of having the right

42:20attitude. And I think that was probably the most important thing to the manager where he puts his side out against whole city, half a stadium. And it's really easy. We've seen these games before where the players, it feels like we've got the right attitude, but in an atmosphere like that, they just go a little bit flat. But I thought last night, okay, it did go like that in periods. But I thought generally, I thought it was actually quite an entertaining game for that type of game, but it sometimes becomes. And we played some nice stuff. And I thought the players were really positive. I'll already was, I thought was I'll already at the back. I don't think he didn't do an Ipswich for one of a better word. He kept it neat and tidy. He looks a half yard off and put. But again, that was the point, wasn't it, of last night for players like I'll already get minutes in the legs. I thought the tally looks good and it was good to get him

43:21on the pitch at the stadium like, especially get used to that and get used to some of his players. Again, I think he struggled with that type of game and that type of atmosphere to really get gone, but you can tell when he's in possession. He's good. And now he loves getting forward. But what I really like, there was a couple of instances where he had to defend. And I thought, actually, he looks pretty solid in terms of the tackle and put his foot in. So for Farna, I think he kind of grew into it. Nothing really spectacular, but I think he kind of grew into it. And he, you can just tell when the balls played. There was a long ball, someone that might have been or nine diagonal. And he took it, he took it down and controlled it. And it's just little bits like that. You can just see he's got a bit of class about him and when he gets going, I think he's going to excite everyone. Rigg, although playing in that position, I think I can see him coming more centrally this season and playing more games in there. I think he'd be able to good game alongside a hook. I think they're complimenting each other quite well. Or nine, I think I've

44:25tackled in the first minute. I think if that's the other way around West Greenman for a penalty, by the way. And I think on, I think it's 50, 50 were referees. I think five would have given it and five would have the other thing was he was lucky. It was after a couple of minutes. I think if that's 20 minutes later and into the game, the referee gives that by the way because the referees used to blow on his whistle 20 minutes later. So I think he got away with one there. It's funny with that one because on the reaction pause, I only seen a couple of replayers when the incident actually happened and I hadn't really watched since then. My initial thing was I just one of those you got is his body in between the ball and the player and that was kind of that. The boy you watched it, I've watched it a few times during the incident. It's dodgy like. I said in full speed, I was like he's got to give a penalty and then when he crossed his arms, I went bloody hell. And then when I saw the replay of back, I went, how has he not given that?

I just can't see him switching. How solid that Mekili Muneer and gone forward as well. The took turns when we were in possession of being the one who's attacking the other one, dropped in behind him, dropped in a full bar. So I had, especially against Arsenal, maybe if it was someone else, but I just think against Arsenal, he's going to want those two on that right. And so, well, let's see what Chris. That's exactly right. And earlier, under Chris mentioned, Luke O'Neill in Wollocks, Wal-Born, who said, Luke's played this season has

I think if there's one thing that we've learned over the past few years is never right, Luke O'Neill. And often, never form a strong opinion about Luke O'Neill because he will usually surpass whatever opinion you hold, but he's lucky. He's always had that in his locker, doesn't he? And whether a team striving to make an impact, wanting to impress a certain self on the game, he was captain last night, of course. But he does play on that line, doesn't he? And you've always got the risks. I come with it. Yeah, you could be kind and say he plays on the edge because he does. He has a wild moment in him from time to time. There was a moment in the first half where there was a long ball through and

But he got up and he was fine. And that, like the early panel, the incident, I think just sums him up, he is just all action, 100 miles an hour. He gets himself into positions just because he puts his body on the line. He, he, he, I don't think he feels pain on the pitch. And that's part of his will to win. There are moments where where he probably takes it a little bit too far. But given the the depth we have now, I think he's maybe dropped down the peck and order anyway. I don't think he'll

Thank you. In the first half, he made a load of really clever runs, expecting a ball over the top. And we didn't do it. I don't know how noticeable that was if you were on the TV, but where I happened to be in the ground, I spotted that and I thought that was, that was interesting on two fronts. It was interesting because Isador was working hard and he, he never once then threw his toys out the pram when the ball wasn't played to him. But, but this pod we've talked a lot about individual performances, I think it was quite interesting how in the first half, even though it was a greatly changed lineup, the idea was still the same in that we played with the handbrake on. There was, I know we hit the post and we had a couple of attempts in that,

53:56but there was definitely times when we could have taken a gamble and played Isador through, or we had the ball on the wings and rather than, than continuing, like, to be in the second half got the ball head down and was away. But in the first half, there was a couple of times we were checking back and what have you. We were still playing with the handbrake on in the first half. That is clearly how Lebris wants to do it. And I think it's really interesting to me that Lebris is trying to hammer home this theory throughout the group. Doesn't matter what the competition is, it doesn't matter what the actual personnel are. First halves are going to be keeping it solid, keeping the ball not taking risks. There was times in the first half where I got a bit frustrating thought, how am I suddenly going to lift the tempo a bit? There was a deliberate decision not to do that. And I'm just making

54:58the point because I think that is something we're going to have to get used to, even against called beatable teams. I think it's really an interesting point. And when we play teams like hold with the greatest respect to hold, at home, we should be going for them, we should be trying to get two or three goals and trying to win that game and just put it out and reach rather than mention our bets almost and keeping it tied. I don't understand that in his arsenal, a man said he had a little bit of cool or whoever else it is. But I would like to say a little bit more attacking minders play from the off. Now I know that the counter argument is, especially as warm, but underway as well. If we concede nearly goal, the dynamic of that game shifts completely, which I can understand. But come into Sean's question which ties into this and Kelvin, I'll took this view to comment on when I've read Sean's point out. But I think it's really interesting how people perceive the game because Sean says does playing three winners tonight or four if you

57:02count three a year. You know that Reggie is willing to play more attacking players in the right certain senses as opposed to being two negative times like some think. Now I think it's really interesting because I actually don't think it's about personnel. I don't think if the matter if we've got three or four winners on the pitch or one winner, I think we play in a certain way. And it's almost, it doesn't matter who's on the right wing, who's on the left wing. Because we are going to, those players are going to be instructed to play that way, that the best ones in the play at certain points in the game. I sort of agree with that, Martin. I think it would be great as well, wouldn't it? Support a team where you know how we're going to play. You know, we, you know, it's almost imprinted on where a DNA that this is how we're playing. But I don't think LeBris is, I don't think

58:03is like that. I don't, I don't think that's what he's looking for. I do feel he's really pragmatic and guided by the context of if games and I was, as you were speaking, I made a note there. I was thinking about LeBris, you know, he always seems to be weighing up the, how to beat the apporeland versus how to stop the apporeland, you know, and I always feel these kind of playing, I don't think it's a massive dilemma for him. I think that's how we've used the game. You know, that we're going to stop these, we're going to stop these, you know, I feel like you want to stop Arsenal on Saturday, you want to stop them playing and then you want to then try and beat them. At Brentford, you know, when you look out, what was going through? What did he see

59:04that said, I'm, we're going to go for the jugular in the, you know, from the kickoff. There was something, wasn't it? It was Ihad us playing. Ihad us going for it. But he'll have seen something, he'll have looked at it, he'll have seen it and and decided that's that's what he was going to do. So I feel like it's the context of the game, the opposition, I feel like, you know, in terms of like playing a tack and players, do you remember that last season when we played us in Valarouier? Wasn't that a, wasn't that a great game? Didn't we play a great attack and football, but didn't we lose the game? You know, so, do you know where I'm going with that? That he, what? That's the team. So, and it almost, you know, it was a, it was two errors and we lost the game,

1:00:05you know, and that could have been, that could have been a crack in a crack in crack in victory. But I still walk away from that game feeling, you know, he can and is willing to let us play that way. The context of that game was we couldn't get relegated, we were safe and so it was like, okay, lads, now I'm not saying it was a free hit, but I did feel like he's set us up to play that day, like he did on Saturday afternoon against Brentford. So he's, I don't think he's rigid in the sense of I, my teams will only play one way, but I think he's, I think he's, I think that the way he sees the game is some names will have to stop the appalling from playing and some names will have to win the game and some names he can do both in the same 90 minutes, you know, I, I, I, he's an

1:01:07intriguing character, and he's really absolutely is to nape in terms of what sort of manager is he I think that's what sort of manager he is, he's, he's said, now I'm not going to feed the, the myth of he's, he's some sort of mystical guru, you know, but he's got an intriguing way of looking at the game that's very, very hard to break it. And when you look at the first half against Brentford on, on Saturday, he's always got something up he's sleeved. Oh, no, it's not. It's me. It's interesting. And if you heard Keith Andrews comment after the Brentford game, Kelvin, because he said, you know, it's a real challenge coming up against the bracing. He's always trying to out, you know, smart you and, you know, and that kind of happened, but I guess that the point with all of that and going back to Sean's question is ask, we can, we can play with two out now when he's been here with three wingers on the field and there are as many tactics as we want. Or against Brentford, you've got merely a thing that the rule might have widened the rise.

1:02:11It's defensive there and we pretty probably are best attacking performance of the season. I think it's more about the mentality that he sets the players out with rather than the individual players who were selected to make that team up. Every player would be selected to do a job. Based, neither what he wants us to do to get the better of the opposition or to, to enable us to stock the opposition that's not as straight forward as looking as, right, we've got to tell you on that wing and go on that wing, drop your front, we're going to go in attack. It's not as simple and straight forward as I don't think. I think it's a bit more about how that team operates and how the brist wants that team to operate in any particular circumstance, any particular team in the only particular game. That's an interesting one. We touched on it earlier about the flexibility of the forward players, but that runs throughout the whole team. They don't buy necessarily, right, we want a right back, we'll buy a right back,

1:03:13we'll buy a central defender, they buy players by looking at attributes. Now obviously, Alderette, left footed defender, so the know what job he's going to do on the pitch. Metallie, they want the attributes and the other thing is Metallie's tall, he's a big lad as well. I was surprised to see how big he was, but he's big as well. So they've looked at attributes, some are one of the ones at the top was height, but then it's like, right, well, he's tall, he's quick, he's good on the board, he's exactly what we want in those attributes in that area of the pitch. It's not exactly the book, because Metallie probably, you wouldn't be surprised if at some point, Vanille doors at left back and Metallie's ahead of him on that left hand side. It's not necessarily, we're buying a left back, we're buying a player who's left sided and got these attributes and that's what we want in that player. And that goes out the whole team and so we can mix and match

1:04:14because the register brace knows how he's team players and then the players know that. So if they slot into, you know, Mungi and McCaley down that right hand side, they've done so much training and being jilled into them that they know what the brace expects down that right hand side. So it doesn't matter what personnel are there, it's, you know, and then again with the attributes, it's and you know, we want that on the right hand side, right, we've got Angula on the left, right, you know, we've got that on the right hand side, you need to go past your player and get balls into the box and get us going and get those attacks started. That's what we've bought you to do. So as Martin said, each player has his job to do just very quickly. I wanted to make this point and apologies for bringing egg chases into it because I know, Gavall won't be happy about this. But I always, the way I look at, I've always loved it register brace's tactics and people, my guy, completely disagree with it, but this is how I framework in my head how register brace sets up. You watch top level rugby union, you know, whether it's late stages of the World Cup or

1:05:16huge games in the six nations, they're always decided in the last 15, 20 minutes. More often than not. All right, there's, there's your outliers, but rugby sides are almost a drill to you, you stay in the game for the last 20 minutes when both sides are evenly matched. Quite often, they don't go out each other. It's always because they need that and again, your finishes in rugby in the last 20 minutes. I think register brace almost goes in without mentality. It almost goes in to say, right, we want the game to be close with 20 minutes to go with, you know, 25 minutes to go, 15 minutes to go, whatever. And then he changes it and then goes, right, now we're going to take advantage of it. Now we're going to step it up. I mean, you know, I think it was only Villeau got more points from losing positions and things like that last year. Yeah. And I really do. I think he emphasises that last period of the game because then again, you know, you go up to the semi-finals and finals of World Cup and rugby to always that last period of the game. And I think, I think, I think register brace almost plays on it. And he wants us

1:06:19to, that's when he wants us to step it up in the game. No, I think there's an awful lot to be said for that. And sure, Gav will love the mention of rugby. Yes. Malcolm Elborg. Andro, I'm going to trip this one at you. See if you can catch it. Malcolm Elborg has got a couple of comments last night. And obviously there was one more where he raced out of the box in the first half and he really gets anywhere. And he said, Elborg, not convincing Knight, I would confident of him starting if Ruf's got injured and Martin Bauer says, what do you think in Malcolm Elborg? Every time I see him play, there's a moment or two where he's close to costing us a goal and he doesn't look comfortable with the ball and his feet. Do we think number two, keep it in position? If something we need to improve in January, I don't rate him. He says, that's something that's what Malcolm Bauer says. But you know, it is naturally going to be a question emerging out of that game isn't it? Because look, you kept a train choose. You made a decent save at one point, but some of the player that he had on one of his feet,

1:07:25decision-making, all that sort of stuff, maybe left a little bit to be said, but you know, he hasn't did that much football for us. Nevermind generally, he's still a young lad here in the last season. He did well when he was called, wasn't he? He did. I can't think of any massive ricks that actually cost us in a serious game. Am I missing anything obvious? I can't. Are you blaming on nine for the new castle game? A lot of people point at the finger at Elborg for not saying no, I'm not giving you the ball, but that's the only thing I can do, even then it's if he. I know, but would say time and time again. That was all part of the plan just to differ by. Just a little bit of a little bit of a security. Exactly. That moment where he ran out of his box and yeah, I'm not going to defend that.

1:08:28It was it was poor judgment from from how I saw it. There's something about him with the ball at his feet that just doesn't look right. It's weird. I don't know, I don't know if it's just just how his body moves or something, but because it doesn't look right and yet again, I can't think of too many times where it's it's cost us. It is. Sorry, Andrew. It's almost like he doesn't receive the ball with his body turned. He can't even receive the ball straight on. He can't squandered. He's got to take another touch or actually move his out of his feet. I would say if somebody's closing down his lost ass that little yard. Yeah, it's it's it's it's a peculiar one. His long kicking is getting better. There was there was one last last night where he did that thing. Sorry. It was a really good ball. Andrew that one. Yeah, yeah, really good look at that. Yeah,

1:09:34it was a good strike. I in it the way he did it, it was like it was like when roofs kicks the ball long. If I try and kick the ball long, the whole body is contorted in the ball. Doesn't even get the halfway line. Whereas they're just very able to like gently swing their foot at it and get get brilliant distance. So that would suggest to me if anything he's working on his is ability with the ball at feet. It's an odd one because yeah, I can kind of understand why people are getting fearful. But as yet given his age given his experience, I don't think his actual outputs that bad as to whether we look to upgrade in January, I think the club are just holding on until Matt Young's back. I think I think they're probably do want to spend too much on it on a part of

I don't think he's as bad as he perhaps makes out. Does that make sense? He's a young keeper. I think he's progressing well and down the line, he perhaps gets overtaken by Young, but in the meantime, I'm happy to stick with him. On Calvin, do you agree with me? Yeah, yeah, yeah. He is still young, a young lad and hasn't played in off-load of games. I also feel you know we need the recruitment team have seen something in him and their street cred, we'll have to give them due credit, don't we the recruitment team? They've

If I was in opposition forward with a bit of speed about me, I'd be thinking I had a chance with him when he's got the ball at his feet. I think there is something awkward, it could be that point you made about the way that he receives the ball. I'm sure they're working on it because if we can see it, they can see it for sure. So I feel you know it's not the worst keeper I've seen player for us. It's not the worst backup keeper I've seen player for us and I don't feel like I've seen enough of them to like say, nah, the sleds, the sleds not going to make it. Yeah, I'm pretty sure that wasn't that wasn't an end of Lebrisa's thinking. So you know, the feel, let's give him a chance, he's a young lad not cleared too many games. Recruitment team have seen something in him. Let's see where we go without, let's see where we go. I'll try and be quick, but just about Elborg, I think it's really difficult position for keepers like number two keepers to come in and try and impress. And I think the fact that he charged out and sometimes the ways in possession on the ball is and again, I think it's he wants to come in and impress, but when goalkeepers have that mentality, it ends up going wrong because goalkeepers almost should be only come in to action when

1:13:52you know, when he needs to pull off his save and that's it. And you saw actually there was a save, come in with it was a free kick and it was down low to his left and he kind of made it look a bit more spectacular than it should have been. I mean, maybe he could have actually, you know, if he's just playing the game, let's say that's a training session, does he hold on to that? And it's this mentality of trying to do everything in an extravagant way because I've got my chance, I want to you know, I want to impress, I don't want to let anyone down. But again, we talked about doing the percentages earlier instead of just doing everything comfortably, everything, there's this element of right, all the balls come in there in behind, I need to charge out. And you know, sometimes he just needed to be like almost play like a training session, relax a bit. And then he probably look, and I'm going to say it kind of good, he'd look natural if that makes sense, but it's kind of out of context because he comes in for one performance and it's like, right, I need to do everything. And he needs to learn, just don't just calm it down.

1:14:55But it's an interesting reason because he's not got a position to win. So it's not as if he's now clear playing, he's coming in and he could play in two or three positions and somebody gets knocked through again. Ruf's is going to be number one. So he's got to show he can step in if needed because he's not competing against anybody else stepping at the moment. It's if he needs another goalkeeper, it's going to be elbow. So I must admit, I have concerns about being our second choice goalkeeper. I said during the summer when we were talking about where we need to strengthen because I think that's the one position where you've got to look at and go, if our number one pick enough area misses any significant amounts of football, do we have somebody who we are really comfortable coming in and having a relatively similar level of consistency in games and any of the players from the pitch, you can fudge in the bat and go, well, we might go through the back of our left back, then just, oh, we might change what we do. Thrundt slightly if the problem is in just, you can't

1:16:00do that with a goalkeeper. And I think we've taken a probably an unnecessary risk in half a class. But I think when you look at him as a shot stopper, he makes him good saves him out, there was a bright home. Last scene where he made it, really in save, very early on in the game. So he's capable of making good saves and that's the basis of being a good goalkeeper. But I think he's got so much else to learn about his all around game that he's got to learn very good, we have to check him in for a moment. I think Andrew's bang on though about Maddie Young and I think that's the only reason he's there. And the other option would have been is to keep Maddie Young at the club this season and have him in his number two, but it's not that you've got some of the Europa League games, you've got the league cook games. But that's not the only option. You could say a whole, they've got Jack Butler in the book, I know he's injured in a minute, he could drink somebody like that in, who's a steppled from Simon Moor, but you've got a safe pair of hands, who's happy to sit in the bench for the

1:17:03majority of the season, would come into the odd game or provide backup if we need it. And it's it's going to be an interesting one to say if we do do something on January or we we say enough in Joe County, for example, I think in your wife, if we need to, wouldn't chuck somewhere like that in or depending on what Maddie Young's doing, whether he comes back into the equation. Elborg was in goal for two or a while, best of way wins last season. And that's the other bit, isn't it? Yeah, let's let you know if he comes in and does that then everyone's happy. Oh, I know, I guess the overriding thing is, are we comfortable in confidence? Would we, near our colour than most of us, we're absolutely spot on, so all going to be fine. And you'd be more of a case across in your fingers than hoping, rather than having full confidence. But, you know, as I say, he's got the basics there, he can produce some great saves and yeah, look, I think we've got some good coaches there and as he said to have in the club, obviously he's seen enough in them to splash some cash on them to bring them in.

1:18:06I think he's up there, wouldn't develop. And either take over as number one or sell them in the future for a bit of a profit. So there's obviously, there's something there. And I do think you're right, Chris, in terms of that desire to impress. You know, I think it's a bit of an odd one for goalkeeper to have that when he's buckle. I really liked the goalkeeper for a team that won 4-1. To see your goalkeeper and say your goalkeeper's played really well. That kind of doesn't make sense, but I thought she looked solid because there has been doubts for quite some time now about who

1:20:20some of the first choice would be. So early days, early days, but a really good way to start off this new era. And I happy with what we're seeing so far.
