0:00Waterloo Regional Police are digging into a hate-motivated assault that sent one person to the hospital early Sunday morning. It went down around 2.35 a.m. at a business near King Street North and Columbia Street East. The trouble kicked off with a verbal clash between the victim and a group of about six unknown males. Things heated up quick and the group jumped him before peeling out right before offices rolled up. The victim walked away with injuries that art and life threatening, but the hate angle has folks on edge in the community. Police confirmed it's being treated as a targeted bias attack. Investigators have details on the suspect's rides, a black Acura SUV and a white Honda Civic. They're working leads to track these guys down. As the pro pushes forward, expect more bricks soon. Hate has no place here and justice is on the way.
