Harlequins Appoint Gilmore, Deans for New Era

The former defense coach joined the club in 2024 and stepped in on an interim basis six months ago after Danny Wilson departed. Joining him next season is Robbie Deans, the 66-year-old ex-Australia coach who will serve as performance director. The club also brought in Rob Hunter, previously with Exeter Chiefs, as forwards coach starting next season. Deans brings a wealth of experience from his time assisting the all blacks and later leading the wallabies as their first non-Australian coach. Harlequins sit second from bottom in the premiership after six straight losses, including a recent defeat to Gloucester. Fans have stuck by the team through a rough year, and the new group aims to rebuild standards and the squad for better results. Gilmore sees this as an exciting challenge with plenty of work ahead. Deans' guidance will help the coaching staff and players push forward. Harlequins plan to add an assistant defense coach soon to lighten Gilmore's load.
