It's going to be just a few degrees cooler, but then we have some pretty significant cooling as we head into the weekends. And that's good. And it's still schpitzy today or is it still schpitzy? Yep. Wow. I mean, yesterday was, you know, I stepped outside. It was just brutal. It was horrible. Okay. All right. There's that. What else? Let me say hello. Hands back. She was gone for the day. 4:42And I tell you what kind of, you have some seal or something on your t-shirt. What does that say? Oh, it's a, it's a bar in Texas. Oh. Okay. Yeah. Within all you can eat buffet attached? No. Okay. She's. I happen to like those. I actually got thrown out of one of those. All you can eat? Yeah. They tossed me. I've never seen that much too much. Oh, yeah. Well, I took too much for sure. And I said, but it says all you can eat. So you're, you've breached your contract and they smiled and said, that's correct. Get out. But you advertise this. Yes, we do. Get out. What were you doing? I was eating. And they just said no more? Yeah. It was a small place and they just said, no, you're done. I should have filed a lawsuit. That's embarrassing for them. Yeah, because they advertise one thing and they say another, you damn right.

5:44That's embarrassing. No, that's not where I was going. Oh, oh, I miss read that then. Kono, hello. You had to have eaten a lot. Yeah. Like you were at the peak fat, right? Like, yeah, I was well over 300 pounds. If you want to see pictures, it was. It was three hours. Yeah. Well, you know, you can, you can pay, if you pace yourself, you can over a quite, over a period of two, three hours really pump a lot of food in your body. You know, in this standing up, walking around, you know, talking to the other patrons saying, hey, you know, you have, try the roast beef. It's really good. You have too much chicken on your plate. You want to mix it up. I've been to many buffets with you. That must have been a lot. You and I put away food. It was a lot. We've never been kicked out. Well, no, because we order and paid for the food. Have we, and we've gone to what, what, what all you can eat buffet?

6:45We did, um, we've done all kinds. We've done sizzler. We've done, um, round table. We've done all kinds of food. Yeah. They ran out of pizzas with a round table. Oh, no, you would, he would, he would sit in there at the buffet. Yeah. A tapping waiting for them to refill it. Yeah. Pretty much. All right. I think everybody's here. Uh, that's it. The, the whole team is here. And we've got a fair amount to talk about. Oh, real quickly. And you were at the Padres game last night. Uh, two nights ago. And how they do. Hey, one. Oh, okay. This, and did anybody watch the football game yesterday? Yes. Seattle game. Who won that one? I just tuned in for a second or two. Well, Seattle won it. Okay. So it was a reasonably close game. It was a good game. Well, except for the four interceptions, man. Uh, yeah. And you had the two Super Bowl teams playing each other. So they played the Super Bowl again. Kind of. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, and the which quarterback got injured, by the way, the Sam

7:49Arnold. The Sam Arnold and his, and he's, and he is, and he's the, the, uh, quarterback, right? Yeah. He's the Super Bowl champion, uh, right snaps into the game. Right. And he's a 30 million dollar a year guy and they got, um, is he out for a while? Did he come out? Yeah. For a minute. He hurt his hip. Huh. Oh, huh. Hey, what was with the one player had the big helmet? Well, some players now wear the, the new cushioned helmets to prevent, uh, concussions. And they do look very funny. They do. They look like, they look like aliens or something. These, they do. Yeah. Yeah. And what they do is they cover, at least they cover them. So they try to approximate the helmet. Look, uh, do you see them in practice? What those things look like? Well, they have them in games now. The player, the wider super head of last night, he looks like a big head. Yeah. But they do cover it with, uh, yeah, it's padding. Yeah, it's got like an extra layer of foam or something. Okay. Yeah.

8:49No, I've seen him. Okay. Uh, oh, and then we'll pick up the story. Uh, of course, what happened last night, uh, because you remember, uh, well, of course, you remember, but how often have I said, uh, that, uh, when I was in the fourth grade, uh, the kid who won, uh, the presidency of the fourth grade, remember, fourth grade president and one, uh, because he promised free pizzas on Friday during recess. Well, the president, not only promised free pizzas, he promised the full pizza parlor. And, uh, that will be our lead story, uh, Amy, Neil and me handle on the news, lead story. Here comes the money. Okay. Money, so, uh, the Republican midterm convention, which has never been done before, but the president wanted to pull that one off for a couple of reasons, uh, which, uh, it makes sense both on the G R and I a great guy, uh, as well as, um, uh, turning public attention to the Republicans or what Republican Republicans have done.

9:50And, uh, so amongst his other $10,000, uh, $10,000 statements that he made that are, eh, not, that quite true. Uh, here's this promise. If the Republicans keep control of Congress after November, he is going to give every single American adult a $5,000 dividend. That's 270 million people will get $5,000 a piece. Uh, that's not getting into the details of what like the number. Like the number. Yeah. Is that that can't be legal. I don't think it is. I don't think it is. Yeah. I, and he wouldn't Congress couldn't they don't, cause like there have been times when like during COVID, right? Newsom said, Hey, we're going to give everybody some like a cash infusion. You have to do it through Congress, right? Yeah, they have to do Congress and, and, and, uh, the government has said yes to those stimulus packages. Uh, we're given this is a part of this.

10:53Yeah. This is a little different than than a cash infusion. Yeah. This is, I mean, it's, I mean, it's just crazy. This is, uh, this is, let's build a wall. The Mexico will pay for it. Uh, let's, let's cut prices in half on day one of the, the, the office. I mean, it's, uh, it just, every time I think of, how is it possible? Uh, it just, it just keeps on going. It keeps on going. Yeah. Air Force one, someone deploys the emergency shoot while the president is waiting, uh, on the tarmac on marine one to get onto the new Air Force one and somebody aboard the plane, what are the military people accidentally deploys the emergency shoot? And the president said when he said, he said, didn't someone deploy, he goes, no, they were just checking it out. They just wanted to make sure that it was working. You were on marine one waiting to get on the airplane. By the way, is there anybody I'd have flown a lot has anybody ever been waiting for a

11:58inner plane at the gate and the emergency shoot was deployed, uh, to see if it was working while people were waiting to get on. How long does it take to re stuff that in that very long? I think I'm just checking matter. I think checking the airbag. I, I don't think it's re stuffing an airbag. We're a parachute. I think, uh, they did it pretty quickly. Didn't they, me? Yeah, they had it rolled up in about 10 minutes. Yeah, I didn't take very long and it checked out. Okay. I've never heard of them checking that. That's correct. You never heard of them checking. You have a heard of emergency shoots being deployed when they shouldn't have been. If you like someone's policies, good for you, but that absurdity, it is paying everyone an adult. What is it? Uh, it's over a trillion dollars. So over a trillion trillion. Oh, there you go. Free pieces, lots and you can buy a lot of pieces for $1.2 trillion with a lot of toppings, even expensive toppings. What if, what if he, he does it, but he says, unfortunately, it's 100% taxed.

13:03So we never see it. Oh, no, we would see it. We would see how here in California, we'd see half of it. And the rest of the country, you, the states that have no income to actually see two thirds of it, but doesn't even matter. I mean, it's just, uh, sure, why not? And was everybody standing up and I didn't watch this. Were they standing up and giving them a standing, you know, a standing ovation? Yes, we're going to get $5,000. Sure. Why not? Okay. A lot of questions, including were the brakes broken? Breaking systems did not deploy during sudden days, deadly plane crash at Mount Miami International Airport. The aircraft's wheel brakes were applied, but data indicates the speed breaks and the thrust reversors did not deploy that's according to NTSB. Five people were killed when the jet overshot the runway and crashed into a van and an SUV. The pilot can be heard on the cockpit voice recorder saying, we're going too fast. And said that the, the landing should be aborted.

14:07And they tried, but it looked like too late, uh, listening to an interview with, uh, one of these pundits experts in the world of flight, uh, said, uh, you have to go one way or the other, uh, you have to commit. And it looks like for several seconds, they didn't commit. And then they said, oh, okay, we now have to abort, but it was, uh, several seconds too late. This happens in a split second. So, uh, these pilots have a lot to talk to. Uh, someone's going to lose their license. That's for sure. As in both the pilots. Okay. Okay. So we've been, uh, hearing and watching as oil prices spike because of the Iran war and President Donald Trump came out yesterday and said those same oil prices that have surged most likely won't come down until after the US midterm elections. So, um, I don't know. So now the issue is, uh, you have to believe me, uh, you, for those of you that are

15:10Republicans, you have to get out there. And for those of you that are sort of in the middle, you have to swing back to Republicanism, Democrats. I don't think he's even talking about it. Uh, and it's going to be, uh, I know I said it. Uh, I know it hasn't come to pass, but it will. It will just sit, sit back and inflation will go down and prices of oil will go down and gasoline will go down to under two dollars, a, uh, under two dollars, a gallon. Uh, what is the, what is oil today? Amy, have you looked at it or a meal that Brent crude, uh, we were talking to John Tucker with Bloomberg that Brent crude was up over $105. Wow. And in the US, uh, crude oil just, it just topped 100 of barrel. True. It's expensive stuff. That is gasoline. Uh, now, uh, now that I got rid of my V and I bought myself a gasoline car, uh, which gets way too crappy gas mileage. I'm actually looking at my mileage indicator, explode for the amount of gas I'm putting in.

16:15Five 95, a gallon on average in LA County this morning. Yeah. And that's that fresh regular. And I, because any new car today is premium gas. I don't know if any car has regular anymore. Really? I think cars have regular, my car, well, okay, a lot of new cars, uh, I have, uh, premium. Okay. Well, that's nothing because we got a, a talk back, uh, from a wake up call listener and he said that the average price of diesel in the Cahon pass, oh yeah, eight 49 a gallon. Yeah. And that's not going to, since everything, everything is delivered by truck in the United States. Uh, that's not going to affect prices at all. Cause inflation is going down to me. Isn't diesel supposed to be cheaper? Yep. It always historically has been cheaper except the last few years has gone even more expensive. Uh, it's crazy. Okay. Uh, some news about tomorrow. Uh, we're adding a moment of silence.

17:17So during September 11th, uh, commemoration ceremonies at ground zero, every year, a bell tolls at the exact minute, each of the four planes crashed. And then when each of the twin towers fell, that happens as they're reading the names. A, after the bell tolls, there's a moment of silence. This year, they're adding a seventh moment of silence. It's being held for the nearly 7,000 people more who have died since the tax in 2001 because of the diseases linked to their exposure to the toxic ash and rubble at the World Trade Center. So that's the change out. And tomorrow, uh, in on the morning show, we're going to replay the broadcast of 9, 11 here on KFI. Uh, and it's, uh, it's a, it's a compilation of the six hours that I was on the air. Uh, and as far as a moment of silence, unlike my normal broadcasts, where people are

18:19always asking for a moment of silence and praying that that's what we broadcast. Uh, tomorrow actually is going to be worth listening to big time. It's, uh, every time I listen to it, it's, uh, it sends chills down my spine. And that's tomorrow at 830. I have the weirdest feeling about mom, Dobby and or whatever his name is and that whole thing, it's almost like, yes, Muslim terrorists killed 3,000, but but look what the, look what America did to 7,000 people afterwards. I don't know, feels weird and gross. All right, Mayor Karen Bass stepping down from, uh, Lossa, the, uh, LA Homeless Services Authority commission. And she said in a statement Tuesday, Bass will be appointing a new appointee to fill her spot. This was in an interview last week. Bass told KFI's Gary and Shadden. She would be leaving Lossa, uh, commission due to scheduling conflicts and other time

19:23constraints. Yeah, except an statement from the office, the mayor's office and I quote, the mayor's firsthand experience at Lossa reinforced her understanding that our current system is broken and in need of a major overhaul. That's why she went on to Lossa and became the commission head, uh, because it's for her understanding how broken it really is. The fact that she led it for two years. Uh, now she has a better understanding. And by the way, since it's so broken, someone else is going to run it. Uh, again, 40 pizzas on, uh, Friday. I mean, how do we put up with these utter BS lies over and over again by these politicians and if Nip Nip, you helped run it as well. So we're screwed on both sides. Oh, yeah, we're just, yes. You know, the answer is become homeless and you'll do just fine in the city. Well, here's a hell of a development. You may soon be able to carry a bottle of water on a plane with you. The TSA is actively considering allowing TSA precheck passengers to bring water bottles

20:28through security. It's select airports in the coming months. They didn't say which airports are select, uh, but they plan to roll it out initially at airports who have the newer CT screening technology and automated detection capabilities that can distinguish water from other liquids. Or you can just pour water on the TSA agent and say, this is water and then you let you through. Hmm. I wouldn't recommend that. Yeah, but that's pretty low tech. I mean, that wouldn't cost a lot of money. True. All right. Uh, some good news out of Hollywood for a change. It's, uh, closing out the best summer since the pandemic. A lot of mix of blockbusters this year and the US and Canadian box office generated more than 4.6 billion in ticket sales from the first weekend in May through August 30th. That's a according to a measurement, uh, firm rent track.

21:29But you had the Odyssey. You had Pixar's toy story. You had Spider-Man brand new day, which I think is still running top. It's still number one six weeks in. I have a question. I said, have you seen and probably Kono's, yes, done this one. Uh, Spider-Man brand new day. Have you seen the movie? Has anybody have any one of us in the movie? No, it's on our list to go see it. But yeah, I just, uh, yeah, I want to, is it that good, uh, where it's, uh, doing that kind of box office? Now I saw the Odyssey and I thought it sucked, uh, personally. Uh, I don't think it's hurt because I didn't like it. I didn't think, uh, imagine the book. Well, he and a sort of the book. It was just, yeah, I, I, I just, the story, uh, I thought the story was contrived, even though it's based on the Odyssey, which has been around for thousands of years. Yeah, it was, they took, uh, it was, yeah, they just took it. They wrote it up too loosely, but no, I just didn't think it was that good. And maybe because it had such rave reviews and I was, uh, so, it was so highly

22:31anticipated. I go, uh, okay. Did you watch it by yourself? Uh, I did actually watch it by myself. You enjoy going to the movies by yourself only when I'm very lonely, you know, those times, uh, and, uh, I never mind. Not those movies. Uh, a pee week. Can you head me a tissue? Stop it. If those movies are gone, VHS killed those movies. Oh, some Girl Scout news. Well, don't get to, don't get too excited. Yeah, this is not for you, Bill. Girl Scouts going to the dogs. The organization has collaborated with bark for its first canine cookie called patch pals. It'll debut in the next, uh, lineup for 2027 inspired by Girl Scouts deep love for their dogs. The soft baked blueberry muffin flavored dog cookies celebrate the bond between people and their pups. I don't know how that sounds. The word was, yeah, that, that's a little cloying, uh, a trickle, I had the way you said that, but I'm for this.

23:34I mean, I would feed my little ones, uh, this blueberry muffin flavored dog treats. I don't know. It's kind of weird. How about some good old fashioned meat? Uh, yeah. Yeah, bacon flavored, uh, little bits and pieces and, uh, yeah. They're also, uh, unveiling an, an allergy friendly cookie, which is going to be a crunchy oatmeal cookie featuring chocolate chips dotted with colorful sprinkles. Okay. Uh, I'm allergic to oats. Yeah. I love a good oatmeal cookie. I'm kidding. All right, Justice Department launches an investigation. What? They do that this time into LA counties, minz jails. I guess we got to keep jails clean for some time. Now there's been pressure mounting on LA County to fix its jail system, uh, whether a person, they say whether a person is held in county jail, awaiting trial or after conviction, the environmental conditions and that jail need to meet constitutional standards. Oh, yeah.

24:35The jails have been infamous. Uh, LA County jails, uh, the sheriff's, uh, running the jails. Oh, we've heard year over many different administrations. Uh, it's been, it's been very tough lawsuits have yet and been paid. God, if there was only a way to stay out of them. Oh, yeah, that could be. Yeah. Yeah. But you're not going to stop everybody from staying out of them. And now does that translate into treating people in humanely in Mexico? Yes. Uh, it's correct. Mexico, uh, you dinner is the rat that you've just caught. That's correct. But share, but share with your other cellies. Uh, China's telling the US to back off on the accusations, the FBI, the national security agency and cybersecurity and infrastructure security agency. That's a mouthful. Have issued a joint cyberspace advisory saying that Chinese AI developers had, as they put it

25:35extracted or distilled capabilities from some of the most advanced AI models in the US, things like Anthropics, Claude, open AI's GPT, Google Gemini and SpaceX, AI's grok. They say they've been doing it for at least 2024. China said, uh, Shush, they said refrain from making unfounded accusations. Or smears against China, adding that both China and the US are major AI powers and should strengthen cooperation, not go at each other's threats. Right. While China is, uh, not only sabotaging, uh, but certainly stealing all of this technological information and, uh, the technology itself. Yeah. And China, of course, denies everything, just an ice. That's not us. We didn't do it. Uh, even though they're right there and there are orders for food from Chinese restaurants in the AI. And so it's, they're just a bunch of liars is what they are. And, uh, most experts will tell you, uh, or tell us that the real enemy of the future is China way more than,

26:40uh, than any other country. I mean, that's a serious, serious, um, issue. Well, it looks like you see Berkeley is under the justice department. That justice department is so busy right now. They, yeah, you see Berkeley's law school, uh, discriminated against white and ancient applicants by illegally using race and admissions. That is what the Department of Justice is alleging, uh, in their investigation, finding that, uh, it expands the Trump administration's probe into universities of, university of California admission practice. So this is UCLA, you see Davis, uh, or be looked at as well as UC Berkeley. Yeah. Well, first of all, you have the Trump administration going after, uh, the UCs because it's California. Also, I want to point something out about the Trump administration. It's absolutely right when it accuses the UC system of using race.

27:43It is illegal. Supreme court has ruled several times. You cannot use race as even a consideration. You cannot look at race at all. It used to be, you can look at race as one of the considerations. Now you can't look at it all as a consideration. But do they do an end-around? You damn right. They do. They look at your application and then they start figuring out where you live. Uh, and they look at your home address. And are you in a primarily, uh, minority school? Uh, they look at, um, you know, what are you? The first one to go to college, which is a good thing. But it turns out that, uh, race is in fact, uh, it being used. They just do an end-around on that. Then the other side of it is, uh, you have so few minorities that are actually going to school. Do you want to push it? Do you, because, uh, you have, uh, for example, blacks and Hispanics have been so discriminated against, uh, historically, do you give them an upper hand and say, yep, it's unfair. And we're going to make it right. Don't know the answer to that. It's, uh, that's beyond my pay grade to make that, uh, that, uh, that decision.

28:47Uh, so it's, you would think there's a way to do it all. Yeah. Well, you can have special classes or, or opportunities. But then, but that becomes, but that becomes it's criminatory. Because what happens when you have a white person who is not a protected class and also does miserable and the first one to go to college? See, I mean, there's no easy answer. I think reparations would, uh, a great type of reparations would have been free schooling for African-Americans, um, especially being tied back to slavery. I think that's, well, you make, that's now we're going back to reparations. You know, but I'm just saying like those types of things to me is to bring the level up. I get it. I, yeah, it is. But what do you, how do you do that without discriminating? How do you do that without giving them extra breaks? And, uh, their, their aim is the problem because that the Trump administration is right in terms of what the law is. And now the moral aspect of it is something very different. I believe in meritocracy, uh, but at the same time, if you're not given the opportunity to be on the same level playing field, which is what the argument is, uh, you know, where do you go with that?

29:51I remember when I took the State Bar, when I took the bar exam, uh, and just a tiny percentage of, blacks, uh, we're passing the bar. There was a lawsuit saying that the bar was racist because, uh, how it handled, uh, the questions. Yeah. And of course that was tossed out because the bar was seen through racist eyes. Uh, come on. Give me a break car accident through racist eyes. Well, yeah, because so few minorities actually own cars and we take the bus. So therefore, I mean, that's the kind of argument that was used during, uh, my time. Okay, let's, uh, go ahead and, oh, we got plenty more to do and we only have another minute or two. Okay. Uh, speaking of public transportation, this is going to get more people to take the train, right? Metro link is raising fares. The, um, one way tickets are going up by 14%. The SoCal day pass is increasing from 15 to 19 dollars on weekends from 10 to 12 dollars on, sorry, 15 to 19 on weekdays from $10 to $12 on weekends and holidays.

30:55That's a 27% increase over what, uh, last 13 years, but, you know, keep in mind, I mean, that's ridiculous, uh, you know, to raise it that much because wages haven't gone up in the last 13 years at all. And the cost of those cars or maintenance hasn't gone up at all. And the cost of materials hasn't gone up at all. Uh, so therefore, uh, Jay, they shouldn't raise rates. Hey, you know, welcome to, uh, inflation. No costs go up and the only people that are keeping costs down is the company we work for. Where wages have not gone up in the last 13 years. And they don't spend much money on the maintenance part either. The whole, uh, they're building new bathrooms right now. They are, they are, but reusing the urinals. Yet the, the urinals are now sitting in the old KFI newsroom. Yeah, all the toilets are. Yeah, I, I, I bag on, uh, I hard a lot, but the reality is, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh,

31:56the reality is the reality. I do bag on them unfairly in many cases. Okay. Uh, that's it. We're done.
