Hamsterley Road's Future Uncertain, Residents Worry

Drone footage recently revealed major subsidence along the riverbank, where erosion has undermined the road surface and even allowed the river to flow. Underneath, in spots, Durham County Council calls it an incredibly complex problem, but they're still looking at every possible fix. Locals feel let down after repeated promises of progress that never materialize. The closure means longer drives on just four main routes out of the village, piling on extra time and costs, especially with ongoing work at, wholcing hambridge forcing even bigger detours. Underversion runs 4.5 miles and squeezes heavy goods vehicles onto a narrow bridge at Limburn Beck leading to several close calls.
