26:45we're still talking to a lot of the candidates so you know they are going to be one of the first to act but if you're looking for who's well someone's already been hired right that did the saint marie's assistant just get hired somewhere last night I saw something there's something going on there but they if you're going to hire someone who's like you want to hire the Miami Ohio coach because they're 30 and oh or whatever he's not done so I don't know if it was right or wrong to hire or fire coach tang when they did it if they were going to get to this reason it will end up being the wrong reason if they try to do it for for cause and it turns out to be really ugly and costs them a lot of money and embarrassment all that stuff but he did not want to go anywhere near those questions about that so the lawyers Todd for lawyers for the lawyers you were the one that said this though so did the lawyer tell you was okay to say this before you said that um but they're in a tough spot this is this has been I was just thinking back it was probably not exactly one year ago but one year ago night of the tournament

27:45that they lost uh Coleman Hawkins as you recall who had apparently gotten that two million dollar in I in I L deal that ruffled some feathers out near Manhattan on where the money came from what it went through whatever and it ended up being a failure because it didn't make the tournament he's in tears feeling like you just point and since he left has really not put Manhattan in a great light he was very nice that night I felt bad for him when you got a kid here who's going through a lot of emotional type things because we talk a lot about you know the messages and DMs these guys get they can't put the phone down they don't know to do it and coach Driscoll talked about him the podium last night all the stuff that that kind of hate that comes in and it's hard for these guys to get away from that stuff but this this this year since then has been bad for Gene Taylor I mean really bad you you you had that and they chose not to be a part of anything they were kind of probably on the fringe of that crown tournament last year whatever and then football didn't go the way they wanted Chris Climent taps out on the thing um they decide not to go to a bowl game you know it's really has been and it's this you know listen PJ Hagger

28:53was really good last night and he and that's one of the things that that Taylor was talking about he could have just quit when Jerome Tang uh got fired like I don't want to do this more because he I think fancies himself an NBA player he was in the the draft last year pulled himself out of it he could still play a year at college maybe go make a few million dollars somewhere I don't know but he continued to play you know given credit for that I think last night he was trying to play quite a lot of attention people were watching the band sent right he had a nice night but I mean you got to fire your coach in the middle now you've got a he said she said on if it's cause or not it's been a really rough year for them now this is an important hire they feel like they hit a home run on on Colin Klein you're always good to you I got to coach a game you know we'll see that goes so it's gonna it's a big hire for Gene Taylor I think yeah I think for sure I mean I think it's it in it needs to be successful right away yeah there's no reason not to be in today's world no you you're gonna get nine new players no matter what you got so

29:54why wouldn't you hit the ground running yeah I was talking to some of the case date uh you know beat guys there last night so how many of these guys will be on the team next year they're like none one I don't know I mean seriously unless it's a walk on it's just from you know junk city or something wants to play I mean it's just that's the nature of college basketball especially when there's a big coaching change so I do want to play Matthew Driscoll he's a bundle of energy and it was a weird spot as we went through this when he got hired he is a guy who was with Scott Drew and Jerome Tang on the very first Baylor staff the staff that took over for Dave Bliss's crew when they lied about the murder and the dead player I mean it's just the one of the worst things you you'll ever see happen and he was there when they started and he got a job at North Florida coach there you know made the term a couple times and he came back to work work with coach Tang and I think they thought they were gonna have a successful year and all of a sudden he's the head coach so I asked him what this last month or so has been like repeat replacing his good friend absolutely miserable I can't use another word than absolutely miserable every day ulcers

31:01not sleeping not feeling good I have an issue I have a problem and I've had it my whole life and when I reached out to our psychologist that did the testing on us he just said coach that's just a way you're wired you're all you're about is making sure things are organized and things are right and you're so if somebody gives me a task my dad says that your last name's on everything don't ever screw up our last name and so because of that I'm wired differently and so it's been very hard to mourn or or be emotional and I even ask my psychologist like like why why why aren't I emotional like why aren't I like he's one of my best friends like he and I'm his daughters my goddaughter but it's because he asked me to do something and I told these dudes I'm gonna do it and when someone asked me to do something that's the one thing I am I'm consistent and so it's been miserable from that perspective but they wouldn't know that because all I tried

32:04to do was just pouring and pouring and pouring to the staff to the players to the GAs to the managers and our staff to their credit they tried to pour in and just it took a lot to hold it together a lot but if you're a man and you're a grown man and you make a decision to come to Kansas state no matter what the outcome is or whatever the responsibilities are when somebody asks you to do something you say yes you do it and that's just the way I was raised. It's where he's raised that's Matthew Driscoll I mean I don't think he's a candidate all for this job but you think yeah I mean I'm glad he you know I don't know that he needs to pay his psychologist this week because I or maybe even the last month because near as I can tell his post game press conferences have been his therapy session it has been he got it all out I mean okay yeah but so next thing up for them will be who's next to be the coach you know did he talk about the kids at any point in that? Yeah absolutely yeah I mean the kids were good and you know like he mentioned

33:08that you know Haggerty like this kid to my left he could have just mailed it in a quit but they were planned for each other and all that these things are all tough I'm not I'm not sad for these guys they all get paid a lot of money to do this but they've and they've created their own situation as a as a sport to do this but trying to put together 8 9 10 12 15 new personalities every single year and then having a coaching change in the middle of it that can't be fun and as you know we were talking about yesterday you know your mark was talking about the agents and all that stuff as much as you think badly of whatever agents in the Major League Baseball and NBA and all that they are registered with an organization and all that and they're not getting that around here these guys are getting shopped here and there and they are young players young people who don't know they're head from the whole in the ground sometimes and they'll just get led by their nose to wherever it's not it can't be as easy to coach as it was 20 years ago you got 15 guys on the team that you have personal relationships with you said I want to coach you

34:10and all that and now the personal relationship is wins the check kit the account what do I got to do and that's about what it is it's just different than it was before and I'm not mad about it or anything I'm just telling you it's different than it was before you know I mean I think you can hear in Jerome Tang and and Driscoll you're hearing guys that I get it when you're when you're like hey we're basically all offering you the same thing but but I'm here for you yeah you know like yeah everyone's getting a scholarship everyone's gonna fly you know what do you want to charter charter you know all the big programs were all pretty much the same and so the coach can make a difference now it's like what's the check coach me and I think these guys do want to win but I don't know if they want to win any more than the guys before I think they're probably when you when you hear him talk if you were getting a check do you want to listen to that like if you're a kid it is some it's some people it is for them me personally no no but we're like but like when you start getting a check it's a job and when it's a job it's that
