It's March 25th. Welcome in. This is Birmingham News Today, where local news meets AI. I'm Corey with the story. Guthrie's chicken just opened its fourth spot in the Birmingham area, right in Hoover at 1817 Montgomery Highway. It sits in front of the River Chase Village shopping center, just a short drive from the River Chase Galleria and Trader Joe's. This marks the chain's 34th location in Alabama and 70th across the country. The brand kicked off back in 1978 as one of the first places in America to focus entirely on chicken fingers. Their menu keeps it simple with those signature fingers, special sauce, sandwiches, coleslaw, fries, and Texas toast. The new Hoover spot is open every day from 10am to 10pm. As a family-owned business with deep southern roots, Guthrie's is thrilled about this expansion. Leaders highlight their time-tested recipes and that famous sauce. Seemed up years ago by a young family member. It's all about bringing that classic hospitality to more folks.
This is actually the second Guthrie's along Montgomery Highway in the last year, following the one in Bestavia Hills back in May, 2025. Meanwhile, Birmingham's seeing a real boom in chicken spots. With places like Raisin Cains and others popping up everywhere, it's clear the cities hoped on hot chicken right now. If you're nearby, it's worth swinging by to taste what the buzz is about.
