Gus Malzahn Returns to Auburn, Boosts New Coach's Knowledge

0:00On April 14th, Gus Malzahn, the legendary Auburn Tigers head coach from 2013 to 2020, is back around the program after retiring. From football, he guided the Tigers to a BCS national championship game and multiple SEC titles, success no one's matched since. Now, New Head Coach Alice Golesch is singing his praises after Malzahn showed up at practices. Golesch, hired in December from USF, has zero ego when it comes to learning from a vet like Malzahn. He straight up asked for the guy's scrimmage notes, calling him someone who's done it at the highest level. Even with their past rivalry, Malzahn at UCF, while Golesch was at USF, F, the respect runs deep. They cross paths in recruiting and clinics, and Golesch says you might be supposed to hate each other, but he's always admired Malzahn's game. While Zahn's moving back to Auburn for good, and Golesch is thrilled to tap that wealth of knowledge, he puts it plain. Gus loves this place.
