Greenlaw Returns to Niners on Low-Risk Deal

The San Francisco 49ers have made several moves in free agency to bolster their roster. They added wire receivers Mike Evans and Christian Kirk, defensive tackle, Osa Oda Gizua, and brought in Dev for the secondary inoffensive line. Before the NFL Draft, pro football focus analyst Doughton Wasserman spotlighted one under the radar signing as linebacker Dre Greenlaw returning to the team. Greenlaw inked a one-year contract worth $7.5 million. This comes after he spent time with the Denver Broncos last season. The former fifth round pick out of Arkansas originally played his first six years in San Francisco. Fans and analysts see this as a smart reunion, especially pairing him back with all pro linebacker Fred Warner next year. The 49ers defense struggled last season, ranking 31st in overall PFF grade at 49.4. Greenlaw posted a career high-run defense grade of 86.9 in Denver, 10th best among qualifying

He hit a peak coverage grade of 82.6 back in 2022, but it fell to 64.4 this past year. This deal carries low risk and high reward for a familiar face turning 29 in May.
