Excellent, well sung everything just Bobby nailed it and then we went to September 20th 1970

at the Fillmore East easy wind that highlighted Bob's guitar playing just a blistering blistering lead guitar by Bob there for about three or four minutes and then Jerry steps in says no I can do better than that so the next thing I'm gonna play this is from June 15th 1983 this was right before the summer 83 tour those fantastic shows especially that one from three days later from Saratoga New York boy amazing show this is from Club Casino in Hampton New Hampshire this is Bobby in the Midnight so I don't think anybody's ever played this song on grateful debt and friends and this is our 25th year by the way it'll be August I think it was late August will be our 25th anniversary of grateful debt and friends so there you go but we're gonna play this this is from more Bob so enjoy this is a great this is one of my favorite Bob weir

This is a Bob Weir tribute show and like I said in the beginning There's just so much material that I can think of to play. This is going to go on for maybe two or three more episodes So, get ready. The first thing we started off with in this segment was Josephine and that is a Bobby in the Midnight song That was from June 15th, 1983 at the Club Casino in all places of Hampton New Hampshire

Has anybody been to Hampton New Hampshire? I wonder. But yeah, that was from the Bobby in the Midnight's album and actually Bobby was not named for Bob Weir It was Bobby in the Midnight's was actually named for Bobby Cochran And Phil G called me up and told me that and I did not know that so thank you Phil And then we went back to Grateful Dead. This is a great show by the way. May 10th, 1986 at the Frost We heard a great jammed out version of Big Railroad Blues and then a blistering version of Let It Grow If you listen, really careful of that. It's hard to believe that just a little over two months from then Jerry would have an abscess tooth and it would trigger a diabetic coma nearly costing him his life So man, 1986 was an underrated year I feel. There's some really good shows in 1986

I know it's pretty underrepresented in Grateful Dead and friends But I'm gonna play a little bit more of that and is to steal a line from Bob I want to tell you all a little story It was about 1990 and I was 21 And I knew a guy his name was Ico and he's a great guy, great guy And he was a tourhead and he would him and two other friends lived with each other And they ended up living in Portland, Beaverton for I don't know a couple of years But they would go on tour or two so great guys And this guy Ico he was really I mean he had a really impressive cassette collection And I didn't have hardly anything at the time and he would I would come over there two, three times a week And we would just sit and listen to Grateful Dead and he would just tell me You know tell me about aspects of what we're listening to and why this is really cool

And all that kind of stuff And the thing that I'm gonna play you is this is from the Frost This is from 51086 and he would rave about this estimated He would say this is the best estimated I've ever heard I mean Bob is just on fire And I just go okay yeah you know And I would listen to it and it just it made such an impression on me I thought wow This isn't amazing estimated So whenever I think of like the best estimated profits This is the first thing that I think of So I want to thank Ico for that So thank you Ico if you're out there His real name is Mike by the way but we always call him Ico So anyway there you go Now Bob Weir he was an amazing guitarist He was a very unique guitarist And according to my friend Bob Mankey It was Lowell George who taught him how to play the slide guitar

And if you listen if you listen to little feet You know in the 70s, late 70s like the waiting for Columbus album Which is one of the greatest live albums ever in my opinion It makes sense you think yeah that's it's possible that Lowell George maybe taught Bob Because their styles are very similar when you listen to him So but you know Bob he he was a master in the Grateful Dead At filling in the gaps And he had Jerry there and Jerry was such such a dominant presence And it was imagine being a rhythm guitarist And you got Jerry there who who doesn't mean to be dominant But his playing was so unique and so so over the top And so amazing he had to fill in the gaps So when I think of Bob This this is a really good example of Bob
