Here we go.
Broadcasting from Edmonton's Majestic Use Top Cap District.
It's okay.
If you're from a broken home, you'll be fine.
Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, it's not good.
Kids today with their in-line skates and their long boards
that roll over everything.
How are we weird and wild?
It works, but it's weird.
There's a line somewhere in there.
You got to be careful not to cross it.
God, that's awful.
It smells like smoke coming off someone's ass.
And how weird would that be if your neighbor's like,
hey, you want to come over for a tub and you're like,
you don't have a hot tub.
Oh, it's so good to laugh again.
My God, do people not know on that work?
This is the Gunner Andrew Show Podcast.
My name's Garner.
Welcome to the show.
Talking about sleep scores.
A lot of people tracking their sleep now
waking up first thing in the morning.
Did I win at sleep or did I lose?
That's one thing I never did with my watch
when I was wearing that thing.
Never tracked my sleep.
I was too busy charging my watch while I slept.
Had to make sure I got every single step
as soon as I got out of bed in the morning.
But we were just discussing the whole thing
about how we get so competitive
with either our partners, our co-workers, our friends.
The minute somebody says, oh, you're not sleep very well.
You try and want up them and tell them
how much worse your sleep was.
It's just a thing that's going on in the world now.
I don't think people used to do that.
It's a new thing.
Or talking about how busy you are.
And then listing off all the stuff
you have to do that day.
After you list the first that you kind of lose me,
I'm not really paying attention to the fact
that you have to be at the dentist at 3.30
and then school pickups at 4.15.
I just I lost a lost interest at dentist.
Veronica said, good morning.
I was listing yesterday to your sleep score chitty chat.
Garner, nothing will gaslight you more than your Apple watch
and subsequent sleep score.
I have had some awful nights
and my watch will tell me not too bad, 80% to 90%.
It makes a bad night of sleep even worse.
Like, am I losing my mind?
Between my watch saying it wasn't too bad
and my husband competing for last place,
it's not worth it.
Maintain your breakup with your Apple watch.
Happy Friday we made it Veronica.
Yeah, I'm maintaining the big, I got back together with her
for a week back in February.
When I went on vacation, I wore my Apple watch.
This is so, I get really, really tired
of coming back from vacation and people are always like,
where's your tan?
Where's your tan?
I tan.
And that's why I put my Apple watch back on
so I could get a tan line.
It seems so, my God, that's vain.
What is that?
I just wanted to be able to prove to people, see?
Anyway, it's still in the drawer, I'm not wearing it
and I'm not gonna start tracking my sleep.
You do that, though.
Like if that's your sport, sleep score,
you continue to do that.
And feel free to share your ski sleep score.
I might not reply to all these sleep.
We got so many pictures yesterday from people
screenshotting their sleep score,
taking a picture of their watch and sending us in.
It's impressive.
A couple of people are scoring 100%.
I don't know how you even do that,
but way to go, we're super happy for you.
This is the Garner Ender Show Podcast.
The hockey game, though, the one thing,
I love Jack Michaels and I love Louis DeBrosque.
I think they are just the,
I always hate it when playoffs come around
and then they're not on the game, all of a sudden.
It's weird, it's like having a substitute teacher.
I don't like that one bit.
But last night, Louis DeBrosque said something
that I perked up when he said it
because I thought, oh, that's gonna be my new thing.
Check out the load on that guy's stick or whatever it was.
I can't.
And then as it turns out,
again, I probably asked myself three times a day,
gone, are you naive?
Like a little echoey voice inside my head.
Apparently that means something else.
And I didn't know that.
So you grabbed the clip for me.
I want to sound like I know what I'm talking about
when it comes to hockey,
because I really know very little.
Okay.
And I would just want to, oh, that's an impressive load
on that guy's stick, meaning the flex.
This is Louis DeBrosque.
Roll the tape, please.
Roll it.
And this is a laser.
This is a great release.
Just a little hesitation.
Look at the load on that stick.
Look at the load on that stick.
Yeah, that sounds better.
I think that, I think what you said you heard
was impressive load coming off that stick.
Okay.
Just a little hesitation.
Look at the load on that stick.
That's almost what he said, right?
Okay.
Anyway, I apologize to the children
who may have been offended by that.
I had no idea I was being offensive,
but no idea whatsoever.
Is all forgiven?
I think it'll be forgiven.
Okay.
We had that talk off, Mike.
That, that, that really cleared it.
It's the Gunner Andrew Show podcast.
Welcome to the Garner Andrews show.
The show that stars you.
I went out for dinner at 4.30 yesterday afternoon
with some friends.
Ah, just live in the life.
When was the last time you went out for dinner
at 4.30 in the afternoon?
It was weird.
The place was busier than I thought it was gonna be.
And it wasn't just old timers like me.
It was young folks in there too.
I gotta do that more.
I got home, I was in Sherwood Park
and then I got all the way back to my place
and I think it was like 6.30, 20 to 7.
I was home already.
Managed to squeeze in an episode of my program.
I love early dinner.
I call it senior's dinner on 41.
I will take dinner at 4.30 or 5 over 7 pm any day.
Yeah, what's with those weird people
that eat at like eight o'clock at night?
No, what do you do all night before you eat?
Yeah.
I don't know, like I like,
there is a risk though of eating too early
because then all of a sudden it's eight o'clock
and you're ready for another meal
but you should actually be starting to wind down
at that point.
It gets a little bit tricky.
We've always eaten early, like 5 or 5.30.
Yeah, same.
It is the same for you.
Yeah.
Now is that because of kids?
Before three kids did you eat later?
I was thinking about that and like,
no, it's always been that way.
Yeah.
It's like right when one of us gets home from dinner.
It's starting, it's time for home from work.
It's time to keep dinner.
Somebody said, I'm 28.
I go to bed by 7.30, 8 pm, LMAO.
Really?
What time do you get up?
I'm just gonna have a conversation.
Yeah.
On the radio right now and wait for their reply.
If, like, it's that revenge bedtime.
We're like, you know what?
I don't want to sleep in, so I'm just gonna go to bed early.
Hey, Garner, my friend and I were sitting next to you
as you finished dinner with your friends last night.
The group that came in after you was a young couple
with their 95-year-old grandma.
She was eating dinner later than you.
Well, we're real happy for.
What's she got going on today?
I'm guessing nothing.
She didn't have to get out of bed at 4 a.m.
This is the Garner Andrew Show Podcast.
Has anyone else ever asked themselves,
how much money would it cost to disappear?
Like, sometimes I don't want to disappear,
but I find the whole thing fascinating.
And I don't want to Google it
because what if something happened to me
and people look at my history and they're always
thinking about disappearing?
I guess there's that incognito mode.
I could do that, maybe.
But I said, with $27,800,
that's the prize money right now on Mystery Word.
Is that enough to disappear?
Somebody said, my grandmother's brother faked his death
and got on a boat to America for $200.
We didn't even find out about it till she did 23 and me.
Oh.
You could disappear for $200.
That's pretty good.
I had no idea.
I thought it was in the tens of thousands of dollars.
Apparently I'm wrong.
This is the Garner Andrew Show Podcast.
My name's Garner, Taylor's here, you're here.
We were discussing, I don't know,
I guess maybe it's ways to just sort of
spice up your life a little bit.
It feels like everybody's in a bit of a rut right now.
Maybe you fantasize about disappearing,
smoke show out of your current life
and start somewhere else.
I don't know how much it costs to disappear.
I don't want to disappear.
Like I just, you know how I spiced up my life this morning?
I showered in the guest bathroom.
Wow.
I'm not even joking and it was, you know what?
It's like, hey, this is okay.
Where did we get these towels?
These are nice towels.
But did you just bring all your stuff with you?
I did.
Yeah.
And it's like, where did we get this soap?
This is better than the soap in my own shower.
It was weird, like it's, I don't know.
I felt like I was in a hotel or something.
I'm putting a new bathroom door on the ensuite bathroom
right now.
We got a glass one on there.
And every time I go in there to shower, you know early
in the morning and I turn up, turn on the light,
it lights up our bedroom like the surface of the sun.
And my beautiful bride has had quite enough of that.
So I just went and bought a solid door,
but I got to install that thing.
So that's why anyway, long story.
It was pretty good.
Pretty good to shower in the guest bedroom.
OK, you think you're going to stick to it?
No, no, no, I'll go back.
The door is this weekend's project.
I'm practically doing a home improvement show
in my own home right now.
But anyway, like I've always said,
variety is the gravy of life.
I think that's how the saying goes.
That's right, yeah.
So if you can't, I mean, if you have the luxury of having
another bathroom, visit it sometime.
Maybe that's all the spice your life needs.
Maybe you don't need to disappear completely.
Maybe the excitement you are craving
is right there under the roof.
Sleep in the extra bedroom if you have that.
Sleep on the couch tonight.
Try something new.
Go sit on the other side of the couch
when you watch Netflix.
Yeah, you know, and if you're one of those weirdos
that still eats at a table, like me,
sit in a different chair, face the other direction.
OK, we don't have assigned spots at our dining room table.
Is that weird?
That's chaotic.
Well, because there's always stuff on the table.
Yeah, so we just push it away and sit where you can.
You need to get assigned spots.
You need to get assigned spots.
You know what, do you have a round table, a square table,
or a rectangular table?
A rectangular.
So the rectangle table, here's what you do.
You and your beautiful bride sit across from each other
on the long side of the table.
And your gifted children sit at the short end of the table
so that two of you can pass stuff to them and help them out.
Yeah, because it's easier for you to reach them that way.
Problem is we let them pick.
And they're seven or four.
Oh, are you doing this soft parenting thing
or whatever it's called?
They're so bossy.
Wow.
OK, disappearing.
Yeah.
If you can't sit at a different chair at your kitchen table,
disappear.
I guess that's where we're at now.
Somebody said, and you know what?
I had forgotten all about this movie,
and I need to watch it again.
But listen to this, I read into the wild as a kid.
That was my motivation to disappear.
I legit found it so appealing to live life like Chris McCandless.
You know this story, right?
The guy that moved way, way up north into Alaska.
Yeah, Alaska.
And then lived, and I don't want to say too much,
in an abandoned city bus, in the middle of nowhere.
And it is an appealing movie to watch.
I got to revisit that.
I'm appealing to live life like Chris McCandless.
I was a fishing guide in the Arctic for years
because of that book.
I cannot tell you how much life experience one gains
by simply disappearing for a little bit.
Yeah, go somewhere else for a while.
If you can't go somewhere else, shower in a different bathroom.
It's the same thing.
That's going into the wild.
Yeah, wild shower.
President Barack Obama.
Virginia, we are counting on you.
Republicans want to steal enough seats in Congress
to raid the next election and wield unchecked power
for two more years.
But you can stop them by voting yes by April 21st.
Help put our elections back on a level playing field
and let voters decide not politicians.
Vote yes by April 21st.
Paid for by Virginians for Fair Elections.
The Garner Andrew Show Podcast.
My name's Garner.
Welcome to our little amateur radio show
here on Sonic, where we're talking about disappearing.
And if you can't disappear, just simple little things
you can do to bring some spiced-year life,
like me this morning, showering in the guest bathroom.
Oh, I live on the edge.
I live on the edge.
That's why you got all that extra pep in your step this morning.
I know.
And I'm doing it for a reason.
Got a bit of a Renault going on in the ensuite bathroom.
By Renault, I'm putting a new door up.
There's no door on it right now.
Nobody wants to hear me in the bathroom at 3.30 in the morning
without a door.
As morning coves and throat clears.
Oh, and worse.
Dad noises.
Staring into the mirror going, you're so ugly.
Anyway, that got dark.
But no, I enjoyed my guest bathroom shower this morning.
It was pretty good.
That soap that's in there is fantastic.
I don't know where that came from.
In those towels, they're rich and luxurious.
How come I'm not using those towels?
So if you can't disappear, try taking a shower
in the other bathroom.
If you don't have another bathroom,
we suggested sitting at a different chair at the table.
Yeah.
When you eat, sure, that's exciting.
That's something I do every night.
And then did you say, you responded to somebody?
Did you say Uncle Jesse, that toilet?
Yeah.
Oh, my God, that's disgusting.
Yeah, someone said, oh, I'll try something new.
I'll sit backwards on the toilet.
You know, Uncle Jesse's style.
Oh.
Would that work?
I don't think it would work.
I, I'm visually, let me chug this coffee
and I can tell you.
Oh, gross.
Somebody said, oh, here we go.
This person actually disappeared.
It cost me and my wife $5,000 to leave quietly
and move across the country and get started again.
I wrote back and I'm like, so you didn't tell anyone.
And they said, out of the whole family
and all of our friends, only my sister and grandparents
knew we were getting away from my parents.
Ooh, that's juicy.
I hope it works out OK.
Hope everything's good.
Somebody else said, back in Ontario,
you can get an authentic albeit false driver's license
for a cool 5 grand.
Real?
Couldn't you just make that yourself for like $32?
Yeah, there's no way Fogel had 5 grand to make that
McLeven ID.
He would have spent all the party booze money
on the fake ID.
That's crazy.
Anyway, how about you?
What are you doing to spice up your life now?
Just a little bit.
Because I think we could all use that.
Little change of pace.
Take a different route to work.
Do you drive the same way to work every day?
I've got two ways.
Yeah.
Sometimes I back into my garage just for the challenge.
Yeah, that's it.
Huh, Garner, when you look into the mirror in the morning,
you're not supposed to say anything
that you wouldn't say to someone you love.
I was joking.
I mean, I don't self-low without loud.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, like I keep that.
Like that's my internal dialogue.
Oh, yeah, it's deeper than out loud.
Oh, yeah.
The Garner Andrew Show podcast.
Maybe I'll reinvent myself as a minivan guy.
Yeah.
That's the spice I need in my life.
Do it.
I have no problem with minivans.
No problem whatsoever.
And I know you don't.
You're the president of minivan lovers international.
That's called minivan life.
Oh, minivan life, yeah.
I have the windbreakers on order.
And you're rolling in the Odyssey.
Yeah.
For some reason, I keep thinking you're in the Sienna.
No, it's the 2017 Odyssey.
And you had to buy a new filter for the built-in vacuum.
That's right, a nice back in business.
We were just punching away backs
that you were doing it, actually.
Yeah.
What did you eyeball up?
There's a 2022 Chrysler Pacifica top trim available.
Top trim.
Yeah.
All black, black on black wheels.
Oh, I like that.
A blacked out minivan.
Yeah.
28 grand.
Yeah.
Okay.
But still a lot of money to reinvent yourself.
Like if you don't win a radio contest,
you're like, how can I spice up my life?
I don't have enough money to disappear.
And I kind of like my family.
So that might be holding you back.
There's little things you can do.
I showered in the guest bathroom this morning.
Yeah.
Really changed it up.
And it was exciting.
It was fresh.
It was new.
I like this open there.
It's not going to be my main shower anymore,
but every now and again, I'm probably
going to cross the hallway and go shower over there.
Lisa said, spicing up your life with small slash mild changes
and doing something different in your day
is actually a tool for helping with depression.
Spice on.
That's how I'm going to sign off every day now.
We're like, chantels coming in next.
Everybody, spice on.
I like that.
Pretty good.
Somebody said back in 2017, my teenage child
was going through some rough times
and was absolutely relentless.
And my brother was staying with me at one point.
I actually looked into faking my death
and starting again in Paris with a new name, 10 years younger.
I would have had to knock out a few teeth
or lop off a foot or a hand.
Why?
Yeah.
Oh, to change your look, maybe.
I settled for parking a few blocks away
from my house every day after work
and would just sit in my car for a few hours
and shamelessly smoke and drink canned wine while I did that.
Wow.
OK, I hope everything's going OK now.
You're OK now?
That sounds like you were going through some stuff there.
And I hope you're good.
Wow, OK.
Quentin says, when I want to feel like I'm not
stuck in some sort of groundhog day terror,
I go for a long walk with no phone and no wallet.
I like the no wallet part.
It's kind of mysterious.
Quentin, why no wallet?
That way, no one has your identity.
You can start up.
That's right on the edge, running away forever.
It's just like running away for an hour.
It's running away adjacent.
Yeah.
It's got running away glimpses.
Yeah, but you're not fully committing.
OK, let's get a little hit.
Yeah, keep them coming.
And everything's fine.
It's like people are, is everything OK?
No, I'm good.
I just every now.
It's the same reason I was messaging with somebody else.
It's the same reason why we watch these tiny homes
shows on TV or we look at tiny homes online and that it's
not because we want a tiny home.
It's like we want to imagine could we do that?
Yeah.
We like to think we could.
I guarantee you you can't.
What'd it be like if I didn't need all of this stuff?
Yes, I think it's all about shedding stuff.
I think that's what it's about.
You were listening to the Garner Andrew Show podcast.
The Garner Andrew Show here on Sonic.
But the top of my list of exciting things
can't wait to get home and get my laptop out
and finish writing that absolutely glowing
review of my new shop coat, shop smock, whatever you call it.
But I bought on Amazon.
Oh, I'm loving it.
That's where I'm at my life right now.
Writing reviews of articles of clothing, not even
exciting pieces of clothing.
I've never written an Amazon review before.
But it's one of those things we were talking about on the show
yesterday.
There are people out there that review almost everything they buy.
They review every restaurant they go to.
Good and bad.
It's real easy to write negative reviews of things.
We're all really good at this garbage.
We're all good at that.
But can you write a positive review of something?
Would you?
Somebody messaged and said, my husband loves leaving
Google reviews.
He generally only leaves positive reviews.
He's close to 10,000.
He's reviewed so many things that he gets 20,000 plus views on them.
I'm the bad one.
I'm pretty sure one of my reviews helped close a business.
Oh, that's from Mandy.
How about you?
Are you reviewing stuff online?
Is that how you're filling your evenings?
You're listening to the Garner Andrew Show podcast.
Garner Andrew show, the show that stars you.
We're talking about those people.
And I'm glad you exist.
The people that review stuff online, whether it's on Google or Amazon or wherever.
You buy a product and then you go back and review it.
I like that.
It helps me inform my decision and make a solid purchase.
Somebody said, normally, I only leave positive reviews.
However, recently I left a review about a movie theater that has been dirty every
single time I've gone.
I felt bad, but also I'm hoping my review and the hundreds of others with cleanliness
complaints will change something.
Otherwise I feel I would rather share positive experience than dwell on the bad.
Yeah, you, I mean, you have to leave good reviews and bad reviews.
Everyone leaves.
Everyone's really good at a negative review.
But hardly anyone ever goes out of their way to say something good.
And I feel though like you shouldn't feel bad because as long as your negative review
is legit and it's not petty or only applies very, very specifically to you.
And if you leave a good split, a good reviews and bad reviews, you're good.
You don't have to worry about anything.
It's like when people complain to me about this show or the music or something we're talking
about, if they have a rich, rich history of only negative reviews, I don't give it
as much weight as someone that gives both negative and positive reviews.
I think that's the way the world works, right?
Oh, this one.
Garn, my husband reviewed a set of drink coasters on Amazon, five stars, and he raved about
the quality of them.
He's the same guy that when I met him, he didn't own a bed.
He just slept in a sleeping bag, no pillow on his apartment floor.
He's come a long way.
Why do you even say about drink coasters?
These coasters are flat and protect my coffee table from scratches and water stains, five
stars.
I sound like I'm mocking him.
Who's buying drink coasters in the first place?
Nobody, the set of drink coasters that you have in your home right now, I guarantee you,
they were a gift from somebody.
Someone else buys them for you.
Because if you're sitting there in your own home and you're like, I don't have a drink
coaster to set my drink down, huh?
That's when you use a magazine or the pizza 73 flyer.
You don't go on Amazon and buy yourself a set of drink coasters, or am I doing life
wrong?
