Girls Chat: The Things We’re Figuring Out as We Go

Pepper & Me

About this episode

The boys are away, so this week it’s a quieter, more candid kind of episode.

On Around the Dinner Table podcast, Cherie Metcalfe and Em sit down for a thoughtful girls-only chat — covering everything from our Chic or Bleak takes, to the idea of “glimmers” — those small, grounding moments that bring a bit of light into everyday life.

We also put the viral lemon juice and olive oil shot to the test (with mixed feelings), navigate the surprisingly tricky task of what to buy a 10-year-old, and touch on the very real experience of still not quite feeling confident with makeup.

It’s honest, slightly unfiltered, and a reminder that most of us are still figuring things out as we go.

Welcome back to the Paper Me podcast. You're here for a special edition today. It's Girls Only. Girls Channel. I'm quite excited for this. I have a funny feeling it's going to be the best podcast ever. Well yeah it's like being in the car with you and I. Fine you've got rid of everyone else, you've got rid of them. Like oh finally we can talk. Yeah, even we won't. I mean I cancelled after last week's chat. I don't know. What off me? Man this bed. Oh, cams gone. Longing's gone. Yeah cams away. Longs away. So yeah just us today which is absolutely fine with me. No complaints. We'll kick off with a catchap shall we? We've got our produced, these like dots and balls. It's so lovely. Okay. Yeah anything you wanted to start with? Well we can talk about past making. Well yeah why don't you open with past making?

Past making. I've noticed you have been doing more influency stuff on your screen. Oh I said you would. Did I say what? Yeah maybe you were like oh maybe I should do some more of my Instagram. I just I need a head to do so Amy who does our accounts release that board game the own day she rebranded from Andy to own day and I felt like I should she you know I make her life very painful because I never have a seat and she like comes and tries to talk to me and I'm like no you've got any time for me to do that I'm like not for you. No like so I was like oh I better do I better do a nice real of us doing so she does the wishes on the tissue paper and you like them and the wish flies in the air which the kids absolutely love and the building connections board game which was quite nice actually. Yeah I just read the back of it. Yeah it's nice. Yeah you actually don't need the board you just you can do the questions and sort of click through the questions if you wanted a more casual like date night experience I think but probably nice for

yeah anyone it's nice to hear um the kids do it because you kind of look at it and you're like all those are kind of adult questions but it's amazing what they come out with. Yeah the question was like oh what's one way you would change your life and he's like oh I need to stop getting so angry and you know oh please losing my temper and things like that so. Oh well. It's quite you can see there you're quite emotionally mature by asking those questions you can get good convoy outs. Yeah perfect perfect you. I'm taking in the car actually as well like if you've got a long drive to do the questions in the car. Yeah. It's a good time when everyone's really focused and calm and like yeah so on day oh A-E-D-A-E on day um yeah she went hard on that didn't she. So yeah I did a video about that and then I saw on I we found this check on TikTok doing the past night and it's called family date night and they do it once a week they do a family date night. Oh cute. So they'd done like painting nights they set up the table they have flowers and like they did like a paint and sip and they all painted each other and then they did it pizza night

and they all made pizzas at the table and they've done like making fairy houses and stuff and then she did a pasta one so that's why I got the idea. What I didn't go with all the decorations and all the like they had ordered like aprons and chefs hats and you know a hundred things it's like I don't need that you actually the flower in the egg is brilliant though. Yeah it looked perfect yeah it was really good actually it's um it was probably the perfect length of time for an activity and then yeah we just made I just made some meatballs in a piece of sauce because are you are you a dinner at the table family yeah absolutely yeah yeah yeah I think that's so important my family was always like that as well. Yeah same yeah yeah I think um oh it's just good habit I yeah and to like stop and eat properly yeah and actually talk no distractions and yeah and the kids have been they're quite good because they've been playing on the road so they've been sounds real good yeah oh come on play on the road so we live in a color sack and every night

they go out on the road on their bike yeah good is with all the kids all straight and it's kind of dream result because they're not in the house yeah yeah I have to go pull them all back for dinner and I'm like I don't know I was like 20 houses on like oh my god I don't even know which house yeah yeah oh that's a dream though how did the coldest say yeah kind of a kiwi dream yeah totally don't really really lovely I um I don't know my name is that well because I always I kind of hide because I always feel bad because I'm like because they call the noise I'm like some noisy rowdy pain painful one but they're all pretty lovely yeah um yeah so we did the pasta and I tried them to the kids and they were super into it so well might try and do it once once a week or once a quarter yeah you should keep cheering that because I bet I will yeah other people you know it's would like to apply that it's a nice thing to watch isn't it it's not like yeah when it's not just selling yeah yeah well I want to do it now the pasta night yeah good yeah do a little date night one other family yeah but that's nice date night and yeah I was thinking as I made it I was

because I made the pesto from the garden yeah that looked beautiful um it cost nothing yeah so true just make some nice sauces and yeah yeah yeah very yeah good idea way to have a little date night yeah um I went to special mention we had burger well tonight and I have been I've been doing this little I've been taking my kids for a treat on Fridays because I have to bribe them because we get up real early and it's real dark right they could drag in them out of bed yeah so every morning I had to ask them 18 times so I was like right if you get out of bed jump out and I don't have to ask you for the whole week on Friday we'll go get a coffee before school that's cool yeah we're going get a coffee in a hash brown at Canary's right through I haven't seen that until you put it on your story oh yeah no one has no so they are in lantern in the fireflies oh and it's 13 bucks for like breakfast muffin a coffee in a hash brown that's how standard it's really good value yeah I don't know how much like McDonald's but I can't get it similar no way and I reckon it's more

way nicer and like nice proper coffee oh my gosh so it's at the weir plaza that's at the island oh at the island okay yeah yeah oh right by the plaza um so that's our Friday treat and people discovered charlotte's yeah she tells me about charlotte I have 30 seshes of charlotte's at home so how do you know that's how many you've got because I've got two full boxes box what yeah we'll hold it and find some more so now I must have yeah she's got a lot of stuff to do and she makes them on the coffee machine well Lisa she's been getting up early and having her tylas oh my god I know I know she's so funny like like things nice yeah yeah I don't know if I've created a mulch or a she's gonna have to work hard when she's older yeah yeah she will yeah well the way they do get taught that like we talk about it just drill it into the mail yeah no me and my friends were sitting at as a guy the other day is a guy yeah as a guy yeah the first time I've been there we didn't actually get any furthest can't get it about no we went go to the movies and we

didn't have time oh yeah we're a bit late um but we were talking about how when your parents grow up to a certain standard and then you have to stop paying for things yourself and you're like oh shit how do you gotta go little bit packers when I go traveling and if you stay in a hotel oh that's true I didn't have that growing up so there you go I do I often wonder I'm like oh god am I like is this bad or good interesting no I don't think it's bad or good because I think you know for me it probably has set myself with higher ambition and standard for myself because you know I grew up with luxurious things for sure and then even when I went and landed in the UK and I was just surrounded by bazillionaires yeah you know it made me it wasn't my life but I was living that life but I never had to pay for it yeah and I always had to bring myself back down to earth and remember like this isn't my life this is not my money and then when I left you know I wasn't going on bloody private boats and you know like 500 holidays a year and

heavy up breakfast and lobster for dinner you know like just insane yeah I had that on the Sephiroth as well yeah you have that lifestyle without but I yeah even then I wasn't like super into it I didn't know anything about clothes or handbags or yeah so different but you know I've gone out we would go out for dinner maybe three times a year yeah yeah be the absolute highlight of my year yeah you would like oh well that was your biggest reward and I would love it yeah so much and now it's like we go out for dinner all the time yeah but it's not just I know it's not just me all my friends are the same with me yeah and we're so social yeah like all weekend visiting a people at our house or at other people's houses yeah so it's not like a treat or like a big deal but that's nice yeah nice to be part of a community and that's just how people live now yeah 100% well not if you're lucky enough to be able to do that and I guess for your for your you know you get you can give your kids that so why would you not you know you've

worked so hard to be able to be in a position to take your kids out for dinner you know I don't you know it's important to keep from a level on it yeah it's okay people's birthday this week she's turning 10 yeah for me it's going to be 10 in three months so yeah people was first and I don't know what to get her for a birthday because we're very um no screens yeah still but I know she's it's all she wants yeah so not all of our friends but I was thinking I was thinking I'd said to Matt how about we get her like she's earned an iPad because she's so sensible she's so sensible she would literally use it for learning and I'd trust her with it but it will cause an absolute uproar in my house and I can't be bothered dealing with it yeah no no we can't because we've said no to everything else yeah um it's the curse of being the oldest child because you know I wasn't allowed technology until I was 15 yeah and then my sister's you know as they would have been straight away you know they were younger you know my my sister probably got a phone at

12 you know and it was it's just the curse of being the oldest isn't it so I got her a candle last year yeah yeah birthday and that was the best gift we've ever got near for sure like she would have read 16 novels on that thing it's like she's been through a whole Harry Potter series multiple times and she loves it because I can see yeah I can like I don't mind you spending the my back through a book see that yes like such a wholesome thing but yes I'm a bit lost I don't know she's not close she's not into shows she's yeah nothing I want some slime or some squishies I'm like I'm not no so I don't know what I honestly don't know what to do I might have to give me money which is kind of lame yeah yeah actually if anyone's got any ideas oh I've got no answers here what I need to buy her is the computer from 1996 like yeah my craft and like if people think I'm bullied my sweet oh yeah I know oh well you have to let us know how you go

but then you do think Matt said I'll get us some nice shoes I do buy them she's got nice shoes because I would buy them nice shoes and and she's in a nice hoodie yeah they want when they need to close I guess oh she's going to intermediate when does she go to intermediate who's called her who's called intermediate there oh because I was gonna say I feel like it wasn't until I went to intermediate I even became aware of shoes and clothes and you know this hierarchy of brand new things I did not know until I went to intermediate I really know neither absolutely not but I do remember my first label thing which was a pair of globe and they were black and grey and they had green globe on the low chunky boy yeah and I I reckon I got four or five years other shoes wow oh they were cool they were they were that absolute height I have one of those scooters MGP scooters and they were the scooters that everyone is going to want it but it came with like a fake it came with like a badge

on the scooter so you knew it was like an MGP but the kids used to go around stealing the badge off the scooters because I had a real MGP would know badge on it because someone stole my badge that was my first kind of I think awakening to Ferrari for a scooter different like different time zones because you would have been what like even ten years after me yeah it's cool yeah rust letterly that could he had a rust letter that could he and it got stolen it kept oh and mom she was like hunting it was labeled oh it was labeled it was labeled and she's like I know it was those girls it was like the biggest deal in the world oh okay all right on track that's kind of a catch-up yeah pastor oh I was just gonna you were just talking about here oh yeah because I went to dark back to dark and I forgot why I left dark no I don't have any grays oh I have no grays but um it grows back blonde right and you look bald right that probably was looking at

why I was looking at my video last night and I was like oh my god you have to keep on top of it like every four or five weeks are you quite blonde yeah yeah very fair oh you are too yeah and and the re-rood okay she looked bald and I'm like why do you go back to brown just oh I've had a natural color for like quite what a few years and then before that it was always dark oh okay and then I think I just went lighter and lighter and lighter and then I realized once you like don't have grays anymore it's probably like oh this is so much easier and then we did that for a few years and now I'm like no but it looked nice dark oh shoot yeah so that's a cock-up so that's like most people you know most people I feel like want to be blonde or want to go lighter you know most people go lighter but I've been like the people I follow online and as soon as they go dark I'm like that looks nice yeah I love chocolate around here same oh I love it and I I really dislike that everyone puts highlights in their chocolate brown here because I really like it

you've got chocolate brown you should leave it they're so beautiful yeah I actually agree with that hmm blonde pain frizzy blonde gingerie times hi my hair and slip it back because I can't do anything out of it yeah well I don't know what I just I'm just oh dolly ma I do think it looks nice so I did like your brown move yeah I know it's gonna be and cuz my cuz my cousin Deena she does my hair she's moved to Hamilton so now it's it's a night me because I have to drive to Hamilton a bit stop Deena I know I know yeah her I want to go to her she's got beautiful blonde here she does have beautiful blonde here yeah she does a good job she does a head massage real hard though oh you don't like that no I don't like it I love it I love it I love I could you someone could just like scratch me oh no I don't like it all day that's weird all right we'll move to chic to bleak yeah I saw someone doing it on tiktok the other day

and I sent it to you oh did you have some and rating coffees are these coffees chic I am I sent you that explanation of the English accent oh yeah I love I watched that whole video probably five times cuz they're so different so the Liverpool's a scowler and then the London one and then there's like Irish Scottish yeah heaths yeah so interest it's quite confusing when you listen to it what is it like can I have a drink of water please I think yeah I only need to put in a row and you know I think you could say it and I was actually insane so that's one that's like y'all can I last water please or something oh I can't remember that I heard someone speak like that London once I was like are you are you I'm a movie you know the movies y'all um so I just thought we'd run speed it up we could speed up this top I can it's like a quick but I thought I

could bring a list and you could bring a list and then and then like quick fire them but yeah I probably you probably didn't want to see my list no I haven't read I haven't read this one so I will try and do it quick okay I know we've talked about this before but smoking ciguis is like it's yeah I'm gonna get cancel for saying this it's become quite chic again self-problading like I asked the piece of the face and I looked over on the hill and I saw the stone with his legs crossed laying on the hill I know I'm yeah and he smoked that and I'm like fuck you look cool yeah no I was gonna also say chic but only when you're overseas yeah okay why are you can when you're smoking ciguis when you're overseas it's so chic maybe if we I think the thing is it's like I know you know you know it's terrible for you when you know it's terrible it's not cool to be a smoker oh no make that almost state that statement it is absolutely bleak if you're to be a smoker yeah yeah but if you're in a feisty and you maybe think oh go on

the vape you know what do you know I reckon just have a question say that oh 100 percent have a ciggy over a vape yeah I reckon I vape sorry I'm so sorry because I I will get canceled but vaping is so bleak yeah I would wait for food for you know I especially if you're a man and it's beer meds smoke a ciggy don't like suck on a vape put that in the mess yeah yeah literally real men don't vape a fucking mango fuzz peach that is bleak they have a slim ciggy and they smoke the whole pack yeah and then and then you never see them again cheek for some reason it's like that he's just moving drinking like it doesn't like because usually if I'm sober someone's looking like yeah I can't breathe you will pass us yeah but like if you're drunk we're like yeah in Europe yeah yeah even in Japan like the Japanese guys smoked and I was like

wow you look so bad like a good way do you know what else is bleak though is I'm smoking in the airport rooms oh my god in the rooms it's like a big hot box it's the weirdest thing you don't even need a ciggy if you go in that room okay smoking invokes is bleak apart from sometimes yeah when you when you're gonna treat yourself yeah in your right place right time yeah read the room yeah I can't wait for a thin one yeah um okay frank greens bleak oh I have one but they are the most impractical drink bottle do you think I do you knew in the love mine but I don't care if it's practical or not it's not very true yeah true what's more he's not practical what's about to be bleak now I reckon bleak the the stora's moldy the mouthpieces ring they're always scratch the deep hood yeah okay you know what it actually doesn't keep my water that cold okay fair so bleak bleak all right fair enough done with them I got the kid these color changing ones for Christmas well that's bleak oh not if you're bloody seven

the color changing frank greens excuse me so it changes color when it's cold yeah it's ruined my life you know why because now every morning they load their drink bottles with ice so that the color of the drink bottle will change right they changed right so do you think there's ever an ice cube left for me no I've had to put them on ration this is the biggest problem in my life at the moment is I just want a cold drink I'm like I deserve a cold drink now like why what oh my my cold drink I'm like I am at least even years off with my whole life I will very had all I want is a cold drink like I think I just I pay the bills I cook the dinners I do you watching one you know leave me some ice I hope you need a putty drink bottle with the fridge you do but at the top of no it needs to be ice oh I probably drink it three times during in the day, so I need it all right, so that the eyes keeps it cold, so yeah the colour change ring bottles was a bit of a mistake, because now they know when they're not cold,

so I can't give you away with it, and they take them to bed, they'll all full of it with eyes again, so I've made it around for a gin and tonic, oh no, no eyes, oh that's nothing at all, it's a pump bottle's been cool because I thought those massive pump bottles were cool as when you were at school, oh well that was, yeah no that's multi-use signal, microplastics, maybe that'll be like smoking and we're like we're not terrible but like maybe one day it'll be so rare that it'll be like a plastic game, a plastic game, okay all right that's fair we can see front-ends of bleak, I have to make a shameful confession that I have Uber Eats, two days of ice to my door, at least four times, we need to get that from, super rare, I don't even know where it comes from, I go, yes it comes from, and I'm wow, I don't even care, like everyone's having a camera, like

I've got the girls around for a wine, and there's no eyes, they can't even have a single thing and I'm like, and then I'm like come back and go like two bags of wine, that's kind of, that's kind of a boss move, that's kind of like, yeah older and nice, you know no one's complaining, that's for sure, no I know, everyone wants a cold drink, I like that, that's cool, so like a party shirt, that's cheek, cheek, cheek, all I wanted, I got this beautiful fridge, it makes ice automatic, it's always nice, fresh ice, and those bloody kids, so Matt and his kids have moved in with us, and that is, to be fair that's my only, that is my main issue, nice choice, in my, in my house we had ice trays, I know God, I imagined that, not refill ice tray, you were the dog box, yeah, the thing is none of them used to care about cold water, until they all see me caring about it, right, and they just like, Matt was like, got it, Matt's house, they would never have a cold water, like it's room

temp all the time, but like, you know they see everyone else, and it's just a big thing, so they absorb what, what you do, and they don't know what they do, you all need to pull your head to, like in your house, I know, I know, how about some tap water, what is this mainland, with the lid pack, don't go to, don't go to mums and say that, oh my god, don't introduce them, ice water, string bottles, and Matt picked the other day that have water filters built into them, oh that, filter your, the e-colour out of your water, oh I like it, if you don't drink bottle from a stream, and then you have to filter it out, you got to water from out, I don't care about tap water, I'll drink it, but I do think about those pipes, the inside of those pipes sometimes, what pipes, the water pipe, the inside of our water pipes look like, probably the inside of my drink bottle looks, probably for the same, probably, but we have water, we have water filters

that we do, we do, yeah, don't accept it up, I don't really care, as long as it's cold, okay, um, curly fries, oh so chic, you're like, yes I bring a love to you, okay, all right, no, no, really, more surface area on the fry, more crisp, yeah, it's not chic, no it's not chic, no it's not, it's not, actually if you think you're like, no it's not, you're a prego, having a little piece of martini, I'm having a bit steak with some peppercorn sauce, and you know, I'm having a curly fry, and if you get a real long one, like a small handful of french fries, it's quite chic, yeah, okay, I agree with you, pomefrips, the staking chips, I agree, yeah, using two computer screens instead of one, oh my god, do you know what's so funny, oh that's you're going to ask Lauren, if I could get a second computer screen, you know, that would actually make sense for you, it would actually be beneficial for my job, either saying, yeah, it would be very beneficial for your job, geeks, geeks, geeks, geeks,

you're going to never let them know your next move, if you just have a laptop, you can pick it up, be out of there, or mac, never see what it is, it's like six screens or something, I'm like, what are you doing, come on guys, you're making a screen, the ban in your house, and he has six screens, screens for him, and I've just got one, three inch phone screen, yeah, to do the same job, we were resourceful, you know, I know, either we boys just have our laptop in our phone, yeah, no extra screen, no, I'm a, you know, minimalist, I don't really like having lots of things, no, no, but I do need one, I think long, I mean it is chic when they operate, smoothly, you know, yeah, I guess so, I guess it's using it, I don't really want to be on a laptop, oh, this is a good one, soft serve, because it is back, and it is chic, it's fine dining restaurants are serving soft serve, that's true, yeah, this is true, and I, I can love a soft serve, and it's so good, it used to be no good, and now chic, olive oil and sea salt flakes on it, yeah, soft serve, chic, um, this got flavors of things,

now, for example, hot cross buns, yeah, now bleak, bleak, it's not even nice, it's just shit, it's shit, it's shit, it's shit, it's shit for you, it's shit for you, look shit, I've had enough, it's just on this series, caramel's way better, like a caramel is so much caramel chic, yeah, yeah, um, fried eggs, um, this is another one that I feel like used to be real bleak, bleak, bleak, bleak, bleak, bleak, bleak, and then I feel like that's going to come, it's going to make its way back in, well do you know what, I actually reckon most people go through phases with eggs, right? Right now I'm in hard, I'm in hard boiled egg mode, oh god, that's yeah, like hard boiled, and do you know what, I feel like eating them with no salt, oh no, I don't know, I don't know what's wrong with me, that is not okay, what's happening, I'm probably the wrong person to ask, why are you doing that? I don't know, if I see a name in the morning, oh you can only find it though, like we make handbags, oh we could make a necklace, oh

I've got a car salt, we've got, I want a little, you know, there's some hot sauce at least, some seashoyle or something, oh no, no that is not okay, you'll get eggic, I know, I can only do like three or four days of bored egg and then I've got eggic, big time, I know, but you you like Friday eggs? No, I don't, well I don't, but I just feel like it, it's not, it's not had, it's quite, had it's day yet, because you're Friday egg, and if you know what, it actually probably requires the most skill, do you think, to do a great Friday egg, because you want the bottom, crispy, but not too crispy, right, not too crispy, we're going to be hard and true in your mouth, and then you want the top runny, but not snotty, so you actually have to give it a little bath with a bit of butter or something, yeah, maybe not, see I, I find my Friday egg, I actually I flip it for the last second, and then that's the, that's the, that's the perfect egg, a Friday egg's hard to make look nice as well, isn't it? Yes it is, so I don't think it's,

does require a skill, I don't think it's chic yet, but I just feel like it might become chic Friday, I would have called it the easier seat to make, oh but I like scrambled, you're about easy, yeah, if you've got a good pan, and a bit of butter, scrambled is so easy, like cafe scrambled is nice, homescramble, when people actually just like stir it up, and then it's like, so you, you just had to chuck another butter in at the end and like, you know, the US, you know, it should be really easy, we need to bring a graph next week of all the variations of eggs, yeah, and rate it, rate them on a scale, I just think Friday eggs hasn't had enough, like it's not had its time in the sun yet, no it hasn't, yeah, Friday got a stake at the restaurant, yeah that's not, that's what we need to take that perception away from it, maybe it's not as good, maybe I'm just been thinking about it too much, you know, maybe I'm just, I don't understand what

goes on in my mind, honestly, all right, that's my shakoblek, have you got any things? No, none different, that was fine, that was probably enough for that segment anyway, moving on, what's happening, we'll do this quick thing, what's happening at people are me, we have the launch of our smashed seash, smashed seash, it's the seash oil barbecue sauce, no hot honey barbecue sauce, sorry, I knew there was a, it's called smashed because it's three products smashed together, which is right, seash oil honey in our barbecue sauce, okay, it's a sweet seash smashed with our sweet bourbon barbecue sauce, okay, and it is real nice, I'm really excited, I haven't tried it yet, it's very nice because it's not quite as spicy as the hot honey, and then it's got that nice tang of the barbecue sauce, it's perfect for a pool pork, would be it's dreams, it's true, or a burger, it's going to be mean, I think it's going to be one of those things that everyone loves, so, that's what I think barbecue sauce is

very versatile sauce, it is, it's got a new one loves barbecue sauce, a nice journey of the flavour pallet, it's like, you eat it, right, and you go barbecue, and then you get sweet, and then you get spicy at the end, which is quite a nice experience I reckon, it's putty on of the sauce, smashed seash, smashed seash, it's called, which is great, and now we're just adding to the seash family, so he's coming out on the fifth day, but it's going out on people's post. Oh, Luke told me I wasn't allowed to tell anyone. Oh, no one listens to this podcast, don't worry. Let the people know. No, well, they might want it. They might. When does this podcast come out? It's okay. Straight away, we've got to produce it out, I still put it up. Sorry. Yeah, but, I haven't done all the grudges. Oh, do you still put it up? Oh, good, okay, well there's some, oh, all right. At least you want to. You may as well finish off the job, Michael. Okay, we'll let you, oops, all right, we'll pretend you didn't hear that.

If you, well, that's exciting. It's exciting. Well, it's exciting, and it's coming out, and people need to get. No, I know, honestly, I feel like, no one listens to this podcast, I don't worry about it. Well, no, but they're going to silence. Golden eggs. We did the Golden eggs again. We've got like 30 prizes. I wasn't allowed to say that either. Why not? I don't know, because we have to be careful what we say. Why? I wasn't allowed to say when, wasn't allowed to say prize, wasn't allowed to say how many. That's not Instagram, there's no, I was supposed to say. Hey, what, even we want, that's the whole point of having podcast. Yeah, there's no rules. Well, no one, this is not verbatim. Okay, okay, the jury is out. Why can't we say the first sort of solitude, say the seventh? A whole stack of gifts. Oh, our goaling, and. Why, uh, if you make an order, if you make an order, you might find a golden egg in your, in your, in your, in your, and your, and then you might receive a gift.

And we've done, so last year we did, why are there all those rules? Who's making all these rules? Because you're not allowed to say all these things, because in it, I don't know. Oh, okay, all right, thank you. All right, um. The lottery. Yeah, the lottery rules, that's what it is, they, something like that. Um, um, golden eggs, but we did the first year, this is our third year doing it, because it's great. Yeah, the first year we did like, seven or eight big prizes. Right. And then the last year we did the seven or eight big prizes, and then like, a handful of little prizes. And now we've got like 30 prizes. Yeah, so many, so many cool things. So lots of, we'll do lots of olive oils, pantry reset, petrol voucher. We're doing a meat cooking, a dinner for eight people. Yeah, that's cool. So if you pay us an order from tomorrow, Wednesday, to the Tuesday following, Wednesday to Tuesday, six days, if a person order over, he's going to draw to win a golden egg. And he says, you should be very quiet for us. So you've got a good chance, great chance.

Good odds, my odds, be every in your favour. So that's happening. And then we are seven days out from fat god launched. Seven days to launch, the excitement levels are building. They are building. Yeah. People are really excited about this. They are, right. People are like, yes, people are fizzing. Yeah, they want the bottle. They want the olive oil. And what I was looking to earn last night, because she goes, oh, I've just tried your oil. It's spectacular. No, I want it from Cloudy Kitchen. And I was like, yeah, I know. She's a big foodie. She's like, I'm an olive oil connoisseur. I'm like, hope that everyone feels the same way as you and I are. Like everyone's at the moment, they're buying it for the bottle. Yeah, I will once they get it, and they understand the oil, and they fill in over the oil. You know, you come back for the oil, don't you? What is it about olive oil that's kept in the glass? Oh, I just, I mean, it's not real. Oh, no, because I know that the sun has an element, but it's not that it means it's not real olive oil. It just means that the sun will damage it. Well, it just keeps it protected from light.

Yeah, any light hits up people in me product, isn't it, Faye? Yeah, yeah. I don't know how much there is to it. It's just very, it's just very cool at the moment. It is a big thing there. So good oil just released a sunflower oil at a bottle. But I think I don't know anyone else in New Zealand's got it out yet. So that's cool. Yeah, we'll see how it goes. One week, I'm very excited. And we'll be doing some fun cooking. My beautiful pesto with it last night. Yeah. Real yum. I named it the Amazon. So I put this chunk of like sharp cheddar in it. Yeah. And it was like real creamy. It was so delicious. Fresh herbs. OK, cool. What's this? Lemon and olive oil was shot test. So well, I have seen this on TikTok and traveling around online. And apparently, a shot of lemon juice, I think we do half lemon juice, half olive oil. Yeah. And a shot of that every day for two weeks is supposedly supposed to repair your skin. Or make your skin, or it's good for your skin. And it is good for your skin. Wow. Well, I guess it's lemon antioxidant.

You're supposed to recent. I don't know. Greened. Well, I don't know. I don't know what it is about it. But they recognize it cleans your skin. So I haven't tried this olive oil yet. So I think we should give it a go. Well, it's got, olive oil has even tried fat gone. Don't do that much. I'll throw up. Oh. That's so strong. Do like that into the air. Yeah. You're not just going to have 16 mores of olive oil. Yeah, but the calories don't count if it's good for your skin. OK, so glad I wasted my time going on run this morning. I like what long skin or no? No. I want to be skinny. I just prefer to enjoy the olive oil, I guess, because I love it that much. I have such a respect for it. I've been like, really, it's like a slow enjoying olive oil. Yeah. Well, this is, but this is not enjoying about this thing. This is what the people want to see, though. OK. Well, raw review. Raw review, she has.

Whoa. Oh, Michael. Oh, that's nice. You're going to shut my bones. It's like left a coating on my lips. Well, because I think, right, the olive oil goes down your throat first, because it sits on the top. And then you're like followed by the lemon. So it's like very smooth and velvety. And then it's like sour. That's quite nice. It is eminent as salad dressing. It's a tree salad dressing. It's an epitome of salt. We could have, like, what a salad dressing. Yeah, it's salad dressing. Yeah, we put a cracker paper on it. We could have tossed that through a bag of rocker and had a really nice salad, you know. I was like, here in some blue cheese. Yeah. And then it's not the same. It's a better way to do it. I don't know. We were done for two weeks now. I, um, yeah, I like the taste, because it's beautiful olive oil and lemon juice. Well, there's nothing to not like about it. I don't see any harm. No, but have you ever seen people enjoy it? Like, let's take our time and enjoy it. But have you not seen people doing oil pulling

in oil shots happening? I have seen the oil pulling. It was quite big a while back. And then I saw the anti-oil pulling. People come out of the oil. Yeah. People say, like, lines you'll get for the day. Well, there's also 200 calories, so I don't know. Oh, that's good calories, though. That's the thing, like, both those are healthy ingredients. Oh, I'm, like, I joke about the calories, and I'm not particularly worried about that, like. How am I meant to put that into my fitness pal? I just rather enjoy the calories. Yeah, I see what I would love to have that oil and then sit there and enjoy it. And, like, you know, make the most of it. Same with anything you consume. So that's bleak, then. Ah, nice night. Oh, no, I mean, the concept is there, but I don't think there's any to shot it. I like it. I like weird health things like that. I have my carry on. I have been taking here growing supplements, because I've got, like, no, here left. And that's my one routine. Is it working? I don't know. Probably, because it's look balls. Oh, it's recording.

The problem is, you try and get rid of it here on every single hour of your body. So, and then you're, like, taking these hair growth pills and I'm like, oh, I've got to wax my eyebrows. I've got to wax my chin. Oh, no. The legs, like, and then you, you know, you're doing all the stuff. And then you're getting regrow through your ears. It's a really nice thing. I have, like, a road that, I just have, like, a natural rosemary oil tonic. Ah, yeah. I have one of those two, but it's oil. And it's hard to do, because when, you know, there's not many times of the day that you want to rub oil into your hair. Ah, this one's just, like, a tonic. It's, like, powder. Oh, is it? Yeah. It's rosemary. Okay, well, it's got some pills. They look bald in here. Oh, my God, I know. I know. I kind of, it all fell out when I lost heaps of weight real quick. And then, and then it grew back real short and fuzzy, but then it kind of grew back. And then, I don't know, it's just not, it's just bleak. It's bleak. You need prototypical bleak.

I do an ecology, my mum told me that the other day too. Yeah. I was like, yeah, fear. I mean, back on my running, though. Yeah, well done. I decided I've got a new thing. I'm going to run 20k a week, but there's no rules around it, because I mean, so busy. So I can either run four days of 5k, Monday to Thursday, done. And I don't have to do anything on the weekend, but if I'm busy or weak, and I'm going to, or weak, then I have to do two massive runs on the weekend. And then, you know. I think that's a great set up. I think, because I think that will make you do it. I think so, you know. You're not gone, you know, part of you is going to want to leave your 20k for the weekend day. Yeah. So you're actually doing your future self a favour every time you make a good decision every day? Even like, all like, did 3k this morning, and I'd do my way, I'd do my workout. And then I was like, oh, I'll do another two quick days before I go. Nice, because then you're like, oh, yeah, nice. I'm pushing you that little bit. Yeah, sticky. Stacking you have it.

Stacking it up. Yeah, which is actually ideal, because there's no, there's no, otherwise you're like, ah, heavy wallet. Yeah. So it's just a little push. That's cool. I like, yeah. I'm hoping that for 20k a week, my big good for fitness. Yeah. I did a scan this morning, so I've put four kilos on since my last fitness buzz. Which is actually not bad at all. I haven't even thought about what I've eaten in the last six months, so I'm fine with that. That's good. But I'm going to Italy in four weeks, and then I'm going to New York four weeks after that. So that's another four weeks. So I am in big trouble. Shit, the food in New York, okay? Like, I'm excited for Italy, but I'm concerned about New York. Oh, it's going to be great. I know. Great. And you're going to need to eat food to you. It's left it up for you and you face the consequences later. Yeah, and we will. And it'll be winter. So you'll get home and you're literally a hoodie for four months and you can hustle and then back into it. Yeah.

Yeah. I'm excited for this trip. We're off to Italy. I'm hosting the food tour with Erin from Who Tried Travels. And if it goes well, and everyone loves it, we're going to do one to India next year with Inking or Sri Lanka. We're in India. I love to go to India. So I'm very excited for that. Yeah, that's going to be epic. Oh, I went to Palmerston North last week to do my business woman's beach, which was quite good. I had the biggest drama getting there. And I was really getting stressed. The flights always don't go when you need to be somewhere. Right. You need to be somewhere. You actually have to go somewhere, yeah. And I ended up, it was such a shit show, but there was one other woman who was trying to get to Palmerston North as well. So she'd been on the same flight. So we were four minutes getting into Auckland. So we missed the Palmerston North connection. So I was with this other lady, and we were both like, what the hell? We were only four minutes late. And then we both lost our bags. Oh, and then I kind of, and then we all got on the plane to get on the next flight.

And then they all got us all off the plane because there was engineering issues. So I'd gathered like three or four women who were like, can you help me? I don't know how to put my phone on flight mode or like take the phone off flight mode and they were all trying to call their daughters and just like, they were like my little ducklings. And I was like, he got to put your phone on flight mode. All right, let's go over to the baggage and we'll go and ask about the bags and we'll go and see what we can, we can all come find them. They've got to see them and they're like, oh well time, we run all geese following around the airport. Wow, you really tapped into your Taipei. And then they were all like, what are we going to do now? We're going to hang out. So I went to hang out. Did you? Yeah. I was like, you know, I learned all about their kids and they're what they do. And that's good to made most of you always tired. And then I was like, should I be able to go and do my hair because I'm literally going to land and have to walk on stage? Lucky I did that. And then I ran off the plane and did my makeup in the bathroom toilet. Got changed, like stood on my blazer. I had a footprint on it and then I ran to the Uber and then got the sort of bang on time, which was perfect.

Nice. Oh, done. But then everyone's like, you make it look amazing. Look like you had it done. Well, when we went to create a con and you decided you were my cup in the car, literally within two minutes, you are quite good. I read just, I think you know your face well and you just, oh, maybe I just don't, I would just never take long time doing it. But I reckon I've got a couple of you, I've got a Charlotte Tilbury bronzer. Yeah. That's not too dark. Yeah. And I reckon that's been a game changer and those highlight sticks. Yeah, because you're like, whack, whack, whack, whack. Yeah. Done. Highlight up. I think I'm going to walk my my myrialed self into Mecha one day and ask him how, and just say, can you just do a full face of makeup on me? And then? Right, never, ever, ever, ever, ever we make up. Yeah. Yeah, then it gets to a moment where I'm like, I would like to make myself look nice. And I have no idea. You should make me my dream. Mexicans in there. Mexinoids. Incredible. And who sticks? For people who don't we make up the mixer? Oh, I need to because I'm trying to. The bronzer stick is amazing.

And she just, you should, the, the, my theme verb's got a diagram. Oh, yeah. She's so funny when she doesn't make up a shape. She pulls out who drives her. She's like, one bronzer on my contour. And she knows what exactly what she's got. Yeah. And she was at least studying her guide, like her five-page guide. And then she looks incredible. That's what I need. Yeah, because I just don't know. And I don't know what makeup to buy either. I, like, it's all from when I was 12. I do find it like wild when I get it done and it takes an hour. And I'm like, I can never. I'm like, what is, and then you don't even look like this much on? You know, because I get asked for natural. Yeah, right. And then I'm like, what's been happening? Yeah. Yeah. Come on, sis. Maybe that's why we don't. Yeah. Don't ask for natural if you're getting your makeup done. I don't know. It's for a book, like, for the book shoot and stuff. You don't want to look full face. You don't want to look glam. But it is nice to have it to be confident that you look like you've made an effort.

Otherwise, you might be looking at yourself for the next five years. Yeah, looking terrible. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. You always regret, regret. Yeah, I need, yeah. I didn't get my makeup done at all for the season on the season cover. And we should have a makeup artist come in and teach us how. We always should, actually. Oh, we'll get Netflix listening. He's great. Oh, yeah, if there's anyone's listening. If anyone's listening, and you know anything, that'll be good content. Yeah. OK, well, we've done our thing. Oh, we've got this lovely new topic called glimmer. We need a new name for that. No, I read about things. You know how we have triggers these things that trigger you in a bad way. And then there's things that glimmer. Yeah, give you a glimmer. It's like a little thing that happens to you that makes you feel real good. And I love this because I love to like, I'm like, well, let's try and be a bit positive. Because you know, 90% of our things are all negatrons. I actually saw a TikTok last night that I almost reposted

and then I didn't because I thought, oh, I'm not educated enough. But it was the girl saying, thank God we're paying for this war in gas and not lives. And it was from the perspective of us in New Zealand, for example. Yeah. We're all moaning about gas prices. And yes, it is hard. And yes, there are people who really, really are struggling. Yeah, cannot afford to fill up their car. But let's remember that. Yeah, always not in the middle of the actual war. Walking off to, yeah, to find them. Yeah, that's a glimmer. You know, that's a bit of a way of thinking about, you know, I thought she's right. And, yeah, yeah, and the scheme of things. You know, we're okay for the bill of moment. It'd be a lot worse for us, but, yeah. You know, we still got food. Yeah. Hey, go. Yeah. I'll get some chickens and we'll be in pasta. We'll all know how to make pasta. Yeah, and fried eggs. Yeah. All right, so what's your glimmers there?

Well, I've actually got a list of glimmers from Cam. Because he's not here. And so I'm going to read out his. I actually had, I've got a couple, but has a quite good. So cream on coffee. Yeah. That's nice. Yeah. A perfect poached egg. Nice. I don't know if this is relevant or not. Drawing a just they know and a deal breaker card and a monopoly deal. That the two best cards in the monopoly deal game. Right. I'm not going to try and explain the game to you. I think if you know, you know, it's again. Yeah, if you know, you know, very matching glimmer because there's only two deal breakers in the whole pack. And it means you can take someone's whole set of houses. Well, that is a glimmer. Thanks for it almost runs the whole game, because it does either glimmer or a serious trigger. Yeah, but he's right. If you get a just they know and a deal breaker, you're a fair away laughing. I love that game, by the way. I'm not going to do your great game. Great game. The perfect milk pour in your cup of tea. Well, what's not a perfect milk pour? We're just there, mount. I don't know. I don't really. I don't drink milk at my tea or milk at all, really.

So when you pull your shoelace off in one go, I don't understand what that means. That is good, because you know how sometimes when you pull it off, it doesn't like, see? But sometimes it gets tied up, and then you've got to be like nods and all that sort of carry on. I liked that one. Yeah, OK. When they give you enough butter for your cheese go on and put salt and pepper down, handraping. Hey, no one gives you enough butter for your cheese gone. Just what a nice surprise when they do that. I love it. It is the definition of a glimmer. Yeah, I reckon enough butter for your cheese gone. 100%. Yeah. Some of you probably don't appreciate enough when it happens, but some of you always grunt about if it doesn't happen. Yeah, you know what I mean? Yeah, that's why I guess that's the point of glimmer. So everyone listening, I want you to look for glimmers today. You can message us and tell us what's your glimmer. What's something that makes you like? Something small that makes you go, oh, that's so nice. It's a nice little, that's nice.

It's nice. Nice. I wrote some, but mine are quite niche. Well, I think that's the point. Well, my first one was when you're in the waiting room and out walks a really nice looking phlebotomist. Who's about to do your blood test? Ah. What constitutes this knife? Oh, like, you don't ever, oh, no. Oh, the lucky person, like, come out. Who looks real rough? Well, they might be like, I love it. It's like a little granny who's probably done a phlebotomy for so long, and they might be going, blind cats, you're going, 14. And you're like, oh, god. Do you know I understand that anyway? That was mum. OK, no, I'm not going to judge. What if I'm going to be like that? That makes me really good. Didn't that, that's great. I love it when Spotify perfectly curates your songs in a row. Like, when you just have a run of five perfect songs. Yeah, that's nice.

That is nice, actually. Yeah, when you're, yeah. Sometimes it's niggly-a, you're like, oh, really? No, you're not hitting today. I agree. Not hitting. When someone waves at you when you let them cross the road on the pedestrian. Oh, yeah. You know, when someone gives you a wave, I appreciate that. That's a little gimp. That's a little, yeah. Yep. When you have a good, curly hair day. Yeah, good hair days. Most days we don't, but one day, every now and then you do. Yeah, true. When you're into flow state with the current front of you on a long trip, and you're both growing the perfect speed. Oh, perfect. Like everything. And you feel connected. Yes, you feel connected. That's a little driving. Yeah. And you're both passing at the same time. Yeah, and you're both growing the same way. I feel like a team, too. Yeah, I do like that. And then we're on the other side. You're not aggressively going to travel behind me. Just like, just got a little unspoken pact. Yeah. Do you like at some point get panic about the following you, though, if it's right? No. No. I've been traveling the same road for like two hours, and I've been taking turns, like, this is actually getting a bit weird now.

That's a trigger, like, too much. Well, I'm just going to pull over to the cafe and let them go past now. And then my last one was, when you have time to sit down in the shower? I know lots of people think that's your part, eh? Oh, I'm far too fit to sit down in the shower. That would take me for the stage to get up. I'd need one of those lifts on the side to, like, hold myself up again. Like, not, no. That's probably not going to happen for me again. Party fat. Oh, shit. Oh, I love sitting down and cupping up with a ball on the bottom of the shower. I don't even have a bath these days. Oh, my God. Shut up. Shut up. Shut up. Oh, my God. Oh, sitting in the bus horrible way when you're lying down and you're looking down at yourself. Oh, you feel like you're in a wheelchair and getting out of the bus. Oh, what are you looking for? Getting out of the bus. Oh, shit. They were nice. And they were nice to me, though. Yeah, I actually didn't really do any of it.

I quite like it with my cat every night. He, like, will not every night. But Sam Day, like, he, because, oh, he's so needy, but, like, Sam Day's, he just, like, bowed his breath, your walk up to me, and he just flopped himself. Oh, my God. On my face. And he'll be purring away, like, who's, like, done this great thing. And everyone's like, what are you doing? I can get it. And I'll sit there. I'm like, oh, it's nice. Like, a weighted blanket. Yeah. Yeah. All right. I'll think of some better things. I'll actively keep an eye out. I put, wrote down, Matt, sometimes, like, in the weekend, if I say I'm bad, sometimes, he likes to have fruit salad and yoga. And I don't really have breakfast. So I would never do it for myself, and he always brings me a small bowl of fruit with a bit of yoga on it, which is really nice, which is really nice. It's so nice. Yeah. It's a nice little lake. That's really nice. It doesn't take a huge amount. It does it to, like, do something nice. Sometimes. Yeah. I'm going to be looking, though. I'll try and think about it on a day. It's probably quite good to be in the habit of writing

these things down. Yeah. Restaurant stuff's always good too, like, it's always, you know, when they bring the margarita out, and it's in the small glass, but the shortcut with ice, with the straw, with the straw, and it's been shaken and it's perfect, because those are, like, right one in ten times. Yeah. Sometimes they're in, I'm like, why would you even talk us? I don't like it without ice. Yeah. Okay, all right, everyone, look out for your good things. That was good. I don't think I have anything else to talk about this week. What are we? Oh, it's the coming out. We've been doing some good recipes. Yeah. That hot cross-bun pudding is freaking out the gate. It's so yummy. It's easy, it's like, everyone loves it. It is the perfect Easter desserts. Yeah. Give that a hone. Yeah. The French toast sticks were quite fun with them. They were. They were. They were custard, yeah. And what else? What are the lovely French tip sandwich? Yeah. Cook yourselves a roll. Yeah. Put in a nice big ear and dunk it in a consummate on my board and sign. Even if you don't put it in that sandwich, I think that rose beef you made.

It was nice. Oh, yeah. Cater, like, it was a beef rump and out the gate and mangroin set it on all sides, put some water at the bottom and pop it in the oven with some onions. Yeah, it was delicious. Yeah. I haven't done a roast, a rear roast beef in forever. Because I've quite big on the slow shoulder, like a lamb shoulder. Yeah. I almost don't do a dry roast. Hardly ever now. Like to keep it real hot. It's so hard to cook well and you cooked it so well. No, I feel like I've got lucky. I just set it and then, yeah, couple of cups of liquid in the bottom and the oven for like an hour and a half. And then rest it. You have to rest it for a long time. Right. But yeah, you're right. It was. I did nail it. Yeah. It would probably never happen again. Okay. What about anything else? Nothing. But what are you doing, Faser? Well, I think I'm going up to the Cromander, up to Fidienge, which is really exciting. I love going up there. Cromander's my happy place. Oh, yeah. You do go here. Same. I think I might live there long term one day. My favorite, my favorite, my favorite, favorite.

Even Mungify went to Mungify last weekend. Love it up there. Yeah. Okay. I'm a real big fan of a small town. Yeah. So I really surprised me. I never saw myself being that way. But I just think I could happily move to. Do you agree? Yes. I'd moved to Haie for sure. For sure. Yeah. I think I think I actually said to kind of the reason, the only reason that would put me off moving to somebody that is quite as that is the lack of restaurants and the lack of being able to eat and dine out and go out for a cocktail, go out for a nice breakfast, go out. You know, they do have their spots, but they don't have voice. No, they don't. But they've got some bloody good spots for a tiny town that they do. Little blue kitchen in Haie is sensational. Their breakey burritos are one of the best I've ever had. And then they mean bagels. Yeah. Nice coffee. Good for you. Good for dinner. The pub is great. The pub is great. Yeah. Nice pizza. Yeah. And then in someone they have this mashed burger place and the, would fire pizza. Oh yeah. And the campground.

Yeah. These are fancy restaurant Haie, but we went there and it was, it wasn't great. It didn't hurt. No. You better off go pub for sure. Yeah. Yeah. Anyway, I'm an end of summer, make the most of daylight savings this weekend. Yeah. We turned our clocks back. Don't wait. Yeah. We get an extra hour because the morning for me because we get up six and it is getting, you can feel it. You can. This is a drag. Yeah. And then I can feel it on the other end too and you're like, I'm, my body's making me up earlier than I should. It's quite interesting considering daylight savings isn't like a natural thing. Well, no, it's not a natural thing. No. Maid constructs and stuff. But I feel, I feel like, it's right for me like I'm, and now it doesn't really make sense. But I feel like it's, no, I hundreds in a group. Yeah. I might play on the road anymore, which is how it would be real. I know they're going to be in a housing pain. I know. Give them a torch each and see you later. At least you have some nice breaks this year.

Break up. I do. And I'm going to Bali at the end of winter as well. I know. I'm really jealous. I know. I also have to take four kids. Yeah. And a nanny. Just like that. Well, do you know what? It's actually not a bad age. Yeah. You wouldn't, you wouldn't, you wouldn't enjoy it though. Oh. No. No. Well, no, probably not. You'd be like, no, I don't want to look after the kids. Yeah. I'm like, uh, a little too early here. Yeah. I forgot. I guess it's child. Yeah. Okay. Very good. All right, then. I think that's, that's our time. We'll see you next week. Well done on, um, three weeks at a row. Yeah. On the right day. I want to report that next Tuesday. I'm gonna run my 20k. Yeah. I didn't last because I was sick.
