1:00run season, and most of us sat there like, come on to you. And laugh at me. I didn't say laugh. I'm supposed to be in laugh that man, because I got vision. I ain't worried about that. Yeah. You think I'm worried about what folks say about me? No, I don't think you are, but I have my hair on me. I'm gonna live for all of you, man, what's the man? I'm gonna go ahead. I mean, take your victory, love. I'm just saying. Victory like day one. Here we go. Here we go. When I walk into that ballpark dog, sometimes I just get a feeling it just comes over my spirit. Yeah, that would happen last year with the Taiwan thing. Basically the same thing, man, you know, people call it and ridicule me in. You know, I am gonna blind bet next opening day, whatever you say. I mean, you've hit it two years in a row. Last year was Taiwan Walker, where it could start. Yesterday was Alec Bome. Well, Bryce kind of let me down, but it's cool. Well, no, listen, but Bome is the one you were most passionate about yesterday. So we'll give you credit. I mean, we have to give Hugh Douglas credit, right? That's important to give Hugh credit on this. You hit it. You nailed it. But I do have a bigger question for everyone. We'll react to the boys together, Sanchez and Crawford and Bome. And of course, the Harper struggles.

2:01What hit you the most yesterday? Two, one, five, five, nine, two, ninety, four, nine, four. But it is a Friday. Two things we do on Fridays. One, we have Scott Franske. And he'll join us at noon today. Excited to talk to Scott after the first game of the season. But the other thing we do on Friday is we do a little game called the Friday. It's a Friday. Friday. It's Friday. Friday. It's Friday. Friday. You and Joe on Fridays. All right. But the Friday exercise usually is us trying to find something we should try, whether it be a drink of food and adventure or whatever. But kind of, I think today we need to do something different. And I think this is kind of introspective for us and the whole audience. Yeah, I think we need to do this as a show. On Friday today, should we try listening to Hugh Moore? Yes. I think you should. Well, so let's lay out a couple big things. One, the Bome thing yesterday. He said his ball producer was 30 home runs, Bome on pace for 162, facts for facts. We can't lie. Second thing is. AJ still here. AJ still here. And the more that you kind of think about it, there's I guess a more of a chance he could be here. Should we listen? Should not give you a hog.

3:01Should we listen to Hugh Moore? All right. No, no, no. Should we try? Because I can't commit to anything. But should we try listening to Hugh Moore? Ha. Well, I just, I just flat out refused. You could try to get me to all you want. All right. Hugh, do you think we should try listening to Hugh Moore? I think you should, man. You know, like, y'all didn't make fun of me, but his wisdom sit over here in this seat right here, man. 54 years of wisdom. Is that what it is? Yes. And mistakes that were made that I don't want y'all to make the same mistakes, wisdom and mistakes right here. I feel like the mistakes you made have nothing to do with Alex Bome hitting home runs or nothing to do with that. That's okay. That's okay. All right. No, it looks the way. All right. We need, we need your reaction to this. We need you to chime in by the, so Kyle's already out. We'll not listen to Hugh anymore. I'm going to entertain it. I simply refuse. All right. I'm going to put this out there for the people to decide. By the end of the show, I will, I will tell you whether or not I'm willing to listen to Hugh Moore now. Should be. To be fair, I listen to everything you say. Now, you think I'm crazy. Well, yeah. I mean, most times it goes in one ear and right out the other, but I'm listening.

4:04I'm, I'm listening, but I will try to truly listen to the, I guess, I almost said wisdom. I'm whatever. And you could call it that because that's what it is. This is how that's all about, right? That's right. Excuse me. Yeah. Wisdom. Yeah. I'm whatever we call it too. I just burst. Five. All of that, man. All of that. Five, nine, two. Ninety-four, ninety-four. Should, should we listen to Hugh Moore? I mean, it's, it's that simple. On a Friday, Friday. Kyle says, a flat out. Now, I'm open to it, but I, I need to see what everyone says out there. I'll decide by two o'clock. I really didn't appreciate that. Half, by the way. Oh, it was, it was condescending. It was like, I'm right. You're right, man. I just like it because you know, all the time that there are, you know, people listen. He's an idiot, then, when I'm right, I'd be like, darn it. I should have been. Well, I mean, there is that truth that a broken clock is right twice a day. You know, there's that, you know, you played a lot of averages, you know. But it feels like them, I'd be killing them averages all the time. I don't know, man. I feel like I'd be on fire. You know, if you wanted to, he could come in here and be like, huh, to the AJ thing.

5:04Every day, it's old June 1st. Well, it's one of those things where you're right every day until you're wrong. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That's why I'm holding the line, man. Holding the line. Yeah. Yeah. Driving down the street. Still need some gas. The crazy part about the boom thing now is he's going to hold on to opening day until the season is over, right? You're like, well, you know, it's got to get back to where you did an opening day. Yeah, basically. Yeah. I mean, you have that under your belt now. Yeah. You know, he just needs, I think he'll have a nice little weekend. If he is, if he gets 30 home runs, he's going to be a problem. Oh, yeah. You already know. Well, it's actually great. So it's bad for us. Great for the show. Yeah. And great for the Phillies. I mean, if Alex Bump gets a 30 home runs, they're going to win 100 base for the Phillies. Yeah. I mean, it would change our whole team. Our 215, 592, 94, 904. That's how you hop aboard. What are you the most from yesterday? The Phillies 5, 3 went over the Rangers and on a Friday, Friday, should we try listening to Hugh Moore? I mean, he nailed it. I'm not really asking you. We know. We know what your answer is. Yes. No. Or maybe at least Matt and Germantown up on WIP.

6:05Hey, Matt. Hey, what's the word? Not hard, Joe. Tom, my favorite barber. And Uncle, you would be with the Dooby. What's going on? What's up, Matt? I am going to start our Friday. All right. That's a couple of things I got to address on the bracket. I got disconnected. You have a date. You just spare brother a couple of seconds. First things first. I'm dying on the Hill with you. What, Joe? And how you guys are right, like as I've been reviewing a lot of the evil stuff, like, it looks like AJ could be one. My thing is, after doing one, doing my own due diligence and research, if we could turn AJ Brown into Miles Garrett, I'm all day. Like, we not even about to do this. Like, I love AJ with that. I don't want to get rid of him. But that's a way he met her player. We're not even about to do this. Yeah, Miles Garrett. Oh, yeah. Oh, without question. Yes. Yes. I see one for you, Joe. It was like two first, like this year, next year's first, 2028, and a second rounder. And then like, Moro Ajono for Miles Garrett. Yeah, count me in. Count me in if we get there, Matt.

7:06No question about it. Now, on the Phillies yesterday, the one thing I took from it watching ironically enough, because I'm not even a baseball guy, but you guys, you know, coerced me into it. I think that depending on how that really comes back, Christopher's, I'm thinking that maybe Christopher Sanchez could be the heir apparent Suzec Wheeler because having both of them playing like really good or having Christopher Sanchez playing his best pitch, like pitching his best baseball. And then you got someone like Zach Willough covering it for him. I think that also could like perpetuate us to where we can actually see some differences. And then the wisdom from Uncle Hewby with the doobie and I'm calling it with Alex Bones. And just the supporting chance having to show up. So Matt, I agree with you on Sanchez. I think he is great enough and good enough to great enough to take that mantle from Zach Willough. Now, the, the, the idea would be if Wheeler comes back healthy and he's the guy he we've known, then we got two of them, right? We got two ace like pitchers. That, that would be something else. I agree. I agree. That's where I'm at with it. That's the, my biggest big way from a game yesterday was if we can just let Zach Willough

8:10take his time to combat extremely healthy, then I like us against anybody because I mean, the Dodgers only got Otani and then who, like everybody would, I'm noticing to have like either one or maybe two major pitchers, we're talking about two style young finalists on our rotation. I don't know too many other teams with that. Well, not many do. Dodgers have a lot, but you know what? We would match up with them. We matched up last year. We matched up again. All right. Match. Should we start listening to Hugh Moore? What do you think? I'm, I'm a, I'm a darn hard, I like broccoli, like Uncle Hugh, like broccoli. So I'm a darn with warmth with that one. Yeah, we need to, we need to listen more. All right. It's a vote for listening more than you. I guess. All right, man. Good for him. That's good for him. Yeah, that makes him healthy. Um, as far as Christopher Sanchez goes and the dominance we saw yesterday, it was the dominance we saw last year. He has become that kind of pitcher now and it's just when you watch him pitch, he would feel like. Effortless. Effortless. And he throws, it feels like the hitters in the batter's box kind of know what's coming because he doesn't have four or five pitches, right?

9:11He's not, you know, some pitchers out there, the Yamamoto's of the world, like there's some of the guys have a lot of pitches. They got a repertoire. He doesn't really, but his pitch, his change up is so good. And his fastball's so good with the change up, he doesn't need four or five pitches. Like those batters can pretty much guess one of two, he's got a third, but basically one of two pitchers that are coming and they still can't do anything. That's pretty potent. If you kind of like out, you don't have that many, you know, tools in the toolbox and you can still get guys out the way that you did yesterday, that's pretty impressive. The cool part with him too is because the way his change up works, he, I actually think he gets better as the game goes on. You know, the first inning is when they had their probably the best chance to hit him that the two guys on in the first inning, the two hits. Once he settles in, it's, it's basically over. He's one of those guys that when we get to the biggest games, I do want him pitching deeper into the games because he just, that's sinker. And that change up, get better as the game goes on. John and Alan town up on WIP, hey, John, my sentiments exactly, that change up gets better as the game goes longer.

10:12That's the, that's the ace of staff, boys. Well he's the ace of the staff and he's one of the best pitchers in all of baseball, John. I mean, he's gone from, hey, he's going to, I mean, Paul Schien's gave a million runs yesterday. Christopher Sanchez, that he said a million, he did. He got jacked up and what do you, what do you, leave that game with like a 60, 70, R.A.? Yeah. He only recorded two outs, which is wild. Boy, he got bombed and I was well, I was watching that because the Phillies were on at four. I'm like, well, he's getting hammered at his face that, if you could read his face, he was like, I don't even know what happened just now. Well, yeah. And then his center field or misplayed two baseball. So it didn't help me out. Yeah, but listen, as far as the Si Young stuff goes to start this season off, Sanchez had the best first day. And he looked like the best pitcher in baseball yesterday. For sure. Rocky started from my man Bryce, but you know, he'll get better. There's still, there's still a better chance that Bryce will hit 30 home runs and

11:13bones. Well, of course, don't get crazy. Don't get crazy. You. Come on. Well, guess what? Bone got one and Bryce ain't got none right now. So. So you right now have five and Bomo have won. OK, but right now as of today, between the two of them, Bome has one and Bryce has none. Game saved, man. I told you so, Douglas, actually, I was actually going to say you should listen to you more, but now. Yes. I'm going to be vindictive. You should not. Oh, that's fine. You can, you can be all as vindictive as you want to be, John. Don't, don't listen to you. Don't listen to you. Don't listen to you. It ripped me. Hey, John, rip, free, John. Rip, free. Hey, vote against listening more to Hugh Douglas. Hey, thanks a lot, man. Appreciate you. You got it, John. Good phone call there. Yeah. It ripped free. Look, it's super early for awards and say young and all that, but this, when Sanchez started doing this about two years ago and it was like, whoa, you know, this kind of came out of nowhere because you go back to when he first got to the big leagues.

12:13The command was all over the place. He was got beat. It was down. It was about 2023 around May, June of 2023. He came up for good and it was like, oh, you know, maybe they got a fourth or fifth starter here. Maybe, maybe a little bit more, but okay, they, they found something and he's cheap and he's young and it works, right? Because that point, Luzardo wasn't here. At that point, painter wasn't ready. He was hurt. At that point, Nolan Wheeler were the guys, but we kind of felt like they needed to find more starters as time went on. And I think if I said to anybody here, who's going to be the next starter to, to jump up with Nolan and, and Wheeler, we all would have said to Andrew Painter, right, that he was supposed to be the guy, yeah, definitely. And maybe he still will be, but it's Sanchez. I mean, the Phillies have developed another a starter at a nowhere. You know, if, if we look back years from now, we say, why the Phillies were able to keep their run going, you know, because when you start to look at the age of the team a few years ago here, you start to wonder like, how long can they keep this up? Yeah. If they're able to extend this window longer than we thought, I think the biggest reason

13:13is going to be Christopher Sanchez. Like they have found another ace like pitcher that none of us saw coming. Now that's, if they tried to find a pitcher like that in free agency, he would cost 300 million dollars. They found them here in their own farm system and develop them. He is a dominant starting pitcher right now. Andy and Westchester is up on WIP. Hey, Andy. Good morning, gentlemen. Good morning, Andy. How are you? I'm good. Thanks. What a game. A great game. A great day. Great weather. Baseball is back, Andy. Great Friday. Yeah. It was amazing. It was awesome outside. It's funny. It was one of the first times I really got to see the stadium from We're in Lock K. Wow. It is. It's just a beautiful stadium. Usually you're right up on it. So you don't get a good look at it. Right. Man. Anyway. So here, where did you watch the game? I watched it at home. I stayed. I was in a Pat's and stole for a little while. And then when we got, when a lot of people started coming, it got a little whim in our way. I was throwing up a rooster tail on the way out when we were watching it.

14:15You were like, you were still playing football. Oh, yeah. I was, yeah. It was time to go. It was time to go. Yeah. When you said, oh, you told my okay, you told my leaving like in a hurry. Yeah. I was trying to. Yeah. I like that phrase. Throw up a rooster tail. Yeah. I got to use that one. I got to use that one. So yeah. You know, your name out. You just gave like a hand wave over the shoulder. Oh, yeah. I did. Yeah. I remember that. Hey. Listen. Yeah. It was time to go. Yeah. Andy text me that you blew them off. And I was like, that sounds like it. I did not. I did not blow him off. Now we get to the bottom of this. Andy, I did not blow you off. Andy, I know. I was. I was. You probably did. You're not that friendly. I didn't. I was a little friendly yesterday. Yeah. You're tail up like a rooster. It was. I was a little friendly yesterday. It was a rooster tail. Rooster Douglas. Oh, I like that. That could be a good one. That's a good one. All right. Andy, what hit you the most besides you with the rooster tail? Well, hey, it was like you were saying. It's just.

It's just amazing to watch Sanchez at this point. I feel like him like I felt about any game I went to before where Ranger was pitching. It's like I was just so excited to watch him work. And that's where I am with him at this point. Harper, it is concerning though. You were talking the other day about does he have to be elite? I think he does and he's I my opinion. He's an elite fielder, but he needs to change his approach to the plate and then he will be a lead again.

16:16If he can just become a contact hit or I don't care, get hit so I don't need you to kill it every time. Well, and I feel like he hasn't figured he hasn't like that switch hasn't gone off Fandy. I think about the pitch. He struck out on the fifth inning the 94 you know fastball up. Yeah. That's one. I mean, it's a ball. So he doesn't have to swing. That's one just hit it to center field for the base hit, right? Like knock the run in, get a base hit, get it. It looked like he was trying to drive that ball and his bat speed just it's not there right now. Yeah. And it's a matter of it's just a choice. Honestly, he has to make whether to to become a lead or not. You know what I mean? So that's just that's where I see it. Yeah. And it's going to be the story. It's one of the stories and any good phone call there. One of the stories of the season is going to just be this thing with Bryce Harper watching how he plays. It's ironic and you I don't want to bury him because it's one game. That is. But there's signs for a while now that he's just his body's not producing the way he's doing. And you know what to be to be fair because I know a lot of people's I was only one

17:17game. Well, you know, he played in the World Baseball class again and to in your defense. This is something you've been harping on for a while. And I'm up the mind saying always been on my say, well, it's going to take him a little bit of time, you know, to get back to where he wants to be. But the unfortunate thing about all this, Joe, is the longer that it goes on, the more and more people are going to start to notice it, you know, and that's the unfortunate thing about it. And I feel like Bryce is only one one game, but he might be in a situation where he feels he feels a little bit of pressure. This is rare fight air for him, especially when you talk about somebody who was the faith who is the face of the franchise and has been that do for a long time. You know, like I remember I'll say something and it out more getting a long time ago. He said, usually the player is the last one to know, you know, and I'm not saying that Bryce is there, but maybe he's starting to feel that a little bit, maybe he's starting to feel that pressure a little bit like, you know, maybe, maybe it's going to take him a while for his game to get there.

18:17Well, I have to imagine it happens with every athlete, great athlete that starts to decline a little bit. Like the things that you used to do for some reason, you just not doing that. You know what's funny, thinking about it, okay, the parallels, we didn't get a chance to talk to Bryce, but we got a chance to talk to Zach Willer. And the one thing that struck me about the conversation that we had with him was he was even focused when he was talking to us and when he was talking about his rehab and how he was going to take it as it comes. He really didn't give himself no kind of timeline or anything like that. He just said, hey, whatever happens happens. And it sound like whatever happened with him, he was at peace with it. And I think that's what Bryce needs to be in order for his game to come to him. I still think he can play. It's just that he needs to, he needs to fill that piece right now. All right. Well, I agree with that. The other thing, because you mentioned when we went down in spring training, who we talked to, I hope that Don Maddenly could be a good sounding board for Bryce Harper, because Don Maddenly, when he got to his 30s, his career fell off.

19:19He had a back injury and he was really, I mean, you can make a case in the mid 80s. Don Maddenly might have been the best player in baseball or, you know, up there, right? The way Bryce was at one point. And then his power was apt. He just couldn't hit for power anymore, but he still, he turned, he made himself a good player for the last five years of his career because he learned to hit the ball differently. He didn't, he didn't hit home runs anymore, but he was still a productive, all-star, kind of major league player for a few years. You got to switch your game up. Yeah. You got to try to adapt and evolve your game a little bit when you get a little older. You can't do certain things. You can't do, I don't think Bryce feels like he's there yet, though. And that might be, he might not be there, but that's, only one knows that is Bryce. Yeah. It felt yesterday, I think the right word is, it was a near perfect opening day. I mean, it was, it was this close to being a perfect opening day. The win is what matters, Sanchez is dominant, boom. That's a huge start to his season for his psyche, for our psyche, for Hugh. It's a huge thing. And Crawford looks like he belongs. So all those things you put in the positive category and say, check it off.

20:21Here we go. Boom. Boom. It's a proper stuff that it's just, it's there. I can't ignore it. I can't pretend it's not there. It is the elephant in the room with the baseball team. He didn't look right. He looks off. And when I'm watching him swing and miss at 94, the antenna goes up like, uh-oh, that's not good. And we can, I think the boys will win a lot of games, even if he struggles, but they're going to need him to at least be good. We had the debate the other day. Do they need him to be elite? All right. Whatever. They lead is a high level. They need him to at least be good to, to be the best kind of team they could make. He can't be that. No, he can't be bad. I mean, if he's bad, they're screwed. They need him to at least be in above average to a good baseball player, you know, in this season. 215, 592, 90 for an effort. We'll get everyone's phone calls here. Take aways on the opening day when what and who stood out the most from you to you? And on a Friday, Friday, should we try listening to humor? Yeah. I mean, he called the boom home run yesterday. He's on record. The boom's going to hit 30 home runs. That still feels lofty. But he's right. Right now.
