On March 3rd, award-winning rapper Getz, whose real name is Justin Clark Samuel, just got a 12-year prison sentence for causing the death of a student in a hit-and-run crash. The 41-year-old from East London admitted to dangerous driving that killed 20-year-old Yubin Tamang, a university student from Nepal. This all happened in Northeast London back in October. The crash took place in the early hours of October 18th, 2025, on Redbridge Lane East in Ilford. Clark Samuel was behind the wheel of his BMW M5, speeding over 60 miles per hour and a 30 miles per hour zone. He'd been drinking that night and was one and a half times over the legal alcohol limit. Tamang was crossing the road when the car struck him and he died in hospital two days later. Tamang's family is devastated, describing their only child as a precious soul taken far too soon. Their heartbreak has been shared publicly, highlighting the profound loss from this needless tragedy. The incident has sparked conversations about road safety and the dangers of drunk driving in residential areas.
Police quickly pieced it together after finding a damaged wing mirror at the scene which led them straight to Clark Samuel's badly damaged car, parked near his home. CCTV footage captured his erratic driving, including the collision itself. He pleaded guilty back in December to causing death by dangerous driving and another dangerous driving charge. The old Bailey handed down the sentence this week, underscoring the severe consequences of such reckless actions behind the wheel.
