On April 28, a military convoy in Ghana shielding 140 civilians took heavy fire in the northern town of Bindary on Monday. Three of those folks got killed, and one ended up injured as the group rolled through the Upper East region. The crew was heading from the hotspot Baoku toward Bolga when unknown gunmen hit them hard, unloading multiple rounds. Soldiers clapped back quick, dropping seven attackers on the spot. This mess stems from a deep-rooted clash between the Mampruzi and Kusasi groups fighting over who gets to name the local chief in Baoku. It's claimed over 300 lives since 2021, and now the troubles creeping into spots like Bindary, where they slapped on a, nightly curfew back in March 2025 before lifting it in February 2026. In the aftermath, troops scooped up a G3 automatic rifle, two loaded magazines packing 20 rounds a piece, and 176 extra. Bullets from a suspect who ducked into a mosque.
They also nabbed 10 more people, now helping investigators piece it together. With the rest piling up in the military locked in, they're working to shut down any more flare-ups and stabilize the whole area before it spins. Further out of control. World News Powered by AI. This is Global News Today.
