Gerry Adams Clears Name in Bombing Case

Three victims of provisional IRA bombings dropped the case on the final day of a two-week trial with no order for costs. The claimants included John Clark, Hurt in the 1973 Old Bailey bombing in London, Jonathan Ganesh from the 1996. Docklands attack and very laycock injured in the Manchester R&D bombing that same year. They sought just one pound in damages, claiming Adams held a top role in the IRA's leadership. Adams firmly denied any role in the bombings or membership in the provisional IRA. His legal team called the lawsuit an improper use of the courts. Following the decision, Adams expressed relief, noting he attended the trial to honor the victims and counter what he saw as unfounded attacks. He highlighted his part in ending the conflict through the Good Friday Agreement and urged fresh efforts toward a United Ireland rooted in equality and mutual respect.
