Germany Busts People-Smuggling Ring, Seizes Boat Kits

Raids hit 12 locations in North Rhine, West Belya, where police seized boats, engines, fuel cans, life jackets, and inner tubes used by smugglers. The operations stemmed from a joint effort by Britain's National Crime Agency, Belgian Federal Police, and partners in Germany, France, the Netherlands, Europol, and Eurojust. Smugglers shipped inner tubes to Germany, assembled them into ready-to-use boat kits worth over 10,000 euros each on the black market, then sent them to France for launches toward the UK. Authorities intercepted more than a dozen vehicles carrying these kits across Belgium, France, Germany, and the Netherlands between April and December. Of last year, leading to 21 arrests total, officials say the network could have enabled around 1,000 people to cross, with gangs pocketing up to 100,000 euros per boatload.
