I feel like I should be on my eighth grade drill team all over again. All right, we are doing it. Alexis finally watched Space Jam, the OG, the original I did this week, because it's March Madness. We talked about it last week. No one in the studio could believe she hadn't seen either of them. Apparently nobody of my life can believe now. When I was saying this, people were like, what are you talking about? I mean, it's a classic. Yes. Yeah, I miss this in my childhood. It's all appropriate for right now. Yes. I mean, is everyone else's brackets busted at this point? Oh, yeah. I'm sucking in the man and the women's division. Oh, can you do a tap please? Yeah. You know what I'm talking about. I like it. So, Alexis, I mean, you've known about the movie Space Jam. Yeah. Can I just why haven't you seen it earlier? I don't know. I mean, okay, to be fair, I feel like it's a kids movie. Yeah. So, you order happy meals. It makes it tough. But I've never, like, I don't know. Obviously, Disney movies I watched out, but never do I go, like, if you're talking about, like, Paw Patrol, I'm not going to go suddenly watch it now and be like,

what did I miss? Oh, this is not a popular film. I know. I'm sorry. I was trying to pick up a reference off the top of my head. What did you know about the movie before you watch it? I knew. I knew it involved the Looney tunes and Michael Jordan. Okay. I did not know they even played a basketball game in it. I'm not going to lie. I knew like, actually nothing. Okay. That's what Jam refers to. Yeah. You think they hired Michael Jordan for his acting abilities? No, I just, I was like, maybe he's in it for a few seconds. Like, I didn't know he's like the star in the movie. Okay. Really? I have no idea. Okay. So, there's probably other people that also have no idea. So, can you just simply explain the plot to anyone else who has not seen the original space chain? All right. Let's try. Michael Jordan retires from basketball. It's a baseball player. It's not really important. Yes. Okay. It's a huge joke. Yeah. It is a huge joke in it. Because he tried to actually be an MLB player in real life. Oh. And it didn't go well for him. Okay. Yeah. You did not get that joke. We'll get to that later. Okay. Anyway, the Looney tunes. This is a really hard story. There's a planet that wants to make them like work at the carnival

for their life, the aliens versus them. Yeah. And if they win the game, they get their independence. Yes. Yes. That's stupider. The more I explain it, I'm like, wait, uh, it's going to the world. The aliens get the super power or the basketball skill powers from other players, Looney tunes, grab Michael, Jordan, pull them down a golf hole, take them in, get them to play on their team to fight the aliens. Maybe if you're listening right now, just Google search the plot for this simple one. I probably should have read it online. Yeah. It's hard for me to say. That's okay. It's okay. So anyways, we're going to move forward to the cameos in the film. Yes. There's like a ton of them. There is. Which one did you like best? I am going to be so honest with you. I did not know a single person in that movie besides Michael Jordan. What? Not even Looney tunes. What? Those but no celebrities. I was watching it with my roommate. And I was like, we were like, I feel like if we knew who these people were, it would be so much funnier. And even, okay, like, Wayne Knight is in it. And he plays like the assistant to Michael

Jordan in it. We had to Google him. And we're like, oh, he's in Tarzan. This, this, this. We're like, okay, he's a famous guy. Yes. Film, film. They were like, he looks familiar. He looks familiar. So then we Google him. Oh my God. Yeah. Um, the basketball players. I was like, I'm sure they're real players. Don't know them. I just, I, the list is crazy. It's Charles Barkley, Patrick Ewing, Muggy Bugs, Larry Johnson, Sean Bradley. All like Hall of Famers. Yes. I see all of a bunch of ball players that Michael Jordan prevented from ever getting a ring. Yeah. Oh my God. So yeah, I knew it was a lot of cameos, but I don't think they hit out. But I, I, I appreciated it. Like I was like, I'm sure if I knew this person, that would be extra funnier. Oh, at least you're like, hey, that's a cameo. I don't know who it is, but that's a cameo. I never got one Madonna again. Yeah. That was the, we talked about that last week.

So I saw that happen and I googled it. Yeah. And him and Madonna. Yeah. I mean, I could have assumed, but I was like, that would be really funny if I knew that. Well, I was going to, you know, which one was the worst cameo, but I guess we'll not go. Well, yeah, I guess I don't know, but it did make me want to date a basketball player. Oh, yeah. I was watching it. I was like, wow, I should have gone for a basketball player. Wow. They were hot. Oh my God. So there was that, um, I don't even know if I want to get into the 90s references. Yeah. Because there's so many in this film, and I wanted to know which ones you had to look up a lot. I wonder if it's easier to ask which ones you didn't have to look up enough. There is. It is so 90s coded. Yeah. And Bill Murray made a joke about being friends with the producer. Oh, yeah. And that's how he got in it. And it's because he's on Ghostbusters had to look up that one. Mm-hmm. There was one like a little commercial. Here, I'll play the audio. Okay. Come on, Michael. It's game time. Yeah. Get your hands on. Lace up your 90s. Grab your weedies and your gatorade. We'll pick up a big Mac on the way to the ballpark. Yeah. It's it's a joke because Michael Jordan literally was sponsored by everyone. Yeah. And he was

really kind of the first athlete to go out and do that to that extent. To have that much influence. Yeah. To wear a hat in the next day to be sold out. Yeah. Yeah. That's crazy. So that was like a, you know, they were making fun of. No, and there was a joke. I looked it up because like, you know, something that I heard and I'm like, this is definitely a joke for them. Yeah. It's like Larry Johnson says like, oh, his grandma can play better than him now. And apparently he was doing a bunch of like converse commercials at the time playing his grandma. Oh. So many pop culture references. Oh, I heard them joke about. I'll play the audio about. I'll team name the ducks. How's this for a new team name? The ducks. Please. What kind of Mickey Mouse organization would name the team? The ducks. I do think so. I'm like the organ ducks. Why is that funny? The mighty does. Yeah. Well, I know that now. Yeah. And Warner Brothers was like, you know, shaking him for it. Yeah. I had no idea. I was like, why is the joke about the organ ducks that's so random? So I do play. And I was like, okay. So that they were playing songs like pump up

the jail. Yeah. Everybody dance now. Yeah. The ending scene in him on the field is I believe I can fly. Yeah. Yeah. So cool. I mean, every song in that movie was literally every high school sporting game. Yeah. You went to for the 10 years following. Totally. Even the dances. They throw a couple of songs in. Yeah. I could tell it's so like pop culture primed at that time. For sure. Okay. And there's a lot of humor in this film. I mean, it's a comedy. Yes. Is it what parts made you laugh out loud? Okay. Him playing baseball. I didn't know he actually tried it in real life. Yes. I mean, I thought it was funny, but that makes it funny. Yeah. Yeah. And remember, like, everyone's congratulating him. Even though he sucks. Yeah. Here's a little clip of that. Good cut, Michael. Good cut. That was a strikeout mic. That was a good looking strikeout. I mean, you look good when you strike out, man. When I strike out, man, it looks nasty, man. At least you look good, man. Yeah. I was like, that part's cute. I liked when I didn't pull the

audio because it was long, but they go to the fortune teller and like they're trying to figure out what's wrong with them. The players that you don't know, but their skills got taken. Right. I can't play basketball. And the fortune teller predicts it like to a tee. And they're like, we're out of here. We're going to go try acupuncture. And I was like, that's pretty funny. I like that. Um, dumb parts, you know. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Just what part made you cringe the most? Because I know that so I haven't watched this in a little while. My kids really like this movie and my husband watches it with him because he's a basketball nerd. But like there's always going to be a part of a 90s film that just didn't age quite now. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Honestly, most of my age good other than like a few fat jokes about his assistant, like called him the chubby guy. Yeah. You know, making him like a pancake on the ground. Yeah. But the thing is, I never really watched the Looney Tunes that much anyways. Oh. And I was like, why do all the Looney Tunes have speech issues? Like every single one of them. And it's like they're spitting everywhere. Or they have a list. Every single one of them. Yeah. That's a Mel Brooks thing.

Yeah. He wasn't very versatile, but he could do bad things like that. So from Tasmania, devil to Daffy to all of them. And then Bugs Bunny. He's from Brooklyn. So he just gave him kind of a Brooklyn kind of. I saw this whole thing. He's from Brooklyn. Oh, it's Mel LaBlanc. That's what it is. Mel Blanc. That was it. Mel Blanc. Okay. Well, I have a little spit shine. Okay. Remember that place of the mess. Mess your word about a little mess. There's nothing here. A little spit shine wouldn't it. It's shine. Lemony fresh. Yeah. You didn't like that. No. No, I had to pull that because I thought it was so funny. Yeah. That audio was picked by Ashton. And he's like, where should we put it? And I'm like, most cringe right there. Ashton.

That's where we're going to play that clip you love. Yeah. Okay. So how would you improve the movie? I mean, I know they made a remake, but you also haven't seen the remake. I know. So I'm curious. So that's the thing. I got to say updated and stuff, but obviously there is the reader. So Lo Love Bunny. I love her. But I didn't know this was like her intro. Like I see people dressed as her for Halloween. She's never existed before Space Jam. Bugs Bunny never had a girlfriend. I had no idea. And I liked what they did. I liked that she was the best player. Yeah. I liked that she said don't call me doll. Yeah. But I don't like the Shannon up with Bugs Bunny. I think that they should have let her. You know, he jumps at the end. He saves her. She's like, oh, no one would do that for me and kisses him. I'm like, Lo Love. And I wish they just made her a little cooler hard to get you something. But it wasn't in whatever the man thought of her. All right. I can see that. So will you watch the remake with LeBron James now that you've seen the original? I think I have to. Yeah. I got to see if I know the Camus. So that maybe I, you know, I'm not the problem. It's just the 90s. I think Damien Lillard's in the new one.

So you know that at least. Yeah, but I didn't mind watching basketball players. Like, of course, I'll watch another basketball player movie. How much you want to bet she doesn't recognize LeBron? Yeah. All right. One out of one out of five Z's. What do you give it? Okay. If you know everybody from the 90s pop culture, I'm sure for people it's a five out of five Z's. Okay. I did it. So let's go three out of five Z's. There's your Gen Z versus classic movie Space Jam edition. Thank you, Alexis. And we'll be back Monday with a brand new show. Please subscribe. It's Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Yeah, but my baseball player now. Right. And I'm a Shakespearean actor. All cat parents understand the feeling of being totally ignored by your cat.
