Gators' Title Defense Crumbles in Heartbreaking Loss

They fell to the ninth-seated Iowa Hawkeyes by a score of 73-72 on Sunday in Tampa. Early on, Florida's big men struggled big time inside. Players like Rubin Shinyelu, Alex Condon, Thomas Hall, and Micah Hanlocken combined for just two field goals out of 13 shots in the first. Half, Iowa dominated the pain with 18 points to Florida's 12 and shot an incredible 70% on 2 point rise. Those shooting droughts hurt the Gators all game long. They missed nine straight shots over nearly 10 minutes in the first half, letting Iowa build a nine-point lead. Even in the second half, Long Dry Spells forced them to lean on free throws just to stay close. Florida showed real grit, rallying from double-digit deficits behind strong second half play from Hain Condon, who scored 29 points together.
