Gators Face Tough Road in NCAA Tournament

0:00On March 16th, the Florida Gators' men's basketball team grabbed the number one seed in the South region of the NC double, a tournament for the second, year running. It's a strong start, but the road ahead looks bumpy with some heavy hitters in their bracket. A big concern is the number two seeded Houston Cougars, who could meet Florida in the Elite 8 right there in Houston. That would be a rematch of last year's championship game, where the Gators came out on top in a thriller. One sports rider labeled the Gators as among the losers from Selection Sunday because of that tough draw. He pointed out it might not matter who they play early, but a deep run could spell trouble against familiar foes. On a brighter note, the southeastern conference shown as a big winner, leading with 10 teams in the field just ahead of the Big 10's 9. Last year, the SEC sent seven squads to the sweet 16 and claimed the national title. Florida's top challenges from the conference include the number four seeded, Alabama and Arkansas, the conference tournament champs also at number four.
