And we just, I mean, and by the way, for the people listening, there was a at the beginning of the show, they were like, there's an icon that the end of the programs, please don't leave. And everyone was like, who could it be? Who could it be? And even Alison and I were pontificating my life. Maybe it's blah, blah, blah. Maybe it's God God. Maybe God. Someone else. Who is it? And then this group of people with a black curtain at the end of the program were moving someone through the ballroom very secretly. And then this music and a montage started. And it was, it was fucking Liza Manelli. Oh my God. It was, I felt like I was at the wedding in Sex and the City too, all of a sudden. It was, it was just, oh my God, everything about that night was immensely beautiful and insanely

3:15representative and just, and I just want to thank Glad. Yeah. Helping to ensure that, that the LGBTQ community is represented in media. Yeah. I got to meet Jonathan K. Part. He's, he's the sweetest. He's just the sweetest. The whole team from the weekend on, on, on, on, MS now, it's fantastic. Yeah. And the, I've had it podcast. Oh my God. Meeting Jennifer and Angie. They won an award. Yeah. Both of us geeked out. I mean, it was definitely a moment for both of us because we, we respect them so much. Like we fan-girled beyond. And I, I guess I'm bearing the lead. All right, first up from NBC, President Trump fired Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Nome on Thursday. In the red carpet line, we got to talk to Reuters. And Reuters was like, oh, you guys do the news. What do you think about Kristi Nome? And I think we just sang the na-na-na, hey, hey, goodbye song to Reuters. You started that up. It was perfect. But that makes her the first cabinet secretary to leave her post. And capping off a tumultuous year in which she oversaw his increasingly unpopular mass deportation agenda. Alongside the announcement of Nome's aster, Trump said he would tap Senator Mark Wayne

10:36Mullin, Republican from Oklahoma, to replace her. Somebody on social media said he can't even secure a border between his first name, which I thought was really funny. But he's elevating this loyal first-term Senator. Another great observation was this simultaneously makes Trump's cabinet smarter and the Senate smarter, because Trump's cabinet is so dumb. Mark Wayne Mullin somehow elevates it, but also the Senate just got smarter. Trump added Nome, who has said Nome has served us well, will take over a new role called Envoy for the Shield of the Americas. That's made up thing everybody that doesn't exist. It's made up thing. It sounds like he just watched Avengers and just came up with it or something. Envoy for the Shield of the Americas. He described the position as one that will lead our new security initiative in the Western Hemisphere, which is colonial AF, by the way. And I know she should scare everyone because Lindsey Graham and we'll talk about this on Beans Talk was on the Sunday shows like,

Lewandowski, who was one of the first staff members on Trump's 2016 campaign for president, faced scrutiny from lawmakers over his role at the department, which was fuck buddy, including over whether he had the power to approve grants and contracts in congressional hearings this week. Nome, who is married, faced questions about her personal relationship with her husband right behind her by the way. Now, Mullin, a former MMA fighter. I like how that's his first credit

12:39served for a decade in the House before he won a 2022 special election to the Senate. If he's confirmed as DHS secretary, which I think he will be, Oklahoma governor Kevin Stitt would be required to choose another Republican to fill the vacancy until the November midterm elections. But because Mullin's Senate term expires this year, state law notes, there won't be a special election to replace him. They'll just Stitt will just shove a Republican in there. Got it. And there was some requests on social media and I think we should do this. It's not Mark Wayne. We're calling him Mark Wayne. Oh, Mark Wayne. M-A-R with Q. Mark Wayne, as if it was a great drag name, but that's going to, I think it's going to really bother him. Mark Wayne. Mark Wayne. Yeah, right. Exactly. So it's Mark Wayne. I like it. Here we go. Yep, this one's from NBC. Reptony Gonzalez, the Republican from Texas. We've covered this story about this rep for a few episodes now announced Thursday night. He's dropping his bid for reelection, but he's going to serve out the rest of his term in Congress following a tumultuous is what they're calling it set of weeks for the congressmen. Yeah, who admitted having an affair

13:42with a woman, an aide, who later died by suicide, and he's there saying it was suicide. National Republican congressional committee chairman Richard Hudson, his Republican from North Carolina echoed the statement saying, and I quote, Tony should withdraw from the runoff and allow the ethics process to move forward while focusing on his family and serving as constituents for the remainder of his term. The House Ethics Committee announced Wednesday that it would open an investigation. That's so interesting that the House Ethics Committee seems to be able to do a job with a Republican in Texas. It's just running for Congress, but can't do their fucking job when it comes to the president of the United States. It's echoes of Matt Gates, right? Yes, indeed. A different body, the Office of Congressional Conduct, led an investigation into Gonzales, and its results were set to be delivered to the Ethics Committee on Wednesday. The office could not send the results earlier because the investigation was completed within 60 days of Gonzales' primary in Texas. Now, whether or not the results of the Act that's committee probe will be published, will come down to when it's completed. The committee investigates only sitting lawmakers, so the investigation could

14:47come to an abrupt halt if he's still underway when Gonzales' term ends. Oh, okay. That's obviously very convenient and all of a sudden. I think this happened with, was it cough-orn? Someone that was under some sort of ethics investigation, maybe it was actually Matt Gates that they, you know, he left Congress and all of a sudden the investigation just fucking disappeared. So that's nice. This guy leaves and we don't get to the results of the investigation. And then he withdraws from his race so Republicans don't have to go through the expensive runoff election for his seat. But then he stays in Congress the rest of his term. So Mike Johnson can keep his razor thin majority. All that sounds like bullshit. Very convenient. And can we please get rid of this 60 days before an election? You can't have any investigation into you both in the Congress and at the Department of Justice. Can we just fucking shit can that? Because if an investigation shows that somebody running for Congress, you know, did what Gonzales did or Matt Gates did, you know, or anybody Scott Perry who was being

15:49investigated by Merrick Garland back, you know, but those 60 days within a primary, we should know about it, especially if it's within 60 days of a primary. A hundred percent. Also from NBC, the US shed 92,000 jobs in February and previous months of job growth were not as strong as previously reported, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, which they announced on Friday and report that we'll raise alarms about the state of the economy. By the way, the stock market is tanking. We're well under like 50,000 now. So when Pam Bondy comes before Congress, we should, you know, point that out. We're not at 50,000 at the Dow anymore. So you should answer these questions. That's right. The unemployment rate ticked up to 4.4%. Little change from January's report. Economists expected to add 50,000 jobs. They lost 92,000. That's insane. That feels like bad math. God, it also

16:50revised down January's previously stellar payroll figure from 130. That's stellar 130,000. That was a bad month for Joe Biden. Yeah. But it revised down to 126, 126,000. The agency also cut December's figure from 50,000 added jobs to 17,000 jobs lost in December. With those revisions, 2025 was the first year to record five months of labor market contractions job loss since 2010, as we were recovering from the global financial crisis. Quote, well, that was ugly. Quote, mark, hammer, senior economic analyst, very well analyzed mark at the financial publishing company bank rate. That's what he wrote in a note after Friday's data release. Well, that was ugly. Yeah. You might, you might say that. Okay. God, what a mess. This next one is from Democracy Docket. The White House confirmed Friday that Trump is pressing Congress to add new provisions targeting transgender people in the Save America Act. And this is a sweeping

17:53anti-voting bill that could disenfranchise millions. And I need to say something before I go on with the rest of this story. Laverne Cox gave a speech at the Glad Awards. Oh, man, there is a genocide building against the trans community. And we're not using that word flippantly. They're dehumanizing the trans non-binary community step by step dismantling their humanity. This is not us getting hysterical. This is not us overreacting. This is the time to stop this bullshit because they started with sports and they started with bathrooms. And it was a litmus test to see how far they could go to dehumanize a minority group of people to see if there was outrage. And when there was an outrage, they continue to go further. Let's take away the healthcare. Let's take away their driver's licenses. Let's take away the right to vote. Do you all see what's happening? No matter where you stand with the sports issue, I need you to fight for the trans and non-binary community like they are one of your own. They will not stop with

18:55them. We have seen where this has gone in the past and history. And this is how everything began before. I know people don't like when we make comparisons to things like the Holocaust. But when you dehumanize a group of people, this is how things like this start. I'm not saying we're there. This is how it starts. They began with the LGBTQ community in the 30s in Germany. They did. They burned the libraries. They burned all of the information that they had done on research. They burned the arts. They burned all of these things. So as we start this story, I'm getting off my soap box, but I really need this community who believes in supporting and protecting the trans and non-binary community to get fucking loud. It is time to get loud. Yeah. And vote for candidates who also will protect. Yes. The community members. Yes, yes. Now, the proposed additions along with provision banning no excuse male voting were not included in legislation in the House narrowly past last month. Trump appears to be using

19:59this cultural war issue, which are very popular among Republican voters to increase the pressure on Republican lawmakers to back the bill. More and more know, this isn't working. It's not as popular with Republican voters as they think. They're starting to understand that this was a fear tactic and what really matters to them is the cost of groceries and the cost of gas and the fact that they have health insurance. We saw this in Montana, led by Zoe's effort. Absolutely. While House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt, who lies every time her lips move, said during a press briefing that Trump recently added new demands to the anti-voting legislation which already faced deep odds in the Senate. And I quote, this is a huge priority for the president. He added on some priorities to save America act in recent days, namely no transgender transition surgeries for minors. We're not going to tolerate the medilation of young children in this country. Well, then stop doing it on cis and intersex kids. How about we start there? Right. You're not to say no men in women's sports. Fuck off. The president putting all of these priorities together

21:01speaks on how common sense they are. No, they're not. The comments mark the first time the White House is publicly confirmed that Trump is pushing to attach anti-transgender policy to save America act. In recent true social posts earlier this week, which is really interesting, Trump wrote that the legislation includes no male imbalances except for illness, disability, military or travel, no men in women's sports, no transgender mutilation surgery for children. That's not what the original post said, by the way. The original post said without parental permission. And then everyone lost their fucking mind on his side and he took it down. Now an earlier version, as I said, Trump's post included language regarding parental consent for transition surgeries. But after backlash from far right activists, he deleted the post and republished a version removing the parental consent clause. Boy, he can just be moved by the wind to again to genocide a whole group of people can't he? Yep. The bill passed in the house last month. It will require people registering two vote in federal elections to provide documentary proof of US citizenship and show photo

22:02ID in person would also mandate routine voter purges. If the Senate were to amend the bill to include the male voting ban and the anti-trans provisions, the measure would have to return to the house for another vote, a potentially difficult hurdle giving the narrow margin by which it passed initially. Even without those additions, the bill faces long odds in the Senate where most legislation requires 60 votes to pass and where Democrats have vowed to block it. Senate majority leader, John Thun, the Republican from South Dakota has so far declined to support changing the filibuster rules to pass the SAVE America Act. Yeah. And by the way, it was initially called the SAVE Act and they changed it to SAVE America so that they can throw these BS provisions into it. All right. Next up from the times, the February 28th strike that hit an elementary school in a southern Iranian town called Manab is the deadliest known episode of civilian casualties since the United States and Israel attacked Iran and no side has yet taken responsibility. But a body of evidence assembled by the New York Times, including newly released satellite imagery,

23:05social media posts and verified videos indicates the school building was severely damaged by a precision strike that occurred at the same time as attacks on adjacent naval bases operated by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. So you remember when the story came out and we were like, that's this is a story from a Iranian state media. Now the New York Times is saying it is very likely that this was a precision strike by the US, probably operating off of old maps or maybe because of AI. They got it wrong. The story goes on and official statements that US forces were attacking naval targets near the Strait of Hormuz or the IRGC bases located suggest they were most likely to have carried out the strike. To more fully assess the damage inside the base and what might have caused it, the Times ordered new satellite imagery from the provider planet labs and image taken on Wednesday further corroborated the chronology. The imagery shows that multiple precision strikes hit at least six revolutionary guards buildings along with the school. Four

24:06buildings inside the naval base were completely destroyed and two other buildings showed impact points at the center of their roofs consistent with such precision hits. Thank you so much, A.G. This one is from NBC. Trump has privately expressed serious interest in deploying US troops on the ground in Saudi Iran according to two US officials. This is from a former US official and another person who have knowledge of the conversations. Trump has discussed the idea of deploying ground troops with aides and Republican officials outside the White House while outlining his vision for a post war Iran. Really? What is your fucking vision for that and which Iran's uranium is secure in US and a new Iranian regime cooperate on oil production similar to how the US and Venezuela are. I'm sorry, have US and Venezuela cooperating? You win and kidnap their president. To stole the oil and put it in the money in a fucking offshore account. Okay. The president's comments expressing serious interest into deploying ground troops have not focused on a large-scale ground invasion of Iran.

25:08But rather an idea of a small contingent of US troops that would be used for specific strategic purposes. This is from the US officials. This is with the former US official and the person known with the discussions said. They said Trump has not made any decisions or given any orders related to any ground troops. Publicly, Trump has not rolled out putting US boots on the ground in the Iran, though the war has so far consisted only of air campaign. His private discussions about the idea show a president perhaps more willing to consider taking such a step than his public comments on the issue so far have suggested. Any deployment of American troops inside of Iran could increase the scale of the scope of the war and escalate the risk to American forces. Since the war began on Saturday, six US service members have been killed and 18 wounded in countertax any Iran. And this is according to the Pentagon. Yeah, now I have some better news. This is from Reuters. A divided US appeals court, two to one has refused to let the Trump administration revoke legal protections that would allow more than 350,000 Haitians to live and work in the US and avoid being returned to their

A two to one panel, the US court of appeals for DC, laid on Friday rejected the administration's bid to pause a February second ruling that blocked the US Department of Homeland Security from ending Haiti's temporary protected status. So this is again, I mean, it's good news, but 350,000 people, their lives are up in the air. It's like the DACA, it's like our dreamers. Yeah, right. Constantly wondering and worrying. I mean, that stress and that trauma has to, has to be enduring and generational and just really, really, I can't imagine. Yeah. And I do have a little more good news from NBC. And federal judge on Wednesday blocked Florida, Governor Ron DeSantis's order to classify a prominent Muslim civil rights group as a terrorist organization, calling the Republican's actions, and I quote a political statement at the expense of others constitutional rights. Well said, US district judge Mark Walker issued a preliminary injunction against the governor's actions related to the council on American Islamic relations or CARE C-A-I-R. DeSantis issued an executive order

27:20on December 8 calling CARE a terrorist organization, which prevented the organization from receiving any contract employment funds or other benefit of privilege. Now, this is the quote, the first amendment bars the government from continuing the troubling trend of using an executive office to make a political statement at the expense of others constitutional rights. This is from the judge, judge Walker. The governor's decree, chorus's third parties, under threats of losing government benefits to disassociate from the council on American Islamic relations, that's CARE, thereby closing avenues of expression and suppressing CARE's protected speech. The judge cited President George Washington's fame 1790 letter to the Hebrew congregation in Rhode Island as the bedrock for American safeguards of religious minorities. And he said the quote, the constitution protects plaintiffs speech just as it protects any other organization's lawful speech from suppression by governmental coercion of third parties. Well said, judge.

They're technically practice Nomes for a workshop I'm leading next week in our maker space. I usually describe myself as about as crafty as an empty roll of toilet paper. But when I was asked to help create a workshop to bring our students a little extra joy, I thought, sure, why not? And just like that, Larry and Jerry came to life. Three guests is welcome, but only the flattering ones. In a couple of weeks, I'll be traveling across the country with a group of students spring break to volunteer at an LGBTQ plus youth center in Colorado. We're all incredibly excited for the opportunity to support such an amazing organization and to grow from the experience ourselves. A counselor recommended a sleep study and we found out that he has moderate to severe sleep apnea. Sleep apnea in kids shows up as mood disorders, anxiety, depression, and commimic ADHD. After years of struggling, we finally have an answer

36:35and a path forward. He just had his tonselectomy and we're in the thick of recovering from that. Tonsils are the number one cause of sleep apnea in kids. I urge any parent who's struggling with finding answers for their kids who are struggling to look into getting a sleep study done. Shout out to the counselor who recommended we pursue a sleep study. We are so grateful. My pet tax is a picture of my kids the moment we surprised them with the adoption of our kiddie stripes and another of how big he is now.
